Say, Will Hotcoldwetdry Make You Fat?

Will global warming make you fat?

First it was fats, then it was carbs, but one day we might be blaming climate change for our expanding waistlines. Climate change is already affecting Australia’s ability to reliably produce quality food.

With climate records being broken on a monthly basis, it’s not much of a stretch to imagine our relatively easy access to fresh produce becoming a thing of the past.

So, it’s all based on a feeling of potential doom

We all know what we should be eating to stay healthy: less fat and sugar, more fresh fruit, veggies and lean protein.

Eating sustainably isn’t all that different. Stop eating so many of the cows that burp and fart methane into the atmosphere and try to eat more locally sourced, plant-based produce.

You first, Warmists.

Climate change threatens to make healthy and sustainable eating even harder. And that’s bad for our waistlines and the planet.

Uh huh. Sure thing, Sparky.

While the precise local impacts of climate change around Australia still present some uncertainties, it is looking likely that our suitable agricultural areas will shrink. This potentially will reduce the supply of local fresh produce, wheat and other grains. Further climate research will allow us to understand this better and adapt appropriately.

See? We need to just spend more money on studies! All to deal with all the uncertainties and such.

JV Team Has Plans To Kill Jewish Children

Yet, liberals are worried about bathrooms for gender confused people

(Daily Caller) ISIS is now planning to kill Jewish children in Turkish schools, kindergartens, and youth centers.

Sky News reports it was told by a source, “this is a more than credible threat. This is an active plot.” He added, “in light of these circumstances, extraordinary security measures are being taken above and beyond the high alert level already in place by the Turkish police, as well as vigilance within the Jewish community.”

Last week it was reported that ISIS has trained 400 soldiers to strike Europe in waves.

I’m sure it’s time for another round of “stop blaming Muslims” and “let’s find some Muslims who are concerned about people saying mean things about them” from the media and leftists. Meanwhile, the NY Times has an interesting article about the infiltration of Belgium and Europe long before the Brussels attack

Mr. Hame was sent out by a body inside the Islamic State that was obsessed with striking Europe for at least two years before the deadly assaults in Paris last November and in Brussels this month. In that time, the group dispatched a string of operatives trained in Syria, aiming to carry out small attacks meant to test and stretch Europe’s security apparatus even as the most deadly assaults were in the works, according to court proceedings, interrogation transcripts and records of European wiretaps obtained by The New York Times.

Officials now say the signs of this focused terrorist machine were readable in Europe as far back as early 2014. Yet local authorities repeatedly discounted each successive plot, describing them as isolated or random acts, the connection to the Islamic State either overlooked or played down.

It’s a long, long article about the missed clues and infiltration of Europe by Islamists as part of ISIS, as well as all the attacks, most of them small, often on just one or two people. When you put all the clues and attacks together, one gets the big picture of the “JV team” engaging in a concerted effort to kill Westerners. One has to wonder about attacks here in the United States. How many are linked to ISIS and other Islamic terrorist groups, and what we will see when all those clues and attacks are put together. What of all the “lone wolf” attacks, which the media and liberals explain away as being not linked to Islamists? Will they finally catch a clue, or will they continue defending the Islamists?

Bummer: Mayor DeBlasio, Governor Cuomo, Ban Non-Essential Travel To North Carolina

What a remarkable bit of fiscal responsibility!

(Politico) Mayor Bill de Blasio said Monday he is instituting a ban on “non-essential travel” by New York City employees to the state of North Carolina following the passage of a law there that overturns anti-discrimination protections for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people.

De Blasio said he would also order a similar ban on non-essential travel to Georgia if the state’s Legislature votes to override a veto by Gov. Nathan Deal of a bill seen by some as allowing discrimination against gay and lesbian people in Georgia.

“Yes, we’ve initiated a non-essential travel ban for North Carolina as of today, and in the event that the governor’s veto in Georgia is overridden, we will do so for Georgia as well,” de Blasio said Monday afternoon at an unrelated press conference.

“I think it’s quite clear that voices of conscience all over the country are expressing outrage at these decisions which are reinstituting discrimination against the LGBT community,” he said, adding, “My hope is that both these states will relent, but we certainly are not going to have any non-essential travel to those states if these laws do continue in effect.”

Once again, it’s utterly amazing what fires Progressives up. Not ISIS, not a crummy, low wage economy, nor a host of other serious issues. No, it’s bathrooms for people who are confused about their gender (often because Idiots have placed these ideas in their heads).

Of course, NYC actually has no law: their transgender bathrooms rule was put in place by executive fiat, and, as far as I can determine, has never been passed by the NYC government. And, it was put in place very recently. New York State apparently has no bathrooms law. Will de Blasio ban non-essential travel to the rest of New York? How about to the vast majority of cities and states? Why are city employees traveling on the public dime for “non-essential” trips in the first place?

Later Monday, Gov. Andrew Cuomo issued a statement saying he had signed an executive order banning non-essential state travel to North Carolina. “As long as there is a law in North Carolina that creates the grounds for discrimination against LGBT people, I am barring non-essential state travel to that state,” Cuomo said in the statement.

How about to the vast majority of cities and states in the country? Why are city and state employees traveling on the public dime for “non-essential” trips in the first place? Why has New York not made it the law that confused people can use the bathrooms, locker rooms, and showers of the biological opposite sex?

Meanwhile, Governor McCrory responded to the whining from leftists, explaining his decision to send out a “myths and facts” email

(WRAL) “I’ve got to do it, especially with your editorial pages, which are definitely misleading the public on many items. I’m proud of us protecting the privacy rights of individuals and not putting burdensome regulations on business and letting them make the decision, not government make the decision,” McCrory said when asked about the full-court blitz his administration deployed over the weekend.

In Liberal World, only some people get privacy rights. In this case, they’re pandering to a tiny, tiny number of people who are confused about their gender, wanting them to be able to use whatever bathroom they want, in violation of the privacy of people of the actual gender.

Once again, businesses are legally entitled to allow transgenders to use the bathroom of the sex they identify with. Nothing in the law stops that. It does stop Government from forcing businesses to allow confused gender identity people to use the other sex bathroom. Furthermore, if Liberals do not like this, they are welcome to stay out of our State, and those that are here are welcome to go back to the hell-holes they’ve created in the liberal states and cities they escaped from.

Analysis Shows ‘Climate Change’ Policies Hurt The Poor

(Daily Caller) European global warming policies are hurting the continent’s poor, according to a Manhattan Institute study published Thursday.

Europe has tried to fight global warming with cap-and-trade schemes and lucrative financial support to green power since 2005. Though well-meaning, the continent’s environmental efforts have only made life harder for Europe’s poor.

“The European Union’s renewable-energy policies have had one very clear result: they’ve dramatically raised electricity prices,” Robert Bryce, a senior fellow at the Manhattan Institute who authored the study, told The Daily Caller News Foundation.

Between 2005, when Europe adopted these policies, and 2014, residential electricity rates on the continent increased by 63 percent according to the study. Over the same period, residential rates in the U.S. rose by 32 percent. Germany, Spain and the U.K, which intervened the most in their energy markets, saw their electricity bills rise the fastest, according to the study.

Not that Warmists care, they think they are Saving The Planet, so, Other People must suffer. Of course, the actual policies offered and enacted by the Cult Of Climastrology do not actually make a difference in the planetary temperature.

“What’s The Real Agenda Behind Climate Change Alarmism?”

The world leaders and activists who attended the UN Climate Summit in Paris last December are all about saving the world, saving the environment, right? That’s the standard narrative, isn’t it?

Well, critics, ourselves included, have insisted that the UN climate agenda is really about power and wealth. More precisely, it is about getting the power to redistribute global wealth — through carbon taxes, carbon pricing, carbon trading, and carbon regulation, etc. But don’t take our word for it; the top climateers have said so themselves.

Take, for instance, Dr. Ottmar Edenhoefer — not exactly a household name in America, however, Dr. Edenhofer is a big name in climate policy circles. He says, “We redistribute de facto the world’s wealth by climate policy.”

From 2008 to 2015 Dr. Edenhofer was co-chair of the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change working group on “Mitigation of Climate Change.” He is also deputy director and chief economist of the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research in Germany, one of the climate centers helping write climate policy for the EU, the UN, and the World Bank, and one of the most-cited sources on climate in the mainstream media. During an interview in 2010, Dr. Edenhofer candidly declared, “One has to free oneself from the illusion that international climate policy is environmental policy. This has almost nothing to do with the environmental policy anymore, with problems such as deforestation or the ozone hole.”

And, he added this shocking admission: “We redistribute de facto the world’s wealth by climate policy.”

That’s definitely one portion of it, power and redistribution of wealth, or, should I say, Other People’s wealth, because Warmists never seem very enthused to give up their own money in order to “solve” Hotcoldwetdry. They want power over others, controlling their lives and the private sector. And it’s not just the United Nations, but Leftist leaders and peons around the world.

Say, Who Will Become A Terrorist? Research Has Little Clue

While an overall good article by the NY Times’ Matt Apuzzo, which highlights that Government is often barking up the wrong tree, it does miss the point

Who Will Become a Terrorist? Research Yields Few Clues

The brothers who carried out suicide bombings in Brussels last week had long, violent criminal records and had been regarded internationally as potential terrorists. But in San Bernardino, Calif., last year, one of the attackers was a county health inspector who lived a life of apparent suburban normality.

And then there are the dozens of other young American men and women who have been arrested over the past year for trying to help the Islamic State. Their backgrounds are so diverse that they defy a single profile.

What turns people toward violence — and whether they can be steered away from it — are questions that have bedeviled governments around the world for generations. Those questions have taken on fresh urgency with the rise of the Islamic State and the string of attacks in Europe and the United States. Despite millions of dollars of government-sponsored research, and a much-publicized White House pledge to find answers, there is still nothing close to a consensus on why someone becomes a terrorist.

“After all this funding and this flurry of publications, with each new terrorist incident we realize that we are no closer to answering our original question about what leads people to turn to political violence,” Marc Sageman, a psychologist and a longtime government consultant, wrote in the journal Terrorism and Political Violence in 2014. “The same worn-out questions are raised over and over again, and we still have no compelling answers.”

Mr. Apuzzo goes on to note research that shows it’s not really poverty and money problems that create terrorists, but that the government still acts as if that is the problem. Other factors have been checked, but none seems to be the answer, and some are worried that this could all be intrusive on communities, meaning Muslims, and cast suspicion.

Researching terrorism is admittedly difficult. It involves tough questions about who qualifies as a terrorist, or as a rebel or a soldier. Nelson Mandela? Palestinian suicide bombers? The Taliban of today? The Afghan mujahedeen when the C.I.A. supported them?

Researchers seldom have access to terrorists, and scientific methods, such as control groups, are rare. In 2005, Jeff Victoroff, a University of Southern California psychologist, concluded that the leading terrorism research was mostly just political theory and anecdotes. “A lack of systematic scholarly investigation has left policy makers to design counterterrorism strategies without the benefit of facts,” he wrote in The Journal of Conflict Resolution.

All in all, it’s a fascinating article, an actual bit of journalism rather than advocacy, and worth the read. And, it does beg the question, “how is a terrorist created?” Of course, the answer is dependent on what kind of terrorist. With Islam, the answer is simple: Islam. If, as studies have stated, 10-15% of Muslims are radical jihadis, why not look to see how they are created? Many of them learn this ideology at home, others at Islamic schools, and others at their mosques. They are being taught in one or more about the hardcore version of Islam. It spreads. Their friends and compatriots become more and more radical, as do the individuals. They chat with people on-line, who slowly indoctrinate them into the radical viewpoint. Anger and “righteousness” is instilled in them, and some will move into being a jihadi, willing to perpetrate violent action.

Some studies show that anywhere from 25-40% of Muslims worldwide hold radical Islam views. How do those move into being a fighter? There’s another question. Islam has a problem, and they practitioners need to stamp it out. When the Catholic Church had a big problem with pedophile priests, the entire religion was blamed, and Catholics worked to stamp the pedophilia out. It’s time for Islam to either embrace the Islamist viewpoint, the hardcore, regressive viewpoint, or to stamp it out.

Social Bathroom Warriors To File Federal Lawsuit Against N.C. Transgendered Bathroom Law (Updated)

(WNCN) The American Civil Liberties Union, as well as other gay-rights advocates, will announce a federal lawsuit challenging HB2 after Gov. Pat McCrory signed the bill into law Wednesday night. (snip)

The new law requires public schools, colleges and government agencies to designate bathrooms for people based on their biological sex.

The ACLU, ACLU of North Carolina, Lambda Legal and Equality NC will hold a press conference Monday morning at 10 a.m. at the LGBT Canter of Raleigh.

Interestingly, that reads like a press release, does it not? We aren’t getting any more details from WRAL, the News and Observer, and many other NC news outlets. So, what’s it really about? I found this from WWAYTV, out of Wilmington, which is also in the gay on-line outlet Advocate

In their background on HB 2, the groups take aim at the legislation — which strikes down LGBT-inclusive municipal antidiscrimination ordinances and prohibits cities from adopting any new ones — for not only being discriminatory, but financially improper.

“The North Carolina General Assembly convened a $42,000 special session on Wednesday to pass into law a sweeping measure that prevents local governments in the state from extending nondiscrimination policies to LGBT people and requires restroom access in public facilities, including schools, based on birth assigned sex regardless of a person’s gender identity and lived gender. It also jeopardizes the more than $4.5 billion in federal funding that North Carolina receives for secondary and post-secondary schools under Title IX, which prohibits sex discrimination in educational institutions receiving Federal funding, including discrimination against transgender individuals.”

So, what’s the lawsuit about? Will it be over the requirement that people use the bathroom of their biological sex? I’m doubting that The People are going to side with biological males entering the bathroom, changing room, or shower with their underage daughters (and visa versa for their underage sons). Will it be about the State reiterating that it has primacy, and that cities and counties cannot pass laws that are out of line with State law? All 50 states have this, and, considering that liberals argued that the federal government has primacy over state law, as argued regarding Arizona’s illegal immigration law (and other state’s laws), they don’t have a leg to stand on.

What the ACLU most likely wants is to threaten to litigate this to death, forcing the NC General Assembly to vote to do away with the law. This is the ACLU’s M.O., threats of lawsuits to force compliance, basically, Lawfare.

Regardless of which they try to litigate, the law does have severability. But, seriously, this is what these people are worried about: a tiny minority of citizens who want to use the bathroom of the other biological sex, potentially exposing children to this deviancy. As Jacob Smith says in the comments at WRAL “Geez, What have we come to if a law requiring people to use a public bathroom matching their sex causes such a broohaha.” Yes, what indeed.

“By singling out LGBT people for disfavored treatment and explicitly writing discrimination against transgender people into state law, H.B. 2 violates the most basic guarantees of equal treatment and the U.S. Constitution,” the lawsuit argues.

The complaint argues the law violates people’s equal protection, privacy, and liberty rights under the Fourteenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution and their civil rights under Title IX of the Education Act of 1972.

The lawsuit is asking for a declaratory judgment that the law violates the Constitution and Title IX and an injunction against enforcement of the law.

So, we’ve apparently come to the point where telling people they cannot use the bathroom of the opposite biological gender is discrimination and violates the 14th Amendment and stuff. The suit is going after both the bathrooms and the ability of States to say that state law trumps local law

This lawsuit challenges a sweeping North Carolina law, House Bill 2 (“H.B. 2”), which bans transgender people from accessing restrooms and other facilities consistent with their gender identity and blocks local governments from protecting lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (“LGBT”) people against discrimination in a wide variety of settings. By singling out LGBT people for disfavored treatment and explicitly writing discrimination against transgender people into state law, H.B. 2 violates the most basic guarantees of equal treatment and the U.S. Constitution.

Yes, the ACLU and the others are having hissy fits over bathrooms. And, no, this is not similar to the fight for equal access to bathrooms by Blacks, as many idiotic liberals have argued. Black men were not allowed in men’s bathrooms set for White people, and Black women were not allowed in women’s bathrooms set for White people. That was wrong. And they were given their equal rights. This is about people who have a fantasy, for right or wrong, that they are the opposite sex and want to use the bathroom of a sex that they aren’t biologically. And, as Governor McCrory points out, HB2 doesn’t allow for discrimination against “transgenders”.

But, this all looks rather political and manufactured, as we go back to the Buzzfeed screed

The case was filed overnight in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of North Carolina on behalf of Joaquín Carcaño, a transgender man who works at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill; Payton Grey McGarry, a transgender man who is a student at the University of North Carolina-Greensboro; and Angela Gilmore, a lesbian who is the associate dean for academic affairs at North Carolina Central University. Also named as plaintiffs are the ACLU of North Carolina and Equality North Carolina.

So, why is a lesbian part of the suit? She is not identified as a transgender: is she just wanting to use the men’s bathroom at will? What is her standing?

But, yeah, this is what Liberals are worried about. Not rising health costs, not diminished health care, not the threat from Islamic radicalism, not the collapse of the middle class, not the ever increasing portion of low wage jobs, nope, they are worried about bathroom access for deviants.
