Team Obama Really Wants To Know The Solution To Countering Violent Extremism Which Won’t Be Named

No, really. Here’s the official blog of the Department Of State, called DIPNOTE, a term that is probably only ironic to me, since we called stupid people dips where I grew up on the Jersey Shore

What Solutions Do You Think Are Most Critical To Countering Violent Extremism?

This week, the White House hosted a Summit to Counter Violent Extremism to highlight domestic and international efforts to prevent violent extremists and their supporters from radicalizing, recruiting, or inspiring individuals or groups in the United States and abroad to commit acts of violence.  These efforts have become even more imperative in light of recent, tragic attacks throughout the world. At the Summit, Secretary of State John Kerry said, “Our goal today is to take this chance to think broadly about how to prevent violent ideologies from taking hold, and how to prevent terrorist networks…from linking up with aggrieved groups elsewhere, and how to prevent them from thereby expanding their influence.”

Secretary Kerry described this effort as the “the defining fight of our generation” and a task not just for governments but everyone, including civil society, the faith community, foundations and philanthropists, and the private sector.  The Secretary urged the Summit participants to provide their ideas and suggestions on how we can counter violent extremism, and we ask you:

Wait, I thought John Kerry said that “climate change” was the most important fight of our generation? Anyhow, they have a wonderful graphic associated with the short blog post

So, apparently, you communities are teeming with potential extremists, and if you sit down with them in coffee shops and park benches everything will be super duper fine. To paraphrase Darleen Click, this is something one would expect from The Onion. This is the same kind of thing they push in Liberal urban areas, like Detroit, Baltimore, Birmingham, Chicago, Philly, etc, which all feature heavy amounts of crime, murder, and violence, and never seems to work.

Anyhow, the comments include plenty of good ideas, bad ideas, dumb ideas, and so on, but one consistent idea is

First we need to name them REGARDLESS OF WHO OR WHAT THEIR RELIGIOUS BELIEFS ARE. Then we have to go after them no matter where they are in the world. We also need to have not only a strategy but a plan to destroy them completely. I have decided to start carrying for my own protection because Obama and his Administration won’t do it. Hell they in fact keep releasing terrorist from Gitmo and prison. And most of them are going back home and back to fighting.

Also

Quit encouraging the radical extremists with “politically correct” speech(es) and inaction. Speak loudly and carry an extremely large club.

Fortunately, John Kerry and Team Obama actually have a plan, as John Kerry lets us know

Our Plan for Countering Violent Extremism

Show the world the power of peaceful communities, and tackle bad governance that breeds frustration.

So, Obama and all his appointees, including you, will be resigning immediately, Mr. Kerry? Seriously, that’s the first paragraph, and a apparently The Idea. Which led to the silly graphic.

The rise of violent extremism represents the pre-eminent challenge of the young 21st century. Military force is a rational and often necessary response to the wanton slaughters of children, mass kidnappings of schoolgirls, and beheading of innocents. But military force alone won’t achieve victory. In the long term, this war will be won only by deploying a broader, far more creative arsenal.

In all fairness, Islamic extremism cannot be defeated solely by military force, because Islamism is an idea based on 7th century Islamic belief, rather than any sort of national identity. That said, if you’re thinking Kerry avoids using the words Islam, Muslim, and Islamist, well, not quite

A safer and more prosperous future also requires us not to be distracted by divisions grounded in hatred or bias. There is no room in this fight for sectarian division. There is no room for Islamophobia or anti-Semitism. Violent extremism has claimed lives in every corner of the globe, and Muslim lives most of all. Each of us is threatened, regardless of ethnicity, faith or homeland. We must demonstrate to the terrorists that rather than divide us, their tactics unite us and strengthen our resolve.

The only mentions, and not meant to highlight that Islamists are the ones performing most terrorist acts and pushing an extremist viewpoint. And, I don’t really think the Islamists, such as ISIS, really care about our resolve or unity, especially when the Left shows they have no resolve to fight Islamist extremism, and their unity is about deflecting, distracting, and creating strawmen to combat any condemnation of the threat from people who will not be named.

A safer and more prosperous future requires us to recognize that violent extremism can’t be justified by resorting to religion.

It might be helpful to recognize who these people and groups are. Name them.

No legitimate religious interpretation teaches adherents to commit unspeakable atrocities, such as razing villages or turning children into suicide bombers.

So, now Kerry is going to tell the adherents of the religion that won’t be named about their religious beliefs. Marvelous.

These are the heinous acts of individuals who distort religion to serve their criminal and barbaric cause.

Au contraire, this is exactly what 7th Century Islam was about, and follows exactly what the Koran says.

Anyhow, if you think the entire plan is mostly contentless and worthless, you’d be right. He really does double down on his starting sentence, thinking the solution is good governance (have you asked Obama to resign yet, John? Will you be sailing the next time there is a major world event?) and Kumbaya. OK, last excerpt of snark (seriously, every paragraph could lead to snark. Pick your favorite)

This week’s summit won’t solve all these problems, but it can catalyze a global effort.

In case John missed it, repressive, violent, and extremist Islam has spread across the planet, with many nations being part of the problem. And the non-violent adherents are using our own laws, societies, and social mores against us.

BTW, when will Obama, Kerry, and the whole team be resigning in order to create better governance and eliminate frustration? Seriously, that line alone deserved a completely separate post.

The Perfect #JobsForJihadis

Because, obviously, the best way to stop jihad is to create jobs for them. Now, we could get them jobs as pig farmers. Or, they could do the jobs that Americans won’t.

But what’s the best idea?

Garbage men. Think about it. They can come around and greet each can with a hearty “Alahu Ackbar!” as they grab it forcefully. Then, when their round is done, they head to the landfill, dump their days work, and blow it up.

People drop off their old TVs and computers and stuff, they can blow that up, too. Or hit it with a sword. Or shoot it. They can truly exercise their violent tendencies away while performing a valuable service for which they not only get paid, but receive generous government benefits.

Warmists Continue Propagating Notion That Cold Is Caused By Heat

There was a time when Science would have reached out and smacked down idiocy like this. Now it’s more like “science”

Climate change driving brutal winter?

Prolonged cold snaps on the East Coast, California drought and frozen mornings in the South all have something in common — the atmospheric jet stream that transports weather systems that’s taken to meandering all over North America.

Rutgers University climate scientist Jennifer Francis and colleagues link that wavy jet stream to a warming Arctic, where climate changes near the top of the world are happening faster than in Earth’s middle latitudes.

A new study from Francis and University of Wisconsin-Madison scientist Stephen Vavrus, published in IOPscience, backs up that theory, with evidence linking regional and seasonal conditions in the Arctic to deeper north-south jet stream waves that will lead to more extreme weather across the country.

“The real story is how persistent the pattern has been. It’s been this way nearly continually since December 2013…Warm in the west, cold in the east,” Francis said. “We think with the warming Arctic these types of very wavy patterns, although probably not in the same locations, will happen more often in the future.”

There’s always an excuse from these people, like 5 year olds caught standing next to a broken lamp. Their models weren’t cooperating, weather happens, some areas have been having brutal winters, and they had to find a way to blame weather, especially cold and snowy weather, on Mankind.

Fortunately for them, there are more than enough dupes, to put it nicely, who’ll immediately buy into this poppycock, and defend it.

Straight Aide To Tammy Baldwin May Sue For Sexual Discrimination

Get the popcorn ready

(Milwaukee Wisconsin Journal Sentinel) A former top staffer to U.S. Sen. Tammy Baldwin has rejected a proposed severance deal that would have required her to remain silent regarding what she knew about the problems at the troubled Tomah VA Medical Center.

Now Marquette Baylor, ex-deputy state director for Baldwin and chief of her Milwaukee office, has hired a team of attorneys to explore litigation for wrongful termination or sexual discrimination. A source said Baylor believes she was one of the highest ranking heterosexuals on Baldwin’s staff.

Baldwin is the first openly gay member of the U.S. Senate.

No Quarter reported that Baldwin canned Baylor on Jan. 22 in response to the growing controversy at the troubled Tomah VA Medical Center. Baylor made $80,000 in 2014.

Baldwin was apparently sitting on information regarding a scandal at the Tomah facility, and perhaps made Baylor a scapegoat. The thing is, Baldwin’s office won’t even acknowledge that Baylor was canned. One has to wonder why a fired employee is being offered a severance package with a cash payout and a confidentiality agreement.

Anyway, Baldwin has all sorts of LGBT protections against improper treatment, firing for being LGBT, but, apparently not for being straight.

Bummer: Illegal Aliens Whine About Feeling Stuck After Judge Blocks Obama’s Immigration Schtick

Aww, poor little illegal aliens

Immigrants feel stuck after judge blocks Obama orders

Brenda Armendariz, her husband and their two Mexico-born children were hoping to resolve their constant fears of being deported after President Barack Obama issued his latest executive orders on immigration.

But now that a federal judge in Texas has blocked Obama’s efforts to protect four million more immigrants, her family is disillusioned and her children feel stuck as the president’s offer of temporary legal status moves frustratingly beyond their reach.

Should we go with a sarcastic, “aww, poor babies”, or a more realistic “Tough sh!t”?

About a third of the immigrants now living in the United States illegally would be eligible for temporary protection if Obama’s latest orders are upheld in court, either because they were brought to the U.S. as children or because their own children have legal status in the country.

But the advances and retreats on reform have been so frequent over the years that many thousands of immigrants who are already eligible for protection have given up for now — they aren’t applying for the work permits and Social Security numbers they are entitled to under Obama’s first executive order in 2012.

Good. They should not be here in the first place. It matters little how nice they are, what their aspirations and dreams are.

Armendariz and her husband came to Tucson a decade ago with a son and daughter, meaning to stay just long enough to earn some cash and head home to the Mexican state of Sonora. Instead, they overstayed their visas and settled down. Those children are now 21 and 13, joined by two American citizen siblings: a 3-year-old boy and a one-month-old girl.

So, they voluntarily overstayed their visas, meaning they were intentionally breaking the law. Yet, we’re supposed to feel sorry for them? And reward them? If you voluntarily drive drunk and crash into someone’s car, you aren’t going to get a pat on the head and a gift of $22,000.

Aguirre Armendariz had to drop out of community college her freshman year because her family couldn’t afford the out-of-state tuition that immigrants lacking legal status must pay in Arizona. She was studying engineering and wants to go back to school, but is stuck helping her mom make and sell tortillas and bread.

Sorry, no sympathy. There are lots of folks who pay out of state tuition. I did. And said illegals were soaking up taxpayer money used to fund those community colleges, which may have been used for legal citizens.

Armendariz’s 13-year-old boy is still in public school and had his hopes set on Disneyland, but those too were dashed; driving far from home remains too risky and expensive, she said.

Whose fault is that? The judges? The citizens who oppose any sort of amnesty? Or the parents who willing broke the law, and now demand that the U.S. cowtow to them? Perhaps there might not be so much opposition if illegals were humble about their plight, rather than demanding while throwing out sob stories.

‘ISIS sets sights on Libya as gateway to eventual invasion of Europe’

Rather a bit heavy on the terrorism in the world today, rather than my normal Hotcoldwetdry schtick. Headline is directly from the Jerusalem Post

Islamic State has set its sights on taking over Libya as a bridgehead to eventually waging war all across southern Europe, the British Telegraph is reporting on Wednesday.

The newspaper cited letters written by ISIS supporters.

According to the report, ISIS jihadists plan to “flood Libya with militiamen from Syria and Iraq, who will then sail across the Mediterranean posing as migrants on people-trafficking vessels.”

ISIS “would then run amok in southern European cities and also try to attack maritime shipping,” the Telegraph reported.

Pretty big aspirations for the “JV team”, eh?

Citigroup To Waste $100 Billion On “Climate Change”

No, I did not make a mistake and substitute a b for an m

(UK Guardian) Citigroup, the third largest US financial institution, on Wednesday said it will invest a whopping $100bn over the next decade to reduce the impacts of climate change. The bank said it will use the money the finance green initiatives and sustainable growth.

The global financial corporation’s CEO Michael Corbat made the announcement at a breakfast gathering of stakeholders, employees and partner organizations in New York.

The money will be used to finance large renewable-energy projects, for example, to aid greener affordable housing and to finance municipal infrastructure to reduce water waste and more, says Valerie Smith, director of corporate sustainability at Citigroup.

It will also be used to help Citigroup reduce the environmental impacts of its global operations and supply chain, and to help its clients address environmental risks, according to Corbat’s prepared statement.

Warmists, who are primarily Leftists, constantly complain about low wages. They’re out there agitating for a higher minimum wage, preferably $15 an hour. They have all sorts of economic complaints. Think about what $1 billion a year could do for lower wage employees of Citigroup, rather than pissing it away of Hotcoldwetdry measures. Consider what all the money pissed away by companies and governments for Hotcoldwetdry could do.

NY Times: Say, That Obamacare Penalty Is Rather Burdensome

The NY Times Editorial Board is rather upset about the Ocare penalty, and writes about “when one penalty is enough“, coming up with an solution quickly

Millions of Americans may be in for a shock when they file tax returns and learn that they have to pay a fine for failing to enroll in health insurance in 2014 and an even bigger fine for failing to enroll in 2015 before the enrollment period ended on Feb. 15. While there is nothing they can do to avoid the 2014 fine, which must be paid this year, they could avoid the 2015 fine, payable next year, if the Obama administration allowed them more time to enroll.

Oh, see, that’s so simple! Give people who aren’t planning on signing up more time to sign up!

The government should open a special enrollment period that lasts beyond April 15, the traditional filing time for most taxpayers. That would be fair to millions of consumers who remain uninformed about the health care law and ignorant about the subsidies it provides and the penalties for failing to enroll. And it would strengthen implementation of health care reform.

Did the NY Times just call many Americans stupid? Well, in all fairness, anyone who is unaware of Ocare is stupid.

The Affordable Care Act requires most Americans to obtain health insurance or, with some exceptions, pay a fine, which is assessed at the time they pay their income taxes. For individual adults who failed to enroll in 2014, the fine is $95 or 1 percent of applicable yearly income, whichever is higher. For individuals who failed to enroll in 2015, the fine will jump to $325 or 2 percent of applicable yearly income, to be paid when taxes are filed next year. That is a big jump that will hurt many people on modest incomes. The fines leap even higher the following year.

Here’s an idea: do away with the Mandate!

Here’s the problem: many people may be hit with Ocare penalties because they switched jobs. I left my job in August, started a new one in September. I had to be there 90 days before I was eligible to enroll in their health insurance plan. That means I was without (sadly) for over 3 months. And, since I said (blank) this place, I’m out (for several reasons), and resigned, obtaining a job at a company that wasn’t long on promises, short on delivery, and doesn’t have a manager who just barely skirted the legal definition of “hostile workplace”. Will I get hit with the penalty? Well, I have to fill out a big old form and submit it to find out.

Anyhow, one liberal commenter has an idea

If people don’t comply with the state’s wishes, the state should crush them like a bug.

Liberal World.

The NYTs celebrates big government tyranny. Succumb to an insipid wholly-partisan “law” that the president has unilaterally and unconstitutionally altered over 15 times…or else.

Of course they do. And the solution is apparently extend the signup period.
