Suddenly, Democrats Are Very Worried About Ethical Conflicts

Does it even need bear repeating of Hillary Clinton’s massive amount of ethical conflicts in the way she merged the business of the Clinton foundation with her job as Secretary of State? She used her position for pay for play. Her subordinates were involved in helping, and at least one of them worked full time for both State and the Foundation. She, and her family, made vast amounts of money while doing the business of the Foundation when she was supposed to be doing the job of Secretary of State.

But, now, in the Age of Trump

Democrats plan assault on Trump’s ethical conflicts
They’re eager to make Republicans uncomfortable with oversight of a president who ran on a promise to ‘drain the swamp.’

Democrats are looking to create big headaches for Donald Trump over his unprecedented ethical conflicts.

In the 11 days since the Republican’s upset victory, the president-elect’s political opponents have hammered him for giving no sign that he will follow historic norms and really separate himself from his vast financial holdings. They’re baffled that Trump and his family are still promoting their businesses, especially on anofficial transition website, and they’re questioning how Trump’s son-in-law canlegally land a job in the White House.

Well, if it wasn’t this, it would be something else. They can’t complain about most of his (supposed) policies, because they know Trump won on those policies.

As the minority party, the Democrats can’t call official hearings or pump out subpoenas. Still, they are primed to birddog Trump’s administration if it’s caught doing government business that’s seen as lining the president’s own pockets. Even with their diminished numbers, they can run their own investigations, drown Trump’s agencies with requests for public records and inspector general reports, pepper his nominees with questions and just generally work to make Republicans uncomfortable with their oversight of a president who ran on a promise to “drain the swamp.”

Two points. First, they didn’t bother doing this to either Nancy Pelosi nor Barack Obama, when they promised the same. Nor to themselves, because it was a Democrat promise. Second, as far as lining their own pockets, most Democrats, like most Republicans, have voted against things like recusing themselves from votes on legislation that would put money in their own pockets. They’ve voted against banning what is essentially insider trading for Congress. So many of them have made oodles of cash being career politicians.

Anyhow, it’s a long, long, long Politico article about Democrats whining that businessman Trump could make money overtly, as opposed to the way career politicians rake in the cash.

Of course, The Washington Post opinion secition is Very Concerned

How President Trump could use the White House to enrich himself and his family

For the past 40 years, every president has placed his personal investments and assets in a blind trust while in the White House, or has sold everything and held cash equivalents. President-elect Donald Trump has made it clear that he does not plan to set up such a trust, which would require that his company be run by an outsider who has had no previous business relationship with Trump, and that there be virtually no communication between the outside trustee and Trump or his family during his administration.

Trump is not required by law to create a blind trust or otherwise divest himself of all business holdings, though many people who will work for him in the government will have to do so: The 1978 Ethics in Government Act exempts the president and vice president from its conflict of interest provisions, out of constitutional concerns about separation of powers.

So, he has no lawful requirement to do anything. The writer, Trevor Potter, is a Republican, who worked with multiple Republicans such as John McCain and the elder George Bush. He’s very much against Citizens United, and worked heavily with Stephen Colbert and his fake news show. He offers many ideas for Trump to avoid these conflicts of interest, and, let’s be honest, Trump should divorce himself from his businesses during his time in office in order to avoid those conflicts of interest. If he wants to drain the swamp, he has to start with his own administration.

But, while doing so, he should hit back at Democrats (and Republicans) for all their own conflicts, the ability to do insider trading, and essentially make lots of cash while doing the People’s Business.

Overall, though, the vast majority of elected Democrats should never speak of ethics, especially those who voted for Hillary Clinton.

Democrats Are Suddenly Realizing That This Whole Federalism Thing Might Be Good

Why? Obviously, because of Trump. Liberty Unyielding’s JE Dryer runs a story with the headline BloombergBusinessweek floats absurd fiscal threat against Trump from California. It’s base on California Democrats having a hissy fit and threatening political war against the Trump administration or something. It’s worth the full read, but, here’s a good part which caught my attention

But there is one more point to be made.  If it makes you thoughtful that there exists this robust fiscal, legal, and political relationship between a very powerful federal government and the individual citizen or company — a relationship the states can be effectively held hostage by — it should.  Maybe, if the states don’t like what’s being accomplished through federal-level politics, they should have more to say about it.

That’s exactly what our Founders envisioned, in fact.

But that’s not what the progressive Democrats have wanted for at least 100 years. Every policy they have pushed — right up to and including their push to get rid of the Electoral College in this presidential cycle — has been designed to strengthen the central government, undercut the states, and leave them exactly where California is today.  I.e., hoist on the Democrats’ petard.

Exactly. Now they seem to be interested in States Rights, especially that pesky 10th Amendment. Now that they are no longer in charge of either the Legislative or Executive branches, and are looking at one to three Supreme Court nominations for Trump. Perhaps I can interest California in repealing the 17th Amendment?

Good News: Warmists Are Very Upset Over Pick Of Sessions For AG

It’s a given that Democrats will complain about every pick that a Republican makes, turning anthills into Mt. Everest, freaking out about everything. It’s what they do. Liberals are already at Level 10 Apoplexy, and add more with this complaint

Why It Matters That Trump’s Attorney General Pick Is a Climate Change Skeptic

While his controversial past and hardline stance on immigration reform (he evenopposes some types of legal immigration), are enough to raise eyebrows over this appointment, his scientifically unsound denials of climate change have largely been glossed over, so far. The senator is a devoted climate change skeptic and has gone above and beyond to take down Obama’s Clean Power Plan and sow seeds of doubt about the existence of global warming.

As US attorney general, Sessions will be tasked with leading the Justice Department and representing the federal government in legal affairs…

But it would also be Sessions’ job to bring cases concerning environmental laws to federal courts if needed. The US Justice Department currently regularly prosecutes individuals and companies for environmental crimes (mainly through its Environment and Natural Resources Division), such as polluting or evading regulations. Given Sessions’ public stances against climate science and environmental legislation, there’s an additional concern that he might ignore certain environmental issues, allowing federal environmental protections to wither.

In other words, Sessions doesn’t buy what the Cult of Climastrology is selling, so, Warmists are very concerned that he will spike any suits and refuse to get involved in defending Hotcoldwetdry policies as passed by Obama. Let’s not forget that Obama’s DOJ refused to defend numerous laws as passed by the Legislative branch, such as the Defense Of Marriage Act.

But, Sessions is not against environmental laws and regulations. He supports them. What he, along with soon-to-be-inaugurated Mr. Trump, do not support are the laws and regs based on the junk science of ‘climate change.’ The Cult of Climastrology attempts to link every real environmental issue with their Warmist beliefs, but the two are not the same.

Here’s something Warmists should remember: they lost. Trump won. You told us something similar when Obama won. So, sit back and enjoy the ride.

Could Trump Be The Best Thing Ever For ‘Climate Change’?

This could be one of the best “bargaining” type posts from a Warmist upset that Trump was elected president

Trump: The best thing ever for climate change?

(lots of whining about Trump)

But there is another school of thought that says that a Trump presidency could actually aid the fight against climate change.

The Paris agreement became part of international law in super-quick time, mainly because countries were aware of Mr Trump’s threats to wreck the deal.

“His negative impact is as overblown as his haircut,” said Joe Ware from Christian Aid.

“He’s already generated the fastest coming into force of any treaty with the ratification of the Paris treaty in record time.”

Of course, it’s not a treaty. There is no force of actual law behind it, as Obama demanded that it be written so he could avoid the need to have it ratified by the duly elected Lawmakers as written in the US Constitution.

The spirit of unity is also likely to be felt in the US if the new president makes good on his promises to boost coal exports and allow the extraction of oil and gas on Federal lands.

Environmental movements are already reporting an increase in membership enquiries.

But, these wankers mostly do nothing in their own lives, they just demand Everyone Else/Other People be forced to comply with what the wankers want.

If President Trump revives the Keystone pipeline, he could galvanise a new generation of climate activists.

Again, what they mostly do is spread awareness, then jump in their fossil fueled vehicles to head for a latte’ while patting themselves on the back.

“Young people in the US know well that it is ridiculous to be denying climate,” said former Irish president and UN climate envoy Mary Robinson.

Perhaps, but they also let opinions and words drive them into safe spaces full of coloring books and play do. That’s not adult behavior, as if it needs to be said.

One of Mr Trump’s most prominent campaign promises has been on revitalising America’s infrastructure.

This is an issue on which he might garner much political support.

City mayors and other authorities are likely to want to see some of that cash spent on green measures like energy efficiency in offices, homes and buildings.

In other words, rather than fixing the roads and bridges like Liberals whine about, they’ll piss away the money on Stupid. There’s nothing wrong with energy efficiency (I bet conservatives are better at energy saving than liberals), but, let the private businesses spend their own money on it.

“Energy efficiency is the silver bullet for a lot of our problems with climate change and energy poverty,” said Joe Ware.

If that’s the case, then why the need to only spend taxpayer money on it? Pony up, Warmists. Spend you own money. Unless this isn’t really about the climate?

USA Today Allows Election 2016 Truthers To Demand An Election Audit

The outcome of the general election has brought all all the typical Liberal silliness. The immediate trending of @HesNotMyPresident even before most people were awake to know the results. Petitions to get the Electoral College to throw their votes to Hillary. Doxing members of the EC. Calls to abolish the EC. Demonstrations with typical liberal violence in the streets. And now this cute one by uber-leftists Ron Rivest and Philip Stark

Still time for an election audit: Column

A Washington Post–ABC News poll found that 18% of voters — 33% of Clinton supporters and 1% of Trump supporters — think Trump was not the legitimate winner of the election. Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., has called on Congress to investigate the Russian cyberattack on theDemocratic National Committee and the election.

There are reasons for concern. According to the director of national intelligence, the leaked emails from the DNC were “intended to interfere with the U.S. election process.” The director of national intelligence, theDepartment of Homeland Security, and the National Security Agency concluded that the Russian government is behind the DNC email hack and that Russian hackersattacked U.S. voter registration databases.

We know that the national results could be tipped by manipulating the vote count in arelatively small number of jurisdictions — a few dozen spread across a few key states. We know that the vast majority of local elections officials have limited resources to detect or defend against cyberattacks. And while pre-election polls have large uncertainties, they were consistently off. And various aspects of the preliminary results, such as a high rate of undervotes for president, have aroused suspicion.

So, what does this all mean? Well, obviously, in Liberal World, the election was wrong, so

Did human error, computer glitches, hacking, or other problems change the outcome? While there is, as yet, no compelling evidence, the news about hacking and deliberate interference makes it worth finding out.

About 25% of voters used machines that do not generate a paper trail. Any hacking, glitches or other errors that affected their votes could be undetectable. But the other 75% of the vote, including the key states of Michigan and Wisconsin, could be double-checked in various ways.

A full manual recount of the paper records would be definitive, but that’s unnecessarily difficult, expensive and time-consuming if the results are actually right.

Got that? There is zero evidence that anything hinky happened (actually, there’s lots of evidence that there was lots of fraud in favor of Hillary’s vote count), but, hey, those mean Russians! But, hey, we’re going to check all the ballots, right? Um, no

First it would check the results in the states Trump won. If auditing confirms those results, there’s no need to audit in the states Clinton carried: Trump really won.

Typical liberal insanity. Rivest doesn’t do much on Twitter, but Stark has been pimping the need for a recount and the petition for over a week. Just call them Election Truthers.

But, hey, you know what these supposed issues make me think? That it would be great if there was some sort of method to verify who the people casting votes are. If only there was some sort of card or something that people could show to poll workers that says “look, I’m me!”

And, I’m looking forward to years of this type of Barking Moonbat Syndrome.

How To Survive Thanksgiving With Your Climate Denier Grandpa

It’s never too early for liberals to be given guidance on how to have civil interactions with their relatives and friends on Thanksgiving, because, Lord knows, they need someone to teach them how to act like adults

A Guide to Surviving Thanksgiving after the Election

Thanksgiving is coming around the corner and for some this means acorn-adorned centerpieces, turkey, pumpkin pie and warm family memories.

For others it means screaming matches with out-of-touch grandpas who confidently exert that global warming is a hoax and mutter racist comments under their breath.

It’s easy for the holidays to lose their luster when you can’t even finish your sweet potato casserole without wanting to chuck your plate at your uncle. And regardless of your political beliefs, this year’s election could bring out the worst in anyone.

In order to avoid World War III from breaking out in your living room, here are some tips on how to stay sane and give your vocal chords a break during Thanksgiving with the family.

The lists are exactly what you expect. How to act civil. How to play a drinking game with yourself during the day if someone messes with your safe space. What topics to shift everyone too. And how to bring everyone into your little safe space world. Go read.

Most importantly, remember that a presidential term lasts four years, but family lasts forever. Try and look past the topics that divide you and remember what Thanksgiving is all about! (Minus the whole land-stealing, genocide thing).

Here Are 10 Steps To Limit Warming to 1.5C Or Something

I’m sure you’ll notice what is missing from this list

Climate Action Tracker Outlines 10 Most Important Short-Term Steps To Limit Warming To 1.5°C

Scientists with CAT also warned that if one sector was to do less than the others — particularly the energy, industry, and transport sectors — they would leave behind a high-emissions legacy for several decades. They also point out that lack of action could result in a failure to set in motion the wider-system changes necessary to achieve the required long-term transformation.

The ten steps are as follows:

  1. Electricity: sustain the growth rate of renewables and other zero and low carbon power until 2025 to reach 100% by 2050
  2. Coal: no new coal power plants, reduce emissions from coal by at least 30% by 2025
  3. Road transport: last fossil fuel car sold before 2035
  4. Aviation and shipping: develop and get agreement on a 1.5°C compatible vision
  5. New buildings: all new buildings fossil-free and near zero energy by 2020
  6. Building renovation: increase rates from <1% in 2015 to 5% by 2020
  7. Industry: all new installations in emissions-intensive sectors are low-carbon after 2020; maximize material efficiency
  8. Reduce emissions from forestry and other land use to 95% below 2010 levels by 2030, stop net deforestation by the 2020s
  9. Commercial agriculture: keep emissions at or below current levels, establish and disseminate regional best practice, ramp up research
  10. CO2 removal: begin research and planning for negative emissions

Did you catch it? That’s right, there is nothing about members of the Cult of Climastrology going out and living the carbon neutral life. It is all about, and I’ll know you’ll be utterly shocked by this, the use of Governmental power to force these 10 things, because that’s the only way they happen. Force of government. This is why so many Skeptics note that this whole thing is about politics, not science. Virtually every policy prescription revolves around increasing the size and power of government. Rarely anything about personal responsibility.

It Begins: House Democrats Want Obama To Pardon Illegal Aliens

Democrats keep proving why they have lost so many elected positions at the federal, state, county, and local levels

(The Hill) A group of House Democrats petitioned President Barack Obama Thursday to pardon undocumented immigrants brought to the U.S. as children for their immigration violations.

Democratic Reps. Zoe Lofgren and Lucille Roybal-Allard of California, and Luis Gutierrez of Illinois said it is Obama’s “responsibility” to protect participants in the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program from potential immigration enforcement measures taken by a Trump administration.

“We want the immigrant community to know that we are not giving up, we are going to fight for them, we are going to stand by them, we are on their side,” Lofgren said at the press conference.

In a letter to Obama, the proponents argued that the president’s power to grant pardons extends to civil immigration violations such as illegal entry, overstaying a visa and illegal presence.

Instead of worrying about the middle class, which, really, Democrats rarely do, they’re more concerned with people who came to the country illegally, whether they were young or not, over the needs of American citizens. Democrats do not care about the DREAMers per se, they just want their votes. Meanwhile, the rest of us are a wee bit upset about these illegal aliens demonstrating in the streets, demanding that they be legalized and given free things like a college education. They freak out about citizens flying the American flag, while they fly the Mexican flag and demand the American SW be returned to Mexico.

Anyhow, the White House has told these Congress Critters that they can’t, it wouldn’t give legal status, only Congress can do that.

In their letter, Lofgren, Gutierrez and Roybal-Allard warn that the Department of Homeland Security “now has fingerprints, home addresses, and other information to identify those DREAMers.”

“They are more at risk because they registered,” Gutierrez said.

Who did that? Perhaps if the DREAMers asked nicely, and showed that they love this country, things might go differently.
