Scientists Are Uncertain Why Earth Is Leaking Oxygen, But, They’re Willing To Think It’s ‘Climate Change’

This is has been going on for 800,000 years, but, hey, it’s still probably your fault for driving a fossil fueled vehicle (via Powerline)

Earth’s atmosphere is slowly leaking oxygen, and scientists aren’t sure why

Don’t panic, but researchers have discovered that oxygen is (very) slowly draining out of Earth’s atmosphere, and right now, they’re not sure why.

By analysing air bubbles trapped inside ice cores from Greenland and Antarctica, a team from Princeton University has found oxygen levels have dropped by 0.7 percent in the last 800,000 years, and figuring out why could be crucial to predicting our planet’s future.

Getting the answer isn’t going to be easy though – oxygen on our planet is constantly being recycled by humans, animals, plants, and even silicate rock. Right now, ice cores are among the best ways we have of getting fixed readings of how much oxygen is present.

You know what’s coming, right?

An increase in erosion rates is one hypothesis behind the oxygen drop – more erosion would expose and oxidise more fresh sediment, reducing atmospheric oxygen levels.

Another possible cause is long-term climate change – over the last few million years, we’ve seen a slight overall drop in global temperatures, even though Earth has been rapidly heating up over the past half a century.

But before we started burning huge amounts of fossil fuels after the industrial revolution, the ocean was very slowly cooling, and that could have set off an ecological chain reaction where it started consuming more oxygen out of the atmosphere.

OK, so they are just “hypotheses that need further testing.”

While the rate of oxygen decline is nothing to worry about just yet, Stolper does have a warning about the last 200 years since the industrial revolution started, data which isn’t included in the new report.

“We are consuming O2 at a rate a factor of a thousand times faster than before,” he told Gizmodo. “Humankind has completely short-circuited the cycle by burning tonnes of carbon… it’s yet another indication of our collective ability to do what happens [naturally] on the Earth, yet so much faster.”

So, there you go. Time to panic.

Charlotte Protesters Have Their List Of Demands Post Shooting

Because of course they do. These little Social Justice Warriors always have their list of demands. And it’s a real hoot that this always seems to be a bunch of leftists making a list of demands for Democrats who are in charge of the areas where things have gone wrong. Like in Charlotte

(Heat Street) Protesters in Charlotte have released a list of demands they say must be met before they allow the city to return to peace and quiet.

Although Friday and Saturday saw a return to some semblance of order — thanks to push-back from Charlotte’s police department, and a curfew designed to prevent the type of violence seen earlier in the week – the “CharLIT Uprising,” as it’s now known, says that the “damage is done” and that the city will remain in a “state of emergency” until their demands are met.

It’s quite a wish-list. Among the requests: a complete “demilitarization” of the Charlotte-Mecklenberg Police force (including the “immediate return of all military equipment”; “defunding” the CMPD’s $250 million budget; a citizen oversight board from “communities most impacted by policing and incarceration” that can fire officers; and reparations for Keith L. Scott’s family “as well as the families of those who have been killed.”

It is quite a list. They want all those arrested during the “uprising” released immediately and all charges dropped. We assume they include those involved in arson, assault, vandalism, breaking and entering, and theft. Oh, and what about the guy arrested for murdering another protester? Is he included for release and dropped charges? Of course, because these special snowflakes think a police officer shot and killed Justin Carr.

7. THE RELEASE OF ALL THE NAMES OF THE OFFICERS INVOLVED IN THE KILLING OF KEITH L. SCOTT TO THE PUBLIC FOLLOWED BY THEIR FIRING, ARREST AND PROSECUTION

So much for due process. They’re basically a lynch mob.

9. COMMUNITY CONTROL OF THE POLICE, STARTING WITH THE CREATION OF A CIVILIAN OVERSIGHT BOARD THAT HAS THE POWER TO HIRE AND FIRE OFFICERS, DETERMINE DISCIPLINARY ACTIONS AS WELL AS DICTATE POLICE POLICIES, PRIORITIES, AND BUDGETS. THE BOARD SHALL NOT INCLUDE POLICE REPRESENTATION AND WILL BE CONTROLLED BY COMMUNITIES MOST IMPACTED BY POLICING AND INCARCERATION IN CHARLOTTE.

Well, there’s a great idea. Let’s put the people who have the most violence in their communities in charge of the police who have to attempt to stop the violence in the most criminal communities.

Seriously, why do Democrat Party voters in a Democratic Party run city have so many problems with how the city is run by Democrats? It’s almost like Democratic Party policies first create the conditions of criminality, poverty, and violence.

Unsurprisingly, they are now starting to mix all their other gripes into the mix. Among the events planned for Monday the 26th, we get

Black fast food workers in Charlotte are going on strike tomorrow to protest poverty wages and police brutality and will be marching over to do a speak out in front of the police station at 5:30pm @ 601 E Trade Street.

I wonder how many will be fired for blowing off work? It’s not like they can’t be replaced in a heartbeat.

The Things That Donald And Hillary Need To Do Tonight

It’s finally here, the cage match of the century. Politico notes

Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump will debate for 90 minutes on Monday. But the winner likely will be determined in the first half-hour.

That’s when Al Gore first sighed, Mitt Romney knocked President Obama on his heels, and Marco Rubio, earlier this year, glitched in repeating the same talking point — over and over and over. It’s when Gore tried, unsuccessfully, to invade George W. Bush’s space, Richard Nixon was first caught wiping away sweat with a handkerchief (during the moderators’ introductions!) and Gerald Ford in 1976 made the ill-advised declaration that, “There is no Soviet domination of Eastern Europe.”

Veteran presidential debate coaches and campaign strategists say the tone and trajectory of general election debates have long been set in their opening minutes, and that the explosion of real-time spin and Twitter groupthink has only accelerated the trend.

Those first 30 minutes are when people are really listening and watching. So, what do Hillary and Donald need to do during those 30 minutes? USA Today offers separate articles on the 4 things each candidate needs to do. Starting with Hillary

  1. Play offense – they think she needs to excite the base, who, so far, is utterly unexcited and barely show up for her tiny events.
  2. Be more likable – She needs to be less snarky and more humorous and warm. Well, good luck with that.
  3. Outline a positive vision – Other than showing her supposed work for children, her campaign has been primarily negative towards Trump. Will that change?
  4. Go off script – people think she’s too scripted. Do not expect that to change.
  5. Have a compelling answer about Iraq and Syria – As USA Today notes, voters are very leery of Middle East policy judgement, and Trump constantly talks about her bad judgement. Her best bet here is to provide answers that will not allow Trump to utterly hit her back.

Missing from the list is to show people that she’s not sick, frail, and low energy. And, really, the #1 thing Hillary needs to do is to not allow Trump to get her off her game. He was tremendous at this during the GOP debates against politicians who knew better and had experience, and he still did it.

As for the 5 things for Trump

  1. Meet the presidential threshold – he needs to appear and act presidential. Keep his cool. This debate is not for his base, this is for all the rest of the Republicans who are not as enthused, as well as the independents.
  2. Play good defense – this is interesting. USA Today is expecting that Trump will be asked questions on his Birtherism, alleged ties to Russia, etc. They didn’t offer the same advice to Hillary, who has considerably worse scandals.
  3. Stay on the attack – they say he needs to impeach Hillary’s so-called qualifications. That won’t be all that hard, not with 100 million people watching.
  4. Manage a one-on-one debate – he’s going to have to talk longer and manage the interaction between just him and Hillary.
  5. Effectively handle the gender dynamic – in other words, he can’t appear sexist by bullying her the same way he did with male opponents, because fragile Hillary needs to be protected, you guys!

What Trump needs to do is have a nice, even debate. Do not go for the knockout punch, and be careful when Hillary gives him an opening, because it could be a set-up. The idea here is to not lose. A tie or a slight win for Trump would be a big loss for Hillary. He should calmly discuss how bad her policies have worked. The failures in Libya and Benghazi. How she put her personal convenience over national security with her email. Her general failures in the Middle East as Sec of State. And so much more. And show energy and vitality to Hillary’s low energy.

Gloria Steinen: Abortion Is A Solution For ‘Climate Change’ Or Something

The Cult of Climastrology has long been on the population reduction bandwagon. Usually for Other People. They love pimping the notion of population suppression for “people of color”, generally meaning black people in Africa and “yellow” people in Asia. Now we get this (via Twitchy)

As Twitchy’s Sam J notes

Not just children but FORCED CHILDBIRTH. Like women don’t play a part in getting pregnant, it’s just sporadically forced on them by some mystical pregnancy fairy.

So basically what Gloria is doing here is pushing abortion as a means to stop global warming.

Let’s not forget that Progressives, who have pretty much taken over the Democratic Party, have long been disciples of eugenics, usually aimed at non-White people and undesirables. They thought abortion on demand was a great way to reduce the Black population, and are doing a great job at that! And, like so many things, those who are members of the Cult of Climastrology have linked abortion to the cultish beliefs. It’s what they do.

If only they’d follow their own advice and refuse to have any children, we might be mostly free of their bat guano insane nutbaggery in a few decades.

Don’t forget to check out all the other great material all the linked blogs have!

Anyone else have a link or hotty-fest going on? Let me know so I can add you to the list. (BTW, since someone asked, the reason I leave links for the previous week up (or you might see a *) is because they are place holders for later in the day or for next weeks. Easier than rewriting all the time. Also, the listing order has to do with how they are added over time, not how good a post is. I just copy and paste from the previous week, then edit. If you see one of the *’s, go ahead and check out the blog anyhow, see if there is an update. I cannot update with my Android during the day.

Say, How Could Sexxxxxism Hurt Hillary During The Debates?

The media and their Democrat comrades have long attempted to set the conditions where if Hillary loses, it will be do to outside factors having nothing to do with her. It won’t be due to her being a horrible, horrible candidate. It won’t be because she’s rather boring. Or because people are worried about her health. Or that her polices are bad for the middle and lower classes. Or that people who think she is Obama’s third term, having watched the blase economy, the dictatorial style of Obama, how Ocare is failing, the terrible foreign policy, etc. It won’t be due to her being bad at connecting with people. She just doesn’t have that certain something that people like Bill Clinton, Obama, and others have. Nope. It’s sexxxxxism. Now Anna Waters attempts to say if she loses the debate, it will be due to sexxxxxism

How could sexism hurt Clinton in the debates? These female high school debaters know.

Yes, that is correct, Ms. Waters is actually making the case of sexxxxxism towards Hillary by using high school kids. Nothing says “ready to be president of the United States” like being compared to high school females, because, we all know how stable teenagers (male or female) tend to be.

On the national stage, another woman has been battling the gendered perception of what it is to be “presidential,” both in debates and on the campaign trail. “I just don’t think she has a presidential look, and you need a presidential look,” Donald Trump declared this month of his opponent, Hillary Clinton, the second time in two days he’d expressed skepticism about Clinton’s “presidential” appearance and the umpteenth time Clinton has faced gendered mockery. Her political rivals and a cadre of pundits, on the left and the right, have taken her to task for the way she presents herself in debates and speeches — her voice, her clothing, her level of emotion — in a way that resonates with a group far from the world of national politics: female high school debaters. As a former high school debater who now coaches, I know something about how Clinton will be judged when she takes the debate stage against Trump on Monday night.

Ms. Waters is a junior at Northwestern University. Surprisingly, she is majoring in journalism, not Women’s Studies. Still means she’s a leftist, though. So, of course, this is what presidential looks like

https://twitter.com/BardOfEarth/status/776333841808039937

The female high school debaters I know have been belittled by male opponents and told to shush. Judges and parents call these young women naggy, shrill and even bitchy. They’re told to smile more and sometimes get more in-depth criticism of their hem length than their argumentation. Isabelle Bavis, a junior at Evanston Township High School in Illinois, who has been called “screechy” on ballots, puts it simply: “The language they use to correct us is not the same language used when correcting the boys.”

Welcome to the Real World, honey. Oh, wait, sorry, that was misogynistic. My bad. Well, not really. Anyhow, no worries about Hillary being her typical shrill self. She’s either

or looks like death warmed over

https://twitter.com/wendyvoss/status/778017350985461760

Or her eye is wandering. Or she’s yelling at people. Or, she’s apparently akin to a high school female with raging hormones (whoops, that’s a paternalistic saying), which is exactly what we need for president, AmIRight? Because the opinion piece goes on and on and on like a women in a shoe store (sorrynotsorry), getting to

Many female debaters have learned to modulate their voices and temper their emotions to win within this structure, something Clinton discussed doing in a recent interview with Humans of New York. Ella Fanger, a senior at Oakwood School in Los Angeles, says she has to moderate her tone to resist falling into gendered traps.

Uh, yeah, men do this too. In fact, huge numbers of people do this in all facets of life. There are classes in speech, tone, and boy language modification. Would you buy a car from someone who sounds bored, screechy, obnoxious, or too loud? It annoys the hell out of me when football analysts are constantly talking so loud as to almost be yelling. I rather tune them out. Would you trust your doctor if they were were shrill, male or female? Would you want some who looks like death warmed over touching you?

“Clinton faces similar challenges in terms of trying to both confront stereotypes but at the same time being weirdly beholden to them, because she needs voters to vote for her in the same way I need a judge to vote for me,” Fanger says. “I don’t have full freedom to fight the patriarchy in the way I want to because it’s a competitive activity. I’m in that room to get the ballot.”

Which, come November, is exactly what another woman seeks to do. And whether or not these young debaters want Clinton to be president, they are hoping her candidacy helps change what it means to be a woman in debate — and what it means to be “presidential.”

Let’s boil it down: if she loses, well, it’s that darned patriarchy and sexxxxxism. Not Clinton collapsing on 9/11, not her inibility to walk a flight of stairs without help, and certainly not that she’s just a terrible candidate who would be getting slaughtered if a portion of the GOP hadn’t gotten Donald Trump to be the GOP nominee. This is simply setting the stage for Blamestorming if she blows the first debate.

Warmists Want Debate To Include Questions On Hotcoldwetdry

Anthropogenic climate change is an issue that continuously polls last or near last on lists of issues American citizens care about. Raw Story says questions on climate change aren’t sexy enough, so, they are ignored. Nope. Most people just don’t care in the face of real concerns. Which leads to Excitable Greg Sargent at the Washington Post

Memo to debate moderators: Ask questions about climate change this time. A lot is riding on it.

Donald Trump believes climate science is a hoax perpetrated by the Chinese to rob America blind, and he vows to try to pull the United States out of the Paris climate accord immediately upon being elected president. Meanwhile, as Coral Davenport recently reported, world leaders have been trying to figure out if there is a way to lock in major countries behind the global deal before Trump can do that, because such an action could badly weaken the deal’s long term success.

In other words, international leaders are literally scrambling around to salvage the planet’s long-term prospects from Donald Trump. If he were to try to pull us out, it could not only deal a debilitating blow to the deal itself; one expert has warned it could also precipitate a diplomatic crisis.

If only there were an exceptionally high profile setting in which Trump might be pressed to detail his views on these matters.

Obviously, he’s referring to the presidential candidate debate on Monday night, and he wants questions asked (I guess to bore people?)

…the positions of the presidential candidates on climate issues could have vastly more real world significance than they might have four years ago. Take the Paris accord. It’s not clear yet whether Trump could succeed in withdrawing the U.S. from the deal in the short term, but even if he didn’t, there are other ways that Trump could frustrate its progress, simply by refusing to participate in international meetings about it or by refusing to submit reports documenting U.S. contributions to it.

All Trump needs to do is sign a paper that says “The U.S. will not participate in the Paris accord.” It’s that easy, since it is not a treaty requiring Congressional approval, hence, no force of law.

Then there’s Obama’s Clean Power Plan, a rule that imposes targets on states for the reduction of carbon emissions from existing power plants. The plan is currently held up in the courts, but if it ends up proceeding, it will be key to long term efforts to reduce carbon pollution, and to meeting our commitments as part of the global deal. Trump has vowed to repeal the rule, along with untold other regulations, but that might be harder than it looks. Still, there are various ways he could undermine it.

Again, Trump could simply use his pen to wipe it out, since it is not something passed by Congress. And liberals would have no standing to complain, after all the times Obama used executive actions, including those in contradiction to the law.

The debate moderators would do us all a service by prodding the candidates to discuss and illuminate these differences. A lot is riding on them — perhaps even more than on whether Trump comes across as “presidential” and Clinton comes across as “likeable,” if such a thing is possible.

Yes, perhaps they could ask Hillary how her plan will increase the energy costs, food costs, cost of living, remove their liberty, and increase the power of government over everything. How it will put people out of work. So, maybe it wouldn’t be such a bad idea. Trump could frame it all in a manner that will highlight exactly how much the policies of the Cult of Climastrology will hurt average citizens. Perhaps it is high time we actually had this debate beyond the “spreading awareness” stage, and outside of the pages of the Opinion section, where people who write about how we have to Do Something are not only being hypocrites, but make enough money that the policies wouldn’t really harm them.

Snowflakes Can’t Even Give Up Their Smartphones During A Die In

NC State totally stands in solidarity with things they really do not know about

Would that be in solidarity for those who protested peaceably, or those who looted stores, broke windows, damaged cars, assaulted people, tried to throw a reporter in a burning trash can, etc?

(WTVD) Students at NC State joined the growing protest movement over the police shooting death of Keith Lamont Scott, in Charlotte.

About 300 students staged a die-in at the student union on Friday evening.

It began with a gathering on Wolf Plaza. Demonstrators arrived wearing all black. Then, in unity with the demonstrators in Charlotte, they marched in to the student union and played dead. The die-in serving as a symbolic protest over what they see as the latest case of police brutality.

Scott was told to drop the gun or some variation at least 12 times. His wife kept repeating “Keith don’t do it.”

Anyhow, the little Snowflakes had a real hard time putting their phones down. It’s similar to what Michelle Malkin noted of another die in

And there’s wonderful video from the NCSU die in at the WTVD link which shows them playing with their phones. You can even see some with wired earphones in their ears.

Meanwhile, an arrest has been made in the murder of an attendee of the Wednesday night Charlotte riots, which makes an interesting counterpoint to the talking points put out by Black Lives Matter

Charlotte Police Chief Kerr Putney said during a news conference that 21-year-old Rayquan Borum was arrested Friday morning. He provided few other details about the arrest or the suspect but said that video led investigators to the Borum.

The protester, 26-year-old Justin Carr, was shot Wednesday night during a violent night of protests in Charlotte. He died Thursday of his injuries.

Guess the race of the killer and killed. Yes.
