Meh. It’s still probably your fault for refusing to live in an off the grid tiny home while growing your own veggies and making your clothes out of hemp
Scientists Identify A Major Source Of Climate Warming. It’s Not CO2
For the first time, scientists were able to use satellites to map the potential warming effect of large-scale changes to vegetation on the Earth’s surface.
“Our results show that vegetation cover change over the period 2000–2015 has produced on average a brighter but warmer land surface,†reads a new study published in the journal Nature.
The European Commission Joint Research Center’s new study found “perturbations in the surface energy balance generated by vegetation change from 2000 to 2015 have led to an average increase of [0.23 degrees Celsius] in local surface temperature where those vegetation changes occurred.â€
“Vegetation transitions behind this warming effect mainly relate to agricultural expansion in the tropics, where surface brightening and consequent reduction of net radiation does not counter-balance the increase in temperature associated with reduction in transpiration,†the study found.
A large part of this study is looking at land use, and how small changes can have big impacts, something that Skeptics have been saying for a long time, to go with the Urban Heat Island effect (UHI) and natural variation. Things like forestation, deforestation, turning woodland into farmland (or cities). Planting crops in areas that didn’t used to have them. Creating woodland in areas that didn’t use to have them. All these things and more can have profound effects on weather patterns, and those long-term weather pattern averages are what is known as climate.
And let’s not forget that increased CO2 increases plant growth, and nature puts out more CO2 than mankind.

Did you hear about this one?
(Miami Herald) Eight days after mass shooter Nikolas Cruz murdered 17 people inside Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, Broward’s top cop on Thursday revealed a stunning series of failures by the sheriff’s department.
A school campus cop heard the gunfire, rushed to the building but never went inside — instead waiting outside for another four agonizing minutes as Cruz continued the slaughter.
And long before Cruz embarked on the worst school shooting in Florida history, Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies had multiple warnings that the 19-year-old was a violent threat and a potential school shooter, according to records released Thursday.
In November, a tipster called BSO to say Cruz “could be a school shooter in the making†but deputies did not write up a report on that warning. It came just weeks after a relative called urging BSO to seize his weapons. Two years ago, according to a newly released timeline of interactions with Cruz’s family, a deputy investigated a report that Cruz “planned to shoot up the school†— intelligence that was forwarded to the school’s resource officer, with no apparent result.
The school’s resource officer, Scot Peterson, 54, was suspended without pay then immediately resigned and retired. Two other deputies have been placed on restricted duty while Internal Affairs investigates how they handled the two shooter warnings. (snip)
Peterson — named school resource officer of the year for Parkland in 2014 — was in another building, dealing with a student issue when the shots sounded. Armed with his sidearm, Peterson ran to the west side of Building 12 and set up in a defensive position, then did nothing for four minutes until the gunfire stopped, the sheriff said.
On Thursday, Israel said surveillance footage captured the officer’s inaction. Asked what Peterson should have done, Israel said: “Went in. Addressed the killer. Killed the killer.â€
And then there’s this
(Business Leader) Deputies from the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s office are guarding the home of the school resource officer who was stationed at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School after his family requested the protection, according to multiple news reports on Thursday.
Local Fox affiliate WSVN said it sent a reporter to the Boynton Beach, Florida, home of Broward County Sheriff’s deputy Scot Peterson for an interview when the reporter was met with six deputies “standing guard outside.”
One man gets six armed law enforcement officers. An entire school gets one. Who failed to act as gunfire rang out in the school.
As far as arming teachers, here’s an idea. First, allow retired military members and police officers who have experience with guns to serve as protection officers. I bet there are plenty of granddads who would be up for it. Second, allow teachers to be armed if they choose. They’d have to go through a background check and a firearms safety course, as well as be trained in the use of the gun.
Stress to teachers that they do not even have to load the weapon if they are uncomfortable (bear with me a minute, I know what you’re thinking). Allow them to carry one of those fake pistols that look utterly realistic. Some will open carry, some will concealed carry. The point here is not to shoot someone, but to deter a wacko from coming to the school looking for an easy murder spree. This would apply to all schools, all the way up through colleges. Deterrence.
If you’re banning guns, you’re taking them away from the law abiding. Criminals will still have theirs. Let’s allow schools to have the same protection the failed officer is getting.

Will Nancy Pelosi be making another eight hour yammering on the House floor about how great illegal aliens are?
(WNCN) A Mexican citizen living in Raleigh is facing multiple charges after breaking into a home and sexually assaulting a child, according to a Wake County Magistrate’s Order.
Oscar Paez Uribe, 39, of the 4000 block of Vendue Range, is accused of breaking into a home in the 6000 block of Buffaloe Road in Raleigh on Feb. 17, “with the intent to terrorize an occupant of the building,†the order shows.
Once inside, Uribe kidnapped a child under 16 and restrained the child and then sexually assaulted them, charging documents show.
Uribe is facing charges of felony first-degree kidnapping, felony break/enter terrorize/injure, and felony indecent liberties with a child.
A prosecutor said Uribe in in the U.S. illegally and is being held on an immigration detainer. A warrant shows Uribe is a citizen of Mexico.
He had previously been charged under a different alias with two counts of rape/statutory sex and summarily deported in 2007.
(ABC11) “I would submit to you that based on the fact that he was arrested before, deported before, and is now back in the country illegally, and has now allegedly broke in and committed an additional sexual offense, I would ask the court to at least set the bond to $500,000,” the state attorney continued.
Judge Craig Croom, however, denied that request and set the new amount to a $300,000 secured bond. Croom also ordered Uribe to have no contact with the victim or any member of her family, stay at least 50 yards away from the home on Buffaloe Road, and have no unsupervised contact with any child younger than 16.
Whether he made bond is unknown. None of the local articles say. And ICE is probably watching in case he does make bond, because Uribe is a flight risk.
The Buffalo Rd address is not that far from where I live, and I drive by it every day to work. And now we’re going to have to pay to put this scumbag child molesting illegal alien in jail, all because Democrats, and some squishy Republicans, are against actually securing the border, and do all they can to entice people to enter the country illegally.

Apparently, Leslie Jones was mad that McGuire brought up Jones losing to Canada at Sochi
(NY Post) Leslie Jones put NBC Sports analyst Pierre McGuire on notice Thursday morning, as the veteran commentator rehashed painful Olympic memories during the USA-Canada women’s hockey gold medal game.
On notice!
Speaking with Team USA’s Gigi Marvin during the second intermission, McGuire pressed the 30-year-old forward about the 2014 Sochi games, in which the US lost to its neighbors to the north 3-2.
“You’re one of the 10 ladies that experienced the disappointment in Sochi. What’s going to be your message coming out here for the last 20 minutes?†the former exec and longtime analyst asked, via Awful Announcing.
With one period standing between Team USA and Olympic gold, which they would ultimately claim, many weren’t pleased with McGuire bringing up the heartbreaking history, “Saturday Night Live†staple Jones in particular.
“Okay, f–k asshole! Why the f–k would you ask her that right now, in the middle of a f–king game that she’s playing right now?†Jones seethed in a video posted on Twitter. “Thank you. Thank you for putting that in her motherf–king head. You know what, get your ass the f–k away from the hockey player! You know what, I swear to God, I swear to God. See, when I go, y’all lose your f–king mind! What the f–k would you ask her that for?â€
A couple points. First, sportscasters do that all the time. This is what they do. Second, Jones wasn’t even on the team. She’s a “comic”. This whole thing of getting completely unhinged in the name of other people is ridiculous. Absurd. Silly.
Just the other day, people were being Outraged on behalf of Jennifer Lawrence, who posed in a low cut dress with slits way up the side. We saw all the typical 3rd wave feminism stuff, people accusing others of misogyny. Only one problem
Jennifer Lawrence says she chose to be cold as she attacks 'ridiculous' feminists for criticising her revealing dresshttps://t.co/WYy7uz6GuD
— The Telegraph (@Telegraph) February 21, 2018
Jennifer Lawrence WANTED to wear the dress. She didn’t WANT to put a coat over it. Surprisingly, some women really like fashion, and want to show it off. Weird, right? Hilariously, people were still Offended and Outraged even after Ms. Lawrence responded to all the Outrage.
A third point, when people are getting this out of control over something so minor as these things, is it any wonder that some people go the next step and commit violence over minor things? Things that have nothing to do with them? If everyone is now a Victim, if everyone wants to be a Victim, if minor things that we used to brush off now make us Victims, then people want retribution.

Remember, next time you’re pulled over for a traffic infraction, tell the officer that they’re un-American for daring to enforce the law
ICE IS ‘UN-AMERICAN,’ SAYS BUSINESSMAN DEPORTED AFTER NEARLY 40 YEARS IN U.S.
An Ohio businessman who called the United States his home for nearly 40 years before being deported three weeks ago has hit out at the country’s Immigration and Custom’s Enforcement (ICE) agency, accusing it of using “un-American” tactics to arrest undocumented immigrants.
Amer Othman, who came to the United States from Jordan 38 years ago and had been credited with helping revive his local Youngstown community, was arrested during what he thought was a routine meeting with immigration authorities, according to CBS News.
After being detained for two weeks, the businessman was deported to Jordan, his country of birth, and forced to leave behind his wife and four adult daughters, all of whom are U.S. citizens.
“What ICE has done is un-American,” Othman said, telling CBS he was considering suing the agency. “I love the American people. I love my community.”
Got that? Othman has been here illegally since 1979. The legal battles have been going on since the mid-1990’s.
ICE spokesperson Rachel Yong Yow said that Othman’s case had undergone “exhaustive judicial review at multiple levels of the nation’s courts” over the last decade and that “in each review, the courts have uniformly held that Mr. Othman does not have a legal basis to remain in the U.S.”
He was given time to wrap up his affairs, and deported. Because he has no legal basis to remain in the U.S. But, hey, ICE is un-American for doing the job it was tasked to do by Congress, who passed laws. The only person to blame is Mr. Othman, who had plenty of opportunity to leave the country and apply for citizenship, or even some other type of legal status, but didn’t. This is on Othman.
Meanwhile, in other illegal alien news
Arrests of undocumented immigrants in Boston are up 50 percent
This goes with lots of ICE actions in the Los Angeles area, and, one of my favorite headlines
NJ.com apparently needs to explain it’s because there are lots of illegal aliens in New Jersey, and Trump is allowing ICE to do their job.

As things like this happened
we had NRA spokesperson Dana Loesch schooling an emotional sheriff
(Daily Caller) NRA spokeswoman Dana Loesch lit up Broward County (Fla.) Sheriff Scott Israel Wednesday for apparently missing the school shooter’s litany of red flags.
Sheriff Israel said that there is a possibility his office made a “mistake†in its evaluation of the school shooter who killed 17 people, but argued that law enforcement around the country needs more power to be able to involuntarily treat people who are mentally ill.
“In Florida, we call it a Baker Act. It allows us to take an individual to be, against their will, involuntarily, to go to a mental health facility and be treated,†Israel explained.
Loesch questioned how the shooter apparently did not meet that standard.
“Thirty-nine visits not meet that standard? 39 visits, assaulting students, assaulting parents, taking bullets and knives to school did not meet that standard?†she questioned.
That went on for a bit more, and Israel wasn’t amused, and tried to make it about Loesch, but, hey, perhaps the sheriff could have paid attention to this
(CNN) Just months before Nikolas Cruz killed 17 at his former high school in South Florida, the host family who had taken him in immediately after his mother’s death warned local law enforcement that the 19-year-old had “used a gun against people before” and “has put the gun to others’ heads in the past,” according to records obtained by CNN.
It’s the latest indication of how law enforcement encountered warning signs about Cruz’s violent behavior before he attacked students and teachers at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School on Valentine’s Day.
CNN was able to obtain records of many of the times that law enforcement was called to the home, which includes
Rock interrupted Cruz and a fight broke out between them, according to the documents. Cruz left the home, and Rocxanne Deschamps called 911. She warned the police dispatcher that Cruz said “he was going to get his gun and come back,” records show. She said Cruz had “bought a gun from Dick’s last week and is now going to pick it up.”
Rocxanne Deschamps told the dispatcher that Cruz had “bought tons of ammo” and “has used a gun against ppl before,” the notes said. “He has put the gun to others heads in the past.”
Exactly how are “enhanced” background checks going to work when the current background checks do not? When people are not placed on the naughty list? When law enforcement fails to act on reports that current gun owners are using them to threaten people? This is not an Old West movie: if you’re simply whipping your gun(s) out to intimidate and/or threaten people who are not a significant danger to you, then you aren’t being responsible, and should be put in timeout, with your guns confiscated for a time period.
Passing more laws when Government is not implementing fully current law is a folly.

I know everyone is very, very shocked. We saw the same thing for the Kyoto Protocol, where few countries were even close to their goals. This has made the Warmists at the Washington Post very sad that this super historic agreement is a sham
Countries made only modest climate-change promises in Paris. They’re falling short anyway.
Barely two years ago, after weeks of intense bargaining in Paris, leaders from 195 countries announced a global agreement that once had seemed impossible. For the first time, the nations of the world would band together to reduce humanity’s reliance on fossil fuels in an effort to hold off the most devastating effects of climate change.
“History will remember this day,†the secretary general of the United Nations, Ban Ki-moon, said amid a backdrop of diplomats cheering and hugging.
Two years later, the euphoria of Paris is colliding with the reality of the present.
Global emissions of carbon dioxide are rising again after several years of remaining flat. The United States, under President Trump, is planning to withdraw from the Paris accord and is expected to see emissions increase by 1.8Â percent this year, after a three-year string of declines. Other countries, too, are showing signs they might fail to live up to the pledges they made in Paris.
In short, the world is off target.

Really, like most Warmist articles in the news, they aren’t written as journalism, but as blog posts one might find at Think Progress or The Daily Kos.
