Obama Vows To Keep Fighting For Illegal Aliens

For legal U.S. citizens? Not so much

(The Hill) President Obama vowed Saturday to keep fighting for undocumented immigrants despite actions by Republicans and some judges to derail his executive orders.

“I’m going to keep doing everything I can to make our immigration system more just and more fair,” Obama said in his weekly address Saturday, marking Immigrant Heritage Month.

Obama said he took action last November to provide more resources for border security and to modernize the legal immigration system to bring illegal immigrants “out of the shadows.”

“Some folks are still fighting against these actions,” he said. “I’m going to keep fighting for them. Because the law is on our side. It’s the right thing to do. And it will make America stronger.”

Let’s not forget

Late last month, a federal appeals court panel refused to lift a Texas judge’s injunction that prevents Obama’s immigration plan from being implemented. Obama’s orders would defer deportations for as many as five million people who are in the United States illegally.

In other words, the judges found Obama’s executive orders illegal. The law sure seems to disagree with his actions.

As far as “fair”, fair to whom? How does any of this help the American population? Oh, sure, I understand that this will surely help the Democratic Party’s election chances, but, how does this help We The People? How does releasing over 3,700 Level 1 illegals, those deemed top priority for deportation, back into the populace?

How does being squishy on illegal aliens help? Are we supposed to feel bad for the illegal who was running a puppy mill (she’s from the U.K.)? Or the one who was just convicted for kidnapping? Or, how about the one given executive amnesty who is facing charges of child molestation and pornography? What’s that? You say Obama’s only releasing good ones? How about

Documents provided to the House Judiciary Committee for a hearing last month show that ICE released 30,558 convicted criminal illegal aliens in Fiscal Year 2014. Convictions range from homicide, battery, kidnapping, sexual assault and larceny. Nearly 14,000 were convicted of driving under the influence of liquor.

How many criminal illegals must We The People deal with? How much crime must we deal with? Our jails are full of these criminal illegals. Why must we put up with deflated wages caused by illegals? Why must our roads be in danger? Why must we be in danger? Why must we worry about our identities being stolen by these illegals? Illegal immigration, whether it be people who cross the borders illegally or overstay their visas, is not a victimless crime.

This is all wrapped up in his weekly address which is supposedly about “celebrating immigrant heritage month“.

I want us to remember people like Ann Dermody from Alexandria, Virginia.  She’s originally from Ireland and has lived in America legally for years.  She worked hard, played by the rules and dreamed of becoming a citizen.  In March, her dream came true.  And before taking the oath, she wrote me a letter.  “The papers we receive…will not change our different accents [or] skin tones,” Ann said.  “But for that day, at least, we’ll feel like we have arrived.”

Well, to Ann and immigrants like her who have come to our shores seeking a better life – yes, you have arrived.  And by sharing our stories, and staying true to our heritage as a nation of immigrants, we can keep that dream alive for generations to come.

Ann did it correctly, and then this chump links her doing it the right way with all the people who haven’t.

$150 Billion Plan Launched To Save The World From Hotcoldwetdry

I wonder where the money will come from?

(UK Independent) Scientists and economists have joined forces to launch a global research initiative to make green energy cheaper than coal within 10 years, a target they believe is critical to avoid dangerous climate change. They have compared the goal to the Apollo programme of the 1960s when the United States stated that it would put a man on the Moon by the end of the decade.

Even though they are doing this for a fake reason based on junk scie
nce, I’d be fore eliminating the need for coal.

Leading academics, including former government chief scientist Sir David King, past president of the Royal Society Lord Rees, and economists Lord Stern and Lord Layard, in effect said that the world cannot be saved from global warming unless coal – the dirtiest fossil fuel – is put out of business.

They have called the plan the Global Apollo Programme and hope to recruit countries from around the world in an international commitment to boost research and development into key areas of renewable energy, storage and electricity transmission.

So, they want to use Other People’s money, not their own. Anyone shocked?

It states that there is a “shocking underspend” on global research and development aimed at renewable energy – amounting to just 2 per of total global public funding on research. This needs to be boosted from $6bn (£4bn) a year to at least $15bn a year, the report says.

On has to wonder why they don’t pay for it themselves? Why do Other People have to pay for their belief sets? Oh, right, because this initiative will put money in their own pockets from government.

One also has to wonder if these folks have given up their own use of fossil fuels

NOAA Massages Data To Erase Inconvenient Warming Pause

It’s very inconvenient that the Great Pause has lengthened to 18 years and 6 months, per RSS (which, suddenly, Warmists do not like). To cover for the lack of warming, which was even noted by Kevin Trenberth in the Climategate emails (“The fact is that we can’t account for the lack of warming at the moment and it is a travesty that we can’t.”), the Cult of Climastrology has come up with over 70 excuses, most of which tend to blame natural variability. NOAA went a different route

(Daily Caller) National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration scientists have found a solution to the 15-year “pause” in global warming: They “adjusted” the hiatus in warming out of the temperature record.

New climate data by NOAA scientists doubles the warming trend since the late 1990s by adjusting pre-hiatus temperatures downward and inflating temperatures in more recent years.

“Newly corrected and updated global surface temperature data from NOAA’s [National Centers for Environmental Information] do not support the notion of a global warming ‘hiatus,’” wrote NOAA scientists in their study presenting newly adjusted climate data.

To increase the rate in warming, NOAA scientists put more weight on certain ocean buoy arrays, adjusted ship-based temperature readings upward, and slightly raised land-based temperatures as well. Scientists said adjusted ship-based temperature data “had the largest impact on trends for the 2000-2014 time period, accounting for 0.030°C of the 0.064°C trend difference.” They added that the “buoy offset correction contributed 0.014°C… to the difference, and the additional weight given to the buoys because of their greater accuracy contributed 0.012°C.”

This is what they call “science”. Just fabricate the Pause away!

But that’s not all NOAA did to increase the warming trend in recent decades. Climate expert Bob Tisdale and meteorologist Anthony Watts noted that to “manufacture warming during the hiatus, NOAA adjusted the pre-hiatus data downward.”

“If we subtract the [old] data from the [new] data… we can see that that is exactly what NOAA did,” Tisdale and Watts wrote on the science blog Watts Up With That.

Greg “Blocking Everyone Who Doesn’t Agree” Laden provides a laughable take from the Warmist side

There is, however, variation as the earth’s surface temperature steadily rises as the result of the human release of greenhouse gas pollution. Every now and then that variation results in a period of several years when the rise in global temperature is relatively slow, and a recent such period has been termed a “hiatus” or “pause.” But that signifier mainly comes from those who deny the reality of global warming, and is often used by them as an argument that global warming is somehow not real. It is real, and they are wrong.

In other words, nature is responsible for pauses and slowdowns, Mankind is solely responsible for warming. This is the Cult of Climastrology in a nutshell. They have a tough time explaining why the same natural conditions which cause the Pause/slowdown cannot be responsible for the warming. Heck, they don’t even try. They just throw out insults. Then they block you on Twitter for asking inconvenient questions.

Via Climate Depot, we read

Key pitfalls of the paper:
-The authors have produced adjustments that are at odds with other all other surface temperature datasets, as well as those compiled via satellite.
-They do not include any data from the Argo array that is the world’s best coherent data set on ocean temperatures.
-Adjustments are largely to sea surface temperatures (SST) and appear to align ship measurements of SST with night marine air temperature (NMAT) estimates, which have their own data bias problems.
-The extend of the largest SST adjustment made over the hiatus period, supposedly to reflect a continuing change in ship observations (from buckets to engine intake thermometers) is not justified by any evidence as to the magnitude of the appropriate adjustment, which appears to be far smaller.

This is all just another attempt to protect the Cult of Climastrology, continue the funding gravy train, continue the scaremongering, and continue pushing for more taxation and governmental control of individuals, private entities, and economies. Progressivism at work, pushed by people who refuse to give up their own fossil fuels usage and go “carbon neutral” in their own lives.

ISIS Now Has Main Battle Tanks, Howitzers

This is the price of simply abandoning Iraq, after Obama blew up the Status of Forces agreement, along with refusing to do more than the utter minimum to stop the growth of ISIS from the get go

(The Fiscal Times) One of the earliest major setbacks in the war against ISIS came last June when the U.S.-backed Iraqi army was routed by Islamic militants in the northern Iraq city of Mosul. Government forces retreated from the Islamic jihadists’ assault. They left behind a trove of costly military hardware, including U.S.-made armored Humvees, trucks, rockets, machine guns and even a helicopter.

Last weekend, the new Iraqi prime minister, Haider al-Abadi, gave Iraqi state television the first detailed accounting of those lost weapons. Some were old or barely functioning, but others were in good shape and of great value to the ISIS militants.

According to Reuters, the U.S.-made weaponry that fell into enemy hands including 2,300 Humvee armored vehicles, at least 40 M1A1 main battle tanks, 74,000 machine guns, and as many as 52 M198 howitzer mobile gun systems, plus small arms and ammunition.

The grand total comes to $656.4 million, but experts say those losses represent just a portion of the many hundreds of millions of dollars’ worth of U.S.-supplied military equipment that has fallen into ISIS’s hands and is being used against the U.S. and allied forces on the ground in Iraq and neighboring Syria.

ISIS has continuously added to that inventory with the fall of other Iraqi cities, as well as all the armaments, mostly of Soviet design, taken from Syria. Heck of a job, Brownie, er, Obama!

Good News: Baltimore Pastors Have A Plan To Stop All The Violence

There were two killed and at least other shootings in Baltimore on Tuesday. May was essentially a record breaker for Baltimore when it comes to murders. What to do?

(Baltimore Sun) Pastors and other community organizers plan to walk some of Baltimore’s most violent blocks on weekend nights from 8 p.m. until 1 a.m. this summer.

Midnight basketball tournaments and a new community center for children named for Freddie Gray not far from Gilmor Homes, where he was arrested, are aimed at uniting the city. Gray, 25, died from an injury sustained in police custody prompting protests and rioting.

On Father’s Day, the Rev. Jamal H. Bryant wants to lead a rally through the streets — clergy, gang members and children alike — bearing coffins, a solemn “visual reminder” of the violence. Baltimore recorded 43 homicides in May, the worst month Baltimore has seen in 40 years.

And right there it breaks down. Gang members? How in the heck are they supposed to be a part of the solution? They are part of the problem.

Clergy invited to Baltimore on Tuesday the Rev. Jeffrey Brown, who led the Boston TenPoint Coalition, a faith-based crime-fighting effort that helped drop that city’s homicides from 152 in 1990 to 31 in 1999, in what many called the “Boston Miracle.” Brown led a “street training” in Baltimore on how to best engage young people.

Brown said clergy must take their roles in the community to heart to change the culture on the streets.

While I applaud the initiative, the Boston one is the outlier. These usually fail (see Detroit, Camden, Birmingham, Atlanta, Baltimore, etc), hence the reason to try them again and again and again and again, etc and so on. Why the need to continuously have marches and demonstrations and programs and such in these liberal/Democratic Black areas? As the comments point out, “where were they 43 murders ago?” Why is it that, even with heavy policing, Baltimore is a violent city? Why is there no need for all these programs and demonstrations and marches and such in Conservative areas?

Of course, even mentioning this is surely raaaaacist, as is discussing the real issues and real solutions.

Vox: Game Of Thrones Is Like Secretly About “Climate Change”, Ya Know!

This isn’t the first time that a member of the Cult of Climastrology has linked Game Of Thrones to Hotcoldwetdry. Many, many wackadoodle Warmists have played this game. Here we have Voxers Christophe Haubursin and Zack Beauchamp trying to Voxsplain

Game of Thrones is secretly all about climate change

Did you know that Game of Thrones is secretly about the world’s terrible failure to stop climate change? Well, it is, and this video explains why: (you’re welcome to hit the link and watch the very sad video, which probably breaks a bunch of copyright laws)

The show’s much more entertaining stand-in for climate change is the White Walkers, the north-of-the-Wall monsters that command a gigantic zombie army.

The White Walkers are a threat to all humanity: their zombie minions are equally happy to rip apart people of all nations and noble houses. Yet instead of uniting to combat the shared threat to human existence itself, the noble houses in the show spend basically all their time on their own petty disagreements and struggle for power. White Walkers are generally ignored; some nobles deny their existence outright.

Swap climate change for White Walkers and “countries” for noble houses, and it starts to sound a lot like the real world. (snip)

The big wars in Game of Thrones — the Baratheon-Targaryen-Stark-Tyrell-Lannister free-for-all — are basically supposed to stand-in for these complications. All of these noble houses are focused on their short-term interests, but pursuing them is blocking the real problem: stopping White Walkers and their zombie army. Likewise, CO2 emissions skyrocketed in the past 100 years — with potentially catastrophic consequences for the human race.

BTW, here’s what the writer of Game of Thrones, George R.R. Martin, had to say on the subject

Finally, in a stunning revelation, when an audience member put the ridiculous question, “JRR Tolkien strenuously denied that his books were in any way an allegory for World War II, have you ever been accused of writing about climate change by proxy? You know, it being a bit of a thing in your works, the long Winter?” George replied, “No, I haven’t, not until now,” and continued, “Like Tolkien I do not write allegory, at least not intentionally. Obviously you live in the world and you’re affected by the world around you, so some things sink in on some level, but, if I really wanted to write about climate change in the 21st century I’d write a novel about climate change in the 21st century.

So, no, it’s not about “climate change”, but, reality has never stopped the CoC.

Surprise: Warmists Want Private Sector To Pony Up For Climate Change Redistribution Policy

How dare I and other Skeptics say that the “climate change” movement is all about far left Progressive (nice fascist) policies! We’re just crazy in thinking there’s a link

Private sector must pay more into $100bn global climate fund, says report
World Resources Institute advises businesses as well as governments to increase funding to enable poor countries to cut emissions and rebuild infrastructure

The global target of directing $100bn to poor countries to help them cope with climate change is likely to be missed unless private sector finance is ramped up significantly, a new analysis has found.

In other words, more fees and taxation on the private sector, pushed by people who aren’t giving their own money, and take lots and lots of fossil fueled trips with their own over-size carbon footprints.

Rich countries will also have to find more money from taxpayers to fund developing countries, enabling them to cut their greenhouse gas emissions and rebuild their infrastructure to adapt to the likely effects of global warming.

See? More taxes and fees. This is all just a money transfer scheme, as pushed by these “developing nations”, and, really, what have previous schemes accomplished? Most of these poor countries are still poor, are still 3rd world sh*tholes. But, the dictators seems to do very well. It also fits very well with the guilt Warmists feel for living a good life in 1st World nations.

The analysis, seen by the Guardian, is a critical part of the runup to the UN climate change conference, starting on 30 November in Paris. Poor countries were promised finance flows of $100bn a year from developed countries by 2020, as part of the deal reached at the climate summit in Copenhagen in 2009.

But finance has fallen well short of that target so far, and poor countries are concerned they will not receive the promised money. They are demanding that the target be reached, as a prerequisite for any agreement in Paris.

This is a great way for poor countries to extort money from countries that actually succeed.

Fantastic comment at the Guardian (say, has the Guardian pledged their own money, and have they divested from fossil fuels yet?)

If the threat from C02 is so dangerous, why isn’t the vast sums spent on conferences at 5 star venues, private jet travel, first class air tickets and huge convoys of limos used to fund research into scrubbing emissions from coal fired power stations, cars, planes etc. It seems that there is also a huge amount spent by climate scientists , swanning around the world doing research to prove that the climate is changing and the world is getting warmer. One has to question why they continue to do this, when we are constantly told that “the science is settled.” It would seem to be rather stupid and obtuse to scream hysterically that existing energy sources must be shut down and replaced with what is quaintly called “sustainable” energy, when the blindly obvious solution is to put these scientist chaps to work to find efficient ways to scrub C02 from emissions. Maybe though, it’s more fun and more financially rewarding to travel around, funded by tax payers saying the same thing over and over again. One suspects that mere pennies are being spent on scrubbing CO2 from emissions against the billions spent on climate research.

What he/she said.

Democrats Not Impressed By Obama’s “Trust Me” Approach To Trade Deal

Huh. Democrats suddenly understand what Republicans have been dealing with for over six years, when it comes to the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) legislation

(The Hill) President Obama’s argument that Democrats should trust his vision on trade is falling flat on Capitol Hill.

Democrats — even some of Obama’s closest allies — say it’s not enough for the president to pronounce his trade agenda the most progressive in history.

The lawmakers want assurances that the agreements under negotiation, particularly a huge deal being finalized with Pacific Rim nations, will protect U.S. jobs — assurances many say they simply haven’t gotten.

“I take the president at his word that he believes … the argument he’s making, but I think he’s wrong,” Rep. David Cicilline (D-R.I.) said Wednesday.

“The analysis I’ve done comes to a very different conclusion,” he added. “It’s clear that this will, in the long term, not result in the growth of American jobs and an increase in wages.”

There quite a few similar quotes from Democrats within the article, and have a long list of concerns. Legitimate concerns. More and more Democrats, particularly in the House, are leaning towards or saying specifically that they are a “Nay” vote. Republican House leaders are pushing the pact hard, but rank and file are not all falling in line.

Obama is offering his full support to Democrats who back him on trade and face blowback from unions and liberal groups in primary elections.

“Those who are concerned about it, I think, do take a lot of solace in knowing that they can count on the support of President Barack Obama in a Democratic primary if they need it,” Earnest said, noting that surveys show the president is “the most popular, influential and well-liked figure in Democratic politics.”

And that little bit of back scratching has many House Democrats upset, even livid. They’ve had his back on most things for over six years, and now he’s essentially doing a carrot and stick schtick. Back this, and I’ll help you. Don’t back me on this, and I’ll forget your name, and, hey, maybe I’ll back a Democrat to primary you.

The question is, is this a good trade bill? I’ll be the first to admit that I do not know enough to determine this. There are pros and cons, and an interesting con from Senator Bernie Sanders down in the links comments (hey, just because he’s a Socialist Democrat doesn’t mean he’s automatically wrong). There’s a long list of “wait a minutes” from Sanders, which should provide concern by all political/economic persuasions, while also noting that previous free trade pacts have seen American jobs and money flow out of the country. Put aside the name, Party, and political leanings of the Sanders, and read it as if a staunch Conservative wrote it, and see what you think.

Anyhow, it’s amusing that Democrats are finding out what Republicans have known for a long time: you can’t, and shouldn’t, simply take Obama’s word for it. Because he has broken that word time and time and time again.
