Brandon Puts Strict Climate Cult Mandates On Pentagon

He really is doing all he can to neuter the U.S. military, eh?

The Pentagon Marches Off to Climate War.

The war in Ukraine is draining U.S. arms stockpiles while geopolitical risks grow. Yet the Biden Administration is worried about—you can’t make this up—the climate impact of U.S. weapons and wants to impose costly green mandates on federal contractors.

A little-noticed rule-making proposed by the Department of Defense, NASA and the General Services Administration last month would require federal contractors to disclose and reduce their CO2 emissions as well as climate financial risks. The rule would cover 5,766 contractors that have received at least $7.5 million from the feds in the prior year.

For example, weapons manufacturers would have to quantify and disclose the amount of CO2 generated from their own facilities; manufacturers that produce steel, computer chips and motors used in their weapons; propellants and fuel; and even munition storage areas. It’s unclear if CO2 emissions will influence procurement decisions.

Large contractors would also have to publish an annual climate disclosure and develop “science-based targets” to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in alignment with the goals of the 2015 Paris agreement. That means contractors will have to aim to zero out emissions and possibly require their contractors to do so.

Will Lockheed Martin and Raytheon Technologies have to redesign weapons systems and aircraft to be powered by lithium-ion batteries? China mines and processes the critical minerals used in batteries and other green technologies that will be required to meet these “science-based targets.”

The proposed rule would also apply to non-defense contractors, including pharmaceutical, shipping and tech companies, though it curiously exempts universities, nonprofit research institutions and state and local governments.

What this will do is increase the cost of everything made and provided to the military, as well as slowing down procurement, all for an imaginary problem. China, Iran, Russia, North Korea, etc, must be loving this, as it makes our military less and less competitive.

Ah, the old and worthless “CO2 causes climate change” argument.

Would this apply to defense contractors producing war materiel directly for Ukraine, or doesn’t that count?

Disclosure is just an administrative expense, one which will cost the company money, and have to be included in their bids for contracts, but requiring them to reduce their CO2 emissions could get very expensive, as equipment will have to be re-engineered and retooled.

This is the problem with ‘progressives’: they just don’t think things through! Somehow it never occurs to them that what they are demanding will cost more money, and for nothing at all.

Are there any militaries more effective than the US?

I don’t know, do you? You can speculate all you want but when was the last time our military was effective enough to win a war? Since 1945 the US has initiated 201 armed conflicts (81% of the total of the world). How many victories can you name, dowd?

The US military has engaged in five major wars Korea, Vietnam, the Gulf War, Iraq and Afghanistan and only the Gulf War of 1991 is classif9ied as any sort of success. Note I didn’t say victory, just success.

Apparently dowd thinks an effective military is one that wages war for 13 years then have a coward commie pedo pull out and leave terrorists $100 billion in arms.

Our military reflects the moral void of our people like dowd. Faggots, perverts, pedophiles, criminals, corrupt democommies, marxists and nazis control both our government and military. America has been turned into a banana republic with illegal elections, fake ballots, arresting citizens for protesting, racist anti White policies, bigoted anti Christian hate and morons like pedo, Fensterman, AOC and Waters running the show.

We are still short 16,000 small businesses crushed by the government because of a flu yet the left keeps letting in illegal criminals, terrorists and the masses of diseased third worlders as they prepare to unleash thousands of IRS agents on American small businessmen in 2023.

        Ebeneezer,

You’re without question the most bitter little man extant. Cheer up!

Life can’t be THAT bad for you. You have a boat and girlfriends!

Although the Saudis attacked America in 2001, and the US mistakenly invaded Iraq and Afghanistan in response, that was a political civilian failure, not a military failure.

The proof of the pudding is in the tasting. No nation on Earth has attacked the US in forever.

That’s not to say that our military and defense budget are above criticism, but permitting gay and trans personnel is not a big problem.

  5. Professor Hale says:

The US military is at least twice as large as it needs to be for any rational purpose. But since they won’t lift a finger to stop an actual invasion of the USA, what good are they? May as well not have one at all. Costa rica doesn’t have an army and they do just fine.
