Good News: ICE Discovers New Freedom To Deport

NY Times writers Ron Nixon, Nicholas Kulish, and Caitlin Dickerson probably thought they were writing a big slap in the face article against Donald Trump, but, this shows a federal government agency doing the job they exist as an agency to do

Immigration Agents Discover New Freedom to Deport Under Trump

I.C.E. has more than 20,000 employees, spread across 400 offices in the United States and 46 countries, and the Trump administration has called for the hiring of 10,000 more.

In Virginia, Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents waited outside a church shelter where undocumented immigrants had gone to stay warm. In Texas and in Colorado, agents went into courthouses, looking for foreigners who had arrived for hearings on other matters.

At Kennedy International Airport in New York, passengers arriving after a five-hour flight from San Francisco were asked to show their documents before they were allowed to get off the plane.

The Trump administration’s far-reaching plan to arrest and deport vast numbers of undocumented immigrants has been introduced in dramatic fashion over the past month. And much of that task has fallen to thousands of ICE officers who are newly emboldened, newly empowered and already getting to work.

Here’s the thing: that’s their job. As their webpage says, it’s “what we do.” It’s what they were created to do, replacing the old La Migra, Immigration and Naturalization Services, otherwise known as INS. This new “freedom to deport” is just ICE being allowed to do their job.

Gone are the Obama-era rules that required them to focus only on serious criminals. In Southern California, in one of the first major roundups during the Trump administration, officers detained 161 people with a wide range of felony and misdemeanor convictions, and 10 who had no criminal history at all.

No criminal history other than being unlawfully present in the United States.

“Morale amongst our agents and officers has increased exponentially since the signing of the orders,” the unions representing ICE and Border Patrol agents said in a joint statement after President Trump issued the executive orders on immigration late last month.

When one is free to do the job one was hired to do without the shackles of idiotic political squishiness, it certainly must make the workers happy. Of course, we have to have some negatives, because this is the NY Times

Two officials in Washington said that the shift — and the new enthusiasm that has come with it — seems to have encouraged pro-Trump political comments and banter that struck the officials as brazen or gung-ho, like remarks about their jobs becoming “fun.” Those who take less of a hard line on unauthorized immigrants feel silenced, the officials said.

Hey, when your job stops being fun, it’s time to leave, as the old saying goes. It appears to be fun again, without that guy who coddled illegal aliens in charge.

Agents are, in fact, predominantly male and have often served in the military, with a police department or both.

Three things liberals despise.

But arrests can appear dramatic, as agents arrive in large numbers, armed with semiautomatic handguns and wearing dark bulletproof vests with ICE in bright white letters on them. When they do have to enter a home, officers knock loudly and announce themselves as the police, a term they can legally use. Many times, children are awakened in the process, and watch as a parent is taken away.

The horror! Many times, children watch their legal citizen parent or parents be taken away for committing a crime by law enforcement. The only people at fault are the ones who broke the law.

After the arrests outside the church in Alexandria, Va., Gov. Terry McAuliffe, a Democrat, wrote a letter to Mr. Kelly, saying the action “raises a concern that, unlike previous actions, ICE agents are detaining Virginia residents without cause or specific allegations of criminal activity.”

Were they in the country illegally? Then there was cause. It really is that simple.

There’s a bit more whining for a few more paragraphs, before ending with

Agents said that even with the added freedom, they would still go after the people who presented the greatest danger to the public. And what Mr. Sandweg called unfettered discretion, they called enforcing the law.

“The discretion has come back to us; it’s up to us to make decisions in the field,” a 15-year veteran in California said. “We’re trusted again.”

It’s a shocking proposition: enforcing the law. Especially in Democratic Party run cities, which have the majority of illegal aliens.

Starbucks Finds Out What Happens When They Go SJW

Remember a few weeks ago when Starbucks promised to hire 10,000 refugees over the next 5 years (I wonder how many they’ve hire at this point)? How’s that working out? (Via Zerohedge)

(Yahoo Finance) The coffee giant’s consumer perception levels have fallen by two-thirds since late January, according to YouGov BrandIndex.

The perception tracker measures if respondents have “heard anything about the brand in the last two weeks, through advertising, news or word of mouth, was it positive or negative.” In Starbucks’ case, perception is still overall positive, but significantly lower than it was prior to CEO Howard Schultz published a public letter outlining the company’s plans to give refugees jobs.

YouGov says that there’s reason to believe backlash will impact the chain’s bottom line. Two days before Starbucks’ announcement, 30% of consumers said they’d consider buying from Starbucks the next time they were craving coffee, the highest proportion in nearly a year. Now, the percentage is down to 24%, according to YouGov.

Here’s what that looks like

Play by the SJW, die by the SJW.

Gordon Ramsey always says that customers don’t bother complaining that much, they just don’t come back. And when Starbucks annoys people who might purchase their product, they just go elsewhere. Or make it at home.

And, just for an added stupid alert from the World Of Progressivism

Say, How Will We Know When Democracy In The U.S. Is Dying?

Remember how the media ran all these types of articles during the Era Of Obama? Me neither

How you’ll know when the U.S. isn’t a democracy anymore

Here’s the funny thing about democracy: Sometimes, you don’t know what you’ve got til it’s gone.

John Carey, a Dartmouth professor of government, would know. He has spent his career studying the erosion of democracy in Latin American countries such as Venezuela and Argentina. And time and again, he has seen the same thing. “It’s only in retrospect that you can point to the bright line,” a moment when a country’s democratic institutions stopped working, he told me. At the time, he said, there’s rarely consensus. Instead, Carey said, “there’s usually a debate about whether this is an advance or a setback.”

The obvious inference here is that we are Dooooooomed under Trump.

Bright Lines Watch is here to help. The website, set up by a small group of political scientists, was born out of the idea that, in their words, “One of the greatest threats to democracy is the idea that it is unassailable.” Their goal is to carefully monitor the state of democracy in the United States so that they can identify threats to the system.

To start, the creators identified the essential qualities of democracy. They chose 19, including fair, free elections; judicial and legislative independence; government protection of individuals’ right to engage in unpopular speech; a robust free press; and an executive authority that won’t push its power beyond constitutional limits. There are others, too: “Government leaders recognize the validity of bureaucratic or scientific consensus about matters of public policy.” “Government agencies are not used to monitor, attack, or punish political opponents.” “Government officials do not use public office for private gain.” “Political competition occurs without criticism of opponents’ loyalty or patriotism.”

Interesting. This just created organization would have had a field day with Obama, who attempted to shut down press he couldn’t control, and was constantly pushing executive authority beyond constitutional limits. Using government agencies to attack. And then there was Hillary, who used her office for private gain.

“The 2016 U.S. presidential campaign taught us not to assume that the country’s political leadership will follow the practices and norms that help guarantee American democracy,” the founders wrote on the site. “Our overarching goal is to use our scholarly expertise to monitor democratic practices and call attention to threats to American democracy.”

So, this supposedly non-partisan group, which is being cited all over the place, are Election 2016 Truthers, and highly partisan.

The idea is to create a benchmark so that experts can assess change over time. The point is to look out for trends. It’s a way to tell whether our institutions are becoming less free, whether our voting system is still fraud-free, whether journalists and judges still have as much autonomy in a year as they do right now.

And you know what they will find. In this case, they claim that America gets a “C” for democracy. Even though we’re a federal republic. But, the idea here is to paint a picture of a doomed America.

Early Spring Is Totally A Sign Of ‘Climate Change’ And Future Doom Or Something

Remember when so many places around the world in recent years were having long winters and barely any springs? The Credentialed Media who were members of the Cult of Climastrology said “no big deal.” That’s when they weren’t attempting to blame nature for masking the signs of anthropogenic climate change. Now, though

The U.S. Geological Survey hails an early spring — and ties it to climate change

As the nation basks in some of the warmest February weather it has seen in decades, the U.S. Geological Survey has been quick to point out that the early spring conditions are another symptom of climate change.

On Thursday, the USGS shared a new analysis just released by the USA-National Phenology Network, which the agency helps to fund, showing that an early spring has already swept through the Southeast and is continuing to work its way across the country. As the agency points out, the new analysis reaffirms a fact scientists have known for at least a decade now — that “climate change is variably advancing the onset of spring across the United States.”

And this means doooooom!

These findings, along with the newly released maps of this year’s springs, are just another way of pointing to the progression of climate change, Weltzin noted. He also noted that, although the balmy conditions this February may seem nice on the surface, an early spring can come with all kinds of downsides. For one thing, the onset of warm weather is also associated with the reemergence of disease-carrying parasites and insects, such as ticks and mosquitoes.

It can also carry serious agricultural risks. Early springs are sometimes followed by sudden frosts or droughts later in the summer, which can be devastating for crops that have already begun to grow. It has happened several times in the recent past, Weltzin pointed out — in 2012, the grape harvest in Southwestern Michigan was ravaged by a sudden cold snap following an early spring, and a similar incident hammered the tree nut harvest in the Southeast in 2007, he said.

Everybody panic!

As far as the latest climate news goes, there are other indicators of the long-term climatic changes that are happening in the United States, Weltzin noted. But the onset of spring remains one of the more dramatic red flags.

Red flags!!!!!

Do you know what the USGS doesn’t say? Whether the warming is mostly/solely caused by Mankind, or mostly/solely caused by nature. Or even somewhere around 50/50. And that’s what the debate is about: causation. More and more papers are showing that it is primarily natural. Even small variations in the solar system can cause “chaos” with the climate of not just Earth, but other planets. Warmists are fond of blaming nature for “masking” warming during the years of the Great Pause. Why can nature not be mostly responsible for the warming itself?

Oh Good: NY Times Publishes Screed By Illegal Alien Who Vows To Not Leave

Have you heard the case of Jeanette Vizguerra, a person who is unlawfully present in the United States and has taken refuge in a church, which puts the church in violation of 8 US Code 1324? She stretches the truth…ok, breaks it…in this opinion piece

Why I Will Not Leave

Honey? The choice is not yours to make.

This year is my 20th in Denver, but I may have to spend it in the basement of the First Unitarian Church instead of my own home. When I wake up in the room set up for me here, my first thought every day is who will pick up my children from school.

Last week, Immigration and Customs Enforcement refused to extend my stay of deportation. I sought sanctuary in the church because, like that of millions of other immigrants, my future in this country was thrown into doubt. Thanks to President Trump’s new policy, every undocumented person is a priority for eviction from this country.

In my years here, I have witnessed many injustices and have been involved in community organizing against them, including as a co-host of a radio show here. After paying taxes for two decades, spending thousands of dollars on my immigration case and fighting my deportation for eight years, I am not giving up now.

The horror, ICE refused to extend her stay of deportation. Obviously, this means Americans are super big meanings. Or not

(KDVR) Jeanette Vizguerra, a mother of four, was scheduled to check in with Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents Wednesday morning.

She wanted to extend the stay on her deportation order, which expired last week, while she continues the application process for a special visa. The extension was denied when she failed to show up for the meeting.

So, the person who caused the refusal was ….. herself, for blowing off the check in. She has no one to blame but herself. She doesn’t tell you this in the beginning of the article, only explaining it way down near the end, a point which most people have already tuned out and moved on when it comes to reading web articles.

We see from the KDVR article that she arrived illegally in 1997 with her husband and a 6 year old. Since she is 45 now, that means she was not a child at the time she intentionally broke our immigration law. At one point she was charged with not having a license or insurance and for having an expired license plate. Those charges were dropped. She put a made up Social Security number on a document she was planning to use for a job application. She pled guilty to attempted possession of a forged instrument. La Immigra became involved at that point.

She was given the opportunity to voluntarily self-deport. She finally did leave, then came back, paying someone to smuggle her across the border, for which she was almost immediately caught be the Border Patrol, making her an alien absconder.

Back to the Times screed, and her ending

Their example inspires me to continue the fight until we are all able to walk the street freely. But it is not easy to be so public, and — grateful as I am for the support of the Sanctuary Coalition — it is hard to live in a church instead of my home. Perhaps you’ve seen the hashtag #JeanetteBelongsHere. The United States is the country of my children. I will stay here because it is my home. I will not leave.

And this is exactly one of the reasons why so many have so little care for illegal aliens: there is little in the way of humbleness, or being contrite. We see them demanding the U.S. give them stuff. Food, shelter, education, welfare, money, healthcare, and, of course, citizenship. There is defiance, even though they are the ones who’ve broken our laws and taken advantage of American generosity. Anytime in the past 20 years she could have left and applied for lawful status. She did not do that.

And her choice to stay, like that of many illegals, is not hers to make.

Witches Plan Ceremony To Put The Whammy On Trump

On the bright side, it will probably be more peaceful than the usual leftist protest

(AOL) Get your covens ready.

Protest may be the new brunch, but witches are joining together worldwide in a more magical form of resistance to cast a spell on President Donald Trump, reports say.

A document circling the internet in both private and public witchcraft groups contains a spell to bind Trump to all who abet him, and even muggles (non-magic folks for those unfamiliar with Harry Potter) are encouraged to participate.

The binding ritual is to be performed monthly by those who practice the craft until Trump is removed from office.

So, basically everyone, because magic isn’t real. Unless one takes lots of drugs. They plan on doing this Friday night, and every night there is a crescent moon. Until Trump is out of office.

They need candles, and Tarot cards, and all sorts of things, in order to chant this

“Hear me, oh spirits
Of Water, Earth, Fire, and Air
Heavenly hosts
Demons of the infernal realms
And spirits of the ancestors
(Light inscribed orange candle stub)
I call upon you
To bind
Donald J. Trump
So that he may fail utterly
That he may do no harm
To any human soul
Nor any tree
Animal
Rock
Stream

Bind him so that he shall not break our polity
Usurp our liberty
Or fill our minds with hate, confusion, fear, or despair
And bind, too,
All those who enable his wickedness
And those whose mouths speak his poisonous lies

I beseech thee, spirits, bind all of them
As with chains of iron
Bind their malicious tongues
Strike down their towers of vanity

It gets even wackier after that, as you can read at the HuffPost.

Climate Models Predict Crossing Doomy Thresholds Or Something

Again and again and again, the models that the Cult of Climastrology uses have been shown to, at a minimum, perform poorly. Yet, they still trot them out as proof of future doom. Why? Because the friendly media is willing to publish these prognostications of doom without any hint of question

Computer model predicts the likelihood of crossing several dangerous climate change thresholds

A new computer model of accumulated carbon emissions predicts the likelihood of crossing several dangerous climate change thresholds. These include global temperature rise sufficient to lose the Greenland Ice Sheet and generate seven meters of long-term sea level rise, or tropical region warming to a level that is deadly to humans and other mammals.

“The model is based on idealized representations of societal, technological and policy factors,” said lead researcher Jeremy Fyke, of the Los Alamos National Laboratory Theoretical Division, Fluid Dynamics and Solid Mechanics group. “It’s focused on climate-carbon sensitivities and is designed to reproduce both recent carbon emission trends and long-term future carbon emission projections.”

The research was published today in the Institute of Physics’ Environmental Research Letters.

Seven meters is a shade over 22 feet. When will this happen?

A unique part of the study is that it’s timing-agnostic. “Basically, think of the climate system as a ‘carbon bathtub,'” said Fyke. “What this study mainly does is assess how full the bathtub might get. It could get to the same level at different times. For example, the tap could go full-out for 20 years, or a drip for 100 years, but the end result—net warming—is essentially the same, and only depends on the level the ‘carbon bathtub’ gets to, before we turn off the tap completely.”

This is just fear mongering for the sake of fear mongering. And more government funding. Think I’m wrong? Notice that I put “published today” in bold above. Compare the article cited, with a date of February 22, 2017, with another one, published November 17, 2015

That’s right, they completely recycled the same article over two years later, which is on their front page (at this time). But, hey, this is science, not scaremongering, and there’s no agenda, right? Right?

California Companies Are Fearful Of Trump Deportation Orders Or Something

The media is slowly turning from Outrage over Trump’s illegal aliens plans to Outrage over the federal government not forcing little girls to accept penis in their bathrooms, locker rooms, and showers in schools of all levels, but, there are still a few holdouts, such as the LA Times

Trump’s promise to ramp up deportations spreads fear — among California businesses

The news that President Trump ordered an aggressive crackdown on 11 million undocumented people sent a chill through immigrant communities. California businesses that employ lots of immigrants are shivering too.

If they employ lawfully present workers, what’s the problem? If they’re employing illegal aliens, then they are in violation of criminal code.

Two memos released by Homeland Security Secretary John F. Kelly on Tuesday directed immigration officers to broaden the scope of their enforcement, conduct more raids of immigrant communities, and detain people living here illegally regardless of whether they had a criminal record.

Those marching orders could hit the California economy particularly hard. Many of the industries that depend heavily on immigrants already were experiencing a labor shortage.

Undocumented workers make up 10% of the labor force in California, USC researchers have estimated, and form a large chunk of the employment that drives massive industries such as agriculture and construction.

So, we’re worried about some California companies who are in violation of 8 US Code 1324a, especially if they are not doing due diligence to make sure the person is lawfully present? Let them face the fines and potential jail time for blowing off the law.

“In the urban, rich economies of California, the high-end jobs are for U.S. born [workers] and the service, low-end jobs are for immigrants. Immigrants have adjusted to the high-cost environment, and that’s a way for them to absorb this cost,” said Giovanni Peri, an economist at UC Irvine.

Immigrants tend to live in tight quarters and move around a lot in order to cushion the blow of expensive real estate in California’s biggest cities, something that native-born Americans may be less willing to do, Peri said.

Now, that’s an interesting notion: California has made things so expensive that only legal migrant workers and illegal aliens will do certain jobs. This is how Progressivism works in reality. What happens when they raise the minimum wage to $15, and things implode further? Anyhow, super lower class loving Progressive Californian’s apparently like the idea of a permanent underclass to serve them in the fields and places like supermarkets and restaurants.

Madelyn Alfano, president of Maria’s Italian Kitchen, which operates nine restaurants and employs 400 workers, said anxiety about deportation had spread throughout her workforce.

Alfano, who emphasized that she hired documented workers, said her employees still worry about family members who are in the country illegally.

People wonder “‘what’s going to happen if my wife or my child or someone else in my family is taken away?’” Alfano said.

There several sob stories like this in the article, where they all stress they only hire legals. If they’re legal, why the concern? Might be a case of protesting too much.
