Gov. Gavin Newsom Flames Sen. Ron Johnson’s Climate Crisis Spin With Just 8 Words
Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) attempted to put a positive spin on global warming and California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) wasn’t there for it.
During Wednesday’s Senate Budget Committee hearing on health care costs associated with the climate crisis, Johnson tried to argue that projected rising temperatures would benefit the United States and Wisconsin because fewer people would die from the cold.
“In terms of excess deaths, a warming globe is actually beneficial,” Johnson told University of Chicago economics professor Michael Greenstone, citing Greenstone’s research that suggests cold areas will see reduced mortality but warm areas will see a major increase.
It’s a hell of a lot better than going back into a Holocene cool period (which will happen eventually)

Every single wildfire in California has been shown to be due to incompetence or being set intentionally or unintentionally. Not because it is 1.5 degrees F higher than it was back in 1850. If Gavin believes the slight warming is the fault of Mankind then why hasn’t he stopped using fossil fuels himself? And banned all his people from using them? He could ban all government employees from taking fossil fueled travel. Put up solar panels and wind turbines at the governor’s mansion.
But, remember, Doing Something about ‘climate change’ is always about forcing you to do something, not those who push this the hardest.

Trach why not use a more understandable time frame like your own life span. In the last 55 years the temp increase been .25 degrees per decade about twice the rate of the time frame you cite. In your pitifully short life the temps have gone up 1.3F This may not seem like much to you, but remember it wiped out lobster larva survival and lobster harvest in NJ. This has given NJ the temps that were typical in DC 50 years ago, in your life span.
Decarbonization is happening and it’s rate is accelerating. The last coal plant came on line 10 years ago. The average age of a coal fired plant is 45 years old, they are ready to die from old age.
Every day we read if new advances in electric generation and storage density and cost. Lithium is becoming obsolete, cobalt unnecessary (Teach will be willing to subsidize the list wages of the children in the Congo mining cobalt?)
You expect others, but not yourself, to lead 100% PC lives.
Teach if you really thought nuclear war was imminent, why are you not building a nuclear bunker and prepping for doomsday? If you really thought abortion was child murder, why weren’t you actively trying to stop it? Why do you continue to be a customer of Duke Power whose stated goal is to be carbon neutral ? Shouldn’t you be buying your own fossil fueled electric generator?

It’s hardly surprising that social conservatives have lower IQs than normal Americans, but only slightly, while recognizing the flaws in both the testing of IQ and the concept of IQ.
Some Republicans are just dumbasses, some are just evil, some are both. For example, Ted Cruz is not a dumbass but is evil. George W. Bush was dumb but not evil. Donald John Trump is both. Worse, DJT made evil dumbassery ‘cool’ for nuGOPhers, giving us MTG, Lorena Boebert, Jim Jordan, Kari Lake, and dozens of state level nuGOPhers.
The Earth is warming from CO2 humans added to the atmosphere. You deny it’s warming. You deny it’s caused by CO2. You deny anything can be done about it. You claim it’s a communist plot to weaken the U.S. (which, paradoxically, you claim is dominated by… communists!). Round and round it goes…

Senator Johnson spoke the truth-cold kills much more than warm. “You deny it’s caused by CO2”. You deny that there isn’t any empirical evidence that it is CO2
I was born in the late 50s and am from SoCal but left to the east coast in 96 due to business. California started it’s downward trend after Reagan left as Governor.
Reagan built the last reservoirs, had logging companies working in the forests to clear the dead trees and bad areas so people had jobs the companies provided taxes and fires were limited. Nuclear Power, Natural Gas, Coal Power, and Hydropower was provided during Reagan’s time. Since that time most Nuclear and all Coal Power has been eliminated. California is forced to import power from various states as they have doubled their population and are pushing Electric Vehicles.
The so called Climate Cold, then Climate Warming, that changed because they missed the dates again it now became Climate Change. The Elites that push this so heavily never change their lifestyles, which include living in large mansions on estates, driving in large gas guzzling vehicles, and flying in personal jets to resorts. The Elites views are for the peons but not for me.
