(NJ.com) Parents, alumni and students are standing behind a Montgomery County Catholic school teacher after she was apparently fired for her same-sex marriage, according to a report by 6 ABC.
More than 100 people met at Jack’s Firehouse in Fairmount Wednesday to support Margie Winters, who was the religious education teacher at Waldron Mercy Academy.
Hey, there’s nothing that says Ms. Winters isn’t a good person and a great teacher, and even an inspiration to the students: however, gay marriage is against the teachings of the Catholic Church. If a teacher or school employee was pushing a pro-abortion position, they’d be canned too. Let’s not forget that Ms. Winters should have been fully knowledgeable about the policies of the religious school. If you’re a vegan, do you go work for a steakhouse?
State Senator Daylin Leach of Montgomery County said in the report that the school could not take state funding and discriminate. According to its website, the school received $270,000 from the state’s Opportunity Scholarship Tax Credit Program.
The article forgot to mention that Leach is a Democrat, and a big supporter of SSM. Interestingly, it seems to be A-OK for schools that discriminate on the basis of race, otherwise known as Affirmative Action, to take state funding. Is it not also discrimination, and un-Constitutional, to tell religions how to operate?
Organizers said Wednesday’s meeting was just the beginning, and their ultimate goal is to get Winters her job back, according to the report.
You can bet there will be lawsuits, and Government intervention. SSM SJWs will be coming after religious organizations and churches.

And the world is like totally, ya know, on a collision with fossil fuels!!!!!!
Jerry Brown: People who don't believe that CO2 is overheating the planet are "troglodytes" http://t.co/xDFGbOWmPC
— Tom Nelson (@TomANelson) July 9, 2015
Ater two days of rubbing shoulders with an international collection of politicians, Gov. Jerry Brown emerged from a climate-change conference here with new partnerships in the fight against global warming.
In a speech Wednesday to government officials and environmental advocates that capped his trip, the governor took aim at “troglodytes†who deny the threat of climate change, and insisted that all aspects of modern life must be scrutinized to save the planet.
Say, I wonder what kind of troglodyte takes a fossil fueled airplane trip from California to Toronto to complain about fossil fuels?
“We have to redesign our cities, our homes, our cars, our electrical generation, our grids — all those things,†Brown said. “And it can be done with intelligence. We can get more value from less material.â€
How’s that working out in California, which has some of the highest property prices in the country, is renowned for its traffic jams, and is dealing with a dearth of water and electricity? How’s that carbon trading market working out? Oh, right, companies are leaving California.
Addressing climate change, Brown said, requires reckoning with things that have made life comfortable for billions of people.
“Oil, gas, coal has created the wealth we enjoy,†he said. “What was the source of our wealth now becomes the challenge of our future.â€
So, wait, fossil fuels created great wealth? Weird.
The conference, attended by people from across the Americas and the other side of the Atlantic, was a chance to showcase California’s growing environmental reach.
Yet again, we see people who complain about fossil fuels (and do a lot more than complain, as many are trying to shut down all fossil fuels, or at least skyrocket the cost of it) using vast amounts to attend a “climate change” conference. As Glenn Reynolds likes to write “I’ll believe it’s a crisis when people who tell me it’s a crisis start acting like it’s a crisis”. Ah, but what Warmists want is for your to be forced to act like it’s a crisis, while they themselves act in a contradictory manner and just go on with their fossil fueled lives.
BTW, we all know that there’s no better way to get people to agree with you and cooperate than calling them names.

Some people have been complaining about these non-existent and mythical Death Panels. Huh
(LA Times) Six years after end-of-life planning nearly derailed development of the Affordable Care Act amid charges of “death panels,” the Obama administration has revived a proposal to reimburse physicians for talking with their Medicare patients about how patients want to be cared for as they near death.
The proposal, contained in a large set of Medicare regulations unveiled Wednesday, comes amid growing public discussion about the need for medical care that better reflects patients’ wishes as they get older.
Two months ago, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, one of the front-runners for the Republican presidential nomination in 2016, suggested that Medicare patients should sign so-called advance directives that spell out the care they want if they become incapacitated.
It’s interesting that they throw in Jeb! Bush’s suggestion, which really has little to do with these so-called death panels. Sounds like he was suggesting that people sign a living will (hey, I have one, even though I’m not on Medicare).
The new proposal from the Department of Health and Human Services would not require Medicare patients to sign any order or even to talk with their physicians about end-of-life care.
Rather, the proposed regulation would allow medical providers to bill Medicare for  “advance-care planning” should a patient want to have the discussion.
Having doctors talk to their patients about how they want to be cared for was never a big issue. What was a big issue was having doctors discuss ways to end lives with the patients, ie, doctor assisted suicide.
Furthermore, these were just a small part the “death panels” that Sarah Palin brought up. In fact, what she was referring to were Government run panels which decided exactly what care citizens would receive, and whether citizens were worth advanced care, such as whether an older patient was worth a knee replacement, or should just be given a cane and some meds. Here’s what she wrote at the time
The Democrats promise that a government health care system will reduce the cost of health care, but as the economist Thomas Sowell has pointed out, government health care will not reduce the cost; it will simply refuse to pay the cost. And who will suffer the most when they ration care? The sick, the elderly, and the disabled, of course. The America I know and love is not one in which my parents or my baby with Down Syndrome will have to stand in front of Obama’s “death panel†so his bureaucrats can decide, based on a subjective judgment of their “level of productivity in society,†whether they are worthy of health care. Such a system is downright evil.
The system was compared to that in the UK, which often determines whether a person is worthy of certain medical care, or they should be given less care based on whether you are worth it.
And there is an actual “death panel”: the Independent Payment Advisory Board, a group of individuals tasked with determining Medicare rates without the need to go to Congress, though Congress can override their decisions. There is a concern that they could limit access to care for seniors, cut payments for services, and is unresponsive to the American People. That’s per the American Medical Association, a big backer of Ocare. This easily could lead to rationing of service, especially as cost for the entire Ocare program spiral out of control.

(WRAL)Â Only 2 percent of North Carolina magistrates have taken advantage of a new state law allowing them to express their opposition to same-sex marriage by opting out of performing all weddings.
Senate Bill 2 was adopted on June 11 after lawmakers overrode Gov. Pat McCrory’s veto of the measure. The law allows magistrates and staffers in county register of deeds offices to opt out of presiding at weddings or issuing marriage licenses, respectively, for a “sincerely held religious objection.” Although the recusals cover all weddings for at least six months, the legislation has been widely read as a way to give legal cover to those who object to gay marriage.
14 out of 672 have said “nope!” ahead of time. Others can say “nope!” at the time, because they do not have to announce their intentions ahead of time. Expect the 14 to be abused by SSM SJWs, because tolerance

These are the same people who turned their backs on the Rwanda massacre. The same people who have bastions of human rights like Iran and China on their Human Rights Commission. The same people who have been, and still are, involved in numerous rape and sexual assault issues. The list goes on and on
(Business Green) The UN’s Human Rights Council (HRC) has unanimously adopted a new resolution that stresses the importance of addressing the impact of climate change on the human rights of some of the world’s most vulnerable people.
The Human rights and climate change resolution, championed by the Philippines and Bangladesh and co-sponsored by more than 100 countries, highlights the importance of considering the “direct and indirect” impact of climate change on a wide range of human rights, including the right of life, and the right to adequate food and housing.
It also expresses concerns that the countries likely to be worst hit by climate change are those without the resources to implement effective adaptation plans. This puts some of the world’s most vulnerable citizens at risk, the resolution said.
Is this about money?
“We trust that, with the adoption of this resolution, the OHCHR will now be mandated and allocated financial and human resources for climate change concerns,” she added.
It’s about money, as in “give us money!!!!!”

Supporters of illegal aliens, along with the illegal aliens themselves, have been pushing hard to allow illegal aliens to be allowed to obtain legal state driver’s licenses, for the stated reason of making sure that illegals who drive have these licenses so that they can purchase auto insurance. Yeah, it’s stupid, but, what else should we expect from those who support illegal aliens. Of course, the real reason is to subtly provide a reason to legalize them, and give them ways to access legal American services
(Fox News) A crackdown on document fraud has sent the number of driver’s licenses issued to illegal aliens in New Mexico plunging by 70 percent, while revealing that the state likely issued tens of thousands of bogus licenses after becoming the first state to adopt the controversial policy a dozen years ago.
Last year, New Mexico issued 4,577 licenses to foreign nationals, down sharply from the 2010 high of about 15,000. Officials in the administration of Gov. Susana Martinez, who opposes the policy but has been unable to get it repealed, say the huge drop came as soon as new procedures were implemented to identify fraudulent documents that had been submitted to obtain licenses.
“While this is encouraging news, Gov. Martinez still sides with an overwhelming majority of New Mexicans who believe we must repeal the dangerous law of giving driver’s licenses to illegal immigrants, which has turned our state into a magnet for criminal activity,†said Mike Lonergan, spokesman for the governor.
New Mexico became the first of 10 states to issue driver’s licenses to illegal aliens in 2003, under then-Gov. Bill Richardson, who claimed it would cut down on uninsured drivers in the state. But while the policy’s effect on public safety has been inconclusive, critics say it launched a cottage industry for criminals to sell fraudulent documents.
Last year, federal officials broke up a five-year operation — which extended from New Mexico to New York — that saw illegal immigrants from Georgia paying as much as $2,000 to obtain documents to secure a New Mexico driver’s license.
Many other states now offer driver’s licenses to illegal aliens, however, New Mexico and Washington are the worst, as they have “no legally present requirements and no expiration with visa or authorization to stay”.
The licenses can be used as official documents for I-9’s when applying for a job. A job that they shouldn’t have in the first place. They don’t stop illegals from having accidents. Don’t forget, many of the 9/11 terrorist obtained valid licenses using fake names in Virginia, licenses that expired long after their official visa dates.
Finally, let’s not forget that those fraudulent documents used can often mean identity theft, which can harm legal U.S. citizens. Perhaps someone could explain why supporters of illegal aliens are picking these lawbreakers over their fellow citizens.

Have you heard the news about all the health insurance company mergers? Isn’t there usually a freakout when Big Companies announce their intent to merge, complaints about a reduction in choice? Interestingly, when it comes to health insurance companies, and medical companies, merging, the news has been rather low key. I wonder why? The always unhinged, but a good peek into the Leftist mind, Salon tells us
Robert Reich: Single payer healthcare is the only way
The former secretary of labor on the dangers of health insurance mergers in the wake of SCOTUS’ Obamacare rulingThe Supreme Court’s recent blessing of Obamacare has precipitated a rush among the nation’s biggest health insurers to consolidate into two or three behemoths.
The result will be good for their shareholders and executives, but bad for the rest of us – who will pay through the nose for the health insurance we need.
We have another choice, but before I get to it let me give you some background.
Last week, Aetna announced it would spend $35 billion to buy rival Humana in a deal that will create the second-largest health insurer in the nation, with 33 million members.
OK, that goes on for a while, telling us all how super bad this is (and, really, Reich isn’t all that wrong. A loss of choice, domination by a few companies, etc), leading to
The problem isn’t Obamacare. The real problem is the current patchwork of state insurance regulations, insurance commissioners, and federal regulators can’t stop the tidal wave of mergers, or limit the economic and political power of the emerging giants.
Which is why, ultimately, American will have to make a choice.
If we continue in the direction we’re headed we’ll soon have a health insurance system dominated by two or three mammoth for-profit corporations capable of squeezing employees and consumers for all they’re worth – and handing over the profits to their shareholders and executives.
The alternative is a government-run single payer system – such as is in place in almost every other advanced economy – dedicated to lower premiums and better care.
Which do you prefer?
Remember, we were told by Ocare supporters that Obamacare would increase choice. Choice of doctors, choice of medical facilities, choice of insurers. Opponents talked about a loss of choice. Guess who was right? Again. But, rather than looking towards ways to increase choice, Leftists want to go down the road towards single payer, dominated and run by Government. Of course, this was always the plan.
