Wired’s Robin George Andrews thinks she totally has the solution to fixing this whole (made up) issue
TO STOP CLIMATE CHANGE, EDUCATE GIRLS AND GIVE THEM BIRTH CONTROL
CLIMATE CHANGE IS a ubiquitous hydra, a many-headed beast that affects everyone and everything in some form. Solutions to climate change range from the effective and the practical to the potentially catastrophically dangerous—but, in this somewhat heated debate, a potent weapon in our arsenal is falling by the wayside: the empowerment of women.
Last year a coalition of scientists, economists, policymakers, researchers, and business people published Project Drawdown, a compendium of ways to prevent carbon dioxide from escaping skywards. Drawing from a plethora of peer-reviewed research, the document ranks 80 practical, mitigating measures—along with 20 near-future concepts—that could push back the oncoming storm. (snip)
But two lesser-known solutions also made this most practical of lists: the education of girls (number 6) and family planning (number 7). This is a stunning revelation, one that couldn’t be more pertinent, and yet, for the most part, discussions of mitigation and de-carbonization focus heavily on other matters, from the perceived perils and bona fide benefits of nuclear power, to just how quickly solar power is proliferating.
Got that? We have to educate girl because of Hotcoldwetdry. Not because they deserve education (most education systems in the 1st World are run by leftists: why are they not educating girls already?), but because of a manufactured issue based on junk science. Hey, I wonder if these same Warmists will finally take on Islam, and especially Islam, for their treatment of women?
Then there’s family planning, something that’s indivisible from the education of girls. The planet is overpopulated, and the demands of its citizens greatly exceed the natural resources provided by our environment.
Contraception and prenatal care is denied to women across the world, from those in the United States, to communities in low-income nations. It’s either not available, not affordable, or social and/or religious motives ensure that it’s banned or heavily restricted. As a consequence, the world’s population will rise rapidly, consume ever more resources, and power its ambitions using fossil fuels. Carbon dioxide will continue to accumulate in the atmosphere.
What they really mean is contraception to make sure “minorities”, ie, Africans and Asians, in 3rd world countries do not breed, via contraception and abortion.
It’s farcical that this isn’t forming a major part of the debate over climate change mitigation. It’s not entirely clear why this is the case, but I’d suspect that regressive societal attitudes, along with the tendency of commentators to focus on the battle between different energy sectors, play suppressive roles in this regard.
Or, it could be that some people, even in the high end Warmist community, think it’s a Bad Idea to make the racist notion of aborting, sterilizing, and reducing the population in 3rd world countries a top shelf talking point. Even though this type of eugenics idea has been part of Progressive dogma for over 100 years.

The other illegal aliens do have a point: why should there be a focus on the DACA kids? What makes them so special? But, then again, they’re all illegal, and should be deported
Focus on Dreamers breeds resentment from other immigrants here illegally
Ever since Sam Paredes crossed into the U.S. illegally from Mexico nearly 30 years ago, he followed a simple philosophy of keeping his head down and trying to stay out of trouble.
The 39-year-old put in long hours for little pay as an office manager at a clothing wholesaler. He paid his taxes and hoped that after many years of waiting, there would come an immigration reform that would grant him a pathway to becoming an American citizen.
How is he working like this? He can’t get a legal work permit. Is he using someone else’s social security number and information? That’s the only way to lawfully fill out an I-9 form.
But one glimmer of hope afforded many young immigrants escaped him: Because the New York resident came too long ago, he did not qualify for immigration relief under the Obama-era Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, better known as DACA.
Now he watches as the White House and Congress continue to grapple and negotiate and argue — but at least talk about — the future of the so-called Dreamers.
“I’m very bitter. These DACA kids definitely have this sense of entitlement,” Paredes said. “People fought for them and they got DACA and they got their work permit and then they went to sleep, instead of working to fight for the rest of us.” (long snip about the Dreamers)
But the focus on Dreamers has caused tension between those in the community who can qualify for DACA and those who cannot.
Awww, what a shame, pitting one set of illegal aliens against another
Alessandro Negrete, 35, was getting ready for a night out in downtown Los Angeles recently when one of his friends worried aloud about Trump taking away the protection he got from the DACA program.
Negrete, a public relations worker, was 3 months old when a smuggler carried him from Mexico into the United States. Too old now to apply to become a Dreamer, he said he cannot help but feel resentment at how much attention the plight of this one segment of the immigrant community is receiving while people like him seem to get so little.
“You think you have it hard?” he angrily told his friend. “You at least have legal status. For some people like me, my mom and some of my neighbors, we don’t have [that].”
How is he working? Again, there’s no legal way to fill out an I-9, except with false documents. A driver’s license from the State of California won’t cut it. More documents are needed. Regardless, it’s amusing that those not eligible for DACA are resentful of the DACA recipients.
And there are even food fights between the Dreamers who are demanding a “clean” bill, one which just gives legal status with no strings like border security (what makes illegal aliens think they can demand the terms of the U.S. being generous to them?) and those who are willing to compromise, who are willing to take anything just to be legalized.
If DACA legislation does pass, Hvidston said she believes it’s only a matter of time before that group then advocates for those left out.
“The overall impression is that DACA recipients are the champions of those here illegally,” she said.
Don’t forget that the overall end goal is to legalize all the illegals, and, more importantly, make sure that they are citizens with the ability to vote. They won’t accept anything such as permanent legal resident status. The illegal aliens supporters will keep pushing the envelope to get them all legalized with the ability to vote. DACA is a stepping stone.

First off, liberals, like those at the failing, click-baity, #resist CNN, just can’t MoveOn from losing the 2016 election fair and square, after having nominated an unpopular, shady, un-charismatic woman who failed to campaign in several states, which meant she was beaten fair and square by a political neophyte who did the things required to win an election under the rules. Second, Russia Russia Russia!
What do the gun violence debate and 2016 election have in common?
The news that a federal grand jury has indicted 13 Russians over interference in the 2016 US election comes on the heels of what would seem to be a totally unrelated event – the mass shooting in a Florida school. The indictments were over alleged meddling in the presidential election, but Russia’s efforts to undermine US democracy may extend well beyond that. Russia appears to be stoking divisions on the acrimonious subject of gun violence, one where America’s system of government appears to be failing.
The indictment lays out in spine-chilling detail the extent to which the Kremlin mobilized to destabilize US democracy. A secretive, Russian technology company, the Internet Research Agency, sought to “sow discord in the US political system.”
It’s shocking that a foreign government would do that! It’s a good thing we never tried to interfere with foreign elections, like, say, Israeli and Russian ones.
America’s nonresponse to the epidemic encapsulates all that is broken in US politics and government. That’s because gun violence stands at the intersection of the most urgent problems threatening the functioning of American democracy and the cohesion of the country.
The gun violence crisis is the canary in the coal mine of the American political system, an ominous warning sign.
We might actually get something done if Leftists weren’t actually pushing for gun grabbing and banning private ownership as the ultimate goal. Few of their proposals go after the criminals that use them or may use them. It always seems to be the law abiding citizens who are most affected. And their policies do not work. Look at Chicago. Companies might actually develop a worthwhile smart gun if New Jersey liberals weren’t stupid. And they offer dumb things, like using the utterly flawed no-fly list.
Anyhow, here comes the real fun
In the hours after the Florida shooting, bot and troll tracking sites detected a proliferation of activity in Russian-linked Twitter accounts working to add to the acrimony that always follows US shootings. That is in keeping with the Kremlin’s well-documented efforts to intensify internal divisions in the United States and other democracies. But there may be more to Russia’s involvement.
The FBI is reportedly investigating whether a Russian, with ties to the Kremlin, funneled money illegally to the National Rifle Association to give to the Trump campaign. The NRA spent an unprecedented $30 million to help Trump campaign — through both pro-Trump and anti-Clinton efforts — more than double what it spent to help Mitt Romney in 2012.
Bots and trolls!!!!!! ZOMG!!!!! Interestingly, Frida Ghitis, who’s writing this screed, and her editor, fail to note that the CNN article cited about “funneled money illegally” stated that CNN could not independently verify the McClatchy article it came from, nor did the FBI reply. Strange to leave important info out. Eh, doesn’t matter, because Russia Russia Russia. Oh, and CNN was unable to independently verify the whole Russian bot thing Frida pretty much bases her article on, vis a vis guns
The Alliance For Securing Democracy is a group housed at The German Marshall Fund of the United States (GMF) think tank to “defend against, deter, and raise the costs on Russian and other actors’ efforts to undermine democracy and democratic institutions,†according to its mission statement.
The group does not disclose which accounts it tracks and CNN has not independently verified its findings.
Among the hashtags and topics related to the shooting are #falseflag, #fbi, #gunreformnow, #fbigate, #parklandschoolshooting, the name of the shooter — Nikolas Cruz — and Florida.
But, they still ran with the article. As did Frida. Who yammers on and on and on about guns and money in politics, moving on from her premise on Russia Russia Russia, because, quite frankly, it’s thin, ending with
The United States is failing to stop a problem that has killed more Americans than all the wars in US history because money now trumps principles. Because partisanship overwhelms common sense. America’s adversaries have found these weaknesses and are using it against the United States. The gun problem is a warning. If the country cannot solve this crisis, much worse lies ahead.
What she forgets to do is offer solutions. Similar to what Cass Sunstein and others are doing. Lots of complaints, but, they’re just saying “Do Something!” Perhaps it’s because they know their ideas are extreme.
Oh, and perhaps CNN could give up its own use of armed security at the CNN buildings around the world.

They won’t give up their own use of fossil fuels and carbon footprints, they just want you to be forced by Government to give up yours, and they’re shamefully using children
(AP) Environmental activists are suing Washington state, the latest state-level effort to boost use of renewable energy.
Thirteen children backed by the non-profit Our Children’s Trust filed a lawsuit on Friday in King County Superior Court to force the state to end its reliance on fossil fuels. The only way to do so would be for the state to move toward producing all of its energy through renewable means by 2050, Andrea Rodgers, one of the lawyers that filed the case, said in an interview. (snip)
“We appreciate the governor’s work; but while words are important, they’re not everything,” Rodgers said. “The emissions in Washington are still substantial. We still have transportation and energy systems that are dependent on fossil fuels. We need a complete transformation.”
Plaintiffs in the lawsuit are children that range in age from 7 to 17.
Wouldn’t it be funny if they won and the judge ruled that the state of Washington may no longer use fossil fuels for operations? All those state owned cars and trucks and boats that could no longer be used, etc and so forth. The state would have to spend an enormous amount of money to replace all that. Guess who pays? Those children that range in age from 7 to 17. Who would probably leave the state because their taxes and cost of living skyrocketed. Which is what would happen anyhow if they win their lawsuit.
It seeks to make the state establish a plan to “stabilize the climate system and protect the vital natural resources on which plaintiffs and future generations will depend.” It also charges that an existing law that obligates the state to reduce its emissions of greenhouse gases by 2020 to 1990 levels, and by 2050 to 50 percent below 1990 levels or 70 percent below the state’s projected emissions that year, still permits “dangerous” levels of those gasses.
They’re fighting to raise their power costs, food costs, clothing costs, home costs, and so forth. And to make everyone else Comply.
