Media Seems Rather Upset Over “Whataboutism” From Trump’s Stupid Dinner With Nick Fuentes

It is possible that two things can be true. Trump can be wrong, and Democrats can be wrong. It’s just that the Credentialed Media ignores the Democrat faux pas/covers for them. How many are covering the case of non-binary wackjob in charge of disposing of America’s nuclear material Sam Brinton stealing a suitcase from an airport (this story is insane)? They sure covered him when he got the job

Trump’s dinner with antisemites? Some Republicans attempt to change the topic

In the wake of former President Donald Trump’s dinner with Ye, the rapper formerly known as Kanye West, and notorious Holocaust denier and white supremacist Nick Fuentes, some Republican lawmakers have engaged in “whataboutism,” the practice of responding to one allegation with a counter-accusation on a different issue.

But those attempts to shift the conversation largely miss some important context.

Notably, Trump has not apologized for the meeting or criticized the antisemitic views of the guests he dined with at Mar-a-Lago. West’s recent antisemitic statements have cost him millions of dollars in endorsements and other business deals. Fuentes, a fan of Adolf Hitler, has compared Jews killed in World War II in concentration camp ovens to cookies.

On Monday, Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, responded to the White House condemnation of Trump’s meeting by pivoting to President Biden’s eulogy for Sen. Robert Byrd. Cruz pointed out that the late West Virginia senator had once been an organizer and member of the Ku Klux Klan.

Oh, but, see, Robert “Sheets” Byrd apologized (wink wink). Does anyone think the media would accept Trump apologizing? Or would they use that to further bash Trump? The Yahoo News piece has a photo of Ilhan Omar. Has she ever apologized for her Jew and Israel hating comments? How about for her “some people did something” on 9/11 comment (that Washington Post piece is attempting to cover for her).

In a Monday interview with CNN, Rep. James Comer, R-Ky., criticized Trump’s judgment for meeting with West and Fuentes, but he then sought to blame the media. He equated the antisemitic views of Fuentes with those of Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn.

“And I can shed some light on why Republicans don’t immediately respond to many in the media every time they’re offended by something Trump does, is because a lot of Republicans believe there’s a double standard in the media,” Comer said. “We have seen things that Ilhan Omar has said. We don’t get asked if we condemn that by the mainstream media.”

The media doesn’t condemn it. The cover for it. It doesn’t mean Trump was very wrong, he was.

Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., called Trump out for breaking bread with West and Fuentes, but accused the media of hypocrisy.

“No, the meeting was bad. He shouldn’t have done it,” Graham said. “But again, you know, there’s a double standard about this kind of stuff. And I don’t think it’ll matter in terms of his political future, but I do believe we need to watch who we meet with. We shouldn’t give oxygen to people who think this way.”

Graham likened Trump’s meeting with Fuentes to instances in which some Democratic lawmakers met with former Nation of Islam leader and unrepentant antisemite Louis Farrakhan.

Yes, it is a double standard. Trump was still wrong. And the whole story is attempting to say Trump was wrong and why are we even discussing these other things? Proving Graham’s point.

  1. Dana says:

It should be remembered that Donald Trump was the most Jewish-friendly President we’ve had in a long time. His daughter and son-in-law are Jewish, he took up a more strongly pro-Israel position in foreign policy, moving our embassy to Jerusalem, being more pro-Israel in the pathetic “peace” talks with the Palestinians, and withdrawing from the Iranian nuclear deal.

There are a few anti-Semites in every party, but there are far, far, far more of them on the left than the right these days.

    • Elwood P. Dowd says:

Mr Dana conflates anti-Semitism with opposing ANY policy of Israel.

There is no way of knowing if there are far, far, far more anti-Semites on the left than the right.

The right loves Israel but hates Jews. Recall it was right-wing riot where we heard, “Jews Won’t Replace Us!!”

Anti-other is baked into right-wing DNA.

  2. L'Roy White says:

Funny how it’s okay for leftists to hate white men, Christians, conservatives, Republicans and a whole list of other non-knee bending Americans but some how others don’t have the right to hate Jews, blacks, pervs and Muslims.

Prejudice, bigotry and hate only works one way for leftists. Their way. Plus if Trump has dinner with some racist ass it’s a big deal yet the left was in bed with slavers and racists for its entire history.

    • Elwood P. Dowd says:

Mr White conflates hatred with criticism. Are white men, christians, conservatives and republicans being discriminated against? We all hate “pervs”, depending on what you mean – we mean child molesters, rapists, child pornographers, but not gays, lesbians or transgendered, unless they’ve committed crimes.

Jews, blacks and Muslims are victims of prejudice and hate crimes.

tRump is the favorite to be the nuGOP candidate in 2024. The Dems will not run a racist from 1850s.

Nick Fuentes is not just a racist ass. America is full of racist asses. Fuentes is a leader of a white supremacist movement.

      • drowningpuppies says:

        We all hate “pervs”…

Said Rimjob to his sexually abused grandson.

        Bwaha! Lolgf

      • L'Roy White says:

Nick Fuentes is not just a racist ass. America is full of racist asses. Fuentes is a leader of a white supremacist movement.

Melanne Tometi, Alicia Garza and Patrisse Cullors are the black supremacist leaders of the racist BLM marxist organization. They stole $90 million mostly taxpayers money and met with pedo joes people 40 times.

The Rainbow Coalition is a racist cadre of marxists, communists and anti white supremacists founded by Black Panther Fred Hampton. Again a friend of radical leftist anti American democommies to extort money from White American taxpayers.

Your history as democrats is not erased by your “new” view on race. Trying to blame your slavery, Jim crow and other anti black policies on Republicans won’t work any more. We blacks are wising up/. Sadly we should have 100 year ago.

You are correct, the conservative democrats were the racist slave owners but SO WERE THE LIBERAL DEMOCRATS! You were all haters and you still are. You just switched to hating White people because today there’s MORE MONEY IN IT!

        • Elwood P. Dowd says:

There is no evidence at all that BLM stole $90 million from taxpayers. You must be thinking of Trump Inc. Where are the $100s of millions he raised going, LOL?

BLM officials did meet with President Biden’s people. So?

Our point has always been not to erase history like conservatives always do. Washington and Jefferson were slave owners! LBJ was a racist. But the US has come a long way.

Anyway, the Civil Rights Act of 1964 passed the House and Senate, but not on a party line vote, but on regional vote!

          The House of Representatives:
          Northern: 281 yea – 32 nay
          Southern: 8 yea – 94 nay

          The Senate:
          Northern: 72 yea – 6 nay
          Southern: 1 yea – 21 nay

Southern Democrats voted against, northern Democrats voted for.

Moreton Rolleston, the owner of a motel in Atlanta, Georgia, said he should not be forced to serve black travelers, saying, “the fundamental question […] is whether or not Congress has the power to take away the liberty of an individual to run his business as he sees fit in the selection and choice of his customers”.

  3. H says:

    Mr White
Seems to have a low opinion of “leftists”
Are you implying that because I do not hate all the people you say leftists hate, that I am not a leftist? Should I be offended or appalled at that?
As far as Sen Byrd he apologized many times for his past (1930s) racism, and that was accepted by the NAACP.
No Mr L’Roy the Dems were not in bed with racism for their whole existence that is simply factually untrue. Remember that it was the liberals of BOTH. Parties (led by the Dems!) That pushed through the Civil Rights acts of the 60s that put an end to the Jim Crow Laws as well as the desegregation of the US military which was opposed by the conservatives of both parties .

    • James Lewis says:

      Dear H:

I am an old southern white man.

I was born, raised and lived in the south all most all of my life.

I heard the speeches. I saw the “White Only” signs. I watched George Wallace stand in the door. I watched Bull Connor sic the dogs.

And I watched the FBI descend on MS to stop the killing by white Democrats.

I watched Eisenhower send the army to Little Rock.

And I watched local school districts depleted of funds and students as the good Democrats fled to private schools leaving the school system and much of local politics in the hands of radicals.

      H. You are full of shit. From the draft riots in NYC during the Civil War to Wallace’s standing in the door the Democratic was and largely is racist.

So quit lying. Apologize and change parties.

      It isn’t too late.

      • Elwood P. Dowd says:

        Dear James,

You are full of shit. The Democratic Party WAS the party of conservative southern racists until the civil rights movement. At that time the Democratic racists became Republicans (or Dixiecrats).

So quit lying. Apologize and change parties. It isn’t too late.

Were you a Democrat or a Republican during the days of George Wallace and Bull Connor? A Republican, I hope. Did you become a Dem since the civil rights era?

        • david7134 says:

The Democrat party was the only party in the South. It was not until LBJ came along that the Republicans really got traction and took off. That was because LBJ was the most deplorable president until Obama and Biden. None of it had to do with race. You are on some bizarre guilt trip over being white, we aren’t. Also, we don’t discriminate against Islams. They are trying to kill us dumbass.

          • Elwood P. Dowd says:

Daffy typed: None of it (southern switch to GOP) had to do with race.

Up through FDR, Democratic presidents supported southern white supremacy to keep southerners voting for them. Truman, Kennedy and especially LBJ broke from the mold and pushed for civil rights for black Americans. But the southern democrats were ALSO conservative on taxes, military and social issues; so it was a mixed bag.

            from Matthew Iglesias

It’s true that the recent political success of the GOP has an enormous amount to do with the party’s success in the white south, but I think the evidence strongly suggests that conservative politicians get the votes of white southerners precisely because white southerners like conservative positions on taxes, moral values, and national security. Southern Democratic politicians of the Jim Crow era, after all, mostly took conservative stances on all of these issues. The weird thing about Jim Crow politics is that white southerners with conservative views on taxes, moral values, and national security would vote for Democratic presidential candidates who didn’t share their views. They did that as part of a strategy for maintaining white supremacy in the South.

Muslims in the US are not trying to kill you, dumbass.

          • drowningpuppies says:

Rimjob: LBJ broke from the mold and pushed for civil rights for black Americans.

“I’ll have them niggers voting Democratic for the next two hundred years. [Said to two governors regarding the Civil Rights Act of 1964, according to then-Air Force One steward Robert MacMillan]”

            ? Lyndon B. Johnson

            Bwaha! Lolgf

        • Dana says:

One would think that a Missourian would know a bit more about the South.

While Southern Democrats started voting for sensible people in presidential campaigns, they remained mostly Democrats until the older conservative Democrats started dying out and were replaced by their children and grandchildren, who began to register as Republicans.

I’d remind the socialist from St Louis that Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton carried several Southern states, Mr Carter all of them except Virginia in 1976. Both campaigned as moderates.

Here in the Bluegrass State, Democrats held the state House of Representatives up until the 2016 election.

          • L'Roy White says:

I’d like to remind them both (Elwood and H) that they are trying to conflate what were liberals then with todays progressives. Not even close dudes.

Today’s dems have been taken over by radical sexists, anti white racists and radical America haters as LG Brandon has pointed out about 100 times to no avail. They don’t just hate blacks any more, they hate all Americans.

The sam party that supported slavery, Jim Crow and lynching back then still supports prenatal murder, sexual deviancy and anti white racism today. Same hateful ideology, different targets.

Can’t teach the old immoral dogs any new tricks.

“Tis the times’ plague, when madmen lead the blind.” And you dowd are part of both the madmen and the blind.

(Yes, we blacks know Shakespeare, surprise!)

        • Jl says:

Total BS, J. Is the South much less racist than it used to be? Yes. What happened? It became more and more Republican

          • Dana says:

When I arrived in Mt Sterling, Kentucky, in March of my third grade year (1962), I entered a legally segregated elementary school. As I was about to enter the sixth grade year, the school system had a plan to integrate the school, over three years, four grades at a time.

That plan was interrupted when the black school mysteriously burned to the ground just before school started. The start of school was delayed for a week, as quick reorganization was needed, but after it happened, I don’t remember any problems. It was something that everyone knew had to come, so it’s not like it was a total shock. Perhaps some of the adults had problems about which I knew nothing, but I don’t remember any in-school problems.

The town was solidly Democratic, as was the entire state, but they were the conservative, sensible Democrats of the 1960s.

Ronald Reagan once said, “I didn’t leave the Democratic Party; the Democratic Party left me.” That’s what happened in the South, as the national Democrats moved further and further left, while Southerners remained solid, sensible, Christian people. They remained Democrats, because they had always been Democrats, but they were different from the national Democrats, and as they grew older and dies off, their kids started registering as Republicans.

The most segregated place I ever lived was not in Kentucky, but New Castle County, Delaware, home of Joe Biden. Our two most diverse overall but internally segregated large cities? Chicago and Philadelphia.

Do you really think that your comments have any influence? You are a nut job. All you do is throw out untruths that are clearly not the truth. And you do this in a forum we’re people are very intelligent and well informed. So why? What is your purpose. I have been here some time and can assure you that you have never swayed one person.

          Dear Elwood:

You wrote: “You are full of shit. The Democratic Party WAS the party of conservative southern racists until the civil rights movement. At that time the Democratic racists became Republicans (or Dixiecrats).”

The condition of my large intestine aside, your problem is a lack of information compounded by ignorance.

E.g. The MS last Republican Reconstruction governor was Adelbert Ames, 1/1874-3/1876. He was followed by an unbroken string of Democrat governors for 116 years, until 1/1992. Four out of the last 5 have been Republican.

In AL, it was 113 years of Democrats. SC was the same. TN was slightly more enlightened, electing two Republicans in 96 years. VA remained Republican free for 100 years

It is clear that the breakout occurred after Reagan’s election exposed the Democrats as racist hypocrites.

If you had any knowledge of local elections you would know that during this time winning the Democratic primary was considered a lock on becoming the next office holder. It was only until the 80’s that Republicans started to make inroads.

So, this tale of Democrats becoming Republicans during the start and during the civil rights struggles is just a myth. They were registered Democrats and remained registered Democrats.

And a little research will show that the Republicans who were elected had always been Republicans.

          No charge for the education.

          • L.G.Brandon!, L.G.Brandon! says:

david7134, as the great Ronaldus Maximus once said:

The trouble with our liberal friends is not that they’re ignorant; it’s just that they know so much that isn’t so

And that was BEFORE they became radical leftists!

dowd has tried often to appropriate that statement for himself. It won’t work. Just like they try and act like it wasn’t the democrats who were slaveholders it was the “evil conservatives”. Sorry dowd, the conservative Republicans in the 1800’s weren’t for slaves ONLY the democrats were. Conservative or liberal, they were the slavers and today they are the baby killers. In our history democrats have always been the party of human suffering and death.

Even today they advocate the mutilation of children to fulfil their demented lust for sexual deviancy and confusion. The modern democommies are just plain evil.

  4. James Lewis says:

    Dear Elwood:

You wrote: “Muslims in the US are not trying to kill you, dumbass.”

Well this what Muslim told Pew.

“A significant minority (21%) of Muslim Americans say there is a great deal (6%) or a fair amount (15%) of support for extremism in the Muslim American community.”

The good news is that only 21% want to harm us. The bad news that 21% want to harm us.

  5. L.G.Brandon!, L.G.Brandon! says:

There are about 5 million Muslims in the US. If “only” 21% want to harm us (which is a lie-read the Koran) that means we have over 1 million Muslim terrorists here. Now, you saw what 21 did in 2001. That’s 0.002% of what’s here now. Do the math denier!

The entire religion/government of Islam is built around the conversion of the entire world to Islam, it’s enslavement or it’s killing. Again, read the Koran.

Dowd, there is nothing worse that a big mouth who is ignorant of the facts. You have nothing good to say about Christianity which preaches Love at it’s core and nothing bad to say about Islam which teaches nothing but hate and intolerance at it’s.

    Your ignorance is overwhelming.
