Western Washington U Snowflakes Admit They’re Horrible People

The Daily Beast’s Robby Sauve brings us this story of pure Special Snowflake Syndrome, where the inmates are demanding to run the asylum

The College That Wants to Ban ‘History’

Students at Western Washington University have reached a turning point in their campus’s hxstory. (For one thing, they’re now spelling it with an ‘x’—more on that later.) Activists are demanding the creation of a new college dedicated to social justice activism, a student committee to police offensive speech, and culturally segregated living arrangements at the school, which is in Bellingham, up in the very northwest corner of the state. (snip)

WWU’s student-activist community—the frightening-sounding Assembly for Power and Liberation—made their demands public earlier this week….

One of those demands is the creation of a school that would train the Special Snowflakes to be Social Justice Warriors. They’re demanding the administration pony up they money for this, and offer no idea as to how. They figure it’s not their problem. If you think I’m kidding, read their manifesto. Furthermore, they are demanding that all those involved with “de-colonial work” be paid. The whole thing is as nutty as you’d expect.

Something stands out more, though

Activists have also demanded the creation of an Office for Social Transformation, which would employ 15 students—young Robespierres in training—for the purposes of monitoring “racist, anti-black, transphobic, cissexist, misogynistic, ableist, homophobic, Islamophobic, and otherwise oppressive behavior on campus.” (Anti-Semitism, one notes, is curiously omitted.)

Interesting. Are these Special Snowflakes admitting that they are basically horrible people? That they are racist, homophobic, sexist, etc? Why the need for this type of totalitarianism if they aren’t? WWU is an extremely liberal school in the first place in a rather liberal area. And these Special Snowflakes are, in fact, horrible people, many of whom will be smacked in the face by the dead mackerel of reality once they leave the colleges and have to enter the real world.

Glenn Beck: Donald Trump Is Like Hitler In 1929 Or Something

Glenn Beck has been on an anti-Trump kick virtually since Trump announced. Every single time I turn on his morning show, it seems the subject is Trump (if it’s not a commercial, a product placement at the end of a segment, or an old time revival speech). I rarely hear him talk about Hillary or others. He’s welcome to do whatever he wants on his show, but, it does get rather tedious listening to the doom and gloom. Beck decided to ramp up the moonbattery during an appearance on ABC’s This Week with George Stephanopoulos (via Breitbart, which has the video)

BECK: The GOP has one last chance to listen to the people. Um, and the people that — and I understand it. They’re very, very angry because the GOP did not listen the first time around. They didn’t listen to the Ron Paul people who are way ahead of the curve. Then the Tea Party people they rubbed our nose in it, and they are tired, and they have created Donald Trump. The people are speaking clearly. And there’s two ways to go. Anger and nationalism. Nationalism has been done before in history. You can go for nationalism. You can go for anger.

STEPHANOPOULOS: Trump is Adolf Hitler?

BECK: If you look what is happening with Donald Trump and his playing to the lowest common denominator and the anger in us. You know, Adolf Hitler — we all look at Adolf Hitler in 1940. We should look at him in 1929. He was the kind of funny, character that said the things that people were thinking. Where Donald Trump takes it, I have absolutely no idea. But, Donald Trump is a dangerous man with the things he’s been saying. Now, the GOP is playing unbelievable games right now. Trying to make sure they get their way. And they’re trying to go for a brokered convention. I’m against Donald Trump. But I’ll tell you one thing, if he gets close enough, and the GOP tries to play games, I won’t vote for Donald Trump ever, but I’ll stand with his right because the people have spoken. And what the GOP is doing, they’re stirring things up because they’re more afraid of Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) than Donald Trump.

Beyond stupid.

During Democrat Debate, Hillary Clinton Totally Enthused To Discuss Her Email Server Issue

Just kidding. She deflected like crazy, per the transcript of the debate at the NY Times (via a story at The Hill)

COOPER: Secretary Clinton, I want to ask you about something you talked about this morning. You said this morning, about your emails, that you expect the investigation to be wrapped up soon. The Republican front-runner, Donald Trump says, he’s going to talk about your emails every single day if he is the nominee and out on the campaign trail.

Democrats want to know, your supporters want to know, if you’re the nominee, how are you going to take him on?

CLINTON: Well, let me start by saying that the last time I checked as of last night, Donald Trump had received 3.6 million votes, which is a good number. And there is only one candidate in either party who has more votes than him and that’s me.(APPLAUSE)

CLINTON: And, I am building a broad, diverse coalition across our country. I’m very excited by the support we’re receiving. I have said, and I’ll repeat here, I think that Donald Trump’s bigotry, his bullying, his bluster, are not going to wear (oh) well on the American people. (APPLAUSE)

So, I will look forward to engaging him because, you know, I don’t think we need to make America great again. America didn’t stop being great, we have to make it whole again. We have to knock down the barriers, we have to end the divisiveness, we have to unify the country.

And, if I’m fortunate enough to be the nominee that’s exactly what I will do.

At which point there was no follow up question to see if she would answer the first question. You can that whomever the GOP candidate is, be it Trump, Cruz, or the Establishment pulls some sort of shenanigans during the convention, the issue of Hillary’s insecure server will be brought up. Heck, the server I use to host this blog has more security than Hillary’s server. You can look up the SSL security certificate for Dreamhost, as I’m sure you can look up the one for the host Right Wing News uses (as this will be crossposted). Hillary, who was transmitting all three levels of classified material through her server had no SSL certificate. The State Department uses many, many IT people to continue to upgrade the software in an attempt to stop intrusion attempts. And even they have been hacked.

And, for those who say “there’s been no breach”, per one person, you need to be reminded that “But not detecting a breach is not the same as not being breached, security experts say.” And when you’re using crummy software, it’s harder to detect. Sometimes, it takes years to see that there was a breach.

Let’s be clear: if a Republican did this, Democrats would be freaking out and calling it treason, and would be demanding for an independent prosecutor. And, excepting the treason part, they’d be right. Regardless, Hillary will be subjected to quite a bit of questions from whomever the Republican candidate is over this situation, most particularly questioning her judgement. And, she should probably heed her own words

Sanders made the call for Snyder’s resignation again at the debate, before Clinton was asked about Flint.

“One of the points that I have made is the governor of this state should understand that his dereliction of duty was irresponsible,” Sanders said. “He should resign.”

Clinton said “amen” to Sanders’ comments, and then added her own call for Snyder’s removal..

It’s certainly a dereliction of duty to put the national security of the United States at risk simply because Hillary found it inconvenient to use the State Department email system. Try blowing off filing your taxes and tell the IRS you found it inconvenient. See what happens.

We Need A Carbon Tax For The News Media

Over the years, so many in the Credentialed Media have called for carbon taxes and cap and trade programs. Here’s the latest, as the editorial board of the Toronto Star makes their case

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau knows it. Most Canadians know it. And Ontario’s Kathleen Wynne and most of the premiers know it.

We need to put a serious price on carbon to do our bit to keep the Earth from getting too warm, and inflicting havoc on much of the planet in the form of melting ice caps, freakish weather, heat waves, droughts and floods.

So it’s discouraging that Trudeau and the premiers could not agree at their get-together in Vancouver this past week on a “pan-Canadian framework” to peg the price of carbon at $15 a tonne, $30 a tonne or some other modest but credible figure to deter fossil fuel consumption.

Instead, they punted the decision into the fuzzy future. Despite our heady pledges at theUnited Nations climate conference in Paris a few months ago, Canada will be going green no time soon.

Now, something interesting occurred to me: all the carbon taxes and such that the Credentialed Media calls for would not apply to the TV, Internet, and paper news business. This always applies to Other People. Yet, think of the vast amounts of energy, resources, and fossil fuels needed for the news sector to do their jobs. The Toronto Star needs vast amounts of fossil fuels to gather the news, then deliver their papers. They use vast amounts of paper, which comes from killing trees, to publish their paper. Think of all the energy needed to gather the news, produce the news, then disseminate it, both in dead tree edition and on the Internet. Think of all the resources needed to keep the reporters up and running, as well as the buildings and vehicles. This is all super-bad for climate change.

Hence, I suggest that any news organization that has recommended any sort of carbon tax and/or a cap and trade scheme be subject to

  • a carbon tax of $45 a metric ton of carbon pollution
  • a surcharge of 35 cents per liter/gallon of gasoline purchased by a news organization
  • a road tax of 2 cents per mile traveled for all employees during their work day and on company vehicles
  • a tax of $1 per pound of paper used to make newspapers
  • a requirement that all news organizations upgrade their buildings so that they are 100% LEED compliant
  • all helicopters used to gather news can only use biofuels
  • and none may raise the cost of their services/products

Those are very modest proposals, are they not? Reasonable, right? Surely, those who advocate for carbon taxes and/or cap and trade schemes would be willing to participate, right?

Say, Is There Anything Scarier Than Donald Trump With His Finger On Nuclear Trigger?

Once again, I’ll explain that my support Donald Trump is exceedingly low. If he ends up being the GOP candidate I will hold my nose wear a gas mask and vote for him, because it is better to have someone who at least says he’s a Republican, and work to keep the Senate and House. You won’t see any posts showing deep support for him. Sometimes, politics is simply about bad choices and worse choices, but you have to look at the big picture. Regardless, it is amusing how some are having utter meltdowns over Trump, ones that seem a bit beyond the normal over a GOP candidate. Here’s the NY Times’ Nicholas Kristoff

Donald the Dangerous

IS there any scarier nightmare than President Donald J. Trump in a tense international crisis, indignant and impatient, with his sweaty finger on the nuclear trigger?

Well, yes. Hillary even said it in 2008, it is Barack H. Obama having to answer a 2am call, something he has failed at numerous times. On the bright side, Obama tends to surrender. Then hit the golf course.

“Trump is a danger to our national security,” John B. Bellinger III, legal adviser to the State Department under President George W. Bush, bluntly warned.

Really? Did Trump employee a person who used a home brew, unsecure server in contradiction to regulations and laws, which exposed national security information, everything from privileged communications to the highest levels of communication? Did Trump call ISIS the “JV team”? Did Trump sign a deal with Iran, which essentially kicks the can for Iran’s nuclear ambitions down the road while enriching Iran’s government coffers?

Most of the discussion about Trump focuses on domestic policy. But checks and balances mean that there are limits to what a president can achieve domestically, while the Constitution gives a commander in chief a much freer hand abroad.

That’s what horrifies America-watchers overseas. Der Spiegel, the German magazine, has called Trump the most dangerous man in the world. Even the leader of a Swedish nationalist party that started as a neo-Nazi white supremacist group has disavowed Trump. J. K. Rowling, author of the Harry Potter books, reflected the views of many Britons when she tweeted that Trump is worse than Voldemort.

Oh, thank God, I don’t know what we would have done without the opinion of kid’s books writer. Of course, this is not to say Trump isn’t a fool on international policy

Asked about Syria, Trump said last year that he would unleash ISIS to destroy Syria’s government. That is insane: ISIS is already murdering or enslaving Christians, Yazidis and other religious minorities; executing gays; destroying antiquities; oppressing women. And Trump wants ISIS to capture Damascus? (snip)

Trump has also called for more U.S. troops on the ground in Iraq, and raised the prospect of bombing North Korean nuclear sites. A poorly informed, impatient and pugnacious leader can cause devastation, and that’s true of either Kim Jong-un or Donald Trump.

Yeah, that’s level 10 stupidity. Fortunately, there are typically people who are continuously in government, such as those who sit on the Joint Chiefs, who can say “yeah, um, President Trump, that’s pretty darned crazy.” Not in those words, of course.

The third risk is to America’s reputation and soft power. Both Bush and President Obama worked hard to reassure the world’s 1.6 billion Muslims that the U.S. is not at war with Islam. Trump has pretty much declared war on all Muslims.

Um, no. He’s took a position against all those who have radical leanings, and has stated that those who hold positions compatible with American values should not be here. And he’s 100% correct.

There’s something heartbreaking about the prospect that America’s next commander in chief may be a global joke, a man regarded in most foreign capitals as a buffoon, and a dangerous one.

Well, we’ve spent over 7 years with a guy who is a joke on the international stage, at least by foreign leaders.

It all seems a bit beyond the normal election season freakout, possibly because the Establishment is horrified that someone might get the nomination per the voters that they cannot control, that is not part of their little clique.

Bummer: More Minnesotans Believe In God Than ‘Climate Change’

MORE MINNESOTANS BELIEVE IN GOD THAN CLIMATE CHANGE

Minnesotans are religious. We’re Americans, after all.

But when it comes to God, we’re actually far down the list. Uh, not His list: A new poll from the Pew Research Centerranks Minnesota in the bottom half of American states in self-proclaimed faith.

That study found that 56 percent of us “believe in God with absolute certainty,” while 47 percent said they pray on a daily basis. On church, cathedral, temple, or mosque attendance, about 34 percent of Minnesotans say they attend religious services on a weekly basis. (snip)

Earlier this week, Mother Jones dug out the shameful fact that a majority of respondents in 10 of the 14 states voting in this week’s Super Tuesday primaries do not believe climate change is “mainly caused  by humans.” Those results, from a 2014 study by Yale, capture a bunch of the southern states that voted this week. But we’re there, too: Just 48 percent of Minnesotans believe in manmade climate change, tying us with Georgia and putting us one point below Texas.

…And Minnesotans, in turn, are 8 percent more likely to believe in God than to believe the scientists.

And this means doom or something

Some day our reckoning with all of these facts will come. Until then, the least you could do is say a little prayer for science.

Of course, what he’s referring to is known as “science”, because it isn’t quite real. It’s like thinking you’re buying ice cream, when it is really a “frozen dairy desert“. But, hey, there’s a reckoning coming!!!!!
