Senator Josh Hawley Explains His Lone Vote Against Asian Hate Crimes Bill

This rather is what I was saying yesterday, and if only more Republicans had stood up for Free Speech

Hawley explains lone ‘no’ vote on bipartisan Asian hate crimes bill

Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Mo., said he couldn’t join with the rest of the Senate in approving an Asian hate crimes bill on Thursday because the legislation was too broad and could infringe on free speech.

In a follow-up statement to Fox News, Hawley added that the language could be “dangerous.”

“It’s too broad,” Hawley said. “As a former prosecutor, my view is it’s dangerous to simply give the federal government open-ended authority to define a whole new class of federal hate crime incidents.”

He’s correct. It gives, again, Los Federales even more power to regulate speech, which, last time I checked, violated the Constitution.

2024 presidential candidate Josh “One-Term” Hawley (Q-MO) is just trolling for all the reactionary voters.

Recall he encouraged the Jan 6 right-wing insurrection trying to overturn the election. Yes, of course, it could have just been a cynical political calculation on “One-Term’s” part, thinking a second term for trump would offer a glide path for Hawley’s 2024 aspirations. Now he has to out-stupid trump for right-wing adoration, which is no small order. He will be forced to assault Blacks, gays, trans, reason, Asian-Americans, immigrants, Hispanics, Muslims and science, ALL while trying to suppress Democratic votes (with that he has lots of GOPher help).

Curiously, neither One-Term nor Teach has pointed out the exact portion of the bill that abridges First Amendment rights. We recall Teach referring to the “end of the bill”, where it states that alternative sentencing related to probation may include education classes or community service with the harmed group. We send DUI offenders and drug addicts to education classes as part of their probation. Why not people who assault others based on their race, nationality or religion? Are Teach and Hawley afraid they’ll lose a white supremacist or two to education? Anyway, a convicted criminal can take it to court (if the House passes the bill with that provision and Biden signs) and let the SCOTUS let them know if it’s constitutional or not.

I find it funny how you keep referring to the capitol event as an insurrection.

So as defined you are correct.

a violent uprising against an authority or government.

Therefore BLM storming our cities NIGHTLY are an insurrection because it is violent each night against authority and government.

BLM storms IOWA Capital – Black Lives Matter protestors have stormed the Iowa State Capitol, in a move that would be described as an “insurrection” if conducted by people on the right. The protestors forced their way into the building to stage a die-in.

NOT AN INSURRECTION according to the left and the communist news propaganda service.

ANTIFA taking over Portland, Seattle and parts of Minneapolis is an INSURRECTION and yet the left does not care nor do they portray it as such but with a few hundred people storming the capitol they now want to throw Americans out of the military for wrong think and have gone on an ethnic cleansing behind America’s backs to rid ourselves of WHITENESS.

THIS….is why the federal government wants control of social media. It does not necessarily have to do with a political agenda as much as it does with the stupidity of the Insurrectionist that are running rampant all over the country today.

Insurrection is happening all over on a daily basis. The left considers their insurrection JUSTIFIED while they condemn in the harshest of tone anything the right might do to protest their grievances.

You justify leftist insurrection while condemning anything that the right ever does. That is your right. This thinking is why this country is doomed. China and Russia have done exactly what they said they would do…….Take over America without firing a shot.

Insurrection is a daily occurrence now. The sooner both sides realize this the sooner sanity might have a chance to exist. But I doubt it.

  2. Jl says:

J-who are these “white supremacists” you constantly talk about? Have specifics on who and where they are?

    • Elwood P. Dowd says:

      Jil,

White supremacists are almost always caucasian conservative males who believe/feel that white people are superior to more pigmented people. They prefer and work toward stopping immigration of non-white people to US. Not all American white supremacists are members of white supremacist organizations such as neoNazis, KKK, Oathkeepers, IIIpercenters, Proud Boys etc.

The GOP now has white supremacists running for office, and Marjorie Taylor Greene was actually elected!! She tried and failed to start a white supremacist caucus in the House.

      • Est1950 says:

Critical race theory you demand be taught by the government and in schools from Kindergarten only identifies one group as aggrieved. Blacks. Hispanics, Asians, Muslims, Hindus, Indians, Pakistanis etc. etc. are:

ALL WHITE NATIONALISTS and therefore they have their own militias which seeks the demise of the United States and The Black race, which by the way is the second largest race on the planet after Asian.

So your definition would include Asians, Hispanics, Muslims, Indians, Hindus, Jews, Christians and nearly 82 percent of the rest of the world.

Speaking of racism. Perhaps you should look in the mirror when you post.

FROM BLM: The current world population is 7.7 billion as of September 2019 according to the most recent United Nations estimates elaborated by Worldometers. Here is the “Cold Water” of reality Albinos and Mongols: “YOUR” 21% + 11.5% = 32.5% of the Human population. THE “OTHER” 67.5% or 5.19 BILLION IS BLACK!!! (or Mulatto).

Therefore who are the actual racists of the world?

      • Jl says:

Nice article-it bases it’s “findings” on the mere opinion of one or two people or groups. Very scientific. On top of that, the SPLC has been deemed a hate group themselves. And notice the read between the lines remark associating those against illegal immigration are….you guessed it…white supremacists! Again, very scientific. It knows of no numbers, or actual people except several mentioned, that belong to these alleged groups. J, chalk this one up in your global warming theory column-all speculation and assertions.

      • Jl says:

Of course the truth is usually opposite of what J says it is. I’m stunned this one hasn’t been in the news daily-ok, not really. During RBG’s confirmation hearing, China Joe said “many fine people display the Confederate flag”. https://www.usatoday.com/story/opinion/2020/10/02/trump-and-white-supremacy-he-did-condemn-and-has-repeatedly-column/5883336002/

        • Elwood P. Dowd says:

Poor Jil, still obsessed with the Biggest Loser.

You deny that the Earth is warming, so why wouldn’t you deny the white supremacists among us.

Richard Spencer: “Our dream is a new society, an ethno-state that would be a gathering point for all Europeans. It would be a new society based on very different ideals than, say, the Declaration of Independence.”

“This country does belong to white people, culturally, politically, socially, everything. We defined what America is.”

“Immigration is a kind a proxy war — and maybe a last stand — for White Americans, who are undergoing a painful recognition that, unless dramatic action is taken, their grandchildren will live in a country that is alien and hostile.”

“In thinking about immigration and migration, I could not care less whether someone filled out the paperwork correctly or passed a civics exam. I oppose the immigration of an African who waits his turn and genuinely ‘wants to be an American’; conversely, I would gladly accept thousands of ‘Swedish boat people’ who wash up on the shores.”

“Martin Luther King Jr., a fraud and degenerate in his life, has become the symbol and cynosure of White Dispossession and the deconstruction of Occidental civilization. We must overcome!”

“The alt-right is deeply connected to Trumpian populism in intellectual, spiritual, and visceral ways — for, as everyone agrees, Trump’s victory was, at its root, a victory of identity politics.”

“Trump has opened the door to nationalism in this country — not American nationalism but the white race. Once that door has fully swung open, you can’t close it.”

David Duke: “Our clear goal must be the advancement of the white race and separation of the white and black races. This goal must include freeing of the American media and government from subservient Jewish interests.”

Marjorie Greene (Q-GA) had someone write for her: “America is a nation with a border, and a culture, strengthened by a common respect for uniquely Anglo-Saxon political traditions.”

“The America First Caucus will work towards an infrastructure that reflects the architectural,
engineering and aesthetic value that befits the progeny of European architecture”

          Jil, do you disagree?
          ?

          • Kye Lee says:

You have several un-attributed quotes there, who are they from?

I assume you could do the same smear with BLM or Democrat quotes (I know I could) but won’t. That’s keeping an “open mind” there Red’s.

I assume that your above comment means anyone who still believes America was founded by and for European Whites is a White supremacist, correct? Because as you tried to tie every White person into a neat little bundle of racism you proved our point.

Which part of America was not founded by Whites? Which part of America is better to live in, the black and brown parts or the White parts? Take your time as I know you live in the White part.

Which of the Founding Fathers reflect black, brown or yellow races? Which of our Founding principles from the Declaration to the Constitution were derived from any race other than Whites and any faith other than Christianity?

In a previous thread you asked: “Can you describe black culture?” And why can’t you describe black culture? You act completely unaware of black lifestyles, living, proclivities, actions, beliefs, art, music and their tendency toward crime. Do you read much? Get out at all? Observe the blacks around you?
My own foster son told me he has “negro fatigue”. He’s tired of 13% of the population constantly bitching about everything. So am I does that make me a White supremacist?

You ask JI if he disagrees one many different points. I’ll ask you these:

Why do you hate White people?
            Why do you hate Christians?
            Why do you hate America?

Why will you not speak the truth about races? About observable and documented facts of racial differences? Do you believe all races are the same?

          • Elwood P. Dowd says:

Your belief in white supremacy makes you a white supremacist.

  3. Dana says:

    From the legislation:

    (2) COVID–19 HATE CRIME.—The term “COVID–19 hate crime” means a crime of violence (as such term is defined in section 16 of 18, United States Code) that is motivated by—

    (A) the actual or perceived race, ethnicity, age, color, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, or disability of any person; and

    (B) the actual or perceived relationship to the spread of COVID–19 of any person because of the characteristic described in subparagraph (A).

    SEC. 3. GUIDANCE.

    (a) Guidance For Law Enforcement Agencies.—The Attorney General shall issue guidance for State and local law enforcement agencies on the following:

    (1) The establishment of online reporting of hate crimes or incidents, and the availability of online reporting available in multiple languages.

    (2) The expansion of culturally competent and linguistically appropriate public education campaigns, and collection of data and public reporting of hate crimes.

    (b) Best practices to describe the COVID-19 pandemic: The Attorney General and the Secretary of Health and Human Services, in coordination with the COVID–19 Health Equity Task Force and community-based organizations, shall issue guidance describing best practices to mitigate racially discriminatory language in describing the COVID–19 pandemic.

Do you want to assign to the federal government the authority to tell you how to refer to the Wuhan virus?

We already have an ordinance in New York City in which a business can be fined up to $250,000 if one of it’s employees ‘misgenders’ a completely delusional ‘transgender’ person. Just wait until a completely f(ornicated up in the head) guy who thinks he’s a chick ‘transgender’ New Yorker decides to try to apply NYC’s human rights ordinances on that to a blog which, though published in Raleigh, NC or eastern Kentucky is available in the Rotten Apple, because his precious little feelings were hurted.

    • Elwood P. Dowd says:

As Mx Dana points out, correctly, the bill states:

“COVID–19 hate crime” means a crime of violence (as such term is defined in section 16 of 18, United States Code) that is motivated by—

      (A) the actual or perceived race, ethnicity, age, color, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, or disability of any person; and

      (B) the actual or perceived relationship to the spread of COVID–19 of any person because of the characteristic described in subparagraph (A).

You can refer to the tRump Plague as the China Virus, the Gook Virus, the Wuhan Virus, or even SARS-CoV-2, but if you assault someone and it’s determined the assault was motivated by you believing the Asian-American is responsible for the tRump Plague you may receive additional charges. Be sure to read the part about a “crime of violence”.

Think and say whatever you wish, just don’t assault anyone.

You should know by now not to rely on Teach for your education. He’s a propagandist and bomb-thrower.

All hate crime legislation is Orwellian thought crime. If you think something that’s unapproved you are a criminal. Right now the fascist media and opinion makers are who are concerned. Once it is codified people with real power like AG’s and County Prosecutors get to weigh in. By the way, my thirty something son and daughter never had to read Orwell. They have no point of reference for what a fascist really is.

  5. Elwood P. Dowd says:

It begins… A “decent” white woman, Hilary, was videoed standing in her neighbor’s front yard calling the black neighbor a n!gger and “the wrong color”. So far, so good. The constitution guarantees free speech, although the black neighbor had the right to shoot the trespasser but chose not to exercise her 2nd Amendment right.

Anyway, “Hilary” was wearing her work badge and her private employer fired her once the video was made public.

What has America become when a decent white woman is punished for exercising her right to speak freely, i.e, shout that her neighbor is a n!gger?
