Good News: Iran’s Past Nuclear Work/Current Weaponization No Barrier To Iran Deal Implementation

Really, why should Iran’s nuclear weapon program details have anything to do with implementing a deal to deny them a nuclear weapon for the next 8-15 years? One of the sticking points is the side deal between Iran and the IAEA, which was meant to investigate Iran’s past nuclear weapons work and the current state of that program. This is rather necessary in order to “establish a baseline” for investigating all their work, their personnel, their facilities, and how far along they were in developing weapons. What would the consequences be if Iran obstructed this investigation? Iran said it had no bearing. The Obama admin said it does. And now? Obama and Kerry have capitulated once again to Iran

(Business Insider) Now we have the answer. On October 19, a Wall Street Journal report cited anonymous US officials who “said the IAEA report would have no bearing on moves by the international community to lift sanctions.”

“That final assessment, which the IAEA is aiming to complete by December 15th, is not a prerequisite for implementation day,” a senior US official told The Journal. “We are not in a position to evaluate the quality … of the data. That is between Iran and the IAEA.”

As The Journal notes, “Secretary of State John Kerry and other US officials had previously said sanctions wouldn’t be lifted unless Iran substantively cooperated with the UN probe.”

Even before the agreement goes into effect, the US is shifting its interpretation of the JCPOA in a way that makes the accord more palatable to Iran.

In the process, the US has essentially decided that the investigation of past nuclear-weapons work, and the state of current Iranian weaponization expertise, is nonbinding on a treaty specifically meant to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon.

Of course, the deal is only meant to restrict Iran’s nuclear weapons program for a period of 8-15 years, at which point they are free to develop nuclear weapons and the means to deliver them willy nilly. Iran has been pushing the envelope left and right, even dictating terms for the implementation of the deal. They’ve tested Ehmad missiles, in violation of current sanctions, and would be against the Iran deal.

The US has retreated in connecting the weaponization disclosures to the full implementation of the deal — at the same time Tehran is acting as if it doesn’t really value cooperation with its negotiating partners.

Consequently, it looks like Iran looking to push the still-to-be implemented JCPOA as far as it possibly can.

It looks like Iran is looking to push Obama and Kerry as far as they possibly can, and Obama/Kerry capitulated once again.

Salon: Hair Petting Is Now Raaaaacist

Despite having watched, listened to, and read Lefties for a long, long time, and especially in the Age Of The Internet, their bat guano insane thoughts still manage to be bat guano insane, especially when someone is Offended. And one of the best places to go now for bat guano insanity is Salon. Today’s outrage is brought to us by Anna Silman, their deputy entertainment editor

Taylor Swift is really this clueless: The Weeknd details deeply uncomfortable hair-petting incident

Asking a celebrity interview subject about his/her relationship to Taylor Swift has become a journalistic rite of passage as of late, and we recently got an interesting anecdote about America’s favorite leggy, belly button-less Squad Leader in a new Rolling Stone profile of Abel Tesfaye, aka The Weeknd.

The Weeknd explained that he met Taylor Swift at Sam Smith’s Grammy party this February (at “an $80 million mansion in Bel-Air,” naturally). After telling him how much she loved his music, a presumably drunk Swift pulled the quintessential clueless white person move and started stroking his Basquiat-inspired ‘do.

“I think she was just drawn to it — she must have been a little gone off a few drinks,” The Weeknd explained. “And of course I’m not going to be like, ‘Hey, can you stop?’ I mean, it felt good! But when she started petting my hair, that’s when I was like, ‘I definitely need a drink.’”

Oh Tay, no. Just no. Anyone else ready for that Taylor Swift hiatus to start already?

Got that? She stroked his hair!!!!!!! A white person move!!!!! Hence, racism!!!!

Warmists Finally Tell Us The Best Global Temperature

At least in terms of economics, which is interesting, considering that they also want to control economies via far left Progressive (nice fascism) policies. Here’s CBS News in climaventilation mode

Global warming spells trouble for world economy

With each upward degree, global warming will singe the economies of three-quarters of the world’s nations and widen the north-south gap between rich and poor countries, according to a new economic and science study.

Singe!!!!!

Compared to what it would be without more global warming, the average global income will shrivel 23 percent at the end of the century if heat-trapping carbon dioxide pollution continues to grow at its current trajectory, according to a study published Wednesday in the scientific journal Nature.

There’s the humorous, and unscientific, labeling of CO2 as “pollution”. I’m going to skip the rest of the silliness and go straight to the temperature

Lead author Marshall Burke of Stanford and Hsiang examined 50 years of economic data in 160 countries and even county-by-county data in the United States and found what Burke called “the goldilocks zone in global temperature at which humans are good at producing stuff” – an annual temperature of around 13 degrees Celsius or 55.4 degrees Fahrenheit, give or take a degree.

And there you go. But….

The 20th-century global average annual temperature is 57 degrees, or 13.9 degrees Celsius, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Last year – the hottest on record – was 58.24 degrees and this year is almost certain to break that record, according to NOAA. Burke and Hsiang use different population-weighted temperature figures than NOAA calculates.

Well, that’s weird. Unsurprising, the study authors have all sorts of Excuses.

Erik Worrell has a piece up at Watts Up With That? tearing the foolish study up. But, hey, we finally were provided with an optimal temperature from the Cult of Climastrology.

Obama Admin Totally Wants New Sanctions On Iran For Missile Test

Team Obama, which has given Iran virtually everything they want with the Iran Deal, a deal which kicks the can down the road 8-15 years in terms of Iran developing a nuclear weapon, rather than stopping their program, is a wee bit upset over Iran’s missile test

(Reuters) The United States, Britain, France and Germany called on Wednesday for the United Nations Security Council’s Iran sanctions committee to take action over a missile test by Tehran that they said violated a U.N. ban.

In a letter containing details on the launch, they said the ballistic missile was “inherently capable of delivering a nuclear weapon.”

The letter, seen by Reuters, was sent to the committee after the United States raised the issue in the 15-member Security Council.

The Iran Deal also limits those missiles, which would take the place of the 2010 sanctions passed by the Security Council.

Diplomats have said it was possible for the sanctions committee to blacklist additional Iranian individuals or entities if it determined that the missile launch had breached the U.N. ban. However, they said Russia and China, which have opposed the sanctions on Iran’s missile program, might block any such moves.

Might? Will. Just like they will block any re-institution of any sanctions for the Iran Deal via “snapback”.

“The United States will continue to press the Security Council to respond effectively to any future violations … Full and robust enforcement of all relevant U.N. measures is and will remain critical,” U.S. ambassador to the United Nations Samantha Power said in a statement on Wednesday.

Iran has violated UN sanctions numerous times. Why would anyone think they won’t violate the nuclear deal?

Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on Wednesday conditionally approved the nuclear deal but warned it would be violated if any of the six world powers imposed any sanctions on any level and under any pretext.

Khamenei is sending a pointed message, extortion, really, to Team Obama, telling them not to try anything or Iran will scuttle Obama’s “historic” and “legacy defining” deal.

56% Say Increasing Concealed Carry Would Make U.S. More Safe

Yet another poll that’s bad for the gun-grabbers

(Gallup) A majority of Americans, 56%, believe that if more Americans carried concealed weapons after passing a criminal background check and training course, the country would be safer.

Personally, I’d like to see an increase in open carry. If a criminal sees someone carrying a handgun, rather than wondering if they have concealed, they’d be less likely to engage in a criminal act against that person. Anyhow, 82% of Republicans say safer, as do 59% of Independents. Of course, only 31% of Democrats say safer, putting them outside of the mainstream yet again on guns. I guess they prefer the high levels of criminal use of guns in their cities, especially when it comes to Blacks killing Blacks.

We also find that 86% support a “universal background check using a centralized database”. Hey, there’s nothing wrong with a background check, and since the term “universal background check” is not explained, of course people will say yes. Then we get this

So, 53% say it wouldn’t really make a difference. We’re still waiting for the recommendations from the gun grabbers on how to keep guns out of the hands of criminals, gang members, people intent on doing harm, etc. Most of their plans are aimed at those who aren’t purchasing firearms for nefarious purposes.

High Flying John Kerry Says Skeptics Shouldn’t Be Allowed In Elected Office

How about a new term: Unintentional Deniers. They are people who say they believe in anthropogenic global warming/climate change, but fail to do more than take token steps to make their own lives carbon neutral. This would especially apply to people like John Kerry, who live high on the hog, use tons of energy, don’t eat local, and use lots and lots of fossil fuels. People who are total climahypocrites

Kerry: Climate Deniers Should Be Disqualified From High Public Service

Climate change deniers do not deserve to serve in high public office, Secretary of State John Kerry said at the kickoff of his Climate and Clean Energy Investment Forum in Washington on Wednesday. (snip)

“And to suggest that when more than 6,000-plus peer-reviewed studies of the world’s best scientists all lay out that this is happening and mankind is contributing to it, it seems to me that they disqualify themselves fundamentally from high public office with those kinds of statements,” he said.

Seems like Kerry wants to apply a religious test as to whom is qualified, which, last time I checked, was against the Constitution. This is what the far Left does, though: refuse to allow any dissension from their cultish doctrine.

Climate Change Adding Billions To Non-existent US Hurricane Costs Or Something

Remember that hurricane that made landfall in the U.S. just the other week? Oh, wait, the United States has only been hit with one actual hurricane since 2008, and that one, Issac, could be argued was actually just a tropical storm. We’re three days away from the 10th anniversary of Hurricane Wilma, which was the last time the US was hit with a major hurricane, the longest period of no major landfalling hurricanes since the Civil War. But, hey, things are supposedly really, really bad, according to Doyal Rice

(USA Today) The cost of U.S. hurricane damage has increased dramatically from 1900 to 2005 as a result of man-made climate change, an economic study released Monday concludes.

“The rise in losses is consistent with an influence of global warming on the number and intensity of hurricanes, an influence which may have accounted for 2% to 12% of the U.S. hurricane losses in 2005,” according to the study, which was published in the peer-reviewed British journal Nature Geoscience.

In 2005 alone, climate change was likely responsible for close to $14 billion of additional damage, including devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina.

Huh. The study avoids any mention of the last 10 seasons. I wonder why?

The study claims that the extra costs in recent decades do not just stem from more homes, businesses and infrastructure that have been built near the coastlines. “Increases in wealth and population alone cannot account for the observed trend in hurricane losses,” according to the study, whose lead author is Francisco Estrada, an economist at Mexico’s National Autonomous University.

Estrada and two colleagues from Europe said that this unexplained increase in economic losses over time is consistent with a climate change signal.

So, since there has been so few landfalling hurricanes and tropical storms since the start of the 2006 season, and they have almost dried up since 2008, does that mean there’s no “climate change signal” now? Some of the worst hurricane years occurred during….wait for it….Modern Warm Period pauses. The mid-1940’s through mid-1970’s was a big period, especially in the 1960’s. What of the great Galveston hurricane of 1900? Wasn’t much time for “climate change” to kick in, and it was when CO2 was well below the “safe” level of 350ppm.

University of Colorado’s Roger Pielke, who was not involved in the study, said it should have included hurricane damage data from just the past 10 years (2006-2015), which have been quiet for hurricane activity. He said it’s “misleading” to end an analysis with the “exceptional” hurricane year of 2005.

“The period 2006-2015 has been well below average in terms of damage and U.S. hurricanes,” Pielke said in an email to USA TODAY. “It is shocking that they did not include this further data.”

No, it’s not shocking, it’s what the Cult of Climastrology does. They claim that it is cherry picking to work backwards from today to show how long the Pause has been going on. Will they say it is cherry picking to ignore data from 2006-2015? Of course not, the idea here is to create a Scary Fable, for which we have to Do Something, namely, increase taxation and control of citizens, private entities, and economies.
