Happy Sunday! Another great day in 404 Obamafail Land. This pinup is by Fiona Stephenson, with a wee bit of help.
What is happening in Ye Olde Blogosphere? The Fine 15
As always, the full set of pinups can be seen in the Patriotic Pinup category, or over at my Gallery page. While we are on pinups, since it is that time of year, have you gotten your “Pinups for Vets†calendar yet? And don’t forget to check out what I declare to be our War on Women Rule 5 and linky luv posts
Anyone else have a link or hotty-fest going on? Let me know so I can add you to the list. (BTW, since someone asked, the reason I leave links for the previous week up (or you might see a *) is because they are place holders for later in the day or for next weeks. Easier than rewriting all the time. Also, the listing order has to do with how they are added over time, not how good a post is. I just copy and paste from the previous week, then edit. If you see one of the *’s, go ahead and check out the blog anyhow, see if there is an update. I cannot update with my Android during the day.

They really shouldn’t have driven fossil fueled vehicles back in the old days
(Haaretz) Between 1250 and 1100 B.C.E., all the great civilizations of the eastern Mediterranean – pharaonic Egypt, Mycenaean Greece and Crete, Ugarit in Syria and the large Canaanite city-states – were destroyed, ushering in new peoples and kingdoms including the first Kingdom of Israel.
Now scientists are suggesting a climatic explanation for this great upheaval: A long dry period caused droughts, hunger and mass migration. Such is the conclusion of a three-year study published this week in Tel Aviv: Journal of the Institute of Archaeology of Tel Aviv University.
Wait, drought in the Middle East? Shocking! I bet those folks refused to give up their air conditioning and never unplugged their electronic devices from the outlets when not in use.
On the bright side, the article didn’t add the typical bloviation about concern that this could happen now. Well, 100 years in the future, when everyone will have forgotten the prognostication. You’re supposed to gleam that we’re doomed from Hotcoldwetdry, er, “climate change” caused by Mankind. Interestingly, what caused the changing climate back then?

Grass Roots North Carolina is not happy about Raleigh Parks and Rec lollygagging
(Raleigh N&O) North Carolina’s most vocal gun rights group is threatening to sue Raleigh if it doesn’t update signs in city parks that tell visitors firearms aren’t allowed.
Grass Roots North Carolina sent a letter to the Raleigh City Council this week, requesting an update to the signs now that state law allows concealed-carry permit holders to bring guns to playgrounds, greenways and college campuses.
In an email, Raleigh parks director Diane Sauer told the group it would be too expensive to replace all signs in the city’s 100-plus parks – especially because state lawmakers might change the rules again.
Sauer says that they will be replaced over time. Right. Sure they will. Funny how liberals aren’t bothered by spending oodles of taxpayer money to comply with laws they like. Raleigh city lawyer Tom McCormick states that the city won’t enforce the outdated bans on guns in parks, in abeyance of the new laws.
Grass Roots NC should offer to remove the signs for free, with all being turned in for recycling, the better to protect the environment.

Perhaps companies are extremely reticent to dump their money into projects that have a poor rate of financial return
(Washington Times) So much for the White House dream of solar selling like hotcakes. The first federal auction run by the Bureau of Land Management to sell chances to build solar power projects on public land went completely bust on Thursday.
Nobody showed to bid.
“We did not have any bidders come to the sale, and we did not received any sealed bids on the sale,†BLM spokeswoman Vanessa Lacayo said, Denver Business Journal reported.
Sometime in the future, solar will be a viable addition for energy generation, but right now it cannot survive without massive government subsidies. If you build a 50 megawatt facility, the average delivered power will be around 8 megawatts. Meanwhile, a natural gas facility would deliver around 49 megawatts with a smaller footprint.

(Somehow, plastering the clear-cut landscape with solar panels is supposed to be “sustainable”)
BLM did try and put a good spin on the complete failure, though
“The BLM had received interest in developing the sites, that’s why we moved forward,†Ms. Lacayo said, in the media outlet. “It’s hard to say why we didn’t have any bidders.â€
Specifically, the BLM reported the receipt of nine applications and 27 inquiries and expressions of interest from those in the private sector about the possibility of solar project development on the public land. That’s why they went forth with the auction, the BLM said.
Isn’t that how they’re trying to spin Obamacare? Applications?
Listening to Rush Limbaugh briefly while taking a post-gym shower, he mentioned the Freedomworks free ebook, Rules for Patriots, and how part of it is about telling stories, much like the Left does. One correction of Rush, they don’t tell stories, they tell fables. Like this from Warmist Guy Williams
(The Australian) “It’s a common myth and should be dispelled: that if sea ice disappears one season in the Arctic it magically reappears in the next season in the Antarctic. That couldn’t be further from the truth. They are two completely different (climate) systems, responding to (global) warming in different ways.â€
Via Tim Blair, who notes “So if the ice vanishes, it’s due to global warming. And if it increases, it’s also due to global warming. Interesting.”
BTW, the quote came in an article that noted
WINTER sea ice cover in the Antarctic has grown to its largest extent since satellite records began in the late 1970s, defying most climate models and muddying the waters of the global warming debate.
The latest data from NASA’s satellites shows the winter sea ice cover around the frozen continent reached a record 19.47 million sq km last month. That beats last winter’s 19.44 million sq km — itself a record.
According to NASA, it is 3.6 per cent higher than the average maximum between 1981 and 2010, with the sea ice cover in Antarctica growing at 1.5 per cent a decade.
It couldn’t possibly be natural variation, right?
