New Democrat Idea: China Joe Sending The DOJ After Trump

Excitable Alan Hunt says this will be “politically polarizing.” How about “driving a stake into the calls for unity”? Or “you want civil war? This is how you get it”?

Biden’s new challenge: Holding Trump accountable

The moves to hold Donald Trump accountable for trying to subvert the presidential election are proceeding with stunning speed, though there is no consensus among his critics on which is the most effective.

Two events have changed the political dynamics with only a week left in the Trump presidency: The Trump-incited mob that stormed the Capitol, causing five deaths and forcing the House and Senate to go into hiding as they were counting Joe Biden’s electoral victory; and the recorded phone call of the president trying to strong-arm the Georgia Secretary of State to reverse that state’s election results. (snip past impeachment stupidity)

But with the carnage at the Capitol and the president’s attempts to change the Georgia election results, many Democrats — and privately more than a handful of Republicans — now believe tax and accounting fraud seem trivial next to charges of attempting to subvert a presidential election.

Democrats spent four years trying to change the outcome of the 2016 election.

It seems almost inevitable now that the new Attorney General, Merrick Garland, will have to launch a criminal investigation into the president’s actions. That will be politically polarizing, but the enormous prestige of Garland, a former chief judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals and former top Justice Department official in charge of prosecuting the Oklahoma City bomber case, is a godsend for Biden.

Garland will probably tap a special counsel with a carefully prescribed mandate over subverting the election, culminating with the mob violence at the Capitol. Trump may try to pardon himself for any crimes committed during his term. This never has been tested, as there never has been a self-pardon, and with most constitutional experts suggesting it’s not permissible, it would not discourage a federal probe.

Will China Joe be dumb enough to do this? He would be asking for trouble, asking for protests in the street, protests which could turn as violent as the BLM/Antifa ones we’ve see this past year. He’d be telling 70 million Trump voters to, essentially, go f*ck themselves, that their votes did not count, that they don’t count. How dangerous could this be politically?

There still is a need for a special commission to look beyond just the criminal charges into questions like the role played by other politicians, social media and white nationalist terrorist groups. A parallel has been drawn to the 9/11 commission, but the better model might be the 1967 Kerner Commission on race relations, a bipartisan panel appointed by a presidential executive order.

And how smart would this be, investigating all these people for, essentially, Wrongthink? There are many Democrats yammering about “accountability before unity”: if they start attacking Trump supporters, using the Power Of Government, this will not go well for this country, and, no, that is not an overblown thought. Democrats using the Government to attack whom they consider to be political enemies will lead to bad things happening.

The fact that Trump hasn’t committed any crimes never stopped the Democrats before.

    • Elwood P. Dowd says:

The Senate impeachment process determines whether he has committed “high crimes or misdemeanors”. Commenters on blogs carry less weight in the process.

If a mechanic calls the GA Secretary of State urging him to “find 11,780 votes” it’s not a crime. If the President does it and tosses in a few threats it may well be a crime.

The same with his incitement speech in DC Jan 6.

      • Jl says:

And what were the words that “incited”, J? Or will this be another climate change exercise where you never offer any proof?

        • Remember Ashli Babbitt says:

That fool hasn’t had an original opinion or thought in his life. He uses “incited” because that’s what good little fascists are being told to do. Jut like buring down cities and killing 26 people is “peaceful protest” but 40 Antifa guys infiltrating a Stop the Steal protest is “treason”, “insurrection” and “incited”.

The protest was incited but not by Trump, by the fascist pigs who stole an election then told us what we saw was a lie and we’re stupid and wouldn’t do a recount. Then stopped free speech and told us basically to go fuk ourselves. That’s where the real “incitement” is.

My foster son and his friends who were at DC are planning to go to DC again on 1/20. I hope they keep Antifa and BLM out. We don’t need any more phony “incitements”.

  2. Est1950 says:

Elwood is the classic example of what I am about to talk about. It has become time for the united states of Corporations to break up. A divorce.

Texas is already putting out secession legislation in the form of polling and a referendum of its own citizens. It is in their constitution that they can leave the union at any time.

Not that that means much to the power crazed Washington DC power establishment, but never the less it is happening. The smaller states in the midwest have been relatively unaffected by this so far therefore they have little skin in the game. YET.

The Federal government has become too powerful. Too overbearing. They dictate as dictators do, no matter which party is in control.

Rather than secession the real solution to the conundrum facing the violence that is about to be shoved down the throats of the American people is a decentralization of Government. The power given back to the states.

An example is that people who live in Portland have almost ZERO in common with people who live in Alabama. People in California Zero with Wyoming, ND, SD, MT, KS, NE, OK.

YET (((((((BOTH)))))) SIDES try to dictate to the other what is morally right. Abortion. In the deep south it is murder. IN blue California it is a way of life.

Culturally we are a dozen different countries now. We are NOT ONE AMERICA but rather a collection of TRIBES with a tribal mentality with all sides USING THE FED to dictate to the rest what we will and won’t do.

    • Est1950 says:

Either we decentralize and return the power to the states or we FAIL. There is no success without everyone having the same goal, or at least aimed in the same direction, and right now even the GOP has become a collection of individual goals and agendas and tribes…just like the Democrats.

If we do NOT decentralize and limit the federal government’s power over Americans then there is only one alternative and that is secession followed by Civil war. No where is this more evident than people fleeing blue states to Texas, Arizona and Nevada. A red, A purple and a Blue state.

It is not political. It is to survive economically and collectively we all think with our billfolds first and our politics second. Many of these blue states just keep cranking up the taxes. FINE…GOT NO PROBLEM WITH THAT.

I am not saying one state or any state is better than the other state. What I am trying to get across is the alternative to secession and civil war is a DECENTRALIZED FEDERAL GOVERNMENT in which the massive power owned by the government is dictatorial in nature and we have allowed it to happen. This, today is the result.

    • Remember Ashli Babbitt says:

That’s why we were named The United States of America not the Diverse States of America. When our “leaders” begin to think what is best for our nation is to flood it with second and third world migrants we no longer have a United States. Diversity for any people, race, country means ultimate death. It is not racist to defend your race. It is not nationalistic to love your nation. Revering God does not make a country a theocracy. But electing(???) crooked leftists interested only in power does make it a kakistocracy and soon a fascist dictatorship.

When our speech is violence and their violence is speech the Republic is lost. Especially when the vote is cooked and to say so gets you called names, fired from your work and your free speech eliminated.

We have been and still remain in an abusive relationship with the left.

TEACH is panicking that Mr Trump may be investigated for actual crimes he seems to have committed.

“It seems almost inevitable now that the new Attorney General, Merrick Garland, will have to launch a criminal investigation into the president’s actions. Garland will probably tap a special counsel with a carefully prescribed mandate over subverting the election, culminating with the mob violence at the Capitol.”

As a nation we need to make certain the next “trump” doesn’t subvert an election with false claims of fraud, actions from trump and his minions that ended in an incited assault on the US Capitol.

In addition, state prosecutors also have cases involving trump’s business dealings.

No one is above the law.

“But, but the Dems tried to overturn the the 2016 election!” No, the US gov’t investigated the trump campaign’s suspicious interactions with Russia and Russian operatives, and found plenty. Sure, playing footsie with Russians is not as criminal as Whitewater or lying about blowjobs, but it’s serious enough. Trump’s leaning on the Ukraine President to dig up dirt on Mr Biden was impeachable. The GOP circled the wagons to protect trump for 4 years, hoping against hope that he would start acting like an American President. He didn’t. In fact, he interpreted this enabling as giving him carte blanche to further degrade the Presidency.

TEACH and the far-right are now threatening even more violence if trump is investigated further. Really? This is where you are? Mob violence to get your way.

81 million American voters told the 74 million trump voters all they need to know. That’s how the system works. TEACH keeps imagining/feeling/believing the absurd conspiracy tale that trump was cheated and that this justifies murderous violence.

You hate to hear this but more Americans voted for Clinton than trump in 2016 and trump told Clinton “voters to, essentially, go f*ck themselves, that their votes did not count, that they don’t count.” But that’s the way the system works. Clinton, being more of an American than trump, didn’t seek to destroy the nation’s infrastructure.

Is TEACH really arguing that those that murdered Officer Sicknick shouldn’t be pursued? That trump, if shown to have committed crimes, shouldn’t be pursued? This is not prosecuting “wrongthink”, it’s investigating potential crimes. And his argument is that it will make neoNazis, Proud Boys, white supremacists and QAnoners more willing to commit more deadly terrorist acts?

EVEN TRUMP HAS CALLED IN THOUSANDS OF THE NATIONAL GUARD TO PROTECT DC.

  4. The Left Are Traitors says:

The boot presses on the necks of Patriots. As the Elwood’s win our country is destroyed. Now American Thinker no longer takes comments. It may be time for Teach to rethink his position on Free Speech before trolls like Elwood and Hairy get him investigated for crimes against the New Fascist State of Xiden. a

“It is news to almost nobody who reads American Thinker that a political witch hunt is underway. Parties in and out of government are looking for excuses to suppress and destroy voices that oppose the left.

Because AT lacks the ability to monitor comments in real time, and because our position that comments are a forum, not something we publish, is being called into question, we can no longer publish comments.

We take this action with a heavy heart.”

Pretty soon you will be unable to travel or go to town for groceries without your digital passport.

The left is mindlessly destroying personal freedoms because of the FLU…..This is exactly why we need a divorce.

The left will not stop this mindless power grab no matter who it crushes. Individual liberty used to be the bedrock of America.

    THIS?

This is what they do in CHINA, the USSR, Cuba, Venezuela and other wonderful tourist destinations.

    Our esteemed host wrote:

There are many Democrats yammering about “accountability before unity”

That’s because they realize there will be no ‘unity.’ They hate conservatives, and they hate populists, and the only ‘unity’ they want is for themselves to be masters over ‘unified’ conservative subjects.

    • Elwood P. Dowd says:

Well, no. Democrats don’t hate conservatives although they disagree with conservative policies. Mitt Romney, Liz Cheney, Lindsey Graham, Mike Pence, John McCain, George W. Bush, John Roberts, Ronald Reagan, H.W. Bush, Colin Powell, etc were conservatives but are now considered communists by the nuCons.

Trump supported most conservative Republican policies but added extra cruelty and bigotry to attract more fringe types (white nationalists, neoNazis, nativists).

Hating populists? “Populist parties and social movements are often led by charismatic or dominant figures who present themselves as the “voice of the people”. According to the ideational approach, populism is often combined with other ideologies, such as nationalism, liberalism, or socialism. Thus, populists can be found at different locations along the left–right political spectrum, and there exist both left-wing populism and right-wing populism.”

Occupy Wall Street was a “populist” movement. The Trump insurrection was a “populist” movement.

Yes, Democrats want to lead. As do Republicans. Most of the time, they end up having to make compromises that satisfy no one. You call Dems communists and we call Repubs fascists. Neither is correct, is it.
