Miami Beach Takes Action to Combat Climate Change with Innovative Seawall Project

In the face of rising sea levels and increasing frequency of extreme weather events, Miami Beach has taken a bold step to protect its residents and infrastructure from the impacts of climate change. The city is investing in an innovative seawall project that will not only offer protection against flooding but also incorporate sustainable and eco-friendly features.

The project, which is being spearheaded by the Miami Beach Public Works Department, is set to cover a 2.2-mile stretch of coastline and is expected to cost $500 million. It will replace the existing seawall, which has been in place since the 1920s and is no longer capable of withstanding the increasingly severe storms and high tides brought about by climate change.

First off, the closest stations, Vaca Key and Virginia Key, show 1.30 and .98 feet per 100 years. That Virginia Key goes back to 1931, and shows zero acceleration. Second, Miami Beach is a vacation town, which requires people take lots of fossil fueled travel to get there and get around, not too mention all the cruise ships. Will they ban fossil fuels?

‘Clouds of disinformation and climate change’

Cloud is the term used for remote storage of images, files and other stuff in this digital age.

Every smartphone is connected to its cloud, just as midges follow scotsmen in summer. Maybe it is an acronym, CLOUD – Calamitous Load Of Unexpected Doom? Enormous amounts of energy are required to keep all this information instantly available, with lots of cooling because energy generates heat. We are all fooled into believing smartphones and computers have no carbon footprint, but in reality they seriously add to global warming. (snip to the end, especially since the word “influence” is mentioned)

We should avoid being confused or caught up in these trends. Global warming remains an issue; cattle exhale methane; data hub clouds are worse!

The piece does mention, briefly, that social media is bad for people’s mental health, but, it is worse for anthropogenic global warming, so, all you youts need to stop using it if you believe in climate doom.

6 scholars explain what a real climate solution is

Scientists say there’s a lot we can still do to slow the speed of climate change. But when it comes to “climate solutions”, some are real, and some aren’t, says Naomi Oreskes, historian of science at Harvard University. “This space has become really muddied,” she says. (WT-she’s a far left, Progressive (nice fascim) loon who wants to do away with capitalism, for one thing)

So how does someone figure out what’s legit? We asked six climate scholars for the questions they ask themselves whenever they come across something claiming to be a climate solution.

It may sound basic, but one big way to address climate change is to reduce the main human activity that caused it in the first place: burning fossil fuels.

Scientists say that means ultimately transitioning away from oil, coal and gas and becoming more energy efficient. We already have a lot of the technology we need to make this transition, like solar, wind, and batteries, Oreskes says.

I’ll write it yet again: if fossil fuels are so bad, why is it that the majority of people who believe in climate doom are not giving up their own use of fossil fuels?

We’ve had enough of the left’s guilt-tripping anyone who drives a gasoline-powered car. If anyone should be ashamed, it is those who are smugly plugging in their cars each night.

They are the ones responsible for raping the planet, poisoning entire communities, enriching genocidal tyrants, and creating a massive hazmat problem while doing nothing to stop “climate change.”

I’ll write it yet again: if government spending is so bad, why is it that the majority of people who believe that government spending is bad are not giving up their own use of government funds??

A son lives up in Massachusetts by Plymouth Rock now. Though most of the rock was shipped away for exhibition, some is still there. Still able to step out of a boat and onto the rock. IOWs, the rock is not underwater and the ocean must not be rising.

I’ll write it again: If your government Masters keep getting exposed as liars, why do you keep repeating their lies?
Do your own research; think for yourself and you may end up being Right.

Everyone seems to enjoy you constantly proving just what a dumbfuck you really are. Again.

      Dear Elwood:

Do you have some proof of your claim????

      • Elwood P. Dowd says:

Which claim troubles you? That conservatives are hypocrites for sucking up government money while whining about government spending?

        • James Lewis says:

          Dear Elwood:

So you don’t have any proof. In fact, it appears that you lie.

Top tennis player Novak Djokovic forced to withdraw from the Indian Wells tennis tournament because the Brandon administration refuses to let the unvaccinated into the country. However, grandpa Brandon thought it was ok to let in over 2 million illegals into the country in 2022 (and counting) with no vaccination status. This must be what they call “following the science”.

Amazing that people can get emotions running high, especially over something for which there is no resolution. Stopping fossil fuel use in the US would do nothing. CO2 might be retaining energy in the lab, but no scientific evidence in reality, only correlation which means zero.

Yes, we might have climate change, but it is what the earth experiences and has been going on for 20,000 years.

If a solution to a problem is a tax and more government, then there is no solution and likely no problem.

Do you have an yernative theory to present as to why the temps are rising at an increasing rate if change?
    If so please tell us.
Fossil fuel use can not be ended immediately . However, the carbon footprint if Americans has declined about 25% since 2005. gasoline consumption seems to have also peaked, that is maybe why no one wants to build new refineries or even upgrade old ones. Trump allowed the sale of the largest US refinery to be sold to his friends and golf partners, the Saudis. Like 5 buck gas ?
The US exports about half of gas refined here. If you don’t want to pay 5 bucks for gas, it gets exported to the highest paying customers.americans get no discount for oil pumped or refined here. Multi national companies don’t favor Americans
Profits and shareholder value are what counts

      Gosh Hairy,
You keep saying the same things over and over. It’s as if no one is paying attention to you so you keep repeating it hoping we are hearing it for the first time. Like my old attention-seeking grandma would keep retelling the same old family stories to everyone who had already heard them.
