Raleigh Gun Rights Group Threatens Lawsuit Over Anti-gun Signs

Grass Roots North Carolina is not happy about Raleigh Parks and Rec lollygagging

(Raleigh N&O) North Carolina’s most vocal gun rights group is threatening to sue Raleigh if it doesn’t update signs in city parks that tell visitors firearms aren’t allowed.

Grass Roots North Carolina sent a letter to the Raleigh City Council this week, requesting an update to the signs now that state law allows concealed-carry permit holders to bring guns to playgrounds, greenways and college campuses.

In an email, Raleigh parks director Diane Sauer told the group it would be too expensive to replace all signs in the city’s 100-plus parks – especially because state lawmakers might change the rules again.

Sauer says that they will be replaced over time. Right. Sure they will. Funny how liberals aren’t bothered by spending oodles of taxpayer money to comply with laws they like. Raleigh city lawyer Tom McCormick states that the city won’t enforce the outdated bans on guns in parks, in abeyance of the new laws.

Grass Roots NC should offer to remove the signs for free, with all being turned in for recycling, the better to protect the environment.

The park director is blowing smoke. Most cities of this size have an in-house sign shop that can whip up signs anytime. Maybe have the old stencil filed away. There are private sign shops/graphic art shops that made us signs over night if we needed. If desperate and the sign design allows for it a piece of tape that matches the background could be used to cover the offending language. The city Attorney may not enforce the ordinance but what about the park employee or police man that did not get the memo. city attorney may be defending an unlawful arrest. I call BS and a stink should be raised.

It is EXTREMELY easy to remove street signs. Why are they waiting for the parks dept to do it?

Or if you can’t be bothered to keep a crescent wrench in your car, paint a simple red circle with a line through it on them. It’s not vandalism. It’s a correction.
