Secretary Of Navy Says Hotcoldwetdry Is Top Priority

Continuing the them of climate cultists ruining the U.S. military today

Navy secretary cited climate change as top priority as Biden proposes shrinking the fleet

Secretary of the Navy Carlos Del Toro said he sees fighting climate change as a top priority for the Navy as the Biden administration proposes shrinking the fleet by two ships and worries grow about how the U.S. Navy stacks up to China’s.

“As the Secretary of the Navy, I can tell you that I have made climate one of my top priorities since the first day I came into office,” Del Toro said March 1 in remarks at the University of the Bahamas.

Del Toro said he met with Bahamas Prime Minister Philip Davis during his visit and spoke “at length” with him about the climate crisis and focused the bulk of his remarks on climate.

How did he get Nassau, Bahamas? Did he take a sailing ship from D.C.?

“The U.S. Navy and Marine Corps team has been working on climate and energy security for a long time,” he said. “And we are accelerating and broadening those efforts.”

“We view the climate crisis much the same way as damage control efforts on a stricken ship. This is an all-hands-on-deck moment,” he added. (snip)

As the Navy budget was being prepped for release, Del Toro was stressing the importance of using the Navy to fight climate change in the Bahamas and noting the many approaching climate-related events in which the Navy will participate.

“There is not a trade-off between addressing climate security and our core mission of being the most capable and ready Navy-Marine Corps team,” he said. “The exact opposite is true. Embracing climate-focused technologies and adopting a climate-informed posture strengthens our capability to stand by our partners and allies.”

Yeah, there is. It will weaken our military, and make them less able to project power and defend the U.S., especially in light of China heavily expanding their military might, including their Navy. If you are not focused on that, you’re failing. Of course, Doing Something about ‘climate change’ doesn’t mean Del Toro is going to give up his own big carbon footprint and taxpayer funded fossil fueled travel.

Does Mr Teach have a reason to feel the US military is not up to its tasks?

    I didn’t think so.

Anyway, the nuConservative movement wants our military to do less, not more.

Conservatives didn’t want Blacks to serve, then they didn’t want women, then gays or trans… Now nuCons are apoplectic that our military recognizes global warming, as does the rest of the world.

    • James Lewis says:

      Dear Elwood:

You never were in the Navy, or any other branch.

So I understand that you are very willing to let someone else fight for you.

And trust me. Those of us who have served are very opposed to war. Especially a war in which we have no national interest.

So until you go to Ukraine and actually see, smell and feel what battle is like I ask you shut your mouth about the military.

      • Elwood P. Dowd says:

Thank you for your service. In what war did you see combat?

Do you agree with Mr Teach that the US military is subpar because of Blacks, women, gays or trans people? Do you agree that recognizing the reality of global warming harms our military?

Are you suggesting that only veterans and current military personnel decide our military policies?

        • drowningpuppies says:

Rimjob: In what war did you see combat?

First, maybe Rimjob can explain why he lied about joining the Army during the, you know, Vietnam War? In ’71 right? https://www.thepiratescove.us/wp-content/plugins/wp-monalisa/icons/wpml_unsure.gif
          Thanks, dumbass.

          Dear Elwood:

All you need to know is that I served. You did not.

The military I served in cared about ability.

I am stating that perfect assholes should not talk about a subject they know nothing about. That includes you.

On a broader note I, and many veterans I know, support Universal Military Training. One of the best benefits it brings is that it produces a force made up of a mixture of people thus preventing the formation of a totally separate military group and the people who use it, not to protect the country, but for their own purposes.

Tell me. Do you understand what, and why, Eisenhower meant and said??

          • Elwood P. Dowd says:

Thank you for your service. But you’re being silly.

Claiming that American citizens who pay nearly 1/3 or their federal taxes for the military should have no say in it makes no sense.

The last US president to serve in the military (kind of) was George W. Bush and we can all agree that as President he misused our forces as bad as did LBJ. Although FDR was Asst Sec of Navy during WWI, he never served, but still defeated the Nazis and the Japanese in WWII.

Back to the point… as a military man, do you also feel the US military is no longer up to the task of defending the US? I’ll defer to your military genius.

  2. Jl says:

Correct pronouns and now climate change-2 musts for a kick-ass military

  3. James Lewis says:

    Dear Elwood:

I didn’t say, “American citizens who pay nearly 1/3 or their federal taxes for the military should have no say in it makes no sense.”

I said, “I am stating that perfect assholes should not talk about a subject they know nothing about. That includes you”

Neither you or I have any knowledge of the capability of our military.

My concern is that the focus on being “woke” will reduce training and pollute leadership. See SVB and other large organizations that were ran by people who decided politics was more important than
required results in obtaining the objectives,

    • Elwood P. Dowd says:

You and Teach are concerned that the US Navy acknowledging the reality of global warming is a threat to US security.

Let me suggest that you and Mr Teach consider global warming a scam.

Can you explain what YOU mean by ‘woke’?

      • Jl says:

“The reality that global warming is a threat to US security”. Actually, it an assumption, not “reality”.

      • James Lewis says:

        Dear Elwood:

If you are so uninformed as to not know the meaning of “woke” in the context of this thread then you are not worth even answering.

If you are lying to receive attention then I understand. It is what children and certain members of the Left do. (Google Jussie Smollett.)

        • Elwood P. Dowd says:

I asked what YOU thought ‘woke’ meant. So, you don’t know. Got it.

Most doctrinaire nuCons call anything they disagree with, ‘woke’.

Was it ‘woke’ when Lincoln freed the slaves, when women were permitted to vote, when Blacks and women were able to serve in the military, same-sex marriage, teaching evolution, teaching history…

          • James Lewis says:

            Dear Elwood:

If you are so uninformed as to not know the meaning of “woke” in the context of this thread then you are not worth even answering.

Claiming that good changes are the same as Drag Queen parties for children is like putting perfume on a skunk.

  4. James Lewis says:

    Dear Elwood:

“The last US president to serve in the military (kind of) was George W. Bush and we can all agree that as President he misused our forces as bad as did LBJ.”

I object to calling National Guard service “kind of.”

Bush joined the Texas Air National Guard because they had slots and his father was a pilot. TANG had slots because air national guard organizations and reserve unit were being deployed to Vietnam. Ground units not so much so slots in them were very rare. He was trained on and flew the F-102 which was known as a “Widow Maker” because it was tricky to land. The 102 was an Interceptor, a class of aircraft designed to repel attacking aircraft. As the war progressed and the US established air superiority Interceptors were not needed. Bush left TANG a bit early because the 102 was being replaced with the F-106. To be trained and retained a pilot had to have a certain amount of service time left. If he did not he had to extend. Bush did not and chose not to.

Was Bush a hero? No more so than others. But he did his job as required. You? You did nothing except blather.

    No charge for the education.

    • Elwood P. Dowd says:

As I’ve said before, we benefit as much from your ‘educations’ as we pay for it.

It sounds as if you consider Americans who are not veterans to be second class American citizens. That’s a lot of Americans!! They have no right to express their opinions on the military. That’s just silly.

The ‘kind of’ was to insult GW Bush’s lackadaisical time in the Guard, not to insult the Guard itself.

BTW, did you join or were you drafted?

      • drowningpuppies says:

Still mouthing off about other’s service records?
BTW Rimjob, no one here can take you seriously after you lied about joining the Army back during the Vietnam War.
        Funny thing that…

        Dear Elwood:

I served. You did not. That’s all you need to know.

        Second class? No.

Blathering about what you have no knowledge about? Please be quite.

Bush served. You did not. Your complaint is insulting to all concerned and totally inaccurate. IOW, you don’t know shit.

        • Elwood P. Dowd says:

The origin of your ire is that:

I asked Mr Teach if he thought the US military wasn’t up to defending the US.

          and pointed out that:

American conservatives opposed Blacks, women, gays and trans in the military and now are upset that the Navy recognizes the reality of global warming.

You find these are not worth considering since they came from a civilian. I think you are just uncomfortable with the questions and comments.

Oh, and thank you for your service. My brother-in-law was a Dustoff pilot in Vietnam and while on a rescue mission in 1972 was killed by small arms fire. He had volunteered to go in to pick up men pinned down by the enemy. He received the Distinguished Service Cross and Silver Star.

          • drowningpuppies says:

Yet Rimjob dishonors the dead hero by lying himself joining the Army during the Vietnam War?
            Ya know in ’71 right?

            Dear Elwood:

I give honor and respect to your brother-in-law. It doesn’t rub off on you. Shame on you for trying to use his sacrifice.

As I pointed out the military reflected society. But since you have no military experience you fail to understand that.

Time spent on the fake man made global warming hoax takes resources away from the real purpose of the military.

That will cost us lives when the rubber hits the road.

  5. Elwood P. Dowd says:

China, a nuclear power, is upset that the US Navy has an increased presence in the Pacific.

Should we back off since China objects?

    • James Lewis says:

      Dear Elwood:

China is a nuclear power because the Left had spies that sold out.

Kinda like the Biden Crime Family.

China’s missiles have greatly improved accuracy because the Clinton administration allowed technology to be sold to them.

China’s actions are demonstrably not in our national interest.

We should closely monitor China and Russia along with Iran and other Islamic organizations.

The problem is that Russia also has problems with Islamic groups.

Like WWII they would have made good partners against our joint enemies.

Instead we have opened the door for a China-Russia partnership.

Truly when it comes to foreign policy “Stupid Is As Stupid Does” applies to Biden’s DOS.

  6. Professor Hale says:

SecNav says Climate change is a threat because that is how DoD justifies spending money on something. The SECNAV is a political appointee and a full member of the Biden administration. It is fully expected that he will say things that support the political agenda of the Biden Administration, even if that agenda is dismantling the Navy. The SECNAV saying something doesn’t make it true. It just makes it policy to say so.
