It’s going to be a NY Times heavy blogging day, because, quite frankly, the Fish Wrap is a constant source of amusement for me, what with the far far left opinions, stories, their utter buy in on ‘climate change’ (while refusing to make any changes in the writers lives nor at for the Times’ operations), and their utter partisanship

Since declaring his candidacy for president last June, Donald Trump has used Twitter to lob insults at presidential candidates, journalists,news organizations, nations, a Neil Young song and even a lectern in the Oval Office. We know this because we’ve read, tagged and quoted them all. Below, a directory of sorts, with links to the original tweets. Insults within the last 60 days are highlighted. RELATED ARTICLE

Seriously, the two writers, JASMINE C. LEE and KEVIN QUEALY, took the time to do this. Interestingly, they don’t take the time, nor do the other writers, to investigate Hillary or other Democrats in the same manner.

Some are really insults. Some are just standard politics. Some are just silly, such as

It continues on and on and on. Sure, there are some true insults in there. Some is just commentary that’s right on the mark. Heck, we could go to the opinion pages of most newspapers, including the Times, and find similar insults being lobbed at Trump. Also, in the “news” sections.

But, the Times had little problem with Hillary declaring half of the Trump supporters as “deplorables.” Going by the primaries numbers, that would be 6.65 million Americans insulted.

How about the parents of those killed in Benghazi, who were lied to by Hillary and called liars on multiple occasions by Hillary and her team?

Hillary has obviously insulted Trump, to go hand in hand with the big list from the Times of Trump insulting Hillary. She’s insulted Millenials and environmentalists. She’s insulted the disabled. Black people.

Let’s not forget all the people and places Obama has insulted. I have a big list which I stopped bothering updating a few years ago, because Obama keeps insulting the same people again and again. Friendly countries, their leaders, and, of course, Americans. Sometimes Americans as a whole.

Where’s the outrage from the NY Times on this? For the most part, I’m not defending Trump, though, some of those insults are really more of “insults”, big nothing burgers. Just noting that difference in treatment. And that the NY Times is also over-doing it with their highlighting of “insults.”

Things The NY Times Is Very Worried About: Pig Farms In North Carolina

Of all the subjects the NY Times editorial board could chime in on, this one’s a hoot (don’t worry, though, because I have another one set up for later today)

North Carolina’s Noxious Pig Farms

The landscape of eastern North Carolina is dotted with giant pools of bright pink sludge. These are waste lagoons, where industrial farms across the state dispose of billions of gallons of untreated pig urine and feces every year.

The waste can carry E. coli, salmonella, cryptosporidium and other bacteria that can lead to serious illness or death if they spread to humans. After Hurricane Matthew deluged North Carolina this month, at least 14 of the lagoons flooded.

Environmental advocates and state officials have been flying over regions to identify overflowing lagoons where floodwaters have become mixed with the waste, a public health hazard that could last for weeks as bacteria flow into rivers and streams, potentially sickening those who come into contact with those waters.

Bacteria can also contaminate groundwater, the main source of drinking water for more than three million North Carolinians. Meanwhile, the nitrogen and phosphorus in hog waste can kill fish and damage ecosystems. State officials are now beginning to test rivers to assess the level of contamination.

Now, this is certainly a concern from a purely environmental and health point of view. And boy howdy do they smell. We used to drive by one on the way from ECU to Emerald Isle back in the day, and if the wind was wrong, even rolling up the windows made no difference. That said, I’m assuming the NYTEB will assault the pig farms in NY state and refuse to eat any pork, right? Wait for it

In states where hog farmers use waste lagoons, like North Carolina and Illinois, flooding is a serious hazard that may become more frequent as climate change leads to more severe storms. Even under normal conditions, lagoons can produce dangerous gases, noxious smells and dust containing hog waste. People living near these lagoons are at increased risk of asthma, diarrhea, eye irritation, depression and other health problems.

North Carolina took steps toward protecting its residents by passing a moratorium on new lagoons in 1997 and making it permanent in 2007. But around 4,000 lagoons constructed before 1997 remain in active use. Unless North Carolina and other states require agriculture companies to change their waste-disposal methods, what happened after Hurricane Matthew will happen again.

So, what recommendations are the NY Times editorial board offering? Really, none. And without offering solutions, that’s what you call “whining.’ The point here, though, is to whine about ‘climate change.’ These people. Sheesh.

Team Obama Confirms Big Ocare Hikes, Reduced Choice

If only someone had told us that this would happen due to the way the law was written and implemented. Seriously, this is coming out of the blue

(AP) Premiums will go up sharply next year under President Barack Obama’s health care law, and many consumers will be down to just one insurer, the administration confirmed Monday. That’s sure to stoke another “Obamacare” controversy days before a presidential election.

Before taxpayer-provided subsidies, premiums for a midlevel benchmark plan will increase an average of 25 percent across the 39 states served by the federally run online market, according to a report from the Department of Health and Human Services. Some states will see much bigger jumps, others less.

Moreover, about 1 in 5 consumers will only have plans from a single insurer to pick from, after major national carriers such as UnitedHealth Group, Humana and Aetna scaled back their roles.

“Consumers will be faced this year with not only big premium increases but also with a declining number of insurers participating, and that will lead to a tumultuous open enrollment period,” said Larry Levitt, who tracks the health care law for the nonpartisan Kaiser Family Foundation.

Obviously, many Republicans jumped on this news, proclaiming the law a failure, pretty much as they said it would be. Senator Orrin Hatch stated that the law “does little to dispel the notion we are seeing the law implode at the expense of middle-class families.”

And, of course

Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton has proposed an array of fixes, including sweetening the law’s subsidies and allowing more people to qualify for financial assistance.

So, rather than replacing the law with something that works, she’d prefer to double down and throw more money at the problem, proving that Obama was lying about the costs of Ocare.

This will surely mean more calls from Democrats for a “public option”. Health and Human Services Secretary Sylvia Burwell was out on the trail recently, surely having already known the horrendous Ocare numbers, pimping for a “government option.” Everything is going exactly like predicted. Opponents of Ocare said that prices would go way up while killing off insurers, and that Dems would call for even more government control, up to a public option followed by pushing for single payer.  And that’s what is happening.

Democrats own this turd of a law. It’s all on them.

Surprise: We’ve Hit Another “Tipping Point”

Never let a good talking point go to waste

400 parts per million: We’ve reached a climate change “tipping point”

In September, the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere stayed over 400 parts per million for the first time in thousands of years, a level more than 100 ppm over the atmosphere’s natural variations.

Um, no. Cute fake fact, though.

Four hundred ppm had been labeled as a “tipping point,” at which the climate would begin an unstoppable slide into hotter temperatures.

Yet Jonathan Overpeck Ph.D., co-director of the Institute of the Environment , said the number is more symbolic than scientific, though still a cause for concern.

“We don’t know if the tipping point was higher or lower than this,” Overpeck said. “There are actually many different tipping points.”

OK, so, despite the headline, it’s utterly bunk scientifically, and this little Warmist is trying to scare people.

The UA may not be planning for sweeping changes, but it’s still a leader in climate research and climate solutions, and has been working to help inform decision makers on human adaptation techniques and the maintenance of natural ecosystems, according to Overpeck.

“We are ground zero for climate change in the U.S.,” Overpeck said. “We have the most urgent reasons to act on climate change.”

Ground zero? I thought that it was Alaska? Or Tuvvulo? This island or that island? I’m confused.

“We can’t just look for technological or financial solutions,” Martinez-Lugo said. “We need to look for philosophical and moral solutions as well. There is no silver bullet.”

In other words, we’re back to my talking point, that this is about governmental control. It’s interesting that so many young folks, like the writer, Melissa Hefferman, a student at the University of Arizona, used to be about freedom and liberty and sticking it to the man and such. Now, they’re all about advocating for reducing their lifestyles, increasing their costs of living, limiting their jobs market chances, and increasing the role of government within their own lives. All over this mythical “tipping point.”

Oops: Claim That Climate Change Caused Coffee Killing Fungus Was Wrong

Another Cult of Climastrology talking point found to be wrong? The hell you say!

(UK Telegraph) Fears that climate change is triggering a coffee killing fungus which could wipe out plantations are unfounded, a new study suggests.

Last month a report by The Climate Institute warned that an increase in wet and warm conditions was driving the spread of coffee leaf rust which attacks crops, causing plants to wither and stop producing beans.

The experts warned that by 2080, coffee could become extinct if temperatures continue to rise.

Then that pesky thing known as “Science” got involved, along with Reality

But a new study by the University of Exeter suggests that plantations are suffering due to a much more prosaic reason. Lack of funds.

They studied coffee plantations in Columbia where production fell by about 40 per cent between 2008 and 2011 because of severe outbreak of coffee rust

However Dr Dan Bebber, lead author, said that the crisis had been driven by the ‘perfect storm’ of weather coupled with a decrease in fertiliser use due to price rises during the 2008 financial crisis.

“Farmers weren’t treating coffee bushes as they normally would, and this was probably one of the factors that led to the rise in coffee leaf rust,” said Dr Bebber.

They found that during a time with similar weather conditions, there were no problems, because the plants were treated like normal.

The team found there was ‘no evidence’ to link the outbreak of coffee leaf rust with climate change.

The paper, published in the Royal Society Journal Philosophical Transactions B, concluded: “We find no evidence for an overall trend in disease risk in coffee-growing regions of Colombia from 1990 to 2015, therefore, while weather conditions were more conducive to disease outbreaks from 2008 to 2011, we reject the climate change hypothesis.”

I hope the people involved in the study are ready to be insulted, demeaned, and even threatened by members of the Cult of Climastrology.

ACLU Has Hissy Fit Over Ceremony Honoring Police At High School Football Game

Ceremony honoring police before HS game sends ‘frightening message,’ ACLU says

A ceremony honoring law enforcement, military and first responders before a high school football game Friday night drew criticism from the American Civil Liberties Union of New Jersey because of an underlying “frightening message.”

The ceremony was held before a highly-anticipated Shore Conference clash between two topped ranked teams in the state, Middletown South and Toms River North.

The ceremony, organized by Middletown police Deputy Chief Stephen Dollinger, featured State Police Pipes and Drums of the Blue and Gold, state and local mounted units, military personnel from all branches of service and officers from surrounding police departments and sheriff’s units.

It also honored the Linden police officer who was wounded in a shootout withAhmad Khan Rahimi, who is accused of bombings in Seaside Park, Elizabeth and New York City.

And here’s where the ACLU had a fit

Dollinger told the Asbury Park Press before the event that the ceremony was also meant to respond to pro athletes who have taken a knee during pre-game performances of the national anthem, most notably by San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick.

“It’s OK to stand up for social justice, inequality and reform,” Dollinger told the newspaper. “It’s another thing to not stand up for the national anthem.”

The ACLU of NJ really didn’t like that anyone would dare use their 1st Amendment Rights to respond to others engaging in their 1st Amendment Rights

“As initially described, the event appeared to honor police officers, veterans, service members, and first responders,” the ACLU wrote to the district. “According to press reports, however, the event is being used to intimidate and ostracizepeople who express their views about systemic racism and social just.”

“Law enforcement officers are sworn to protect the constitution, and it is a disservice to the students and players that an event that should focus on them, their families, and their communities is being used to send a message that people who express concerns about disparities in the criminal justice system are unwelcome, disloyal or unpatriotic,” the letter states.

Jasmine Crenshaw, an organizer with the ACLU-NJ, said the event sends a “frightening message” that law enforcement will not tolerate people expressing their views on the nation’s “history of unequal treatment and systematic oppression.”

“Entrance to one of the biggest sporting events in the area should not require that someone accept an atmosphere that suppresses political protest,” Crenshaw said in a statement. “The magnitude of this event chills the belief that police should be held accountable when they abuse their power or discriminate against people of color, and pressures student athletes to act as props of the police.”

Free speech for me, but not for thee. It’s simply typical of people nowadays to turn the amplifier up to 11 on everything, and overly magnify everything.

Really, though, can we simply watch sports without political messages? Personally, I don’t want to see them either way. Just let me watch a game.

NY Times: An Illegal Immigrant Murderer Is Not Really An Illegal Immigrant Or Something

The lead opinion piece at the Internet version of the NY Times is a doozy (note: the dead tree edition has a different headline)

My Wife’s Killer Was Not an ‘Illegal Immigrant’

On Nov. 1, 2006, I found my wife, Adrienne Shelly, dead in her West Village office. Adrienne, an actor and filmmaker, had been brutally murdered by a 19-year-old undocumented Ecuadorean construction worker; he later said they were having an argument and, fearing she would report him and have him deported, he killed her and staged her death so it would appear to be a suicide. Our daughter was just 2 years old at the time.

So, he was unlawfully present in the United States, meaning he was an illegal immigrant.

Given the anger and grief I still feel, I could easily be seduced by Donald J. Trump’s anti-immigrant rhetoric that is the cornerstone of his presidential run. “They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists,” he said as he began his campaign in 2015. And in these final weeks before the election, rather than tacking to the middle, he seems to be doubling down. “We’ve got some bad hombres,” he said in last week’s debate, referring to immigrants who commit crimes.

So, in other words, this is mostly a screed against Trump from a Democrat. He admits he’s a Democrat in an early paragraph, moving towards

But Adrienne was not murdered by an illegal immigrant, per se. She fell victim to a depraved killer who simply happened to be an undocumented immigrant. It is an obvious distinction, almost too obvious, but it’s an important one to consider as the country goes further down the dangerous path of demonizing those not born here.

Just happened to be her illegally. So, she was killed by an illegal immigrant. Seriously, the lengths Democrats go to defend illegals is breathtaking. Even though Trump has never specifically mentioned his wife, as he writes in the article. And he continues defending illegals just like you expect, with typical leftist talking points.

While I believe that the country must do more to secure its borders, deport noncitizen criminals and protect Americans from foreign terrorists, I also believe we must find a realistic, humane path to citizenship for the millions of decent, hard-working immigrants who love this country as much as I do, regardless of whether they are documented or not. We need the kind of compassionate reform that Democrats have been advocating for decades in the face of persistent Republican obstructionism.

That is what Adrienne would want.

First, she’d probably not want to be murdered, especially by someone who should not have been in the country in the first place. Second, for all Trump’s bluster, he does want to secure the borders. Hillary does not. He wants illegal criminals out. Hillary does not. Trump does want to protect Americans from foreign terrorists. Hillary? Not so much. Interestingly, if we go by Trump’s comments from 2012, he has the same opinion

In a June 2012 interview with CNBC’s “Squawk Box,” Trump said he didn’t believe in deporting immigrants who “had done a great job,” according to CNN’s KFile.

Trump said he was “probably down the middle” when asked about his views on immigrant labor.

“Because I also understand how, as an example, you have people in this country for 20 years, they’ve done a great job, they’ve done wonderfully, they’ve gone to school, they’ve gotten good marks, they’re productive — now we’re supposed to send them out of the country, I don’t believe in that, Michelle, and you understand that,” he told the host. “I don’t believe in a lot things that are being said.”

Just remember, in Liberal World, linking immigration status with crime is a no no. Even though Mr. Ostroy somewhat contradicts himself with that bit about “noncitizen criminals.”
