We Only Have Two Decades To Stop The Coming Climate Hell

Whew! I thought there was an actual danger (if you hit the paywall, try searching the article on Google or Yahoo or something. That’s the way I get in)

World has two decade window to stave off ‘dangerous’ climate change

The world has a two decade window to build an efficient, low carbon society or risk being “locked-in” to a pathway towards dangerous levels of climate change, authors of the latest UN-backed climate change report have warned.

Working group three (WGIII) of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) will on Sunday release its latest report, calling for a fundamental shift in global investment from fossil fuels to renewable energy and other green technologies, as a means of tackling escalating climate change risks.

Which amuses me to no end, since all these folks working for the IPCC, along with most “climate change” groups, use vast amounts of fossil fuels to get to and from their constant “climate change” meetings, symposiums, speeches, conferences, and demonstrations.

Twenty years is great, because Desmond Tutu gave us only 15! And James Hansen only gave us 4 back in 2009. Al Gore predicting climate doom in 10 years (that was 2007). And there so many examples of wacko-enviro and climate alarmist doomsaying. Remember the Population Bomb? Fail. How about the claims of the Arctic being ice free? Fail. Schoolkids in Britain won’t know what snow looks like? Fail. A 2 degree rise in global temps by 2010? Fail. Australia being a desert hell? Fail. Now they claim that Australia will be a flooded hell. Claims of hurricane activity like the 2005 season being the new normal. Fail. Mass starvation as food crops fail. Fail. Mass migrations of people causing constant war. Fail. Seriously, are there any Warmist predictions that are coming true?

Infrastructure being built over the next two decade will determine the shape of society and the global economy at the end of this century, so it is essential to ensure the right technologies are put in place, Benoit Lefevre, lead author of the IPCC WGIII chapter on renewable energy and fossil fuel investments, told BusinessGreen.

“Time is crucial – we have two decades of opportunity,” he said. “The world is urbanising and the cities we are going to have at the end of the century are being built right now. All the infrastructure will be developed during the next 10 to 20 years. Here we have a clear opportunity to do it in a smart, efficient, and low carbon way – so it’s really a matter of acting now.”

When in doubt, follow the money. And the Progressive notion of Big Government

“To put us on the right track… we need to have a combination of push and pull factors,” he said. “On one end we need developed countries to create a set of institutional arrangements, to adopt the right loans and regulations to effectively mobilise climate finance. On the other hand, we need developing countries to put in place the right set of policies, institutions, etc to attract this private and public finance.” (snip)

“The report calls for an ‘all hands on deck’ approach – there are roles for the private and public sector,” Levin said. “This is a problem of the global commons and every individual and every company and every country needs to be part of the solution.”

Which is funny, because Warmists don’t practice what they preach, they just want Everyone Else to be forced to follow their dogma. You can feel the fascism. In fact, one of the lines in the final draft summary reads “Effective mitigation will not be achieved if individual agents advance their own interests independently” (via Climate Depot). This is about reducing liberty and forcing everyone to comply with the cult of climate change.

Sebelius: Thanks To Ocare, People Have Competitive Choices For First Time Ever!

Like seemingly most who work for Team Obama, Kathleen Sebelius is rather divorced from reality

(Fox News) Outgoing Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius says the timeline for the ObamaCare rollout was “flat-out wrong” and that the federal exchange could have used “more time and testing” before going online.

Sebelius, who led the agency through the problem-plagued rollout, made her comments in an interview that aired Sunday on “NBC’s “Meet the Press,” the first interview since she announced her resignation Thursday.

“Clearly, the estimate that it was ready to go Oct. 1 was just flat-out wrong,” she said Sunday.

And who, exactly, was in ultimately in charge of making sure that the federal exchange website? She discusses this like she had little culpability.

Sebelius also said the roughly first eight weeks of the glitch-filled rollout was the low point of her five years as secretary.

Still, she defended the President Obama’s signature law, arguing millions of Americans now have access to health care because of it.

“People have competitive choices and real information for the first time ever in this insurance market,” Sebelius said.

I’m not sure whether to laugh or scream based on the utter idiocy, the sheer propaganda element of that comment. In what reality does this make any sense? In a large number of states, there are only 1-3 insurers participating. In many exchanges, both state and federal, the nations largest insurers said “nope, no thanks.” Even in the states with lots of providers, many have little offerings. California is supposed to have 11 different providers, but many only operate in certain areas, and many only offer one plan per level.

Does Sebelius think these health insurance companies just sprang up to operate in the Obamacare exchanges, and there were few prior to the passage of Ocare? Let’s not forget about all the doctors, medical facilities, and hospitals (including some of the countries best) that are not participating in Ocare networks, either voluntarily or because they were not included to control costs.

I’ve had company provided insurance since I started working back in my early 20’s: I’ve had all the information I needed, even back in the early 90’s when the Internet was in its infancy and insurers provided you with paper explanations and you called them on a landline phone.

It’s no wonder people have little trust in Government, when they spin and flat out lie in manners such as this.

Good News: Solar Plants Scorching Birds

Don’t forget, this is all sustainable and protects the environment or something

(Washington Times) A new report by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service finds that solar facilities in California are acting like “mega traps” that kill and injure birds. As a result, “entire food chains” are being disrupted.

USFWS’s National Fish and Wildlife Forensics Laboratory studied three solar farms in Southern California: Desert Sunlight, Genesis Solar and Ivanpah Solar Electric Generating System (ISEGS). Two-hundred and thirty-three different birds from 71 species were found over the course of a two-year study.

The three main causes of death were:

1. Solar flux: Exposure to temperatures over 800 degrees F.

2. Impact (or blunt force) trauma: The birds’ wings are rendered inoperable while flying, causing them to crash into the ground. Birds that do not die are often injured badly enough to make them vulnerable to predators.

3. Predators: When a bird’s wings are singed and it can not fly, it loses its primary means of defense against animals like foxes and coyotes.

The study found lots and lots of different types of birds being harmed and killed.

In one instance, lab staff observed a “falcon-type bird with a plume of smoke arising from the tail as it passed through [a] flux field.”

Hey, the falcon was just taking one for Team Warmist.

The study found that besides the intense heat, birds may be mistaking large solar panels for bodies of water. The injured birds then attract insects and other predators to the area. They, too, are then vulnerable to injury or death.

In one instance, researchers found “hundreds upon hundreds” of butterfly carcasses (including Monarchs). The insects were attracted to the light from the solar farms, which in turn attracted birds and perpetuated a cycle of death and injury.

Kinda funny how Warmist prescriptions for saving the environment from “climate change” cause more problems, wouldn’t you say?

NY Times: NC Shows Strains Within GOP Or Something

Obviously, it would be too much to ask for the NY Times to have an article on either their web front page and/or dead tree edition about the situation in Nevada between the BLM, Cliven Bundy, and all the supporters. No, what’s really important is to manufacture some type of civil war going on in the Republican Party

North Carolina Shows Strains Within G.O.P.

There is a Tea Party candidate who talks about the Constitution and has the backing of Senator Rand Paul. There is a Baptist pastor, endorsed by Mike Huckabee, who wears a “Jesus First” lapel pin and has led the fight against same-sex marriage. And there is a Republican state lawmaker — supported by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and $1 million from Karl Rove’s American Crossroads group — standing up for the party establishment.

In the high-profile Republican primary for Senate here, the divisions that are gripping the party nationally are playing out powerfully, expensively and often very messily. And, after haunting losses in 2012 in which far-right Senate candidates prevailed in primaries only to collapse in the general election, the Republican establishment is determined to stifle the more radical challengers.

Can anyone guess what word is used to describe this? Why, yes, it is called “politics”. There’s also a phrase associated with this: business as usual. There is nothing, absolutely nothing, unusual about fights between the establishment and more “radical” challengers. In either party. It occurs in the Democrat Party. It happens in Parties around the world. It is nothing new. There are factions within political Parties, and you are going to get candidates who are super squishy and those who are more out there.

One of the big things in American politics is that we have two political parties. Sure, you may get a few winning as independents here and there, but in both the GOP and Dem Party you will have outliers, people who might be best off in their own parties. Many Republicans would be best off as Libertarians. Many Democrats would be best off as National Socialist Party candidates/members. Some Republicans should probably be Democrats, at least Dems in the JFK mold. Some Democrats should be in the U.S. Marijuana Party, not because of political beliefs, just because they seem to be heavily stoned quite a bit.

“What I really see is the national Republican civil war playing out here in North Carolina,” said Thomas Mills, a political blogger in Carrboro, a town near Chapel Hill. “You’ve got all the factions of the party.”

Excellent, let’s quote the left leaning blog, with both of the writers self describing as liberals, with articles such as one whining about the Koch brothers and another that mentions bestiality and the GOP. But no article that I can find about some civil war in the GOP. The Times couldn’t have asked me, an NC Conservative? How about Sister Toldjah? Lady Liberty 1885? Free North Carolina? Another? How about the John Locke Foundation? No, let’s pick a liberal.

The Senate race comes at a time when the state’s political identity is in flux. North Carolina is an increasingly purple state — Barack Obama narrowly won it in 2008, and Mitt Romney carried it in 2012. The combination of Research Triangle Park, with its investments in biotechnology and medical research; a strong university system; and Charlotte’s banking and financial centers has attracted an influx of new residents. Yet at the same time, the Statehouse is trending conservative, with Republicans controlling the governor’s office and both houses of the legislature for the first time in more than a century.

All those Northern Liberals moving south to escape the results of their insane policies, attempting to bring them here.

Still, it is the battle for the Republican nomination, leading to the primary on May 6, that has been generating the most activity.

My goodness, candidates battling for the nomination? Who woulda thunk it?

The rest of the article is simply a way to bash the candidates, particularly Tom Tillis, who appears to be the front-runner, along with propping up Kay Hagan (our miserable failure of a senator, obviously a Democrat). That was the point of this article, appearing on the front page, top left, of the Sunday paper edition. Create division, make the GOP look outside the mainstream, and help out Kay. In reality, there is no strain, this is simply politics as usual, with candidates with different views fighting it out.

Creepy Sculptures Show As What Happens “If We Ignore Climate Change”

PolicyMic calls the sculptures “haunting“. I call them creepy

Artist Isaac Cordal’s tiny sculptures are found in the most unlikely of places: on top of buildings, in alleyways, on gutters, at bus stops. They are found in nooks and crannies around the world, and the gravity of their meaning is far greater than their size.

The first outdoor “intervention” of the artist’s Cement Eclipses series is from 2008. Since then, he’s made approximately 60 “interventions” (Cordal’s word for the installations), published two books and brought his work to countries around the world. Sometimes the sculptures stay in one space for long periods, other times he places them, takes a photograph and moves on. In every place and with every sculpture Cordal is making a point, or more pointedly asking a question: What are we doing to our world?

Cordal’s work is desolate, haunting and haunted, but that makes sense: He is fixated on environmental disaster and he uses his art, specifically his project “Waiting for Climate Change,” to bring that potential future into sharp focus. In his work, small human figures seem to cope with a post-apocalyptic reality. According to the artist statement on Cordal’s site, “The art work intends to catch the attention on our devalued relation with the nature through a critical look to the collateral effects of our evolution.” It’s safe to say, Cordal succeeds.

Interesting: Cordal has apparently traveled all over the world for the art. Obviously, Mr. Cordal walked, right? No fossil fueled travel, right? Let’s see one

Obama Tells Us What The Real Voter Fraud Is

Hint: it’s the people passing laws that require people to verify who they are in order to vote

(The Blaze) President Barack Obama tore into state voter ID laws Friday when speaking to the Rev. Al Sharpton’s National Action Network, accusing Republicans of trying to block minorities, women and seniors from voting and calling the laws a fraud.

“We don’t want folks voting that shouldn’t be voting,” Obama told the gathering in New York. “Let’s stipulate to that as the lawyers say, but there is a reason why those who argue that harsh restrictions on voting are somehow necessary to fight voter fraud are having such a hard time proving any real widespread voter fraud.”

Except for the 36,000 cases of potential voter fraud in 2012, just in the state of North Carolina. Every illegal vote harms a legitimate vote.

Obama said most studies show voter fraud is not a problem.

“The real voter fraud is those that try to deny our rights by making arguments about voter fraud. but I have to say, there have been some of these officials who have been passing these laws have been more blunt,” Obama said.

And there you have it: Mr. Obama is Chooming again. Or demagoging. Possibly both. Of course, Liberals are only concerned about voter fraud when they lose an election. Otherwise, it’s no big deal.

Would it surprise you that Obama also went down the raaaaacism superhighway? Of course not: he’s a Democrat and speaking at Sharpton’s race baiting and tax avoiding NAN.

He noted that he visited the Lyndon B. Johnson Presidential Library the day before. Johnson signed the Voting Rights Act in 1965 to prevent efforts by local government to prevent blacks from voting.

“The right to vote is threatened today in a way that it has not since nearly five decades ago. Across the country, Republicans have led efforts to pass laws making it harder, not easier, for people to vote,” Obama said. He went on to say, “We won’t let voter suppression go unchallenged.”

Democrats think that Blacks are too stupid and too lazy to be able to get a proper ID, which is needed for almost everything nowadays. Like……visiting the White House

All guests 18 years of age or older will be required to present a valid, government-issued photo identification (detailed below). All foreign nationals must present their passport. All other forms of foreign identification will not be accepted.

What kind of ID’s are acceptable?

Valid government-issued United States identification card (e.g. drivers license, military ID, etc.)

Valid United States or other official government-issued passports

Apparently, Obama doesn’t want Black people to visit the White House. Otherwise, why would he require ID and in such a restrictive manner?

EPA’s War On Coal Puts US At Risk Of Brownouts And Blackouts

Anyone surprised?

(Fox News) Facing the Obama administration’s so-called “war on coal,” some utility officials are warning that fewer coal-fired power plants could leave the U.S. power system vulnerable to blackouts in the near future.

The officials warn that intense summer heat or extreme winter cold could soon be too much for the system to handle.

“I worry about the potential of brownouts and blackouts if we’re … actually depending on this generation that’s going to be retired,” Nick Akins, from American Electric Power, told Fox News in an interview.

“Regulation from five years ago is closing about 20 percent of the coal plants. Regulations being proposed now could close an additional 20 percent of coal plants. And that creates huge stresses — we’re just not ready for anything like that in this country,” Mike Duncan, from the American Coalition for Clean Coal Electricity, told Fox News.

I’ll note once again that I’m not a big fan of coal, which is not entirely clean, and can be bad for environmental health (I’m not referring to “climate change”, but real environmental issues). Nor do I buy into clean coal. At this time, there power generation has not been replaced, and solar and wind are still non-viable alternatives.

Obviously, Gina McCarthy’s out of control EPA, along with Gina herself, say there’s nothing to worry about, and

“Nothing we do can threaten reliability. We have to recognize that in a changing climate like the one we have recently been experiencing, it is an increasing challenge to maintain a reliable energy supply,” McCarthy said.

That’s right, she blames any grid issues on “climate change”. Aren’t you glad the person in charge of your electricity supply is insane?

Still, considering this past winter’s severe cold and “Polar Vortex,” Alaska Republican Sen. Lisa Murkowski noted at a Senate hearing this week that the system was at its limits.

“Eight-nine percent of the coal electricity capacity that is due to go offline was utilized as that backup to meet the demand this winter,” Murkowski said.

This is the danger of having radical activists with an axe to grind in charge of any government agency, much less the EPA: they aren’t really worried about the overall impacts of their foolish, deranged, and irrational rules and regulations. With the coal rules, they’re worried about the fictional issue of Man causing changes to the climate 50-100 years down the road, despite all their models failing, rather than about the need for Americans to have the energy needed for a modern society.
