That TV Show Post

Let’s discuss something a bit different. Remember when TV shows used to come on during the fall and spring season? And summer was for reruns? I was just talking shows with a client, and realized how many are on for me right now

Wednesday has Suits

Thursday has Wayward Pines and Graceland. And Barbecue Pitmasters on Destination America (freaking awesome channel)

Friday has Defiance, Killjoys, and Dark Matter. Also, sorta Tanked and Treehouse Masters is about to come back

Sunday is the Next Food Network Star and Cuthroat Kitchen, with this season’s The Strain starting this Sunday

Tuesday is Chopped.

I also love Continuum, though that is supposed to be ended this fall with a 6 episode finale. I kinda gave up on Haven. Got tedious.

Plus stuff on Smithsonian (if you’ve never seen Aerial America, check that out), Food Network, Travel Channel, and Cooking.

What do y’all watch?

We’re Saved: Boy Band One Direction Spreading Awareness On Hotcoldwetdry

This has Think Progress squeeing like the young teen girls who listen to the “music”

How This Popular Boy Band Is Raising Awareness On Climate Change

Looks like losing a member hasn’t lessened One Direction’s humanitarian spirit.

Speaking directly to their fans — an extremely loyal bunch known as Directioners — the popular British boy band released a video Wednesday on their website to mark the launch of Action/1D, a campaign aimed at raising awareness about global issues like climate change.

“2015 is a year like no other, and we want you to really make it count,” the video begins. “At two historic summits in September and December, world leaders will make decisions that affect important human issues, like extreme poverty, inequality, and climate change.”

“Please will you join us to put pressure on our leaders?” the boys ask. “All you need to do is tell us what you want your world to look like in the future.”

Will they be telling all their young fans to make sure they never use fossil fuels and go carbon neutral? Speaking of fossil fuels

(UK Daily Mail) One Direction have denied being two-faced after throwing their weight behind a climate change campaign despite previously admitting they often use two private jets to travel the globe.

The group, who last last year were revealed to be the richest boyband in British music history with a combined wealth of £70million, have joined Save the Children in launching action/1D.

In a statement they said: ‘Young people really do have the power to help end poverty, tackle inequality and stop dangerous climate change.’

It comes after the band racked up around 200,000 miles while travelling the world on their past two tours.

So, climahypocrites. And like all good Warmists, they have Excuses

When approached by the Daily Mirror about whether One Direction’s carbon-burning mode of transport was at odds with the campaign, Save the Children said: ‘None of us are perfect.’

The charity’s Brendan Cox added: ‘One Direction is the biggest band in the world and by mobilising the millions of young people in their fanbase, they’ll shine a light on the most important issues of our time.’

A spokesman for One Direction claimed the band’s flights were ‘part of a carbon offset programme’.

He said the band used Starflight jets, a company which works alongside the charity Cool Earth to try and offset carbon emissions by protecting the rainforests.

Yet again, Warmists who tell us it’s a crisis but fail to act like it’s a crisis.

Catholic School Teacher Fired For Gay Marriage, Democrats To Go After Funding

Who didn’t see this one coming?

(NJ.com) Parents, alumni and students are standing behind a Montgomery County Catholic school teacher after she was apparently fired for her same-sex marriage, according to a report by 6 ABC.

More than 100 people met at Jack’s Firehouse in Fairmount Wednesday to support Margie Winters, who was the religious education teacher at Waldron Mercy Academy.

Hey, there’s nothing that says Ms. Winters isn’t a good person and a great teacher, and even an inspiration to the students: however, gay marriage is against the teachings of the Catholic Church. If a teacher or school employee was pushing a pro-abortion position, they’d be canned too. Let’s not forget that Ms. Winters should have been fully knowledgeable about the policies of the religious school. If you’re a vegan, do you go work for a steakhouse?

State Senator Daylin Leach of Montgomery County said in the report that the school could not take state funding and discriminate. According to its website, the school received $270,000 from the state’s Opportunity Scholarship Tax Credit Program.

The article forgot to mention that Leach is a Democrat, and a big supporter of SSM. Interestingly, it seems to be A-OK for schools that discriminate on the basis of race, otherwise known as Affirmative Action, to take state funding. Is it not also discrimination, and un-Constitutional, to tell religions how to operate?

Organizers said Wednesday’s meeting was just the beginning, and their ultimate goal is to get Winters her job back, according to the report.

You can bet there will be lawsuits, and Government intervention. SSM SJWs will be coming after religious organizations and churches.

High Flying Gov Moonbeam: People Who Don’t Believe In “Climate Change” Are Troglodytes

And the world is like totally, ya know, on a collision with fossil fuels!!!!!!

Ater two days of rubbing shoulders with an international collection of politicians, Gov. Jerry Brown emerged from a climate-change conference here with new partnerships in the fight against global warming.

In a speech Wednesday to government officials and environmental advocates that capped his trip, the governor took aim at “troglodytes” who deny the threat of climate change, and insisted that all aspects of modern life must be scrutinized to save the planet.

Say, I wonder what kind of troglodyte takes a fossil fueled airplane trip from California to Toronto to complain about fossil fuels?

“We have to redesign our cities, our homes, our cars, our electrical generation, our grids — all those things,” Brown said. “And it can be done with intelligence. We can get more value from less material.”

How’s that working out in California, which has some of the highest property prices in the country, is renowned for its traffic jams, and is dealing with a dearth of water and electricity? How’s that carbon trading market working out? Oh, right, companies are leaving California.

Addressing climate change, Brown said, requires reckoning with things that have made life comfortable for billions of people.

“Oil, gas, coal has created the wealth we enjoy,” he said. “What was the source of our wealth now becomes the challenge of our future.”

So, wait, fossil fuels created great wealth? Weird.

The conference, attended by people from across the Americas and the other side of the Atlantic, was a chance to showcase California’s growing environmental reach.

Yet again, we see people who complain about fossil fuels (and do a lot more than complain, as many are trying to shut down all fossil fuels, or at least skyrocket the cost of it) using vast amounts to attend a “climate change” conference. As Glenn Reynolds likes to write “I’ll believe it’s a crisis when people who tell me it’s a crisis start acting like it’s a crisis”. Ah, but what Warmists want is for your to be forced to act like it’s a crisis, while they themselves act in a contradictory manner and just go on with their fossil fueled lives.

BTW, we all know that there’s no better way to get people to agree with you and cooperate than calling them names.

Weird: Obama Admin Revives Non-existent Death Panels

Some people have been complaining about these non-existent and mythical Death Panels. Huh

(LA Times) Six years after end-of-life planning nearly derailed development of the Affordable Care Act amid charges of “death panels,” the Obama administration has revived a proposal to reimburse physicians for talking with their Medicare patients about how patients want to be cared for as they near death.

The proposal, contained in a large set of Medicare regulations unveiled Wednesday, comes amid growing public discussion about the need for medical care that better reflects patients’ wishes as they get older.

Two months ago, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, one of the front-runners for the Republican presidential nomination in 2016, suggested that Medicare patients should sign so-called advance directives that spell out the care they want if they become incapacitated.

It’s interesting that they throw in Jeb! Bush’s suggestion, which really has little to do with these so-called death panels. Sounds like he was suggesting that people sign a living will (hey, I have one, even though I’m not on Medicare).

The new proposal from the Department of Health and Human Services would not require Medicare patients to sign any order or even to talk with their physicians about end-of-life care.

Rather, the proposed regulation would allow medical providers to bill Medicare for  “advance-care planning” should a patient want to have the discussion.

Having doctors talk to their patients about how they want to be cared for was never a big issue. What was a big issue was having doctors discuss ways to end lives with the patients, ie, doctor assisted suicide.

Furthermore, these were just a small part the “death panels” that Sarah Palin brought up. In fact, what she was referring to were Government run panels which decided exactly what care citizens would receive, and whether citizens were worth advanced care, such as whether an older patient was worth a knee replacement, or should just be given a cane and some meds. Here’s what she wrote at the time

The Democrats promise that a government health care system will reduce the cost of health care, but as the economist Thomas Sowell has pointed out, government health care will not reduce the cost; it will simply refuse to pay the cost. And who will suffer the most when they ration care? The sick, the elderly, and the disabled, of course. The America I know and love is not one in which my parents or my baby with Down Syndrome will have to stand in front of Obama’s “death panel” so his bureaucrats can decide, based on a subjective judgment of their “level of productivity in society,” whether they are worthy of health care. Such a system is downright evil.

The system was compared to that in the UK, which often determines whether a person is worthy of certain medical care, or they should be given less care based on whether you are worth it.

And there is an actual “death panel”: the Independent Payment Advisory Board, a group of individuals tasked with determining Medicare rates without the need to go to Congress, though Congress can override their decisions. There is a concern that they could limit access to care for seniors, cut payments for services, and is unresponsive to the American People. That’s per the American Medical Association, a big backer of Ocare. This easily could lead to rationing of service, especially as cost for the entire Ocare program spiral out of control.

Only 14 NC Magistrates Opt Out Of Performing Gay Marriage

Obviously, their lives must be destroyed

(WRAL)  Only 2 percent of North Carolina magistrates have taken advantage of a new state law allowing them to express their opposition to same-sex marriage by opting out of performing all weddings.

Senate Bill 2 was adopted on June 11 after lawmakers overrode Gov. Pat McCrory’s veto of the measure. The law allows magistrates and staffers in county register of deeds offices to opt out of presiding at weddings or issuing marriage licenses, respectively, for a “sincerely held religious objection.” Although the recusals cover all weddings for at least six months, the legislation has been widely read as a way to give legal cover to those who object to gay marriage.

14 out of 672 have said “nope!” ahead of time. Others can say “nope!” at the time, because they do not have to announce their intentions ahead of time. Expect the 14 to be abused by SSM SJWs, because tolerance

Climate Change Is Totally A Human Right Or Something, Says UN

These are the same people who turned their backs on the Rwanda massacre. The same people who have bastions of human rights like Iran and China on their Human Rights Commission. The same people who have been, and still are, involved in numerous rape and sexual assault issues. The list goes on and on

(Business Green) The UN’s Human Rights Council (HRC) has unanimously adopted a new resolution that stresses the importance of addressing the impact of climate change on the human rights of some of the world’s most vulnerable people.

The Human rights and climate change resolution, championed by the Philippines and Bangladesh and co-sponsored by more than 100 countries, highlights the importance of considering the “direct and indirect” impact of climate change on a wide range of human rights, including the right of life, and the right to adequate food and housing.

It also expresses concerns that the countries likely to be worst hit by climate change are those without the resources to implement effective adaptation plans. This puts some of the world’s most vulnerable citizens at risk, the resolution said.

Is this about money?

“We trust that, with the adoption of this resolution, the OHCHR will now be mandated and allocated financial and human resources for climate change concerns,” she added.

It’s about money, as in “give us money!!!!!”

Leftist Academic Wants Parts Of US Constitution Censored, Links It To Charleston Shooting

This is what passes for “thought” in Liberal World

(Daily Caller) A political scientist and former professor has penned an article calling for the U.S. Constitution to be censored in order to conceal older parts that are offensive.

“South Carolina’s battle flag may soon come down from the capitol flagpole, but other symbols of the Confederacy’s ideology remain in place,” writes political scientist and former University of Maryland professor Henry Bain in an editorial that has appeared in several newspapers around the country. “For example, consider the U. S. Constitution.”

Bain isn’t calling for the creation of a new Constitution, but rather says the current one should simply be edited to remove parts he considers immoral and outdated.

“All copies of the Constitution promulgate detailed instructions for the recapture of slaves who have run away from their owners,” he says. “They also specify that slaves are to be counted as three-fifths of a person in the Census, giving a boost to the slave-owning states in the House of Representatives and the Electoral College.”

Obviously, those parts have been superseded by Amendments, but he is Very Unhappy that citizens are allowed to read history. I bet they’d like to whitewash the racist history of the Democratic Party. And everything else they don’t like. Because they’re the educated Party, ya know!

Modern copies of the Constitution (such as that at Archive.gov) typically show the text as it originally was, while also including a note that such clauses have been superseded by later amendments. That may seem reasonable, but Bain says that kind of approach is the reason nine people found themselves brutally gunned down in Charleston.

“One might justify this presentation of our national charter by saying that it commemorates an earlier time or instructs students on the nation’s political history,” says Bain. “That kind of thinking has prevailed for a long time in Charleston, only recently yielding in the face of an atrocity.”

Yeah, he went there. Who does he want to redo the Constitution? Why, himself, of course, as he pimps his book, “The Constitution of the United States of America Modern Edition”. You can get it for just $9.99, Kindle edition!
