Don’t Forget, It’s Illegal To Wear An American Flag Shirt Today

Why? Because it’s Cinco De Mayo, an obscure holiday that is really only celebrated in the Mexican state of Pueblo, and has become an occasion to drink heavily here in the United States. Except for the illegal aliens and those who are here legally who push Mexican supremacy…isn’t that bigoted?…, returning parts of the US to Mexico, amnesty, etc. So don’t wear an American Flag shirt, at least in one California district

(Daily Caller) Students in a California school district will not be allowed to wear American flag T-shirts on Cinco de Mayo, due to concerns that such displays of patriotism would inflame racial tensions by offending Mexican students on their holiday.

The district’s policy concerned many free speech advocates, but was upheld by the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.

In response, Tea Party groups plan to protest outside Live Oak High School in Morgan Hill. And they will be wearing American flag T-shirts.

“They silenced a symbol of patriotism and freedom in America,” said Georgine Scott-Codiga, president of the Gillroy-Morgan Hill Patriots, in a statement to KCBS.

The practice of limiting one group’s free speech rights because that speech might cause another group to react violently is known as the “heckler’s veto.” It is understood by free speech enthusiasts to have a chilling effect on First Amendment rights.

Of course, the very liberal 9th Circuit ruled in favor of limiting 1st Amendment rights, because of the “heckler’s veto”.

Just to be clear, the situation wasn’t so black and white, as there is a history of antagonism between Hispanic and Anglo gangs in the area (wait, gangs in California? I thought it was all kumbaya?). And not all students wearing the American flag shirts were told to either turn them inside out or go home. And there was Supreme Court precedent for the shirts being banned. However, limiting Free Speech is a slippery slope. If the Hispanics were burning an American Flag, would the school administrators have stopped it because of the “heckler’s veto”? They had a little freakout over the shirts.

Perhaps we shouldn’t be celebrating a minor holiday about Mexican heritage and nationalistic supremacy, which mostly is about getting drunk, in public schools. No one freaks out about St. Patrick’s Day. But, then, true Irish don’t take to the streets to promote that America sucks and Ireland and the Irish are A#1. We don’t get stories about how not to be awful on St. Patrick’s Day. There aren’t stories about shootings during St. Patrick’s Day parades (shockingly, this was in Detroit). But, some do get out of hand, though the Irish aren’t usually pushing Irish nationalism. One has to wonder why we’re celebrating a Mexican holiday in the first place. Though, beating the snot out of larger, much better armed group of French troops is always a welcome cause for celebration. But, then, they did help the Colonies defeat the British during the War of Independence. Of course, don’t have a Mexican themed party, because that’s raaaaacist.

Dems Really Antsy Over Release Of CIA Torture Report, Which, Dude, Was Like Years Ago

Seriously, like, you know, the “torture” of stone cold jihadis was over two years ago. Unless, of course, Team Obama has continued the practice of rendition, water boarding, etc

(Politico) Wondering what happened to the controversial CIA interrogation report that the Senate Intelligence Committee voted to declassify a month ago? So are many Senate Democrats.

The response thus far from the Central Intelligence Agency and the White House: crickets.

Several Intelligence members are requesting updates and quick public release by the White House of the summary they voted to declassify in April. The document, which contains key findings and conclusions of a five-year probe by the committee, is expected to be highly critical of the CIA’s secret prisons and interrogation techniques used on terrorist suspects during the George W. Bush administration.

Intelligence Committee Chairwoman Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) has urged the White House to wrest control of the declassification process from the CIA and is demanding rapid action. But, in an interview, she said she has received little feedback from the Obama administration and seemed resigned to a lengthy timetable.

“I would hope that it would be short and quick,” said Feinstein. “That may be a vain [effort].”

Sorry, DiFi, if it doesn’t have anything to do with campaigning, Obama’s just not that into Doing President. Obama might have also realized that the programs worked. Say, I wonder if the Senate Democrats will release a report on Obama’s use of drones on jihadis? Anyhow, the report itself is supposed to say that the program stopped 20+ terrorist attacks, but the report claims that those attacks could have been stopped by other means. Like brownies with ice cream, I suppose.

Abu Zubaydah was waterboarded, supposedly 83 times, and that intelligence led to capture of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed. His waterboarding was said to have stopped those 20+ attacks, including one which have released an airborne pathogen on the US West Coast.

Of course, some of the “torture” as simply making detainees uncomfortable, like with hot and cold and sleep deprivation. And listening to the Red Hot Chili Peppers! Interestingly, the report is going to be highly critical of the CIA, rather than the Bush White House, claiming that the CIA misled the WH, Congress, and the American People. Of course, it all depends on what ends up being released, and what is redacted.

Anyhow, isn’t this old news? Why do we care when this was over two years ago? Dude! Yet, strangely, the Democrats, who are whining about spending money investigating Benghazi, spent roughly $40 million, so far, on this CIA “torture” report. Also of interest, the program saved the lives of Americans from Islamic terrorism, while in Benghazi four Americans were killed by Islamic jihadis while Team Obama did nothing. They failed to listen to the danger beforehand, they failed to do anything as the attacks were forming, they failed to act while the attacks were occurring, and then they lied about even before the attacks were over.

It’s a funny dichotomy: Dems are hot to trot for a report about being mean to Islamic throat cutters, yet want to stop all investigation into Benghazi, where Americans died.

No Statistically Significant Warming In 17 Years And 9 Months

Looks like we can cancle the Warmist apocalypse

As Climate Depot notes

According to the RSS satellite data, whose value for April 2014 is just in, the global warming trend in the 17 years 9 years since August 1996 is zero. The 212 months without global warming represents more than half the 423-month satellite data record, which began in January 1979. No one now in high school has lived through global warming.

Marc Morano also believes that this trend will soon end, as an El Nino even kicks in this year. Of course, we know the Warmists will blame El Nino on “climate change”, much like they’re now blaming the massive 1997 one on the same.

FYI, someone sent me an email for a link to be included. My bad, I deleted it while check email on my Droid by accident, along with a few other emails I needed. Please resend.

Anyone else have a link or hotty-fest going on? Let me know so I can add you to the list. (BTW, since someone asked, the reason I leave links for the previous week up (or you might see a *) is because they are place holders for later in the day or for next weeks. Easier than rewriting all the time. Also, the listing order has to do with how they are added over time, not how good a post is. I just copy and paste from the previous week, then edit. If you see one of the *’s, go ahead and check out the blog anyhow, see if there is an update. I cannot update with my Android during the day.

Politico: You Know, This Obama Guy Has A Tough Time Making Fun Of Himself

SO, apparently, it’s not just late night and other comedians that have trouble goofing on Obama: Obama himself has an issue

Barack Obama laughs at but not with

President Barack Obama is very smart (as he could tell you). He is also very funny (and the first to laugh at his own jokes). He is a master of comic timing, has an appealing sense of the absurdities of his chosen profession and an unerring ear for the withering one-liner.

As long as the subject is someone else.

When it comes to the sine qua non of political humor — devastating self-deprecation — Obama is less skilled or at least less willing to play an A game, as this weekend’s White House Correspondents’ Dinner is once again likely to show.

Sure, Obama makes fun of himself: for his big ears, his graying hair, his sagging approval ratings, even his bad bowling (though he stepped on a joke about the last subject with Jay Leno in 2009 by adding an ill-considered ad lib about his Special Olympics-level skill, for which he was forced to apologize). And the president has proved himself a good sport, enduring Zach Galifianakis’ absurdist insults on “Between Two Ferns,” where he went to promote his health care plan.

But Obama is much more likely to reserve his sharpest flashes of wit for his adversaries, antagonists and even (in a kind of throwback Henny Youngmanesque style) for the wife he invariably portrays as hectoring.

Politico also notes that the delivery is somewhat disembodies, like a guy observing his own performance. And the notion of really making fun of others, but not himself, is meshed throughout the article

But those jokes are in fact about others — Obama’s most fervent, starry-eyed supporters, or the virulent “birthers” who questioned his American citizenship — and not really about himself. The most lethal example of Obama’s ripostes to such critics came at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in 2011, with his extended riff on Donald Trump, who was in the room and decidedly not amused.

George Bush and John Kerry really loosened up at the dinner, and made fun of themselves quite a bit. Bush’s 2007 was hilarious.

The essential ingredient of such exercises, Parvin said, “is to be good-natured and likable.”

“That is really the great benefit of these dinners, for the audience, whether in the room or watching at home, is to see a different side of you, where you let your hair down a bit more, and you can say some things with humor that you couldn’t say seriously. You can say to people, ‘I can make fun of these things, so you don’t need to worry about it, because I have the perspective that even I can make fun of it.’ So it allows you to express a certain insight that you can’t say seriously.”

I don’t want to over-sell this meme, Obama just isn’t that warm, and the humor is quite often over-barbed. Here are a few of Obama’s top 10 lines per Politico’s Katie Gluek

  1. “These days, House Republicans are actually giving John Boehner a harder time than they’re giving me, which means orange really is the new black.” (not bad)
  2. On 2016: “Let’s face it, Fox…it’ll be harder to convince the American people that Hillary was born in Kenya.” (Dude, that is like 2 years ago)
  3. On his last year: “At one point, things got so bad, the 47 percent called Mitt Romney to apologize.” (an unneeded shot at Romney)
  4. “I did notice, [daughter] Sasha needed a speaker at Career Day. She invited Bill Clinton. I was a little hurt by that.” (that was a good line)
  5. “I haven’t seen somebody pull a 180 that fast [as an Olympic snowboarder] since Rand Paul dis-invited that Nevada rancher [Cliven Bundy] from this dinner.” (eh)
  6. “Gridlock [in D.C.] has gotten so bad, you’ve got to wonder, what did we do to piss off [Gov.] Chris Christie so bad?” (eh)
  7. On his recent trip to Malaysia: “The lengths we have to go to get CNN coverage these days [because of the network’s heavy coverage of missing flight MH370]. I think they’re still searching for their table.” (eh)
  8. “If you want to get paid while not working you should have to run for Congress just like everyone else.” (more campaigning)
  9. “MSNBC’s here, they’re a little overwhelmed. They’ve never seen an audience this big before.” (We may not care for MSNBC, but that was perhaps a shot a bit too far. It was really more nasty than good natured)
  10. On Healthcare.gov: “In 2008, my slogan was ‘Yes, we can.’ In 2013 my slogan was ‘control-alt-delete.’” (eh)

But, then, Obama has never really been too into being humble or self-deprecating. Nor about being anything but hardcore on his enemies, or, as other presidents would term them, opponents.

On the bright side for Obama, apparently Joel McHale was much, much worse. And Nancy Pelosi has apparently been infected with Harry Reid’s Koch Derangement Syndrome.

Good News: International Socialists Really Pumped About Climate Change

And by “international socialists”, I really mean international socialists. This comes to us from SocialistWorker.org, the website of the International Socialist Organization

Taking a stand on Earth Day

ON THIS year’s Earth Day, activists in cities around the U.S. held events as the nationwide Global Climate Convergence got underway.

The convergence was conceived as 10 days of activism, from Earth Day (April 22) to May Day (May 1), to draw the connections between the destruction of the environment and the struggles of working people. By highlighting these links, the convergence represented an important step in pointing to a real solution to climate change–one that sees environmental activists and working people as allies in a common struggle for environmental and social justice.

Is it any wonder that true Socialists, really, those who are enamored with old Soviet styled communism, are thrilled to incorporate “climate change” into their own far, far left doctrines? Linking “climate change” with May Day, another great Soviet holiday? Social justice and the proletariat? Class envy and manufactured division?

Obama Economy: Record High For Women Not In Workforce

Here’s your real war on women

(CNS News) The number of women 16 and older not in the labor force climbed to a record high of 55,116,000 in April, according to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).

This means that there were 55,116,000 women 16 and older who were in the civilian nonsinstitutional population who not only did not have a job, they did not actively seek one in the last four weeks. That is up 428,000 from the 54,688,000 women who were not in the labor force in March.

In April, according to BLS, the labor force participation rate for women was 56.9 percent, down from 57.2 percent in March. The labor force participation rate, as calculated by the BLS, is based on the civilian non-institutional population, which is the number of people in the country 16 or older who are not in the military or an institution.

It’s no wonder James Carville recommended that Democrats not say the word “recovery” during the run up to the 2014 mid-terms: there is none. The economy is limping along. No amount of yammering about “income inequality” and votes on raising the minimum wage to $10.10 will hide the fact that the economy is not doing well. Remember, the 1st quarter 2014 saw a GDP of 0.1%. Democrats blamed this on the weather. Because weather never happened before. There’s always an excuse with these clowns. What there isn’t is true economic growth and a good jobs market, which seems to be hurting women. Well, really, everyone. Fortunately, women are now getting free contraception! Hooray, Obamanomics!

Benghazi Vs. Botched Execution

Something interesting to note: Liberals care a whole lot about a stone cold killer, a brutal man who repeatedly raped and sodomized a woman, shot her, then buried her alive, who saw his veins collapse during his execution, eventually leading to his death some 40 minutes later. On the other side is Benghazi, where 4 Americans lost their lives, including our Ambassador. There are still questions as to why no military assets were sent. Why the consulate was not secure in the first place despite the known breakdown in eastern Libya, despite the credible threats known days before. Why the talking points were changed to blame a video. And where Obama, the commander in chief was during the entire affair on September 11th, 2012. Heck, here’s Obama on the execution

(CNN) Calling a botched state killing in Oklahoma “deeply troubling,” President Barack Obama said Friday the federal government would review death penalty procedures around the country.

Obama said he’s asked Attorney General Eric Holder to conduct an analysis of how death row criminals are killed after an execution attempt in Oklahoma left an accused murderer writhing and convulsing following a lethal injection.

“I think we do have to, as a society, ask ourselves some difficult and profound questions around these issues,” Obama said during a press conference with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, while reaffirming his belief the death penalty is an appropriate punishment for certain crimes.

Liberal groups are Very Upset about the “botched” execution, as well. Here’s Think Progress on Benghazi

If you ignored the headline and are reading this anyway, you are part of the problem. Despite the fact that the last several resurgences have produced nothing that verifies the claims of the right wing, we’re once again forced to wade into the matter and endure at least the fifth round of grandstanding in a cycle that leads us no closer to actually solving the problems that Benghazi revealed.

The latest return of the assault that killed four Americans in a diplomatic outpost in the eastern Libya city to the public consciousnesses comes from conservative group Judicial Watch obtaining on Tuesday a copy of White House emails from the days after the attack through a FOIA request to the State Deparment. Now Republicans and conservative media have narrowed in on one in particular from Deputy National Security Advisor Ben Rhodes as the latest in a string of smoking guns that proves malfeasance on the part of the administration. So now, after 11 open hearings in the House of Representatives alone, scores of witnesses called for testimony, millions of dollars spent, and thousands of documents from the administration, we’re at the point where the Republicans are generally scraping the bottom of the barrel in formulating their reasons to keep the investigation alive.

According to them, like most Lefties, Benghazi is a big nothing. Why? Because they care more about protecting Obama than about 4 Americans murdered by Islamic jihadis. That is the only answer. This is politics for them. Consider Harry Reid, who decided that Benghazi is a Koch Brothers plot. The man needs a forced mental health exam. Of course, I don’t think there’s a provision in the Constitution to force elected legislators out for being bat shit crazy.

Of course, for many newspapers and media outlets, Benghazi isn’t even front page news. John Boehner is going to appoint a special council to investigate Benghazi, and neither NY Times nor Washington Post, among others, features the store on their front pages, web or dead tree, today. Both have stories featuring Obama on the “botched” execution. This goes the same for many other liberal media outlets.

They’ve even complained about Benghazi being a waste of time and money

“We’ve produced tens of thousands of documents. We’ve done nine hearings, 46 briefings,” State Department spokeswoman Marie Harf told reporters Friday. She called a select committee unnecessary: “How many more taxpayer dollars are we going to spend trying to prove a political point that in 18 months they haven’t been able to prove?”

Interesting. Democrats usually have no problem wasting lots of time and money. Of course, when the administration is stonewalling and hiding documents, yes, it will take a long time. Say, I wonder how much money could have been saved now had Obama and Clinton secured the Benghazi consulate and/or not decided to play this game of blaming a video?
