Your Dog Should Go Vegetarian To Stop ‘Climate Change’ Or Something

No, your dog will not thank you for putting your insane Hotcoldwetdry beliefs on them

Your dog should go vegetarian

Every year in the U.S., our 180 million dogs and cats eat about 25% of all animal-derived calories consumed. Since the livestock industry is a top contributor to climate warming gas and water waste, the environmental toll from pet food is enormous.

It’s also largely unnecessary, as some in Los Angeles are beginning to realize.

The Los Angeles Animal Services Board heard a proposal last month to switch dogs at city shelters to plant-based food, and has since voted unanimously to study the feasibility of the idea. Commenters on social media immediately proclaimed, often in all caps, that “dogs need meat,” but science is not on their side. Dr. George Fahey, head of the animal and nutritional sciences laboratories at the University of Illinois, has stated that a daily ration of corn and soybeans provides all the vitamins, minerals, protein, fat and carbohydrates a dog needs.

Of course, the same, let’s call them …..assholes….. who will do this to dogs will mostly refuse to give up their own meat consumption. Instead of forcing beloved pets on a veggie diet, Warmists should just give up their own use of fossil fuels. Better, yet, don’t get a dog which is going to be mistreated.

MFGA: France Is Cracking Down On Illegal Aliens

Make France Great Again doesn’t have quite the same ring for the acronym as MAGA, but, it’s the thought that really counts, right?

(Daily Republic) It’s getting colder, the clock is ticking and regional authorities are scrambling to meet President Emmanuel Macron’s deadline: get migrants off France’s streets and out of forest hideouts by year’s end.

That won’t likely happen, and Macron’s government is now tightening the screws: ramping up expulsions, raising pressure on economic migrants and allowing divisive ID checks in emergency shelters.

Critics contend that Macron’s increasingly tough policy on migrants — though wrapped in a cloak of goodwill — contradicts his image as a humanist who defeated an anti-immigrant populist for the presidency, and has crossed a line passed by no other president in the land that prides itself as the cradle of human rights. (snip)

Macron has made clear he wouldn’t accept economic migrants in France, wants those who don’t qualify for asylum expelled and doesn’t want them even trying to come to France.

Well, sure. He’s finally getting it, long after the citizens go it. Un-educated illegals and people who just showed up at their border who don’t speak the language, bring little work experience, do not seem to want to assimilate, and bring their repressive, 14th century cultures with them, increasing crime, rape, sexual harassment, and a general denigration of women. France has long had a problem with illegals rioting and burning cars. And the government is having to spend lots of taxpayer money to feed, house, and clothe these people, to the detriment of the French citizens. Most are coming from the Middle East, western Asia, and North Africa. And most are Muslim.

Oh, and then there have been all the terrorist attacks by members of the Religion of Peace in the name of Allah and Mohammad.

Far-right leader Marine Le Pen, defeated by Macron in the May presidential race, sees the direction the government is taking as a “political victory” for her anti-immigration National Front party.

It is. Whether they will continue following through is the question. Le Pen wouldn’t have gotten so far if the citizens of France weren’t tired of what’s going on with all these illegals and “asylum” seekers.

Obama Legacy: Massive Sexual Harassment At The Department Of Justice

Remember the good old days when this type of thing was considered an “inherited problem” by a certain chief executive and his compliant media?

Justice Department faulted for ‘systemic’ mishandling of sex harassment complaints

The Justice Department has “systemic” problems in how it handles sexual harassment complaints, with those found to have acted improperly often not receiving appropriate punishment, and the issue requires “high level action,” according to the department’s inspector general.

Justice supervisors have mishandled complaints, the IG said, and some perpetrators were given little discipline or even later rewarded with bonuses or performance awards. At the same time, the number of allegations of sexual misconduct has been increasing over the past five years and the complaints have involved senior Justice Department officials across the country.

The cases examined by the IG’s office include a U.S. attorney who had a sexual relationship with a subordinate and sent harassing texts and emails when it ended; a Civil Division lawyer who groped the breasts and buttocks of two female trial attorneys; and a chief deputy U.S. marshal who had sex with “approximately” nine women on multiple occasions in his U.S. Marshals Service office, according to investigative reports obtained by The Washington Post under a Freedom of Information Act request.

“We’re talking about presidential appointees, political appointees, FBI special agents in charge, U.S. attorneys, wardens, a chief deputy U.S. marshal, a U.S. marshal assistant director, a deputy assistant attorney general,” Justice Department Inspector General Michael E. Horowitz said in an interview.

What’s missing here are actual dates of occurance, which is a rather obvious attempt to protect Obama while making it seem as if all this occurred under Trump. But, this actually goes to a memo about sexual harassment Horowitz sent to Deputy Attorney General Rod J. Rosenstein on May 31st. Inherited problem.

While Horowitz’s office investigates the allegations, it is the department that decides on any discipline. In several cases, Horowitz said Justice Department attorneys who were accused of sexual misconduct were not disciplined appropriately and in some cases were later given awards or bonuses.

This was the DOJ of Eric Holder and Loretta Lynch. With Barack Obama over-seeing them. Not all the allegations are sexual harassment: the #2 in the Marshals Service for Massachusetts was accused of sleeping with nine women in his office. Misconduct of a sexual nature, but not harassment.

There were instances in the Civil Division, especially those dealing with immigration law. Incidents in the FBI. In this, that, and the other. Nice problem Obama left Trump, eh?

Erie, Pa. Smashes Their Snow Record: Guess What’s To Blame?

So, this happened

(CNN) There’s White Christmas. And then there’s Whiteout Christmas.

Erie, Pennsylvania, experienced the second one Monday when a total of 34 inches of snow fell on Christmas Day, blanketing the city and shattering the city’s previous records for snowfall in a single day.

The snowfall total was more than four times the city’s previous all-time Christmas record of 8.1 inches, and it also broke the record for most snowfall in one day in the city’s history, which was 20 inches on Nov. 22, 1956.

The snow didn’t stop overnight, either.

Erie picked up another 19 inches of snow on Tuesday morning, making for a total ongoing snowfall total of 53 inches. That is the highest two-day snowfall total in the entire state of Pennsylvania, according to the National Weather Service.

Fun

So, of course

Comrade De Blasio Not Happy With Peasants Riding E-Bikes

New York City mayor Bill De Blasio previously had a big problem with horse drawn carriages, which allowed the proletariat to make money to eat and shelter. Now he sets his sights on something else

(UK Guardian) Cheap, electric bicycles have made life a lot easier for New York City’s legions of restaurant delivery workers, but the party may be over in the New Year.

City officials are promising a crackdown on e-bikes, which may be loved by environmentalists and the often poor, immigrant workforce that relies on them, but are loathed by many drivers and pedestrians who think they are a menace.

Under city law, the bikes are legal to own and sell, but riding them on the street can lead to a fine of up to $500. Democratic Mayor Bill de Blasio announced this fall that starting in 2018, businesses that have employees use the bikes are also subject to a fine of $100 for a first offense and $200 for each subsequent offense.

“Electric bikes are illegal to operate on city streets and those at the top of the food chain need to be held accountable,” city spokesman Austin Finan said. “Instead of merely targeting riders, we’re going after businesses that look the other way and leave their workers to shoulder the fine.”

You have a mode a transportation that is good for the environment, and good for the low wage workers. Glad Bill and the city elders care about these things.

“It’s not fair because people like me do depend on them,” said Martinez through a translator. The 44-year-old from Puebla, Mexico, came to the United States almost 15 years ago and has been working as a delivery person almost all that time, buying his electric bicycle almost three years ago. “We’re using this as something that lets us work and support our families.”

See? Bad for low wage workers (BTW, here 15 years and needs a translator? This is why many complain about illegal and legal immigration)

Police enforcement against the bicycles has already been on the upswing, with almost 1,000 of them confiscated by police in 2017, an increase of several hundred from the year before.

Wait a minute: de Blasio’s law enforcement is confiscating people’s property, property which is legal to own (but not, apparently, use) in NYC and New York State (state law takes precedence over local law)? They’re taking property away that could have cost a minimum of $500, and often in the thousands? How Progressive of Bill.

Doom: The Arctic Will Never Ever Be Frozen Ever Again Or Something

The Arctic as we knew it is no more, you guys (Mother Jones notes this story originally came from Grist)

This Should Freak Everyone Out: The Arctic Will Never Be Frozen Again

Last week, at a New Orleans conference center that once doubled as a storm shelter for thousands during Hurricane Katrina, a group of polar scientists made a startling declaration: The Arctic as we once knew it is no more.

See? Told ya!

The region is now definitively trending toward an ice-free state, the scientists said, with wide-ranging ramifications for ecosystems, national security, and the stability of the global climate system. It was a fitting venue for an eye-opening reminder that, on its current path, civilization is engaged in an existential gamble with the planet’s life-support system.

In an accompanying annual report on the Arctic’s health—titled “Arctic shows no sign of returning to reliably frozen region of recent past decades”—the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, which oversees all official U.S. research in the region, coined a term: “New Arctic.”

For such Progressive people, they sure are afraid of change, and seem to want things to stay like the past. They sure harass women like it’s the past, but, that’s a different story.

Until roughly a decade or so ago, the region was holding up relatively well, despite warming at roughly twice the rate of the planet as a whole. But in recent years, it’s undergone an abrupt change, which now defines it. The Arctic is our glimpse of an Earth in flux, transforming into something that’s radically different from today.

Like has constantly happened throughout the 4.5 billion years Earth has been around. Heck, 20,000 years ago the ice age ended.

Using 1,500 years of natural records compiled from lake sediments, ice cores, and tree rings as context, the NOAA report says the Arctic is changing at a rate far beyond what’s occurred in the region for millennia.

How disingenuous. Most of that time the Earth was in the midst of the Little Ice Age.

That the Arctic is now a relic of a time gone by—the first major part of the planet on a countdown clock—should shock us. It’s one of those facts that those of us who closely follow climate change knew was coming. And with its arrival, it is devastating in its totality.

The loss of the Old Arctic is as close as humanity has come so far to irreversibly transforming its planet into something fundamentally different than what has given rise to civilization over the past 10,000 years. This is a terrifying transition, and one worth mourning. But it’s also a reminder that our path as individuals and as a society is not fixed.

If the Arctic can change this quickly, then so must we.

Great, sounds great. Let’s start with all the Warmists, who need to give up their own use of fossil fuels and go carbon neutral. And pay lots of taxes and fees. And curtail their freedom. And start living like it’s the 1400’s.

California Gov. Brown Pardons Two Illegal Alien Felons To #Resist

Putting illegal aliens before citizens

From the article

Escalating the state’s showdown with the Trump administration over illegal immigration, California Gov. Jerry Brown used a Christmas holiday tradition to grant pardons Saturday to two men who were on the verge of being deported for committing crimes while in the U.S.

Brown, pairing his state’s combative approach to federal immigration authorities with his belief in the power of redemption, characterized the pardons as acts of mercy.

The Democratic governor moved as federal officials in recent months have detained and deported immigrants with felony convictions that resulted in the loss of their legal residency status, including many with nonviolent offenses that occurred years ago.

Remember when Democrats were saying they don’t want the “bad illegals?”

With the pardons, the reason for applicants’ deportations may be eliminated, said attorney Kevin Lo of Asian Americans Advancing Justice-Asian Law Caucus, which represented some of the men in a recent class-action lawsuit.

Yeah, no, they’re still illegally present in the United States, and already on the radar of ICE. Heck, this probably makes it even more likely that they’ll be deported.

Two of Brown’s pardons are Northern California Cambodian men picked up in October in those immigration sweeps, Mony Neth of Modesto and Rottanak Kong of Davis.

Kong was convicted on felony joyriding in 2003 in Stanislaus County at age 25 and sentenced to a year in jail. Neth was convicted on a felony weapons charge with a gang enhancement and a misdemeanor charge of receiving stolen property with a value of $400 or less in 1995 in Stanislaus County.

So, in Jerry World, suddenly gun charges are OK, as long as they are done by certain people.

Both were scheduled to be deported Monday, but, a federal judge put a hold on that due to some filed suits. Don’t expect this to last long, though, because federal law is clear: neither should be in this country. But, for Jerry, this is simply about #Resist to Trump.

Yes, Virginia, There Is A Santa Claus

Every Christmas, once everyone is up, Christmas greetings were made, hugs were exchanged, the presents were opened, and breakfast was being made, I would read this first in the paper (ye olde parental units get an actual paper, and they live in NJ). It is a Christmas classic that has always touched my soul. While some people outside of the Tri-State area have heard of it, rarely do papers outside of the NY-NJ-Conn area see it in print, and I always direct them to read it online. I humbly bring it to you, and hope it touches you as much as it touches me:

Yes, Virginia, There is a Santa Claus

Editorial Page, New York Sun, 1897

We take pleasure in answering thus prominently the communication below, expressing at the same time our great gratification that its faithful author is numbered among the friends of The Sun:

I am 8 years old. Some of my little friends say there is no Santa Claus. Papa says, “If you see it in The Sun, it’s so.” Please tell me the truth, is there a Santa Claus?
Virginia O’Hanlon

Virginia, your little friends are wrong. They have been affected by the skepticism of a sceptical age. They do not believe except what they see. They think that nothing can be which is not comprehensible by their little minds. All minds, Virginia, whether they be men’s or children’s, are little. In this great universe of ours, man is a mere insect, an ant, in his intellect as compared with the boundless world about him, as measured by the intelligence capable of grasping the whole of truth and knowledge.

Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus.

He exists as certainly as love and generosity and devotion exist, and you know that they abound and give to your life its highest beauty and joy. Alas! how dreary would be the world if there were no Santa Claus! It would be as dreary as if there were no Virginias. There would be no childlike faith then, no poetry, no romance to make tolerable this existence. We should have no enjoyment, except in sense and sight. The external light with which childhood fills the world would be extinguished.

Not believe in Santa Claus! You might as well not believe in fairies. You might get your papa to hire men to watch in all the chimneys on Christmas eve to catch Santa Claus, but even if you did not see Santa Claus coming down, what would that prove? Nobody sees Santa Claus, but that is no sign that there is no Santa Claus. The most real things in the world are those that neither children nor men can see. Did you ever see fairies dancing on the lawn? Of course not, but that’s no proof that they are not there. Nobody can conceive or imagine all the wonders there are unseen and unseeable in the world.

You tear apart the baby’s rattle and see what makes the noise inside, but there is a veil covering the unseen world which not the strongest man, nor even the united strength of all the strongest men that ever lived could tear apart. Only faith, poetry, love, romance, can push aside that curtain and view and picture the supernal beauty and glory beyond. Is it all real? Ah, Virginia, in all this world there is nothing else real and abiding.

No Santa Claus? Thank God he lives and lives forever. A thousand years from now, Virginia, nay 10 times 10,000 years from now, he will continue to make glad the heart of childhood.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!!!

And a Merry Christmas from deep down in my heart to all my friends and visitors out there.

If you would like to know the background on the letter, you can go to the 2004 posting of this.

Merry Christmas, Everyone!
