And don’t forget to check out what I declare to be our War on Women Rule 5 and linky luv posts and things that interest me

Anyone else have a link or hotty-fest going on? Let me know so I can add you to the list. (BTW, since someone asked, the reason I leave links for the previous week up (or you might see a *) is because they are place holders for later in the day or for next weeks. Easier than rewriting all the time. Also, the listing order has to do with how they are added over time, not how good a post is. I just copy and paste from the previous week, then edit. If you see one of the *’s, go ahead and check out the blog anyhow, see if there is an update. I cannot update with my Android during the day.

Did An Arizona Police Officer “Brutally Attack” A 15 Year Old Girl During Stop?

Let’s be clear, I am not taking sides, but, does the story hold up? Here’s what we get from Cassandra Rules at The Free Thought Project

A video was uploaded to Facebook on Friday of a Mesa, Arizona police officer repeatedly punching and attacking a 15 year old girl as her mother begged them to stop.

The young girl, who was reportedly a runaway, was screaming that she couldn’t breathe as her mother attempted to explain to the officers that she has mental problems as well as asthma.

Luis Paul Santiago, the witness who filmed the violent encounter stated that police attempted to delete the video, and the second officer on the scene explained that the officer “behaved correctly” and stated that “if she needed to, she could have shot her dead.”

Let’s see that video

Is it just me, or did I miss the punches? I heard both people in the car filming say that they saw the punches. But, the video doesn’t seem to show them. I have replayed it 4 times. Both Raw Story and Addicting Info follow right along, as do all the folks in the comments. What do the police have to say?

A 15-year-old girl punched and kicked a Mesa police officer Friday after the female officer tried to get her attention, police said.

Mesa officers responded to a call Friday afternoon near 86th Street and Broadway, where a mother said her daughter had left their vehicle and was beginning to walk away. The teenager had a history of running away, police said.

According to a police statement, the female officer, whose name has not been released, attempted to stop the girl by reaching for her arm after three attempts to talk to the teen were ignored.

The teen then turned and assaulted the officer by kicking and punching her, police said. The officer then arrested the girl as the fighting continued, police said.

Both the officer and the girl suffered slight injuries, and the girl was voluntarily committed for a psychiatric evaluation.

So, what’s the reality? It seems, especially in light of recent events (some of which shows officers in a bad light, some of which are being falsely spun to show officers in a bad light), that some are more than willing to Blame police officers. But, does the officer deserve the blame in this case?

Climate Change Blamed For Coyote And Bear Attacks

Because they say so

(Climate Progress) In September, the Los Angeles area community of Seal Beach decided to start trapping and euthanizing coyotes in response to several pet deaths associated with the thriving urban predators. This controversial trap-and-kill policy is one of the most eye-catching developments in recent years as urban and rural wildlife boundaries in California become even further blurred — driven in part by the state’s crippling drought. Now in its fourth year, the drought has had profound impacts on humans and animals alike, with little end in sight. While the state was hit with a series of downpours in late November and early December, the several inches of rain only offered a drop in the bucket as far recovering from the drought.

This year a black bear killed a hiker in New Jersey for the first timein over 150 years as the bear population grows and spreads throughout the state. Polar bear attacks on humans are increasing in areas around the Arctic. And a new hybrid between coyotes and wolves, the coywolf, is rapidly expanding across the East as it combines the prowess of a wolf and cunning of a coyote — a bad combination for deer, another species that is thriving across suburban America. This inter-species breeding of the coywolf is brought on by human-driven stresses on species, such as habitat loss, over-hunting, and climate changes that lead to things like drought.

There’s actually a good point within the article about Mankind’s influence on the environment, things like land use, encroachment on habitats, and resource demand,  but then they have to let their Climatettes (Tourettes for Warmists) take over and blather about Hotcoldwetdry. This does a great disservice to real environmental issues.

Bosnian Woman Beaten In Hate Crime In South St. Louis

Where are all the outcries from the same people who are whipping others into a frenzy over Ferguson and Eric Garner?

(Breitbart) A 26-year-old white Bosnian woman was dragged out of her car early this morning and beaten by three black assailants in the same South St. Louis neighborhood that saw a Bosnian man bludgeoned to death with hammers earlier this week.

Police are investigating the attack as a possible hate crime because the victim says the suspects asked her if she was Bosnian during the attack.

Via St. Louis CBS Local:

According to a police report, at about 5:30 a.m., a Bosnian woman was driving on the 4600 block of Lansdowne when three black males in their late-teens to early-20s stepped in front of her vehicle.

When the woman tried to drive around them, the suspects reportedly pulled out a firearm, so she stopped the car.

After hitting her windshield with a crowbar, the suspects pulled the woman from her car, threw her on the ground and kicked her.

A suspect grabbed her purse, searched it, and told the others it was empty. All three suspects then fled the scene.

Police say the woman said she thought the crime was racially motivated because the suspects asked her if she was Bosnian.

There is apparently much more to this, there being a concerted effort to target Bosnians who are moving into the area by Blacks in South St. Louis. The issue has been turned over to the FBI, but where is the outrage from Attorney General Eric Holder, President Obama, folks like Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, and all those who immediately deemed the deaths of Michael Brown and Eric Garner as racist incidents? Where are the marches? Where are the demonstrations? This is the third recent attack. Seldin Dranovic was attacked with hammers but escaped. Zemir Begic did not, being beaten to death with hammers.

Washington Post: Hey, That UVA Rape Story Might Be Fake, But, It’s Accurate

I briefly mentioned the UVA rape allegation issue back on the 24th of November in relation to legislation in New Jersey which would criminalize “rape by fraud“, and had no interest in continuing to blog the story unless it was found to be false. Many have done a great job in investigating and blogging the story, particularly Tom Maguire at Just One Minute (like here and here). Of course, many sex assault advocates (a very strange way to term people who are against sexual assault, wouldn’t you say?) are saying that the point is not whether the story is real or fake, the point is the issues of sexual assault occurring on campus. The Washington Post Editorial Board jumps on board

ACKNOWLEDGING DISCREPANCIES in its controversial story about an alleged gang rape at the University of Virginia , Rolling Stone magazine issued an apology on Friday. There is no underestimating the damage caused by the magazine’s faulty reporting, exacerbated by its shoddy effort to shift blame to its source even as it admitted inaccuracies.

The extent of those inaccuracies is still being sorted out. But it’s not too soon to point to some possible casualties: the reputations of the university, of a fraternity named in the report and of journalism. The much-needed — the still much-needed — effort to reform how universities seek to prevent and respond to sexual assaults. And, most distressing, the future rape victims who may find themselves less believed — or who, out of fear that they won’t be believed, tragically will decide to stay silent.

What about the reputations of the people themselves who were accused? How about the fact that the entire Greek system, including sororities, were shut down by the school, despite knowing which specific fraternity was alleged to be involved, all with no due process, no criminal complaint, and no evidence other than a several years old allegation? Liberals on campus have created a situation where almost everything is considered sexual assault, they push for women to push sexual assault claims, they’ve gotten the schools to investigate and punish every belief that sexual assault occurred, regardless of evidence and denying due process, destroying reputations. They make a mockery of real instances of assault, which should go to law enforcement, not administration officials and student advocates.

Again, it is very strange that there is supposedly such a pervasive problem on campus when colleges are hotbeds of liberalism.

As the doubts and discrepancies are sorted out, here are some truths that must not get lost: Sexual assault, often associated with excessive alcohol consumption, is a scourge that, for far too long, has not been taken seriously enough by colleges and universities. The critical work of putting in place a system that effectively and fairly investigates allegations of sexual assaults, supports victims and provides for due process must continue with even more urgency.

That system is Law Enforcement. Not college officials, not students gathered to create a university tribunal.

To the university’s credit, it responded to Friday’s revelations with exactly the right message. “Despite doubts that have been cast on the Rolling Stone story, we need to keep our eyes on the prize, which is nothing less than zero tolerance for rape,” said Helen Dragas, a member of the university’s governing Board of Visitors. “Our primary concern must be for the well-being of our students. We need to get this right for them, and do so with no hesitation or concern for image.”

Why does it need to be a “prize” unless this exceedingly liberal university is coddling rapists? It shouldn’t be something we need to strive for. Rape is a criminal allegation, a felony, and any instances should immediately be turned over to the criminal justice system.

But, notice, this allegation, which is teetering over the cliff to being a completely false allegation is being turned into an overarching theme of “fake but accurate”, rather than noticing that this is probably a false allegation. This all needs to be a Big Issue which involves everyone. Yet, much of the problem will be glossed over. Like why so much sexual assault occurs on college campuses which are very liberal, which are run by liberals, staffed by liberals, have teachers which are liberals, and students who are liberals and are intolerant of students who aren’t. How these same liberals look to turn everything into sexual assault, even a stolen kiss. Consensual sex while drunk is considered sexual assault, and advocates, and now government (California) consider that rape, blaming the man and exonerating the female. Who may have been the aggressor, in some cases. Young people are taught by Liberals that “if it feels good, do it”, and then are surprised that failing to teach proper morals, personal responsibility, and restraint creates a dangerous atmosphere and lots of sexual assault.

Surprise: Chris Christie Exonerated Yet Again

Here’s how NJ.com’s reporter Steve Strunsky puts it

Christie bridge scandal report cannot determine if governor was involved

An interim report by the joint legislative panel investigating last year’s controversial lane closures at the George Washington Bridge could not determine if Gov. Chris Christie had any direct involvement, and suggests that a former aide to the governor, Bridget Anne Kelly, may have violated state law.

The report, reviewed by NJ Advance Media, also said it was not clear why Kelly sent an email directing a Christie-backed official at the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey to close the lanes and snarl traffic for five days in Fort Lee.

“At present, there is no conclusive evidence as to whether Governor Chris Christie was or was not aware of the lane closures either in advance of their implementation or contemporaneously as they were occurring,” the report states. “Nor is there conclusive evidence as to whether Governor Christie did or did not have involvement in implementing or directing the lane closures.”

In other words, this Democrat report can’t find any evidence that Christie was involved. So, of course, the language is highly tempered. Investigation after investigation has found Christie innocent of any involvement. Think we’ll hear this on the evening news? How about the NY Times? They put it on page A32, with a fair bit of spin. And this report itself was heavily spun to dismiss the findings, namely that the allegations were a bunch of mule fritters.

If Democrats have concrete evidence of wrongdoing, let’s hear it. Let’s see. Lord knows, I am not a fan of Christie. He’s fine as the NJ governor. He’s entirely too squishy to be the GOP presidential candidate for my liking. But, if you are going to accuse someone of wrongdoing, have some evidence, not politically motivated talking points.

This is what Democrats are doing to destroy political adversaries: lawfare. They’ve done it against Christie, Scott Walker, and many other Republicans. Interestingly, when Democrats actually break the law, Democrat concern seems to disappear.

Obama Really Wants Snowflakes To Learn About Hotcoldwetdry

I love the photo that starts off this US News And World Report article

Perhaps unable to convince older Americans of the severity of global warming, President Barack Obama is hoping to have better luck with the next generation by turning to the classroom.

The White House Office of Science and Technology Policy on Wednesday announced it will launch a new initiative aimed at climate education and literacy that will distribute science-based information – in line with the administration’s position on the issue – to students, teachers and the broader public.

Educators, government officials, philanthropic leaders and those from the private sector will participate in a roundtable discussion at the White House Wednesday. The participants will focus on how to spread more resources to teachers and increase professional development and training related to climate change for educators, federal employees and informal educators, such as those working in national parks, museums, aquariums or botanic gardens.

In other words, indoctrination. This matches well with an article from the hyper-Leftist UK Guardian

Tougher government attitudes on climate change key to business action

….

But do government attitudes to climate change influence corporate attitudes and practice on climate change?

We have recently completed a review of the climate change practices and processes of major retailers in the US and the UK. While certain of the sector’s activities and operations are regulated (ie vehicle efficiency standards) and others are influenced by wider climate change policy (ie through electricity prices), the sector’s overall emissions are not directly regulated, in either the US or the UK.

The basics of the article is that when government forces themselves on the public when it comes to “climate change”, business must adapt. Energy prices in the UK have skyrocketed, forcing businesses to adapt by reducing their energy usage. Of course, what is not mentioned is businesses cutting down on their employees and having to raise the prices on their goods and services.

Kevin noted yesterday that “It makes me sad that the bulk of our species is so gullible.” This is what Progressives/Leftists do: take an issue and push it and push it and push it. When they control the majority of the media, the education system, and government bureaucracy, they can make virtually anything happen, regardless of the reality. That’s how we end up with so many fools that have bought into the Hotcoldwetdry narrative. The story. The fable. Indoctrination? Check. Big Government control? Check.

I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again. Progressives take the long view. They make Orientals, who are renowned for their ability to take a long view, to shame. Over the last 100 years Progressives here in the US have made it so they control the majority of the media, education system, government bureaucracies, entertainment sector, and unions. You have many others within the tech and sports industries who proclaim to be Progressives and toe the line. Of course, most of these folks fail to practice what they preach, whether it is about climate change, giving, charity, and/or taxation. But, they mouth platitudes very well. And they do a good job in forcing their beliefs on others. Progressivism is a form of Fascism, and we can see it in the indoctrination and Big Government tyranny of the articles.
