Pelosi Wants To Use Buffalo Shooting To Reign In Free Speech

Of course the Democrats are calling for new gun control

Pelosi says Senate remains hurdle in passing gun bill after Buffalo shooting

Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) on Sunday said the Senate remains a hurdle in passing gun legislation after a gunman opened fire in New York one day earlier, killing 10 people and injuring three others.

Asked by co-anchor Dana Bash on CNN’s “State of the Union” if she, President Biden and other Democrats should make gun measures a bigger priority, Pelosi said “it is a huge priority for us, and it has been a huge priority for Joe Biden.” (snip)

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) told CNN on Sunday that the gun used in the incident, an AR-15, was purchased legally at a gun store in the state. She noted, however, that the high-capacity magazine had to have been purchased in a different state.

So, what will these bills do? He purchased legally. Do they not think a person looking to commit murder wouldn’t acquire stuff illegally? The reason that they will not pass is because it’s all about going after law abiding citizens, not criminals.

Yet, he was allowed to purchase a firearm? No one was watching him?

Pelosi calls for ‘balance’ between free speech and safety after Buffalo shooting

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Sunday that social media companies have to address and track down extremism on their platforms, after a gunman who reportedly espoused white supremacist ideology opened fire at a Buffalo, New York, supermarket on Saturday, killing at least 10.

“Obviously you have to balance the free speech issues,” Pelosi said. “Freedom is so important to us but that freedom also carries public safety with it and we have to balance that.”

“Did you ever think you would be Speaker of the House, when our greatest national security threat, according to so many analysts, is domestic terror?” Stephanopoulos asked.

“The statistics have been showing us there’s more of a threat of domestic terrorism and violence than international, global terrorism affecting our homeland,” Pelosi replied.

So, in the name of “security” free speech must be “balanced”, as in, diminished, and the Dems and their pet media will blamestorm their political opponents as domestic terrorists, simply for not toeing the Democratic line.

By ‘balanced’, the lovely Mrs Pelosi means that the government should have the right to determine what speech must be stifled. After all, Mrs Pelosi is horrified, horrified! that Elon Musk, a proponent of almost completely unrestricted freedom of speech, might buy Twitter, and, Heaven forfend! make it a medium that honors freedom of speech. Right now, Twitter’s restrictions of speech lean heavily in favor of the left, and against conservatives.

But elections are quirky things, and, who knows, someday a Republican who is less interested in allowing the left their freedom of speech might become President, and it will be the let’s speech which gets stifled. That, I’m certain, would horrify Mrs Pelosi and the rest of the loony left.

Donald Trump was supposed to be a fascist, according to our good friends on the left, but somehow, some way, he never restricted their freedom of speech, the way today’s left want to do to conservatives.

Actually, domestic terrorists dress up in body armor, grab their AR-15 and murder innocent civilians to make a political statement in hopes of changing the direction of the nation.

Sometimes their point is chaos and anarchy.

‘No Way To Prevent This,’ Says Only Nation Where This Regularly Happens

Buffalo, NY — In the days following a violent rampage in northern New York in which a lone attacker killed ten individuals, and seriously injured others, citizens living in the only country where this kind of mass killing routinely occurs reportedly concluded Monday that there was no way to prevent the massacre from taking place. “This was a terrible tragedy, but sometimes these things just happen and there’s nothing anyone can do to stop them,” said North Carolina resident William Teach, echoing sentiments expressed by tens of millions of individuals who reside in a nation where over half of the world’s deadliest mass shootings have occurred in the past 50 years and whose citizens are 20 times more likely to die of gun violence than those of other developed nations. “It’s a shame, but what can we do? There really wasn’t anything that was going to keep this guy from snapping and killing a lot of people if that’s what he really wanted.” At press time, residents of the only economically advanced nation in the world where roughly two mass shootings have occurred every month for the past five years were referring to themselves and their situation as “helpless.”

    h/t Onion News

Here in America we have mass shootings (at least 4 injured, excluding shooter) almost daily. Shootout in Amarillo bar. White supremacist executes shoppers in Buffalo. Shootout at Houston flea market. Shooting in CA Presbyterian church. Gunfights in Winston-Salem. All just this past weekend!

198 mass shootings so far in 2022.

    People be crazy.

      Dear Elwood:

Once upon a time we all had shot guns and rifles and pistols but we didn’t shoot each other.

Can you tell me what changed??

      • Elwood P. Dowd says:

        Dear James,

When I was a kid in rural MO we had hunting rifles and shotguns, few pistols and then only revolvers. The rifles were typically bolt or lever action with 4 shots. Although a .22 could hold a sleeve of cartridges.

Clearly the nature of guns have changed over the years. And teens today seem to have unfettered access to handguns.

The homicide rate was murderously high through the 60s-90s but dropped to half until 2020 when it jumped again, likely related to the stresses of the pandemic.

  3. You know what really horrifies the left? It’s that Donald Trump was able to use his freedom of speech, much of it via Twitter, to win the 2016 election, and therefore freedom of speech must be bad, bad, bad!

How did Mr Trump’s freedom of speech win him the election? He said the things that most conservatives believed, but that the ‘establishment’ Republicans wouldn’t say. He used his freedom of speech in a populist manner, and won millions upon millions of votes, in the primaries and then the general election, in a genuinely populist movement.

Of course, for the establishment types, populism is anathema!

    • Elwood P. Dowd says:

Mx Dana reveres populism but like most conservatives, hates democracy. LOL.

Mr tRump received millions fewer votes than Hillary Clinton!! There’s some populism for you.

And without Mx Putin’s freedom to have his henchmen interfere, Mr tRump may not have been able to serve at all!

Conventional wisdom has it that the answer to mistruth is more truth. Agreed. Another truth is that META and twitter are destroying the nation from the inside.

Twitter generates the majority of its revenue through selling ad space on its platform to global advertisers. To attract advertisers it needs a large and growing user base. Twitter measures its user base using a metric it calls monetizable daily active users (mDAU), which is broadly defined as the total number of user accounts that were logged in and accessed Twitter on any given day.

The company creates tailored advertising opportunities by using an algorithm to make sure promoted products make it into the right users’ timelines, search results, profile pages, and Tweet conversations. Advertisers have the ability to target an audience based on multiple criteria. Twitter provides ways for advertisers to build and grow an audience interested in the products or services they are offering. Advertisers also have the option to pay for ads that will appear at the top of the trending-topics list or timeline.

twitter and META also sell your information. Both twitter and META make billions selling you! (Actually twitter still loses money). twitter is porn for bullshitters!!

But the answer is not to shut down liars like Teach and Gateway and DonJon and Tucker and Posobeic and Cruz and DonJon Jr and Gaetz and duhSantis and Duke and on and friggin’ on. The answer is to flood the zone with truth. Listen. The standard commenter on sites like this one and Gateway are refractory to truth. Telling Teach to stop lying is fruitless. Exposing the commenters here to the truth is fruitless. But nonetheless, truth does matter.

      But truth is soooo boring!

You wrote: “Mr tRump received millions fewer votes than Hillary Clinton!! There’s some populism for you.”

Populism definition: “a political approach that strives to appeal to ordinary people who feel that their concerns are disregarded by established elite groups.”

Hillary’s majorities came from area’s dominated by the Left. The political group that has demonstrated time and time again they despise us ordinary people.

You wrote: “And without Mx Putin’s freedom to have his henchmen interfere, Mr tRump may not have been able to serve at all.”

Your side’s henchmen and henchwomen used our tax dollars and investigated for years and discovered that you lie

Given Mr Dowd’s use of the silly “Mx” honorific, which he sees as some sort of insult — and remember: the left are great at accusing conservatives of being secretly homosexual as insults — apparently you should have used “henchmxn and henchwomyn” instead.

It is curious that, after all of the “Mx” usage, Mr Dowd typed “Mr tRump”, not once but twice, it’s obvious that he, deep down, considers our 45th President to be a real man.

          • Elwood P. Dowd says:

We explained previously and more than once, why we refer to DonJon tRump as “Mr”, as opposed to “Mx”.

Stephanie Clifford vouched for DonJon having a tallywacker, and we trust her. He showed it to her in a CA hotel suite. Also, writer E. Jean Carroll claimed that DonJon raped her and she is also a reliable source. We are not aware of confirmation of a tRump Y chromosome as demanded by winger truthteller Rep Cawthorn (R-NC).

Frankly, we consider DonJon effiminate, with his bouffant hairdo, his use of make-up, his manicures, and his complete lack of masculine characteristics to be very unmanly, but porn stars like Ms Clifford are experts on tallywackers, regardless of how short and misshapen the appendage might be.

The “Mx” honorific is used for others since there is no confirmation regarding their sex. NuCons insist that we cannot take a person’s word for it.

        • Elwood P. Dowd says:

          Dear James,

It seems you desire the destruction of the American democratic republic to be replaced by what exactly.

Do you not consider Americans from urban areas to be ordinary people?

Maybe only count conservative votes? Or maybe count urban votes at 3/5 of a vote!!

DonJon tRump tried to overturn the 2020 election which he lost by not only the popular vote (you know, the people) and even the Electoral College which was designed for the elites.

What you are proposing is anti-American.

We get it. You’re part of minority that wants to rule. Good luck.

          • James Lewis says:

            Dear Elwood:

Quit changing the subject. You claim Hillary’s supporters to be populists, but they don’t meet the description given that DC/NYC/Chic/Big Cities etc/Gollywood and its Woke Rider claim to be elite with special understanding of what the rest of us need.

And yes, the Left stole the election. I know it, you know and millions of others know it.

            Dithering becomes you.

          • Elwood P. Dowd says:

            Dear Mx James,

Someone who seriously, actually, genuinely feels/believes that Donald J. Trump received more votes than President Joseph R. Biden in the 2020 Presidential election, then that someone is irrational. Period.

It’s a litmus test for reason… and thus, we have little to discuss. You cannot be led out of the wilderness by force.

But then, as we continue to point out, much of what the American nuRight feels/believes is just not true.

THE Election. Global warming. The Great Replacement. Nazi Ukraine. Covid. Killer Covid vaccines. Putin. Gods, demons, angels and miracles. More guns, fewer crimes!

A society where a sizable minority of citizens has lost touch with reality is not long for this world. Thank you, wingers.

            Best, Elwood

They view both populism and nationalism as the anti-christ of leftism. As well they should for populism promotes the will of the people over the elites and nationalism promotes the needs of ones own country over those of others. There is nothing inherently wrong or immoral about either position unless you’re a “one worlder”. Just look at the left’s response to allowing the People to determine abortion laws as opposed to having them jammed down their throats by a committee of nine. All the lefties who scream about muh democr’cy all the time now suddenly see no benefit to allowing states and their citizens what the best fit is regarding themselves. Just like the people who saw violent insurrection when a bunch of goof balls strolled through the Capitol in protest of the election now are suddenly all in for illegal protests and intimidation of SC justices. Funny how things change when the Birkenstock is on the other foot.
