World Bank President: We Totally Need To Tackle “Climate Change”… For The Kids

It’s always most amusing when Warmists, who tend to hold a Progressive (nice fascist) ideology, one which is considered far to the Left, start yammering about something being “for the kids”. Theres are the same folks who fully endorse abortion on demand for any reason and on any whim. And we’re supposed to use taxpayer money to pay for it. We’re only supposed to indoctrinate, er, educate kids in Government schools. Well, Other People’s kids, that is. We’re supposed to do this and that “for the kids”, such as opening the borders. Tackling Climate Change — For Our Kids

If you have children or grandchildren, you probably have wondered what the world will be like for them in 20 or 30 years. Will it be a better place? Will climate change upend their lives?

It’s something I have thought about a lot since I became the president of the World Bank Group in July 2012. Within my first few months on the job, I was briefed on an upcoming climate change report, and the findings shocked me. I knew then that tackling climate change would be one of my top priorities as the leader of a development institution whose mission is ending extreme poverty by 2030 and boosting shared prosperity. If we don’t start controlling climate change, the mission to end poverty will fail.

The linking of “controlling climate change” (yup, nuttbaggery) with poverty is just the latest attempt to force “climate change” legislation (treaties, agreements, etc), following on notions such as sustainability and diversity and many others.

Mr. Kim then goes on to highlight a UN IPCC computer model (snicker) which spells out DOOOOOOOOM if we don’t Do Something, despite the fact that 95% of the models have failed. And, of course, blames every weather event on Hotcoldwetdry, taking the party line of extreme weather and bigger and badder storms. In contradiction of real world data, of course. This leads to

We need a plan for the planet.

And the world needs to put the brakes on climate change. But any plan to tackle climate change can’t sacrifice economic growth if we hope to end extreme poverty, reduce inequality, and ensure that poor people gain access to energy.

We need to decouple growth from carbon emissions.

Huh. Interesting. If that’s the case, will Mr. Kim forgo his own use of fossil fuels? He’s certainly spent quite a bit of time jet setting around the world. Will he demand that all who attend the Managing the Carbon Bubble event on April 15th not use fossil fueled travel? Anyway, he has 5 ideas to “decouple growth from carbon emissions” (despite this being unscientific terminology, as we are discussing CO2)

  • Put a price on carbon. (despite virtually every carbon market collapsing.
  • Phase out fossil fuel subsidies. (of course, they are mostly tax breaks, not subsidies, and every country which relies on fossil fuels has a much higher standard of living than those who don’t)
  • Encourage energy efficiency and renewable energy. (left unsaid is that this would be enforced by Big Government under penalty of law)
  • Build low-carbon cities. (he really wants this for “developing countries”, which would still have no actual economic activity, just destitute people living in hovels in cities)
  • Enable climate-smart agriculture. (seriously, these people can’t build a website (among others), do you want them in charge of food production?)

He ends with

These five areas of action could help the world get off the path toward 4 degree of warming. For our part, the World Bank Group is trying to build climate change considerations into everything we do, because we know that if we don’t confront climate change, there will be no hope of ending poverty or boosting shared prosperity. The longer we delay, the higher the cost will be to do the right thing for our planet and our children.

Notice that nowhere does he recommend that…..yup, here it comes!….Warmists forgo their own use of fossil fuels. Nor does he even recommend eliminating the use of fossil fuels. The first two, carbon markets and fossil fuels “subsidies” would benefit the rich, who wouldn’t be bothered much by purchasing carbon offsets (which is like paying a speeding ticket for Bad Behavior rather than giving up speeding) nor the massive rise in the cost of living due to the large increase in the cost of fossil fuels. If it’s “for the kids”, Warmists should immediately give up fossil fuels and make their own lives “carbon neutral”.

Washington Post Very Concerned Over Child Suspended For A Year

Your first thought was probably “finally, a newspaper that is concerned about all the idiotic suspensions for kids who do something like make a pop tart gun or makes a gun with their fingers or something”. Nope. Here’s the Editorial Board

The weed that wasn’t

THE NEWS is full of instances in which deficits in common sense produce bad outcomes. But rarely is the deficit so clear, or the outcome so wretched, as in the case of a sixth-grade boy in Bedford County, Va., who received a year-long suspension from school for possessing a single leaf of marijuana — which, on closer inspection, turned out not to be marijuana at all.

The pupil, who is 11, was enrolled in a gifted-and-talented program not far from Roanoke when an assistant principal found the leaf in his backpack in September. Leave aside the possibility — hardly remote in middle school — that the leaf may have been planted as a prank, which the boy’s parents suspect is the case; the leaf was not in dried, smokable form, and there is no suggestion that the boy smoked, sold or purchased this particular leaf — or any other.

The boy was suspended for a year and charged in juvenile court with possession. Then, whoops, they realized that it wasn’t even marijuana. But, the school did not back down, noting that policy prohibits imitation drugs. The parents, both teachers (who would probably freak out if a kid made “bang bang” sounds) sued the school and the sheriff’s department. The school ordered the child to undergo a substance abuse evaluation.

“But by then,” wrote Dan Casey, who broke the story in the Roanoke Times, “the boy had other problems.” His parents says he now suffers from depression and panic attacks and fears being in public. Hardly surprising if you remember that this is an 11-year-old.

He was finally allowed to return to school, but a different one, and is on super-secret double probation, meaning, one slip up, and he’s out.

Whatever damage that single leaf could have done, even if it had been marijuana, cannot possibly compare to the harm that has resulted from the school system’s policies and actions. The real question is: Why couldn’t anyone in Bedford County figure that out?

This begs the question: why hasn’t the Washington Post EB stood up for all the kids treated in the same manner when it comes to fake guns, made with fingers, pop tarts, cookies, as well as water pistols?

Six Flags Great Adventure To Cut Down 18k Trees For Solar Panels

Sadly, this is serious

A theme park plans to cut down more than 18,000 trees for the construction of what it says will be the largest solar farm in New Jersey.

Six Flags Great Adventure says the facility will generate 21.9 megawatts, or enough to power about 3,100 homes, and capable of meeting all of the park’s needs.

This is modern “environmentalism”. They say it will cut down on the park’s fossil fuels usage. Do they realize that 99.99% of the people working at the park and visiting the park come in fossil fuels vehicles? Growing up at the Jersey Shore, I’ve done that myself many times. It was about a 25 minute drive. But, hey, they’re (supposedly) going to plant 25,000 trees over the next 7 years.

Crazy Democrat Worries About Racism …. Of Colleagues 18 Month Old Son

You know all those times that you saw someone else’s child, and smiled at them, and they shyly hid away? Yeah, that’s racism

(The Blaze) Audio and video has emerged showing Indiana state Rep. Vanessa Summers (D-Indianapolis) going after one of her Republican colleague’s 18-month-old son in attempt to make a point about prejudice during a recent House floor debate over the state’s controversial “religious freedom bill.”

While making her case against the Religious Freedom Restoration Act earlier this week, Summers said of GOP Rep. Jud McMillin’s young son, “I love his little son, but he’s scared of me because of my color — and that’s horrible.”

Or, it could be that your an overbearing nutjob. But, mostly because kids are often shy around strangers

Lawmakers could be heard gasping and groaning at the comment.

“It’s true,” Summers said defiantly. “And that’s something we are going to work on. … I asked him please, ‘Introduce your child to some people of color so he won’t live his life as a prejudice person.’ I would like for you all to not vote for this bill.”

Maybe the child could smell the stench of political corruption and insanity.

Even after the hearing, Summers stood by her comments about her colleague’s son displaying racist behavior.

“He looked at me like I was a monster and turned around and cried. And I told him you need to introduce your child to some people that are dark-skinned so he will not be scared,” she told the Indy Star.

Someone needs to get over herself. The fact that she used a colleagues child in her diatribe shows that she’s a vicious person.

McMillan, who is white, rushed in to defend his son from the “unfortunate” comments, saying, “if he reacted the same way he reacts with anybody brand new, he buries his head in his dad’s shoulder.”

He reacted like so many kids? The hell you say! Should McMillan even have to “defend” an 18 month old child? Of course not. But, Democrats have no problem going after kids if it benefits them politically. The racism is in Summer’s head, not the child’s.

Millions Will Switch Off Their Lights For Earth Hour, Then Go Right Back To Their Big Electricty Ways

The Cult Of Climastrology continues its hypocritical ways

Earth hour: millions will switch off lights around the world for climate action

The UN secretary general, Ban Ki-moon, has said hundreds of millions of Earth hour participants around the world will demand a strong global climate agreement by switching off their lights for an hour on Saturday night.

Many of the world’s brightest lights will go dark at 8:30pm (GMT) as Earth hour marks its ninth year. In a video address, Ban said the symbolic switching-off held more significance than ever, just nine months before a pivotal UN meeting on the climate crisis in Paris.

“Climate change is a people problem. People cause climate change and people suffer from climate change. People can also solve climate change. This December in Paris, the United Nations is bringing nations together to agree a new, universal and meaningful climate agreement. It will be the culmination of a year of action on sustainable development,” said Ban.

So, what we have is hundreds of millions of CoC members going about their regular lives for 8764 hours a year, then turning their lights off (supposedly) for a meager one hour, all to spread awareness of an issue which they themselves will not take action within their own lives. Go figure.

Organisers said this year’s demonstration would be the biggest yet. Sudhanshu Sarronwala, chair of Earth Hour global said: “Climate change is not just the issue of the hour, it’s the issue of our generation. The lights may go out for one hour, but the actions of millions throughout the year will inspire the solutions required to change climate change.”

Said solutions involve forcing Other People to comply with the political belief sets of the CoC, but never for themselves. BTW, can Sarronwala let us know what the correct temperature for the Earth is?

And there are plenty more like that, headlines that ironically highlight what the CoC will cause: blackouts, brownouts, forced turning off of lights, people unable to afford to keep the lights on thanks to the (political) prescriptions for “fixing” climate change. Earth Hour cancelled

Organisers of Earth Hour have cancelled the event due to a rainy forecast.

The glum weekend forecast was due to be held on Sunday after being postponed from tonight but the decision to cancel the event altogether was made last night.

“In line with ensuring we were delivering a sustainable event we had to consider the risk of food vendors organising food that could have gone to waste if rain occurs and participation was low,” says sustainability advisor Michelle Elborn.

“In addition we have considered the safety of the stage and equipment. This was not a light decision and all the organisers are disappointed, in-particular to not be screening the Enspire youth video finalists.”

So, Warmists are afraid of a little rain? And were apparently going to use electricity for their events, rather than switching everything off?

The technology liberated by fossil fuels allows us to live a longer and better life. You can now have fresh vegetables from all over the planet and not having to live off canned vegetables that I had to eat back in the 1930s – 1950s.

The Competitive Enterprise Institute invites you to celebrate “Human Achievement Hour” by turning on your lights from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. TODAY, March 28. This celebration of human progress and advancement is an alternative to “Earth Hour,” the annual event calling on people and business to turn off their lights for an hour as a symbolic gesture against climate change.

In contrast, Earth Hour wants you to live like the people in the 17th century — dying young, starving, working yourself to death with manual labor, etc.

Personally, I do not support turning on all lights, it is wasteful. I’ll just have my normal lights on, reflecting on the fact that I can walk over to a switch and flick it when needed, and lights come on. I’ll celebrate a modern lifestyle, while Warmists can celebrate in the manner so many people in many parts of the world live, electricity free. Though Warmists will go back to their big electricity lives at 9:31pm, and go another 8764 hours with their big carbon footprint lives.

Earth Hour: Do Nothing And Feel Good About It

It’s that time of year again: On Saturday, March 28, at 8:30 p.m. local time, each and every one of us are called upon to do our part, to sacrifice for the planet, to raise awareness about climate change by turning off our lights for ONE ENTIRE HOUR. It’s time … for EARTH HOUR.

Literally doing virtually nothing, just like the other 8764 hours. It’s just that for this one hour, Cult Of Climastrology members can feel good, instead of their daily angst about their massive carbon footprints, driving a fossil fueled vehicle, the failure of government to force Other People to comply.

Mississippi Dems Find Creative Way To Complain About School Vouchers For Special Needs Kids

Mississippi is looking to help out kids with special needs

(Fox News) Parents with special-needs kids in Mississippi could soon use taxpayer dollars to send them to faith-based schools, under a new bill approved by the state Legislature on Thursday.

The legislation would allow parents with disabled children to take them out of public school and put them into a religious academic institution, with the help of government vouchers. The bill, which already passed the House, cleared the Senate on Thursday and now heads to Gov. Phil Bryant — who is expected to sign it.

Mississippi Department of Education spokesperson Patrice Guilfoyle said there are more than 66,000 students identified with disabilities in Mississippi, ranging from ages 3-21, as of November 2014.

The bill provides vouchers worth about $6,000 for 500 students per year,for five years. The graduation rate for special-needs students in the state is about 23 percent — compared with nearly 75 percent for students without special needs.

Who could possibly be against giving special needs kids a chance in a learning environment that would benefit them greatly?

Critics, however, say Senate Bill 2695 — The Equal Opportunity for Students with Special Needs Act — is unconstitutional because it conflicts with the separation between church and state.

“I personally don’t think it’s constitutional,” said Mississippi state Rep. Jeramey Anderson, a Democrat. “You’re taking public money and putting it into the hands of citizens. You’re really allowing private schools to dip into a public fund.”

The National Education Association –which is the largest labor union in the country with nearly 3,000,000 members– is against school voucher programs because they “tend to be a means of circumventing the Constitutional prohibitions against subsidizing religious practice and instruction,” according to their website.

How cute. A bunch of mularky, but cute. Liberals will invent any excuse to keep the power within their liberal education system, even to the detriment of children.
