St. Greta Of Stockholm Says She Wouldn’t Have Wasted Time On Trump

This makes the Trump haters very happy

I wouldn’t have wasted my time on Trump, says Greta Thunberg

Teenage climate change activist Greta Thunberg said on Monday that talking to U.S. President Donald Trump at a United Nations summit on global warming would have been a waste of time since he would not have paid any attention.

In an interview with BBC radio’s Today program, for which she was the guest editor on Monday, Thunberg also said she regarded personal attacks on her as funny and that she hoped to go back to having a normal life.

A video of the 16-year-old Swedish campaigner giving Trump what media described as a “death stare” at a U.N. climate summit in New York in September went viral on social media. Trump has questioned climate science and is pulling the United States out of the 2015 Paris Agrement on global warming.

Asked what she would have said to the president if they had spoken, Thunberg said: “Honestly, I don’t think I would have said anything because obviously he’s not listening to scientists and experts, so why would he listen to me?

“So I probably wouldn’t have said anything, I wouldn’t have wasted my time,” she said.

So, let’s say you have a chance to talk to Bernie, Elizabeth, Mayor Pete, Sheriff Joe, etc. Or Putin, Maduro, other hardcore world leaders in something. Do you say “nah, they won’t listen”? Or, perhaps talk with them and attempt to get them to change their minds? Because that’s what adults do. They talk. There may be no meeting of the minds, no one’s minds may be changed in the least, but, is it worth the effort? Of course. St. Greta could have attempted to sway Trump, even if it was in a minor way. Perhaps she could have gotten Trump to back more research into alternative energy sources. Something. But, she’s a spoiled brat who has been brainwashed into the Cult.

Good Grief: Fireworks Sales Slump In Germany On ‘Climate Change’ Fears

How soon till the German government bans fireworks, much like beach bonfires have been banned in many areas in the People’s Republik Of California?

German fireworks sales fizzle on climate anxiety

Pyrotechnic-mad Germany loves to see in the New Year with a bang but concerns about climate change have prompted several major retailers to take fireworks off the shelves this year, local media said Friday.

“The fireworks last for an hour, but we want to protect animals and have clean air 365 days a year,” said Uli Budnik, who runs several REWE supermarkets in the Dortmund area that have stopped selling fireworks.

One of the country’s main DIY chains, Hornbach, last month announced it was too late to stop this year’s order but that it would ban pyrotechnics from 2020.

Rival chain Bauhaus said it would be rethinking its fireworks offerings next year “in view of the environment”, while franchise owners of a string of Edeka supermarkets have already removed them from their stores.

Environmentalists have cheered the trend, which would have once been unthinkable in a country where revellers famously fire off huge amounts of pyrotechnics from their lawns and balconies every New Year’s Eve.

It caps a year marked by heightened climate awareness following massive “Fridays for Future” demonstrations and a summer of record-high temperatures and severe droughts.

But, what does this all have to do with anthropogenic climate change?

Germany’s fireworks festivities release some 5,000 tonnes of fine particulate matter into the air on a single night — equivalent to about two months of road traffic, according to federal environment agency UBA.

Fine dust particulate matter is a major contributor to air pollution and is harmful to both human and animal health.

So, fireworks can have a negative effect on health and the environment: what the heck does this have to do with climate? It’s like they just throw in ‘climate change’ for the hell of it. Or because they are cult disciples, who have to link everything to their cult.

Washington Post Seems Surprised That Anti-Jew Incidents Are Rising Across U.S.

And by “U.S.”, they are mostly occurring in areas controlled by the Democratic Party

Acts of anti-Semitism are on the rise around the country, leaving Jewish community rattled

Hours after a knife-wielding man barged into a Hannukah party in a New York suburb, stabbing five people, top officials condemned the crime as part of a disturbing trend. New York Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo called it “domestic terrorism,” linking it to the recent spate of violence against Jewish people in New York.

Anti-Semitic attacks are on the rise around the country, leaving members of the Jewish community feeling frightened and unsafe. In New York City, anti-Semitic crimes have jumped 21 percent in the past year. According to the Anti-Defamation League, there were 1,879 incidents of anti-Semitism in the United States in 2018, including more than 1,000 instances of harassment. The 2019 figures are expected to meet or exceed that number.

“This is a national phenomenon that we are seeing and it’s frightening and it’s disturbing,” Cuomo said at a news conference Sunday. “If anyone thinks that something poisonous is not going on in this country, then they’re in denial.”

What could be driving this?

Experts say anti-Semitic violence has been rising for years. In 2018, a gunman stormed Pittsburgh’s Tree of Life synagogue, killing 11 congregants, and wounding six others. It was the deadliest anti-Semitic attack in the history of the United States.

Last April, during the observance of Passover, a gunman killed a Jewish worshiper at a Poway, Calif., house of worship and injured three others.

And a string of attacks in recent weeks has left the Jewish community in the New York area particularly unsettled.

This month, David Anderson and Francine Graham went on a violent rampage at a kosher supermarket in Jersey City, New Jersey, killing three people inside the store. The pair have been linked to the Black Hebrew Israelites, a hate group that traffics in anti-Semitic tropes. Authorities said they also posted anti-Semitic and anti-police screeds online.

There are many more incidents listed, and not one occurred in an area run by Republicans. Of course, the WashPost includes Bill De Blasio and Elizabeth Warren blaming Trump for this rise of hate, because that’s all they have. They fail to look inside, and realize that the Democratic Party base has been pushing anti-Israel policies while supporting Palestinian terrorists for decades. They have backed the BDS (boycott, divestment, sanctions) movement, which is simply a movement to destroy Israel and is purely anti-Jew. The anti-Israel and BDS movements have turned the supporters into Jew haters over time, because that was the point.

College campuses, run by Democrat voters, were and still are breeding grounds for the anti-Israel/Jew and pro-Palestinian/terrorist beliefs, especially in areas like California and New York. The Women’s March was essentially run by Jew haters. Bernie Sanders has an Israel and Jew hater advising him in Linda Sarsour. You have several federally elected representatives, most notably Rashida Tlaib and Ilhan Omar, who are purely Israel and Jew haters, and the party really doesn’t do anything about it. As Dov Fischer notes

The initial outrage felt among Democrat leaders when Omar and Tlaib tweeted Nazi tropes is no more. The turning point came when the Democrats prepared to condemn anti-Semitism within their ranks, then learned that they could not pass such a resolution, that the Old Timers had lost control of the ship, that the new trope driving discrete small but influential primary voting blocs is that Israel and Jews do not fit into the world of contemporary Intersectionality. Rather, as the vile Jew-haters who lead “The Women’s March” have demonstrated, Israel-hatred and Jew-hatred is cool.

The Left has adopted hatred of Israel as a new sacrament. In a world where tyrants persecute in Iran, North Korea, China, Venezuela, Cuba, Saudi Arabia — indeed, the entire Arab and African Muslim world that desecrates and burns churches by the thousands — it is Israel, tiny democratic Israel, alone that must be boycotted and sanctioned. These are the Left’s new targets. Hitler made it un-cool to say “I hate Jews,” so they say “I hate Zionists.” Just as they denominate all non-Jewish political opponents who are reasonable conservatives as “racists” or guilty of “White privilege.”

That full article is well worth the read. This doesn’t mean that all Democrats are Israel and Jew haters: they aren’t. But, the base certainly is, and the Jew and Israel hatred is spread out through the party faithful.

2019’s Biggest Pop Culture Trend Was Climate Anxiety Or Something

Calling it pop culture is exactly right, just like the pop culture of pet rocks

2019’s biggest pop-culture trend was climate anxiety

Alright folks, I’m calling it: 2019 was officially the year the climate crisis went mainstream. Think about it. No longer is mention of the warming atmosphere, melting ice sheets, and acidifying oceans — along with the resulting human suffering — limited to the “environment” section of the newspaper. It’s not a niche worry for small pockets of concerned citizens.

Instead, the planetary crisis came up in movies, songs, and books meant for widespread consumption — a bar that many of them actually met. And for once, the subject got some major airtime from the Democratic presidential candidates. Given the changing climate’s potential to reshape every aspect of human life on Earth, it makes sense that it’s starting to get mentioned in nearly every cultural sphere.

Why now? Concern about the crisis has been building for decades, and the combined efforts of activists and scientists around the world surely had something to do with that. You might also point to the uptick of visible, dramatic consequences, like record-breaking heat waves, wildfires, and floods. Or the culture-setting power of young people, who literally made “dying of climate change” into a TikTok meme.

It’s probably all of those things! But the “why” matters a lot less than the “what” — and climate anxiety definitely blew up in 2019, in everything from pop hits to the Impossible Whopper. (snip)

But there was no lack of climate change themes in some of the popular TV shows that filled the Game of Thrones–shaped hole in our lives. Season 2 of HBO’s Big Little Lies spent an entire episode on the subject, as Renata and Madeline struggled to talk to their kids about the crisis. And the final season of The Affair jumped 30-plus years into the future to a climate change–stricken Montauk (writer and producer Sarah Treem describes the environment as being like “a character itself”).

The article mentions Hotcoldwetdry showing up on TV, in books, “music” (gotta put it in quotes, because it’s really just computer created noise with autotuned lyrics), celebs (no mention of their private jets and yachts), and movies…er, movie.

This year, we saw approximately 20,000 books about the Green New Deal, including On 🔥 by beloved Canadian Naomi Klein. [Editor’s note: OK, we’re exaggerating, but you should see the towering pile of GND-themed galley copies sent to Grist HQ for reviews.]

Well, that’s interesting, since the Democrats refuse to vote on it, and we’re 10 months in. Even AOC barely ever mentions it anymore. As for that Impossible Whopper? Who cares? People who eat meat aren’t going to ditch a regular Whopper for it. Regardless, these people are all nuts

United Nations Approves Of Internet “Cyber-Crime” Resolution That Could Restrict Freedom Of Speech

The United Nations has long out-lived its usefulness, being a hive of dictators and scum, who attempt to institute globalist controls on citizens reminiscent of the old Soviet Union and China, which are the two main nations behind this

U.N. Approves China-Backed Internet Convention, Alarming Rights Advocates

(AFP) — The United Nations on Friday approved a Russian-led bid that aims to create a new convention on cybercrime, alarming rights groups and Western powers that fear a bid to restrict online freedom.

The General Assembly approved the resolution sponsored by Russia and backed by China, which would set up a committee of international experts in 2020.

The panel will work to set up “a comprehensive international convention on countering the use of information and communications technologies for criminal purposes,” the resolution said.

The United States, European powers and rights groups fear that the language is code for legitimizing crackdowns on expression, with numerous countries defining criticism of the government as “criminal.”

Which means that Democrats here will certainly support this, due to their reverence of Government, never quite realizing what it means for their own lives.

China heavily restricts internet searches to avoid topics sensitive to its communist leadership, as well as news sites with critical coverage.

A number of countries have increasingly tried to turn off the internet, with India cutting off access in Kashmir in August after it stripped autonomy to the Muslim-majority region and Iran taking much of the country offline as it cracked down on protests in November.

“It is precisely our fear that (a new convention) would allow the codification at an international and global level of these types of controls that’s driving our opposition and our concerns about this resolution,” a US official said. (snip)

Human Rights Watch called the UN resolution’s list of sponsors “a rogue’s gallery of some of the earth’s most repressive governments.”

You can bet that nations like Venezuela, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Syria, Pakistan, and so forth approve of this. Many European nations are behind this, as well, as their beliefs in Progressivism (nice Fascism) increase. And it is a hell of a reason to never allow the Obama era Net Neutrality, which is anything but neutrality, to be instituted, as it grants the central government massive new powers and controls over the U.S. Internet.

LA Times Editorial Board Explains Just Why #NeverTrump Should Support Trump On ‘Climate Change’ And Energy

If #NeverTrump, and, of course, I’m refering to those who consider themselves conservatives/libertarians/Republicans, would sit back and look at the record rather than the personality, they’d be cheering

Editorial: President Trump’s very bad year on climate change hurts us all

A few weeks ago the world received the United Nations’ Emissions Gap Report 2019, which again laid out in jarring detail how much humans have heated up the atmosphere through carbon emissions from burning fossil fuels. Not only is the science incontrovertible, but the impacts already are playing out before our eyes, and it’s probably too late, given the fast-rising temperature and political realities, to fully corral the problem. But it’s also inarguable that the world must act anyway — quickly — if it is to avert climate change’s most damaging effects, and that we desperately need innovative, persuasive and courageous political leaders to show the way.

This is all interesting, since Los Angeles would collapse without fossil fuels. Anyhow

Yet over the past year, and in the face of these ever more dire reports and warnings about the crisis that confronts us, President Trump has blithely continued to push policies and regulatory rollbacks that will increase carbon and other greenhouse gas emissions. Another study released in November warned that despite the overwhelming evidence that the world needs to reduce its reliance on fossil fuels, humankind will in 10 years be producing twice as much coal, oil and natural gas as it can safely consume and still limit the most severe impacts from human-caused global warming. That is disastrously wrong-headed. Governments around the world should be pursuing policies that will significantly reduce production and consumption while investing to support faster innovations in creating, distributing and storing renewable energy. Instead, Trump’s policies are designed to further increase U.S. production of oil and natural gas as part of his effort to make the U.S. the dominant producer of energy in the world.

So what did the Trump administration do this year to exacerbate the situation? It eased restrictions on the drilling of oil and gas wells in some sensitive habitats and drastically expanded the amount of federal lands available for leases by the oil, gas and coal industries (as well as mineral mining, which creates a different set of problems by exposing sensitive land to degradation). As part of that expansion, it shrank the Bears Ears and Grand Staircase-Escalante national monuments in Utah and issued an executive order opening nearly all federal waters to offshore drilling (which the administration put on hold after legal setbacks). Trump loosened regulations limiting methane emissions at drilling sites. And after a Republican-led Congress in 2017 lifted the 35-year-old ban on drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, the administration moved this year to fast-track leases even as legal challenges work their way through the courts.

via GIFER

The Trump administration also this year finalized its rollback of the Obama administration’s Clean Power Plan, which would have further restricted greenhouse gas emissions from coal-fired power plants, and replaced it instead with the Affordable Clean Energy Rule, a dubiously named policy that would do the opposite of what it seems to promise. The new rule not only contributes to global warming but seeks to shore up a domestic coal industry already dying because of market forces. (Other forms of energy production are cheaper.) The administration also reversed the Obama administration’s rejection of permits for the controversial Keystone XL Pipeline that will increase the flow of tar sands oil from Alberta to U.S. refineries.

Looks like some excellent reasons to support Trump, eh?
