Boston Globe Is Super Excited For You To Give Up Your Air Conditioning

Nowhere within this long article does Leon Neyfakh express that he’s given up his own use, nor that the Boston Globe has turned off their AC units at the corporate building and in the fossil fueled vehicles they use to deliver newspapers

How to live without air conditioning
Could Americans kick our addiction to cool? Maybe more happily than we think.

….

Since the technology was invented in 1902, and the first window unit was brought to market in 1939, air conditioners have become ubiquitous in the United States. Today, almost 90 percent of American households have one—as do the vast majority of restaurants, stores, museums, and office buildings. During weeks like the one we’ve just had, these places are sanctuaries: To walk into one after being outside is to be reminded how sweet life can be.

But all that magic chilling comes at a cost—something most people are aware of on a personal level, because their electricity bills are so high during the summer, but not so much on a global scale, which is really where the problem lies. In China and India, air conditioning sales have reportedly been growing by 20 percent per year; around the world, air conditioning energy demand is projected to increase vastly over the next decades. According to Stan Cox, author of the 2010 book “Losing Our Cool,” air conditioning in the United States already has a global-warming impact equivalent to every US household driving an extra 10,000 miles per year.

So, of course, this is all about ‘climate change.’ Surprise!

Until recently, however, civilization was humming along just fine without this costly convenience—and going back might not be as impossible as we think. The human body is quite well suited to deal with heat if we let it, and if we back away just a little bit from our assumptions about what it means to be comfortable, it’s easy to picture an alternate reality in which, instead of flipping on the freon at the slightest provocation, we learn to cope with the air we have. The human body is surprisingly adaptable, and by weaving together techniques from the past, ideas from hot-weather countries, and new findings from building design experts about what people actually find comfortable, we can see a surprising portrait emerge of what life might look like if we, as a society, decided we could no longer afford our addiction.

Wait, wait, we’re adaptable? We can deal with climate changes? So, there’s no need for massive taxation and fees schemes nor government restrictions on our lives? Huh.

Typical. Warmists always want Other People to do make changes, usually by government force, in their lives, changes they refuse to make in their own.

Silly Democrat Introduces COVFEFE Act, Because Why Not

Suddenly, Democrats are Very Concerned with the retention of government communications (someone should ask Hillary about her 30,000 deleted emails)

(Mediaite) It seems like every single day there is at least one Democratic legislator looking to troll President Trump. Today, Illinois Congressman Mike Quigley joined the fray by introducing the COVFEFE Act.

Yes, just when you thought we were finally done with this meme, it’s baaaaaaack.

Quigley today announced legislation that is actually called The Communications Over Various Feeds Electronically for Engagement Act (or the COVFEFE Act).

Trolling would be a good word, because, apparently, Quigley has nothing better to do, like a finding a way to reduce the violence plaguing Chicago. But, then, maybe he really doesn’t care that Black people are shooting, stabbing, and killing each other.

The purpose of the silly act

In order to maintain public trust in government, elected officials must answer for what they do and say; this includes 140-character tweets. President Trump’s frequent, unfiltered use of his personal Twitter account as a means of official communication is unprecedented. If the President is going to take to social media to make sudden public policy proclamations, we must ensure that these statements are documented and preserved for future reference. Tweets are powerful, and the President must be held accountable for every post.

On Twitter, Quigley stated that it would make “deleting tweets a violation of the Presidential Records Act, subject to disciplinary action.”

Certainly, the tweets should be retained already. This, though, is just typical Democrat moonbat silliness. From the getgo, Democrats didn’t even bother trying to work with Mr. Trump. Republicans, who were in the minority at the beginning of Obama’s presidency, at least attempted to work with O on certain things. Sure, they opposed many things, but, even when they regained the majority, they still attempted to work with O to get things done. Democrats are so unhinged by Trump, triggered like the 5 year olds at colleges, that they cannot even consider working with him, and do silly things like the above. Oh, and this, previously

Quigley is one of the Democrats who introduced the Making Access Records Available to Lead American Government Openness Act (or MAR-A-LAGO Act) back in March.

Which is interesting, considering how much Democrats worked to help Hillary Clinton obstruct the investigations into her server, and didn’t have a problem with all the non-compliance by the Obama admin over Freedom Of Information Act requests.

Texas Businesses Are Totally Not Waiting On Trump To Fight Hotcoldwetdry

Companies that use vast amounts of fossil fuels and energy for their products are resisting or something

Texas businesses aren’t waiting on President Trump to fight climate change

The White House is dropping out of the international effort to limit global warming. But in Texas, candy and pet food giant Mars isn’t slowing its climate change plans designed to protect Waco-made Snickers from West African drought and shield pet food production in Temple from failed wheat harvests.

Mars is not alone. For years, companies say, they have been reducing their carbon footprints and embracing renewable energy to cut costs and appeal to a younger workforce and customers. And that will continue with or without government leadership, they say. (snip)

Other corporate giants operating in Texas, including newly-arrived Toyota, are pushing forward aggressively on climate-change mitigation. The Japanese company’s new U.S. headquarters in Plano has a 7.75 megawatt solar array, enough to supply a fourth of the building’s electricity. And the automaker is committed to eliminating all greenhouse gas emissions from its cars, operations and supply chain by 2050.

Will Toyota stop selling fossil fueled vehicles by 2050, eliminating the majority of its sales? Even the Prius uses gasoline. There is exactly one vehicle in their US portfolio that uses no gas, the Mirai, which starts at a middle class friendly $57500, and, get this, it puts out water vapor, which is the #1 greenhouse gas. And said solar array will, in practice, provide a hell of a lot less than 7.75 megawatts.

Regardless, these companies, along with AT&T and Apple, mentioned in the article, along with certainly other companies, are entitled to do these kinds of things if they choose to. It might cause costs to rise, and a lot is certain patronizing feel good stuff, but, it’s a choice. It is not Government forcing compliance. And that’s the way it should be. Let’s not forget that on every survey, ‘climate change’ comes in last or next to last regarding Issues That People Care About.

Now if only Warmists would choose to make their own lives carbon neutral.

Liberals Worry About ‘Climate Change’ In Face Of Real Threats

I generally avoid reproducing entire articles as a matter of good blogging form. It was established early on that, unless you’re talking about a short article, you should avoid full copy and paste, simply take excerpts, and always link. Some ignored this, and shame on them. People work hard on their content, and that’s not what blogging is about. That said, there are times when it’s necessary for full context. Here’s one, a letter by David Kraner to the Bradenton Herald, which is shocking in that it was published

Really? Climate change? Here are some real threats

When a sharp knife slices across your throat or is plunged into your heart or that of a loved one… is climate change danger what comes to your mind as an existential threat?

When the airplane you and your loved ones are on disintegrates into fragments and plunges all of you to a horrible death after a terrorist bomb explodes… is welcoming all refugees, immigrants, legal and illegal, what comes to mind?

When a bright flash and a mushroom cloud from a North Korean or Iranian nuclear bomb vaporizes your city and you and your loved ones… will Russian election influence be what comes to your mind?

When your Internet crashes, your cell phones and landlines go dead and your electricity goes out in an EMP event, all in the dead of a freezing winter and the temperatures in your home plummets while you freeze to death… will CO2 and the Paris Climate Accord be on your mind?

When terrorists enter your children’s school and begin to execute them… will the gun ban (you favored) in school that prevented abiding staff and teachers from saving your child, come to mind as a good idea?

If the answer to any or all of these and many more reasonable questions, is “yes,” then you may be a delusional liberal, and likely a coward, and almost as big a threat to our nation as the terrorists who are at war with us.

Gay Rights Folks Take To Streets To #Resist Or Something

But they looked fabulous doing it!

(LA Times) This year, LA Pride went from party to protest. Gone were the colorful floats and boozy crowds watching from the sidewalks of Santa Monica Boulevard. Instead, marchers flooded the streets of Hollywood and West Hollywood, the crowd stretching for several blocks for what can best be described as a symbol of the Trump era — a protest march with a hashtag in its name: the #ResistMarch.

“This year, the LGBTQ community is lending our iconic rainbow flag to anyone who feels like their rights are under threat and to anyone who feels like America’s strength is its diversity,” said Brian Pendleton, who organized the march, which he said was inspired by the massive women’s marches that took place the day after Trump’s inauguration.

Indeed, #ResistMarch participants held up handmade signs that spoke of many issues in addition to LGBTQ rights: healthcare, climate change, immigration. Many wore the pink knit “pussyhats” that became symbolic of the women’s march, and the crowd chanted, “black lives matter!” as they walked.

Can anyone explain exactly what Rights have been taken away? Any? This is all about people having a snit fit over something that hasn’t happened, and won’t happen.

Firooz was attending the march with members of her North Hollywood church and wore a T-shirt with the words “Jesus Resisted.” She’s been frustrated by the rhetoric of the Trump administration and worries about the rights of LGBTQ people and others being scaled back. It’s been an emotional six months for her. Her parents are originally from Iran, and she has worried about them, too, as Trump pushed for a travel ban that included their home country.

“I am a queer Iranian woman in the Trump era,” Firooz said. “He really doesn’t like me. It’s not a partisan issue for me. It’s how Trump treats people.”

She should attempt to travel to Iran and protest there and see what happens. Well, in theory only, because bad things would happen to her, we know they would happen to her, she’d be lucky of it was only being thrown in jail for life, so, it would be best for her safety if she didn’t. In fact, Trump has always supported gay people.

Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Los Angeles), known for her acerbic comments about Trump, said of him: “He’s not my president. He’s not your president. He lies. He cheats. He’s a bully. He disrespects us all. And if he thinks he can mess with the LGBT community, he’d better look at what happened right here in West Hollywood.”

The crowd, many still clutching rainbow flags, joined her in a chant of “Impeach 45!” before she told them to “Stay woke.”

How is Trump messing with the gay community? Crazy Aunty Maxine is rather short on details. And, it’s rather sad that someone of her advanced age is yammering on about being “woke.”

Regardless, what rights has Trump taken away? What rights is he trying to take away? There’s no right for non-citizens to come to America. And, if he was really trying to take rights away, would he allow this march?

Former NYPD Commissioner: Terrorist Attacks Like London Are The New Normal

Only if you let them be

(NY Daily News) Terrorist attacks like the ones in London and Manchester are the “new normal,” and the U.S. should brace itself for similar attacks, former NYPD Commissioner Bill Bratton said Sunday.

“We are clearly seeing that the pace of terrorist attacks, certainly in Europe has been increasing, said Bratton, speaking to John Catsimatidis on his “Cats Roundtable” radio show. “We are very mindful that that type of attack is quite likely to occur in the United States at some point and time, despite our best efforts to prevent it.”

Bratton, who retired from the NYPD in 2016, said he expects more terrorist attacks worldwide in coming months as ISIS loses ground in Syria and Iraq.

“I think as the issue in Syria comes to some closure, as ISIS loses its last city and its caliphate, unfortunately it’s like lancing a boil,“ he said. “What’s inside is going to spread around the world even more so.”

On one hand, Mr. Bratton has a good point: the Islamists, those who practice extremist Islam (the word is never mentioned in the brief article), will spread out around the world and attempt to create more attacks, while at the same time spreading the word and attempting to convert people to extremist Islam, enticing them to kill in the name of Allah and Muhammad.

On the other hand, why do we have to tolerate this as the new normal? Why do we have to tolerate this at all? Yes, it will happen, but, we are we not doing what we can to stop this as much as possible? For starters, why are we allowing people from these war torn areas, areas which are ripe with extremist Muslim, into our nations? We can’t vet them properly. Many that are already here travel to those Islamist dominated areas and become more extremist.

We know why they commit terrorist attacks. Why must we tolerate this?

New Leftist Fantasy: Decision On Paris Climate Agreement Is Impeachable Offense

Do Leftists ever get tired of unhinged moonbattery from their comrades?  Do they ever shake their heads, do a facepalm, and say “stop, please, this is as embarrassing as a drunk friend sharting themselves at a fancy swimsuit party with super-models”? Probably not

(Daily Caller) A liberal law professor wrote a lengthy op-ed claiming President Donald Trump’s withdrawal from the Paris climate accord is a “crime against humanity” that is an “impeachable offense.”

“Trump’s withdrawal from the climate agreement constitutes an impeachable offense,” Marjorie Cohn, a professor emerita at Thomas Jefferson School of Law, wrote in an oped for Truthout published Thursday.

This violates the public trust and constitutes a high crime or something, according to Ms. Cohn.

Democrats and environmentalists argued Trump’s decision to withdraw from Paris ceded U.S. leadership on global warming to China and other countries. Cohn went further, saying Trump violated the public trust by condemning them to apocalyptic warming. (snip)

“Mosquitos will increasingly carry diseases. The Earth will be hit with massive floods, devastating heat waves and drought. Polar bears will become extinct. People will lose their lands, their homes and their lives. Indeed, life as we know it will come to an end,” Cohn wrote.

It gets better, if you can believe it

That’s not all, Cohn also argues Trump’s Paris decision constituted a “high crime,” which the U.S. constitution lays out as a standard for impeachment. Cohn also says the 22 Republican Senators who signed a letter to Trump urging a Paris withdrawal had “aided and abetted” his “crime against humanity.”

See Captain Janeway above. Fortunately, the Crazy doesn’t end

Cohn said Trump’s Paris agreement withdrawal could be tried before the International Criminal Court for “destruction of the environment.” She cites a report from the non-profit group Center for Climate Crime Analysis that “[c]limate crimes are often intertwined with other serious international crimes.”

“As a result of this link, as well through their impact on climate change, climate crimes may represent a threat to international peace and security and potentially affect all of humankind and the very foundations of civilization,” Cohn quoted from the group’s report.

Obviously, there was never any war prior to ‘climate change’, and it’s only gotten worse since Trump. Can we blame WWI and WWII on him?

Excitable Marjorie is calling this a crime against the public trust, and a crime against humanity, as stated in international law, and we get, from the opinion piece by Ms. Cohn

By pulling out of the climate accord, Trump “makes himself guilty of what looks like a grave crime against humanity, the planet Earth, and future generations,” Uffe Elbæk, former Danish minister of culture and leader of Denmark’s Green Party, said.

Uh huh. And she believes that “imperiling the planet” is a non-partisan issue, hence

It is incumbent upon the House of Representatives to vote for the impeachment of Trump.

Good luck with that Professor Special Snowflake, good luck with that. There was a time when crazy kept it’s opinions to itself, especially at someplace like an influential school of law. Now, it seems, as if everyone must let out their crazy inner monologue.
