Liberal columnists call for Americans to ‘decolonize Thanksgiving,’ promote ‘Truthsgiving’
Several online publications and social media users are urging Americans to reconsider the Thanksgiving holiday while alleging the holiday is a symbol of “colonization” and “racism.”
“Let’s drop the lie of Thanksgiving and begin a Truthsgiving,” a social media post from The Nation read this week that linked to an article with the headline: “Should America Keep Celebrating Thanksgiving?”
In the article, author Sean Sherman, argues that Americans should “decolonize Thanksgiving.”
“For many Americans, the image of Thanksgiving is one of supposed unity: the gathering of ‘Pilgrims and Indians’ in a harmonious feast,” Sherman, a member of the Oglala Lakota Nation, explains. “But this version obscures the harsh truth, one steeped in colonialism, violence, and misrepresentation. By exploring the Indigenous perspective on Thanksgiving, we can not only discern some of the nuances of decolonization but gain a deeper understanding of American history.”
I wonder how many Modern Socialists read it and were like “yeah, you know, yeah, I’m down for that”? And then went to Thanksgiving dinner? Took that holiday pay day off? Remember, these are the same people who wined about a Native American on Land O Lakes butter and got her removed (and got Aunt Jemima removed from the syrup so hard they changed the name altogether). Perhaps they do not really like Indians, hence forcing the name change for the Redskins and Cleveland Indians, and going after the Braves, Chiefs, Seminoles, etc?
Sherman writes that Americans, in order to avoid the “tremendous distress to those of us who are still reeling from the trauma” of the Pilgrims landing in America, by promoting the “nutritional and culinary diversity” of Native American foods and “centering the Indigenous perspective and challenging the colonial narratives around the holiday.”
GTFO of here. Seriously? These people are wackadoodle enough to have trauma from something that happened in 1620?

In fairness, there are lots of older moonbats who think the same way. But will still take part in Thanksgiving.
Given that the driving motivation and the selling point itself behind leftism is envy, it’s no wonder these historically illiterate cretins seek to trash Thanksgiving year after year.
A little gratitude in these morons would start to solve a lot of their problems, after which they might stop causing so many for the rest of us.
So many on the left are just so miserable in their own lives that they feel it necessary to try to ruin things for other people.
“Truthsgiving”? How about this truth: were it not for the conquest, dispossession, forced relocations, and extermination of the Indians, probably none of us here today would be alive.
How about this one? I am alive today because 36,634 American soldiers gave their lives for me to be here.
What’s that? If it was not for the Korean War, the chances that my mother and father would have met in Tokyo in 1951 would have been virtually zero. My father was with the Army Corps of Engineers and my mother was a WAC working in General of the Army Douglas MacArthur’s headquarters.
Of course, there’s more. There were 407,316 American soldiers, sailors, airmen, and Marines who were killed in World War II, a war we entered only because Japan attacked us, and without our conquest of Japan, General MacArthur would not have had a headquarters in Tokyo at all.
According to my Dad, he was on a troop ship headed for the ground invasion of Japan in WWII. Hiroshima and Nagasaki made that unnecessary, so he ended up in Korea working logistics.
While we can appreciate the suffering of the Indians, it makes little sense to beat ones chest over events from centuries ago.

A good example would be Joe Scarborough yesterday on TV ranting and raving about how if trump is elected he’s gonna murder people and execute people and put people in prison and yet it seems the Democrats are the only ones who are trying to imprison their political enemies. Their ability to project their weaknesses and their fears on everybody else is amazing to watch. What’s even more amazing is they don’t even realize it.

If you don’t protect what belongs to you sooner or later it belongs to someone else that includes everything you own that includes our country.
