Bummer: World Leaders Leaning Back Into Natural Gas

The climate cultists and their Elites have been pushing to end natural gas for quite some time. Banning the use of gas heaters, gas stoves, and anything natural gas. But, now (via Climate Change Dispatch)

(Semafor) Natural gas is making a quiet but highly placed comeback at Climate Week. At a number of events on Tuesday, senior officials made a case for gas as essential for energy security and a buttress to renewables. Anna Bjerde, managing director of operations at the World Bank, told a small group of reporters that the lender is agnostic about which technologies it helps finance to improve access to electricity around Africa. The main focus of that work has been on solar, she said, but “gas has to be discussed and pursued” for providing baseload power. “We should be leaning in to help countries develop gas.”

That view should get a warm reception from the Trump administration, which has reportedly been pressuring the World Bank to unwind its restrictions on financing oil and gas production. And it was a view echoed in a separate briefing at the Rockefeller Foundation offices by Daniel Chapo, president of Mozambique, who said he is working to expand the country’s large hydroelectric dam while also pursuing gas production deals with Western drilling companies, and hopes to use more of that gas for domestic power plants.

In the evening, between glasses of prosecco and mini lobster rolls at a reception in a high-end Times Square hotel, Ditte Juul Jørgensen, director-general for energy at the European Commission, took the podium alongside Toby Rice, CEO of major US gas producer EQT, and lauded the security benefits of LNG. “The energy war in Ukraine has come to redefine our strategy of independence,” she said. “The energy transition will continue to be our path, but we will need gas for many years to come.”

Man, now that is a real shame. I’m guessing many are realizing that all that wind and solar are just not making ends meet, which is making the peasants very unhappy with their energy bills. It also means that more are using wood and wood pellets, and those pellets are often shipped on big, fossil fueled cargo vessels.

Yale students and faculty head to New York for climate summit

Climate Week NYC, a week-long climate gathering that attracts leaders and researchers from around the world, featured several Yale faculty speakers on issues including the U. S. environmental movement, international organizations’ climate obligations and carbon credits.

Several students also traveled to New York City this week for the summit. With more than 900 events total, Climate Week is one of the largest climate summits in the world.

Weirdly, nowhere in the article do they say how these people traveled to NYC from New Haven, Connecticut. You can bet it was in fossil fueled vehicles.

Split screen: Governor Newsom launches new international climate partnerships as Trump unleashes unhinged UN rant

Governor Gavin Newsom spent this week in New York showing the world that California is a stable, reliable partner – a stark contrast to President Trump’s unhinged rant to the United Nations (said the Governor: “what an abomination, what an embarrassment, what a fraud”).

The Governor was in New York for Climate Week, an annual convening of local, state and international leaders that occurs on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly. Here are the highlights of his trip.

How’d Gavin get to NYC?

Florida Detains Over 6,000 Illegals

It’s a good start

Florida officials announce more than 6,000 immigration arrests

Over the last five months, Florida law enforcement officials have arrested more than 6,000 people suspected of being in the country illegally, a U.S. Border Patrol official announced Friday, as the state continues its aggressive approach to help carry out President Donald Trump’s mass deportation agenda.

That total is in comparison to the more than 5,000 arrests carried out over a three-month period in the Los Angeles area, according to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and the more than 940 arrests that officials made over one month in a Washington, D.C., operation.

Local and state officers in Florida have been empowered to launch a sweeping immigration enforcement effort to arrest residents who lack legal status, thanks to the Trump administration’s revival of an old federal program that delegates authority to local police, county sheriffs and state agencies. (snip)

On Friday, officials announced that an operation carried out by local, state and federal partners resulted in more than 350 arrests in central Florida over the span of four days. Speaking to reporters at an event in Cocoa, Florida, Jeff Dinise, chief patrol agent of the U.S. Border Patrol’s Miami Sector, said the federal government has “no better partner” than the state of Florida, holding up the state as a national model.

I wonder how many illegals in Florida are getting out and going to sanctuary states like California, which will overburden them?

(Fox News) Florida is receiving a major boost in federal funding as state and federal leaders announced Friday a “historic agreement” with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) through the 287(g) program.

Governor Ron DeSantis joined ICE Deputy Director Madison D. Sheahan and other officials in Tallahassee, Florida, to announce that the state will receive more than $28 million, with an additional $10 million directed to local law enforcement. The funding is part of $1.7 billion being distributed nationwide under President Trump’s “Big, Beautiful Bill,” Sheahan said.

More! More!

(UK Guardian) Immigrants with no criminal record are now the largest group in US immigration detention, according to data released by the government. The number of people with no criminal history arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (Ice) and detained by the Trump administration has now surpassed the number of those charged with crimes.

Ice, the federal agency most heavily relied upon by Donald Trump to carry out the US president’s mass deportation campaign, released its latest numbers on Thursday.

According to the official data, 16,523 people in immigration detention with no criminal record were arrested by Ice, compared to 15,725 who do have a criminal record and 13,767 with pending criminal charges.

Except, federal law states that anyone in the US without permission is illegally present, for which the penalty is a small fine, potential incarceration, and deportation. They broke the law coming to the US illegally. Too bad the Credentialed Media are activists, not journalists.

LOL: Islamists Abandon St. Greta’s Pro-Hamas Flotilla Because Of LGBT

I wonder if Greta and her ilk have learned a lesson?

From the article

Greta Thunberg’s flotilla bound for Gaza has descended into chaos after pro-Palestine activists quit the convoy when they learnt LGBTQ+ campaigners were on board, it has been claimed.

The 22-year-old Swedish eco-protestor has also reportedly left her leadership role due to disagreements among organisers, but she will stay onboard as a participant volunteer.

On September 1, around 20 vessels displaying Palestinian flags and carrying some 350 pro-Palestinian activists departed from Barcelona. (snip)

Now, political differences have allegedly plagued the leadership of the GSF, with reports that Khaled Boujemaa, the Tunisian coordinator of the convoy, defected after learning about the presence of queer activists on board.

In two video streams posted on social media, he is understood to have complained about the addition of members of the Tunisian LGBTQ+ community to the convoy – activists who joined the flotilla when it stopped at the northern port of Bizerte.

‘We were lied to about the identity of some participants in the vanguard of the flotilla, I accuse the organisers of having hidden this aspect from us,’ he said, according to a translation by Le Courrier de l’Atlas.

The cause of his frustration was allegedly the participation of activist Saif Ayadi on the flotilla, a ‘communist queer militant’ who boarded the convoy when it stopped off in Tunisia.

Others complained, as well, and booked off the ship. Did these 1st world wackos like St. Greta even consider the beliefs of the Palestinian people, ruled over by Hamas and the Palestinian Authority? That LGBT is not a thing in Islam? That Islamists kill LGBT?

House Democrat Support Hamas, Will Send Letter To Trump Urging Him To Do The Same

If you’re urging recognition of a “Palestinian state”, you’re recognizing Hamas, supporting them, and rewarding them for killing around 1,200 civilians, raping, torturing, and harming them, along with kidnapping them

House Democrats to send letter to Trump on Friday urging US to recognize Palestinian statehood

Dozens of House Democrats have signed a letter to Donald Trump and secretary of state Marco Rubio, urging the administration to recognize Palestinian statehood.

The letter, led by California Democrat Ro Khanna, has 46 signatures, and lawmakers will send it to the US president on Friday, according to plans first provided to the Guardian.

The letter’s delivery will coincide with the conclusion of the United Nations general assembly. France joined the growing chorus of US allies – including the UK, Canada, Australia and Portugal – and on Monday called for the formal recognition of a Palestinian state.

“Just as the lives of Palestinians must be immediately protected, so too must their rights as a people and nation urgently be acknowledged and upheld,” the letter reads. “We encourage the governments of other countries that have yet to recognize Palestinian statehood, including the United States, to do so as well.”

This is simply a continuation of the Democrats supporting anyone who hates Israel and loathes Jews, who want them killed and Israel erased from the map. Nothing new, but, it is rather bold for a large group of elected Democrats to speak out in this manner, proving what they have been accused of. We already know that the base of the Democrat party are a bunch of Jew haters. Will all the Jews who reliably vote Democrat finally get that Democrats hate them, or, will they continue to be brainwashed Useful Idiots?

Joining Khanna in signing the letter are several House progressives including Congressman Greg Casar of Texas, Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal of Washington state and Congressman Maxwell Frost of Florida. In August, the Guardian reported on the draft of the letter, which, at the time, had a little over a dozen signatures.

Unsurprising that Islamist Jayapal is on there. I’d expect the rest of The Squad to have signed it, including Islamist Ilahan Omar

Khanna is not expecting the letter to force the president’s hand in any way. “I’m not holding my breath as he [Trump] is giving a total blank check to Netanyahu,” the congressman said. But he does hope it will send a “clear” statement.

“America has a new generation that will recognize a Palestinian state when we come to power, that vehemently disagrees with Donald Trump, and that disagrees with how Biden handled the war,” Khanna said.

Expect it to be released in full to all the friendly lefty media outlets the minute it is delivered to Trump and Rubio. It’s nice that Khanna is saying that the new generation hates Israel and Jews. This goes with

Senate Dems, Sanders Call for US Recognition of Palestinian Statehood

As some of the United States’ closest allies join most of the world’s nations in officially recognizing Palestinian statehood amid Israel’s worsening genocide and famine in Gaza, US Sen. Jeff Merkley and seven colleagues on Thursday urged President Donald Trump to follow suit.

The senators introduced a nonbinding resolution calling on the president “to recognize a demilitarized state of Palestine, as consistent with international law and the principles of a two-state solution, alongside a secure state of Israel.”

Republicans should be nailing Democrats on their support for Hamas during the mid-terms.

Fish Wrap: Trump May Be Wiping His Hands Of The Whole Ukraine-Russia War

This is in the “news analysis” section of the NY Times, so, just one step away from the opinion section. Oh, and hey, weird how the Times and few other media outlets bother mentioning Ukraine anymore

With His Pivot on Ukraine, Trump May Be Washing His Hands of the War

Eight months into his second term, President Trump has made a declaration about Ukraine that sounded vaguely like the ones his predecessor, President Joseph R. Biden Jr., used to make. With the right mix of courage, ingenuity and weapons from NATO, he asserted on Tuesday, Ukraine could force Russia to retreat from the territory it has seized in three and a half years of brutal war.

But scratch the surface, and a deeper desire seemed buried in Mr. Trump’s reversal of position during the U.N. meetings in New York this week. Mr. Trump appears to want to wash his hands of the Ukraine conflict, after having no success bringing President Vladimir V. Putin to the negotiating table, and a dwindling chance of acting as mediator between the two warring parties.

Based on what? I’ve pre-read the article twice. Can David E. Sanger read Trump’s mind?

Like many policy declarations by Mr. Trump, it is hard to divine his true beliefs, and impossible to assure he will not change position again. He is nothing if not mercurial. His foreign policy views, former aides say, are more often driven by pique and a sense that he has been disrespected than by strategic analysis.

Hard to define, but, David did.

White House officials did not respond on the record to questions about Mr. Trump’s new strategy. But a senior White House official argued that during the Biden administration, the United States only had one option, to fund Ukraine indefinitely, and there were no negotiations underway with Russia. The official said that Mr. Trump remained willing to impose a round of tariffs against Moscow — not traditional sanctions — but only if Europe ceased buying all energy from Russia.

Maybe Ukraine should stop selling grain to Russia? It looks like Trump gave negotiations with Putin a shot, in the same way you might negotiate with a business rival. It didn’t work out, so, Trump is moving a different way

For his part, President Volodymyr Zelensky did his best to sound enthusiastic about the president’s rhetorical shift, which he called a “game changer.”

Mr. Zelensky had some reason to celebrate: His long-running effort to get back into Mr. Trump’s good graces, after their famous confrontation in the Oval Office in February, had paid off. Mr. Trump was no longer pressuring him to give up land for peace, which could be politically suicidal for the wartime president. Moreover, Mr. Trump, openly annoyed at Mr. Putin, may have been pressuring the Russian leader to make concessions, rather than Mr. Zelensky.

What does it all mean in reality? I doubt Trump is washing his hands, as he would love to go down as the president who brought peace

Top EU diplomat warns Trump that Europe can’t shoulder Ukraine war burden alone

Europe alone is not responsible for helping Ukraine bring an end to its war with Russia, EU top diplomat Kaja Kallas warned Thursday.

That is particularly true when considering President Donald Trump’s pledge to halt the fighting, she said in an interview on the sidelines of the U.N. General Assembly.

“He was the one who promised to stop the killing,” Kallas said. “So it can’t be on us.”

Her comments come as Ukraine and its allies try to divine the meaning of Trump’s sudden about-face on the war between Kyiv and Moscow.

Why not? Why can’t Europe take the lead, considering they are right there and claim they are in danger? How about they all stop buying European energy, to start with?

Your Fault: Hotcoldwetdry To Make Airports Louder

So, we need to restrict you peasants from taking fossil fueled flights. Not the Elites, of course

Climate change will ‘lead to noisier take offs’

Scientists have discovered that warmer air from climate change will create more noise pollution from departing airplanes around European airports.

Researcher’s from the University of Reading have been studying how rising air temperatures change the way aircrafts take off.

On average, departing aircraft climb angles will decrease by 1-3%, but individual hot days could reduce climb angles by up to 7.5%.

Dr Jonny Williams, lead author at the University of Reading, said: “Over the next three decades, thousands of extra people in London could be blighted by noise pollution caused by climate change.”

So, this is all about climb angles. Commercial jets typically take off at 5-15 degrees of pitch, and rarely exceed 20 degrees when they are higher up. So, what, the angles will be 5.89-14.79 degrees? It’s like saying people can really notice the difference between 70F and 71.7F. Planes will still take off the same, typically you see about 10 degree for a typical airport. High altitude airports tend to have lower up angles.

They focused on the 50-decibel level, which marks a boundary where aircraft noise becomes more noticeable to residents.

The team studied how climb angles of the Airbus A320 commonly used for short European flights affect this threshold as the climate changes.

In central London, around 60,000 people currently live within the 50dB noise footprint of a typical A320 aircraft.

Changes in climate and population density could mean around 2,500 additional people are brought into this boundary.

Whoop de do. Except the takeoff angle won’t really change. Heathrow is supposedly limited to 5 degrees, which is weird, because they try to limit noise, hence their approach angle for some bigger jets is 3.2 instead of the typical 3.0, a slightly higher angle to reduce noise time. Not quite a slam dunk.

Dr Williams explained that the problem gets worse with different types of sound. Low frequency noise which travels further will “increase the most” whilst deeper sounds “annoy human ears and can cause stress and sleep problems”.

“Without action on greenhouse gas emissions, rising temperatures will make managing the problem of airport noise more difficult, even as engine technology advances,” he said.

Maybe do not live near an airport? Remember, these same people have no problem forcing people out in the countryside to deal with the noise and constant blocking of sun as blades revolve.

Let’s start with the action by banning politicians and climate cult scientists from taking fossil fueled flights.

Rip Curl Loses $83 Million After Replacing Woman Spokesman With Gender Confused

This is what Rip Curl did

Let’s see the details

Kathmandu, Rip Curl owner slumps to huge full-year loss

The parent company of Kathmandu and Rip Curl has posted a shock $93.6 million statutory loss ($82.9 million US) – its worst in at least a decade.

KMD Brands said when excluding a $45.5 million non-cash writedown of its Oboz footwear business and other items, it still lost $28.3 million on an underlying basis for the year to July 31.

KMD said it was once again not paying shareholders a dividend, as it hasn’t since 2023, and was taking steps to carefully manage capital.

KMD announced earlier this month it was closing 21 stores, mostly outside Australia, out of its global portfolio of 328 company-owned Kathmandu and Rip Curl shops.

As for its individual businesses, its Rip Curl surf lifestyle brand made $30.6 million in underlying earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amorisation (EBIDTA), down 27% from last year, while its Kathmandu outdoor store chain posted a $1.3 million EBITDA loss after a $16 million profit in 2023/24.

Surfers know who women and men are, and with the ever growing number of women surfing, they can go with O’Neil, Body Glove, Billabong, Quicksilver, and so many other brands for surf apparel, wetsuits, boards, and more. Too bad, because Rip Curl has an awesome line. Their surfing wetsuits fit best, have room in the shoulders. Did Rip Curl think women would be appreciative of replacing Bethany with what is clearly a man in a dress with fake boobs?

With the store closures there are also supposed to be a lot of layoffs.

This is January 2024

Rip Curl’s U-turn on promotion of transgender female surfer is living proof that women are finally fighting back against erasure, and winning

With “R.I.P. RipCurl” trending this week, there are two questions we should be asking.

First, when will big corporates learn that “go woke, go broke” is real?

Second, when will discrimination against women and girls end?

Thanks to the actions of Rip Curl over the past five days, the once iconic Australian surf brand is living proof that women are finally fighting back against companies using transgender women to promote products for women and girls.(snip)

Late last year Rip Curl dropped their popular brand ambassador and living embodiment of resilience and strength, surfer Bethany Hamilton, because she does not believe transgender women should be allowed to compete against women at the sport’s highest level.

And men shouldn’t. There are certain moves that are much harder for women to make due to core and leg strength, not too mention men having stronger shoulders and back muscles, easier to catch waves. So, women just stopped buying Rip Curl. And men stopped buying Rip Curl, because surfers like real women.

It seems, however, that Rip Curl like so many other big corporates (it was purchased by Kathmandu for $350 million in 2019) decided inclusion was more important than biological female role models for women and girls.

And that is one hell of a good point: you have a good, upstanding, responsible female role model for girls wanting to get into surfing, and you replace her with a guy with mental illness (who has been photo’d wearing a hijab, too boot). Which one is a better role model?

NY Times: US Isolation On Display During UN Climate Week Or Something

Weirdly, the Paper Of Record forgot to mention all the long fossil fueled trip, mostly on private jets, world leaders took to NYC

At Global Climate Summit This Week, U.S. Isolation Was on Full Display

At a climate summit at the United Nations on Wednesday, the vast majority of the world’s nations gathered to make their newest pledges to reduce planet-warming greenhouse gas emissions over the next decade.

Geopolitical heavyweights including China, Russia, Japan and Germany were there. Dozens of small island states were there. The world’s poorest countries, including Chad and the Central African Republic, were there. Venezuela, Syria, Iran — there, too.

The United States was not.

There are few issues on which the United States is more diplomatically isolated from the rest of the world than climate change. President Trump’s hostility to renewable energy, which he clearly broadcast in his speech at the United Nations General Assembly, is at odds with the rapid construction of wind farms, solar arrays and other renewable energy sources in a range of countries. The construction boom includes even oil-producing giants like Saudi Arabia, which is adding solar capacity at a rapid clip.

Do we care? Does Trump care? If the other nations want to mortgage their future on this scam, have at it. If the Elites in other countries want to use this to initiate authoritarianism, real, that’s on them. None of those Elites at the UN nor their staffs are practicing what they preach.

At Wednesday’s climate summit, 121 countries were scheduled to deliver a message very different from Mr. Trump’s, pledging to rein in global emissions not only for the sake of trying to slow catastrophic global warming but because renewables are getting cheaper faster than was previously thought. In some cases, renewables now produce electricity more affordably than plants that burn fossil fuels, bolstering the argument made by some countries that solar and wind can help with economic growth while providing energy security by limiting reliance on imports of fuels like coal, oil or gas.

Can they start by making their leaders take trains and sailing ships back to their home companies?
