Are You Ready For The “Climatarian Diet”?

We can totally eat to cool the planet or something. You’ve heard most of this before, it’s just the “climatarian diet” schtick that is new

Eating to cool the planet – are you ready for a climatarian diet?

Every year or so you can count on a major report linking what we put on our plate to climate change. Last year the Changing Climate, Changing Diets report from the British think tank Chatham House warned that eating less meat is critical for keeping the global temperature rise under control. This year it was a study from Oxford University saying that if we just stuck to the basic dietary guidelines of eating smaller amounts of meat and more veg we’d shrink food-related greenhouse gas emissions by a third – not to mention save a few million lives along the way thanks to healthier eating.

But is anyone listening?

We might get the link between climate change and burning fossil fuels and even try to limit our use with solar panels and smaller cars, but there’s less awareness that our food choices are also influencing climate change – and that by tweaking our diet we can make a difference.

Obviously, they want Everyone Else to eat less red meat. That goes without saying. Does it need mentioning that most who yammer on refuse to do the same in their own lives? And the food miles schtick.

There’s a word for this climate conscious way of eating – a ‘Climatarian’ diet, a word that Mark Pershin, founder of Less Meat Less Heat wants us to hear more of.

PS: isn’t it wonderful how the news media has become an advocacy format?

Democratic Party Run Chicago Celebrates Memorial Day Weekend With Massive Violence And Gunplay

Welcome to the wonderful Democratic Party run city of Chicago, with all its liberal values, its gun control, its big government dominance, which celebrated Memorial Day the same way they celebrate seemingly every weekend

(NBC Chicago) A 15-year-old girl who was riding in a car on Lake Shore Drive was among the four people killed in shootings across the city so far this Memorial Day weekend.

At least 48 others have been wounded from Friday through Sunday evening, marking another bloody weekend in Chicago. Shootings across the city were as follows:

It’s a long list, which, unsurprisingly, fails to note the names and race of those involved. On the bright side, though

In 2015, 12 people were killed and another 43 wounded in shootings across Chicago over Memorial Day weekend. These incidents come as the Chicago Police Department deployed several thousand additional officers to combat violence over the holiday.

So, deaths are down! Hooray, Liberals! Aren’t there massive gun restrictions in Chicago? They sure seem to be stopping criminals, eh?

But, it does say something about Democratic Party run cities that they need a massive deployment of law enforcement to keep people from going on crime sprees. But, it’s unsurprising, what with Chicago seeing a 50% increase in shootings so far this year over 2015.

Washington Post Suddenly Cares About Our War Dead

It’s always amusing as Memorial Day weekend rolls around and Liberals in the media suddenly become fans of the U.S. military. Until Tuesday. In this case, the Washington Post editorial board has a message

A Memorial Day message to the candidates

THE COUNTRY’S war dead are a kind of closed society, elevated above us by service and sacrifice — in Shakespeare’s words, “a royal fellowship of death.”

We can talk of their courage and sacrifice and make speeches praising their patriotism, but we really have only an inkling of how men (and an increasing number of women) have faced the horrors of combat — and what motivated or compelled them to fight and risk their lives. What we do know is that we have an obligation to honor selflessness and devotion to duty and to ensure that the memory of the dead will not expire with those who bore their loss.

Does this include those Americans who took the side of the Confederacy? Because Leftists, including numerous people at the Washington Post, and the Editorial Board, have been attempting to not just take down and eliminate the Confederate Flag, but tearing down memorials to the Confederate dead, along with such things as removing names from buildings.

But, this isn’t really about our military dead, it’s about assailing politicians. Well, Donald Trump

In July, in the early stages of his improbable progress toward the Republican presidential nomination, Donald Trump was asked about his differences with Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), whom he had described as a “loser.” The questioner asked if it was appropriate to use such language about “a war hero,” and Mr. Trump replied, “He’s a war hero because he was captured. I like people that weren’t captured.” The answer was childish and flippant, and wholly characteristic of the steady stream of puerile insults, half-truths, untruths and innuendo that make up much of Mr. Trump’s campaign. Like most of us, Mr. Trump has no experience of what people confront in war, though he has made it widely known that he went to a really tough military school for teenage boys.

They aren’t wrong in the least: it was a terrible, rude, obnoxious comment. But, McCain is not dead. The WPEB is simply using Memorial Day as a means to bash Trump…who deserves it over the comment, but, is now the time? No.

We haven’t heard much about such qualities in this campaign. Memorial Day would be a good time for candidates of every persuasion who are seeking high office in this country, and for the rest of us too, to start giving some thought and attention not to what we are owed that will enhance our own comfort and security but to what we owe those who went before — that fellowship of death. We could honor them at least in some small measure by standing for what is right and honest rather than what is politic.

So, then, according to the WPEB, Hillary Clinton should drop out. She is utterly dishonest, and likes to do the wrong thing. She left our people hanging in Benghazi and broke the law with her server. The point here, though, was to bash Trump.

Shark Attacks In U.S. Which Haven’t Happened Yet Blamed On Global Warming

If the shark attacks decrease this year, will that be blamed on “global warming”, too?

(UK Daily Mail)  Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water.

As the summer beach season opens across the United States, experts are warning beach goers to take extra precautions as they predict a record number of shark attacks this year.

George Burgess, director of the International Shark Attack File at the University of Florida, warned that the United States could expect more than 100 attacks this year – thanks, in part, to global warming.

‘We should have more bites this year than last,’ Burgess, said in an interview shortly before the Memorial Day holiday weekend that signals the unofficial start of America’s summer vacation – and beach – season.

Also mentioned are shark populations increasing from historic lows in the 1990’s, and having more and more people going to the beach. But, hey, it’s still mostly due to global warming, probably from all those “climate scientists” traveling around the world on fossil fueled vehicles. Nah, probably all those people taking fossil fueled trips to the beach, so, hey, they deserve it.

And if we were all willing to pay big taxes, the sharks would just stop biting people. This is all a big scam based on scaremongering and drafting Madam Zelda to use her tea leaves upon the computer models.

Trump: Say, Did Obama Mention Pearl Harbor While In Japan?

It’s obviously a rhetorical question as Obama continues his apology tour

(CNN) Donald Trump on Saturday questioned why President Barack Obama didn’t mention the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor during his trip this week to Japan.

“Does President Obama ever discuss the sneak attack on Pearl Harbor while he’s in Japan? Thousands of American lives lost. #MDW,” tweeted Trump, the presumptive Republican nominee.

Well, no, of course not. Nor did Obama mention all the Japanese atrocities. Nope, apology tour

Obama did not publicly mention the surprise 1941 attack that pulled the U.S. into World War II while on his historic trip to Japan this week, during which he became the first sitting U.S. president to visit Hiroshima. He used the visit to discuss the threat of nuclear weapons.

“Why do we come to this place, to Hiroshima? We come to ponder the terrible forces unleashed in the not-so-distant past. We come to mourn the dead … their souls speak to us and ask us to look inward. To take stock of who we are and what we might become,” Obama said during his visit to the city’s Peace Memorial Park.

How about who we were. A country that was attacked without a declaration of war in a sucker attack. A nation that thought it better to drop the two atomic bombs to attempt to force Japan to surrender, rather than continuing the island hopping to Japan, then having to bomb the daylights out of the nation before and during an invasion that could see hundreds of thousands killed, with our eye on the primary concern for the Americans that would be killed.

It’s insane that, because of this reckless fool’s visit to Japan, we have to actually re-litigate what happened in 1945, when those two bombs were dropped. Obama called dropping the bombs a mistake, as part of an overall speech

The only mistake was Japan attacking the United States of America. As President Truman stated

Sixteen hours ago an American airplane dropped one bomb on Hiroshima and destroyed its usefulness to the enemy. That bomb had more power than 20,000 tons of TNT. It had more than two thousand times the blast power of the British “Grand Slam” which is the largest bomb ever yet used in the history of warfare.

The Japanese began the war from the air at Pearl Harbor. They have been repaid many fold. And the end is not yet. With this bomb we have now added a new and revolutionary increase in destruction to supplement the growing power of our armed forces. In their present form these bombs are now in production and even more powerful forms are in development. (snip)

We are now prepared to obliterate more rapidly and completely every productive enterprise the Japanese have above ground in any city. We shall destroy their docks, their factories, and their communications. Let there be no mistake; we shall completely destroy Japan’s power to make war.

A president with backbone.

Surprise: Denmark Admits Wind Power Is Too Expensive

One day wind power will be worthwhile monetarily, economically, and personally. I still say that there should be more of a focus on small projects aimed more to individual buildings and homes, empowering (sic) home and business owners to get off the grid. Interestingly, the Big Big Projects empower not just Government, but those big evil companies Progressives say they hate. Buy, anyhow, how is this shaking out?

Denmark has been heading the vanguard in the battle for wind power, but now admits it’s become too expensive

Denmark has led the charge for renewable energy, but now the green policies have become too expensive.

In 2015, Denmark set a new world record by generating the equivalent of 42.1% of the country’s total energy consumption by wind. Denmark is also the world’s largest exporter of wind power equipment. So it’s fair to say that Denmark is perhaps the world’s leading wind power nation.

Yay, Denmark!

The Danish consumers and companies pay the highest prices for electricity within the European Union, EU, according to an analysis from the European Electricity Association, Eurelectric.

The analysis showed that in 2014 a staggering 66 percent of the average Danish electricity bill went to taxes and fees, 18 percent to transportation and only 15 percent of the price was for the electricity in itself. Only Germany came close with 52 percent in electricity taxes.

Without all these extra costs Danes would pay below the European average for their energy.

“We can’t accept this, as the private sector and households are paying far too much. Denmark’s renewable policy has turned out to be too expensive,” the climate minister said.

Anyone who is shocked, raise your hand.

Trump Is Worse Than Everyone Thought On ‘Climate Change’ Or Something

So, Donald Trump gave a speech on energy Thursday, or so I hear. I was actually watching the speech live, but tuned out when he wasn’t seeming to get to the energy part, just typical rambling by Donald on this and that and the other. But, Mashable supposedly listened to it, or, most likely, read someone else’s story on the speech. Regardless, in an “analysis” by Andrew Freeman

Trump on climate: He’s even worse than we thought

No one expected Donald Trump to give a single energy speech and suddenly pivot to the left on global warming, after a record of expressing skepticism that global warming exists on several prior occasions.

However, few of even the most die-hard, wary environmentalists likely expected what they got on Thursday, when Trump both effectively clinched the nomination and gave a dismissive energy speech in North Dakota.

The speech amounted to a broadside against the Obama administration’s climate and energy policies, as well as Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton’s proposals, in addition to climate science and energy market realities.

Well, that is a good thing in my book. We need to use our own energy sources, including oil and natural gas. Any Warmist who doesn’t like it should give up their own use of oil immediately.

Fortunately for Paris agreement fans, Trump cannot unilaterally cancel it, but he can mortally wound it.

Freeman doesn’t say why, he simply just continues a meme being propagated by Warmists. In fact, Trump, if he wins the presidency, can simply issue an executive order cancelling America’s participation. For all intent purposes, that is how America joined the Paris climate accord. It was never ratified by the Senate, hence, it has no force of law.

Whether a President Trump would pull out of the accords is another question.

Trump went so far as to imply that climate change is a “phony” environmental concern when he said:

“A Trump administration will focus on real environmental challenges, not the phony ones we’ve been looking at.”

This is one of the few things I like about Trump. However, I do not trust him, as there have been vacillations on the subject. He is right, though, that we should deal with real environmental issues, not this phony manufactured on on ‘climate change’, which is really just a left wing attempt to increase taxes, along with more governmental control of people, energy, private institutions, and the economy, mostly at the federal level.

Instead of speaking truth to power and saying that the glory days of “drill, baby, drill” may be gone, as a market-based transition to renewable energy continues, he chose to throw red meat to the crowd.

As opposed to Democrats like Hillary and Bernie, who yammer on about ‘climate change’ before getting on fossil fueled planes and SUVs.

This speech effectively put Trump at the top of the enemies list for every climate advocate, business executive and world leader committed to taking the climate threat seriously. The reality is that Trump’s policies as he presented them today cannot be implemented if we are to have any hope of containing global warming to a somewhat manageable level.

The policies as written and pushed by most Warmists would have a negligible effect on the climate (in theory) to start with, so, ignoring them won’t change the end results, particularly since Mankind has only a tiny effect on global effects of a warming climate, which, surprise, has been happening off and on throughout the Holocene. But, hey, good news, Trump has made the top of the enemies list! Fascists/authoritarians love their enemies lists.
