NASA Says Earth Trapping “Unprecedented” Amounts Of Heat

Now that China Joe is in the White House the climate cultists/activists at NASA feel emboldened to start trotting out their doom and gloom, and now that summer is almost here they’re going to make sure it is really Doomy

Earth is trapping ‘unprecedented’ amount of heat, Nasa says

The Earth is trapping nearly twice as much heat as it did in 2005, according to new research, described as an “unprecedented” increase amid the climate crisis.

Scientists from Nasa, the US space agency, and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (Noaa), reported in a new study that Earth’s “energy imbalance approximately doubled” from 2005 to 2019. The increase was described as “alarming”.

“Energy imbalance” refers to the difference between how much of the Sun’s “radiative energy” is absorbed by Earth’s atmosphere and surface, compared to how much “thermal infrared radiation” bounces back into space.

“A positive energy imbalance means the Earth system is gaining energy, causing the planet to heat up,” Nasa said in a statement about this study.

Scientists determined there was an energy imbalance by comparing data from satellite sensors – which track how much energy enters and exits Earth’s system – and data from ocean floats.

And you know this is your fault

Upticks in greenhouse gas emissions keep heat in Earth’s atmosphere, trapping radiation that would otherwise move into space. This warming spurs other changes, including ice and snow melt. An increase in water vapor, and changes to clouds, could further exacerbate this warming, Nasa said.

But, they had to admit that nature plays a roll, but, couldn’t help going cultist

Researchers also said that a “naturally occurring” shift in the Pacific ocean from a cool phase to a warm one probably had a significant role in amplifying this energy imbalance.

“It’s likely a mix of anthropogenic forcing and internal variability,” Loeb said. “And over this period they’re both causing warming, which leads to a fairly large change in Earth’s energy imbalance. The magnitude of the increase is unprecedented.”

How do they know it is unprecedented? Perhaps during the satellite era, but, what about before then? What about during the very hot 1930’s? Or the previous Holocene warm periods, which would not have had fossil fuels?

Here’s the summary from the NASA article:

Climate is determined by how much of the sun’s energy the Earth absorbs and how much energy Earth sheds through emission of thermal infrared radiation. Their sum determines whether Earth heats up or cools down. Continued increases in concentrations of well-mixed greenhouse gasses in the atmosphere and the long time-scales time required for the ocean, cryosphere, and land to come to thermal equilibrium with those increases result in a net gain of energy, hence warming, on Earth. Most of this excess energy (about 90%) warms the ocean, with the remainder heating the land, melting snow and ice, and warming the atmosphere. Here we compare satellite observations of the net radiant energy absorbed by Earth with a global array of measurements used to determine heating within the ocean, land and atmosphere, and melting of snow and ice. We show that these two independent approaches yield a decadal increase in the rate of energy uptake by Earth from mid-2005 through mid-2019, which we attribute to decreased reflection of energy back into space by clouds and sea-ice and increases in well-mixed greenhouse gases and water vapor.

But what do rocket scientists know about science, amIright?

“Which we attribute to decreased reflection of energy back into space by clouds and sea ice increases in well mixed greenhouse gasses and water vapor”. Yes, J, what do they know? The energy increase due to decreased reflection from clouds and sea ice “increases” doesn’t quite fit the narrative, now does it? How could sea ice increase if the Arctic was supposed to be ice-free by now? Anyway, more new papers coming out showing clouds having a greater effect than CO2 https://notrickszone.com/2021/06/07/magnitude-of-recent-surface-solar-radiation-forcing-over-us-is-tens-of-times-greater-than-from-co2/

Seems Rimjob, dipshit that he is, neglects the rest of the analysis while bitterly clinging to the CO2 being the driver of global warming argument.

Even the ClimateGate “scientists” got called on this for their gross manipulation and manufacturing of temperature data while ignoring alternative causes.

William Teach: they had to admit that nature plays a roll (sic)

This was made regarding the warm phase of the Pacific. Does Teach ever wonder why the Pacific Ocean is warming? (Hint: It’s probably not undersea volcanoes as a con-mentor has claimed).

It was that tiny minuscule rise in surface temps that wiped out 90% of NJ lobster harvest

    • Jl says:

So in other words, if was just a “tiny minuscule of surface temp rise”, then it’s obviously happened thousands, if not more, times in the past, right? Or are the oceans somehow supposed to stay at the same temp?

    NASA, bringing fiction to truth.

Let’s say the earth is trapped in a recurring catastrophic cycle of destruction. And that we are are briefly experiencing a moment in its ebbs and flows. If Co2 is the main force of climate (not) and plants produce the vast majority of Co2 then the ice sheets at the poles tell us that this once past tropical/forested area(s) need to be covered in order to bring our current climate into existence. So, if we plant more, we create more Co2, if we create more Co2 we will eventually create the next ice age etc etc. Plants then would be at work with the sun creating ice ages. Ice ages cleanse. Fires cleanse. Floods cleanse.

My physics teacher was an MIT grad and when asked (in the early 80’s when science was, well science it seemed) what has man got to do with climate? answered, nothing. The earth heats up until it starts to cool down, then it cools down until it freezes, then its frozen until it starts to heat up again. And its all controlled by the sun. He also said we are at the beginning of a new cooling period.

I trust he retired with his “science” intact.

We know why the small region in the N Atlantic is cooling. Don’t you?
