Snow Is An Indicator Of Global Warming Or Something

Why yes, the Cult of Climastrology is continuing its drumbeat where a warming world creates more snow. Even if true, it still wouldn’t prove anthropogenic causation

SNOW IS AN INDICATOR OF GLOBAL WARMING

For those of you out there who relished on the snow and starting using it as an example of why climate change theories are wrong, you should know that snow is an indicator of global warming. (snip)

The global warming theory dictates that burning fossil fuels lead to a higher concentration of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. These gases, also called greenhouse gasses, attract more heat than others. This leads to a rise of the temperature worldwide. A warmer planets lead to the accelerated melting of the ice caps which can cause severe natural disasters as a very aggressive El Nino phenomenon or a sudden shift in the seasons, much warmer summers and much colder winters. So snow is an indicator of global warming. (snip)

Snow is an indicator of global warming as much as fever indicates an infection. People who don’t believe in climate change should only take a look at the numbers. 2014 was the hottest summer in history, and then 2015 was the hottest summer in history. A pattern is beginning to form and it doesn’t bring good news.

Again, warming is not proof of anthropogenic causation, especially from the burning of fossil fuels releasing CO2. It just proves warming, which has occurred multiple times through the Holocene, much less throughout the 4.5 billion years the Earth has been around.

Furthermore, by the argument Warmists are making, that would mean that snow would be less prevalent during cool periods, which, of course, is a bunch of mularky. Warmists originally told us that a warming world would see less snowfall. When Mother Nature failed to cooperate with their prognostications via computer models and talking points, they decided to pimp the notion that warming causes cold and snow. Much like with a cult, they blame everything, no matter how contradictory, on their cause.

Why do you bother with these poorly written, poorly sourced and poorly reasoned articles from the intertoobs?

    Case in point:

These gases, also called greenhouse gasses, attract more heat than others.

The spelling of gases changes within a single sentence! Plus, greenhouse gases do not “attract more heat than others”!

But rather than point out the errors in the fluff article, you use it as a platform to re-preach your mantra.

All you need to remember is that the Earth is warming because the concentration of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere is increasing from human activities. The rest falls into place.

Actually Teach “scientists” do not use a ruler and snow to measure temps
    They use a thermometer
It seldom snows heavily in the USA when it gets too cold (other than lake effect) it most often snows heavily when the temps are around 25-32 F
And Teach GHG do not attract heat, they are not some type of magnet
They do absorb infrared radiation (heat) that most of our atmoshpere does not
Are you suggesting that our last record breaking snow was caused by abnormally low temps?
And Teach shouldn’t you always qualify “warmists” by saying “some warmists”?
Undoubtably some climate triggers are American neo Nazis, would you object if I said that climate truthers are Nazis?
And Teach is it your contention that total snowfall in the USA is increasing ? Because that is not true

I was speaking with my best friend yesterday. He’s more of an alarmist than Jeffrey, telling me that we Republicans are just awful for denying climate change, because our actions mean killing eight billion people fifty years from now.

Well, that’s kind of silly, and I asked him for a source for that eight billion, which, naturally, he doesn’t have. But then we went on about what he is doing about climate change if he is so very concerned.

1 – The previous owner of his house removed all of the screens from the windows, and threw them away. That means that he’s always using either the heat or the air conditioning, because he can’t open the windows without the house getting full of bugs. Has he or is he going to buy some screens, so that he can be comfortable in his home without having to run the air conditioning when it gets seasonably warm in the spring? No, of course not.

2 – He drives a full sized automobile, a Mercury Marquis now, though he used to drive Cadillacs, even though he is single, with no children. I asked him if he is going to trade in his large vehicle for a smaller one, to use less fuel? No, he likes having a large car, even though he in no way actually needs one.

3 – He said that I was being selfish by not being concerned about climate change after I said that, in the fifty years he said we’ll all be dead, I will be long gone to my eternal reward. I pointed out to him that his response to my questions about what he is going to do, personally, was pretty much the same as mine. He admitted that!

Jeffrey doesn’t share what he does about global warming climate change with us, at least not specifically, though he has previously said that his carbon footprint is small; Ken admitted as to what he was not doing about it. I have to say it: I find it difficult to accept the warnings of the warmists as being something to take seriously when they don’t behave as though they take them seriously themselves.

The most important thing any of us can do about global warming is to toss as many conservatives out of office as possible. The nice thing about getting conservatives out of office is that it helps with global warming but also with almost every other issue of our times! Taxes, healthcare, immigration, trade, voter suppression, regulation, labor, environment and on and on! This November vote those conservatives out of office!

After that, there are books, articles and websites that can help you out with how to become a more responsible citizen.

Individuals can do what they can, but the heavy lifting will have to come from us all working together, i.e., our governments.

  7. Jeffery says:

    alan,

You don’t have to be very observant to recognize that our climate impacts most of what we do.

  8. Jl says:

All we need to remember is that the earth is not warming from man’s additional CO2. Just no evidence to back it up. The warming comes from data manipulation and a very poor land-base temperature system that covers only half the earth’s surface. Since 1960 the number of reporting stations has declined about 30%. That’s a good one- the science is settled even though we’re actually measuring less stations. The satellite system, which covers much more area than the land-based ones, show no warming. Again: Third IPCC Assessment report, 2001. “A warming atmosphere will mean less snow.” The climate circus continues

  9. Jeffery says:

    j,

Your anti-science conspiracy theories notwithstanding, the evidence and data overwhelmingly support the theory of AGW. It is irrational to Deny this.

The latest meme of the far, far right crazy Deniers is that all the data have been faked! Brilliant! And irrefutable!!

Sea levels, Arctic sea ice, glaciers, flora and fauna, and the Antarctic and Greenland ice sheets have all believed the “lies” from the climate scientists. Or has all that data been faked too?

Thank god for John Christy, the only honest scientist left on Earth, LOL! Like the Phoenix arising from the ashes, Christy, the only climate scientist (with an assist from Roy Spencer) proven to be pimping false data, is resurrected as the hero of the right-wing deniosphere!

  10. Jeffery says:

    Dava,

I know you are struggling with this whole climate change global warming nomenclature thingy. Here’s an article explaining why Frank Lutz and W. Bush switched from saying global warming to climate change some 15 years ago.

    http://www.theguardian.com/environment/2003/mar/04/usnews.climatechange

“Voters believe that there is no consensus about global warming within the scientific community. Should the public come to believe that the scientific issues are settled, their views about global warming will change accordingly.

“Therefore, you need to continue to make the lack of scientific certainty a primary issue in the debate.”

The phrase “global warming” should be abandoned in favor of “climate change”, Mr Luntz says…

The Luntz/Republican Party memo was distributed in 2002. By 2008 the Republican Party stopped recognizing even “climate change”.

So, Dava, kudos for continually ridiculing the Republican Party for their semantic games around global warming/climate change – dear lord, they deserve it.

Climate realists understand that global warming is causing the climate to change. It’s the con-men of the deniosphere sowing confusion and uncertainty. And why? Politics.

  11. Jeffery says:

I find it difficult to accept the warnings of the warmists as being something to take seriously when they don’t behave as though they take them seriously themselves

    Exactly! Right on, brother!

That’s the same reason one can’t take seriously “small government” types who take advantage of “big gov’t” services daily, or anti-abortionists who call abortion “murder”, yet do no more than whine about babies being murdered!!

These hypocrites suck on the teat of Rush Limbaugh’s Big Gov’t by accepting subsidies for their mortgages, Social Security pensions, healthcare – utilize healthcare advances paid for by NIH and NCI – accept protection of their way of life from the Big Gov’t military, NSA and FBI – drive on Big Gov’t built highways – drink Big Gov’t mandated pure water – breathe Big Gov’t mandated clean air – accept the subsidy of Big Gov’t backed investments and bank deposits – use the Big Gov’t US mail – cash Big Gov’t unemployment checks.

And who can possibly take seriously an anti-abortionist who calls abortion “murder”, yet doesn’t expend all their energies, if not their life, to prevent the murder of babies?? If they really felt that babies were being murdered they would take a stand beyond typing “abortion is murder” every few weeks on the interwebs.

  13. Jeffery says:

“Snow from warming!” “It must have been hot during the last ice age, yuck, yuck!”

I am guilty of overestimating the basic knowledge of the denier class. Or I overestimate your honesty. I should read more WUWT to understand where you’re coming from.

Are you intellectually incapable of understanding or do you just choose not to?

Anyway, a stretch of the Atlantic Ocean off the East Coast is warmer than usual. Warmer water and warmer air lead to more moisture in the air. When this moist air intersects with cold air from a front – voila, snowfall. The more moisture, the more snow. These facts are why the meteorologists’ computer model predictions were spot on. This is why climate realists relate these monster Nor’easters to global warming. Sheesh.

Rather than crowing that “Warm can’t cause snow!”, you should be asking if global warming could be causing the ocean warming seen off the East Coast, and how.

Translation: we must use the democratic system to put in place as many totalitarians as possible, people who are willing to use the police power of the state to force those who do not agree with them to do what the left want anyway.

Conservatives will let you do what you want. You want to drive a ‘smart’ car? Go right ahead, that’s your own business, and none of mine. You want to pay higher taxes? Here’s a Treasury Department website which will accept your higher taxes, so feel free, go right ahead, I wouldn’t dream of stopping you! But the left want to force everybody to pay more in taxes, not just themselves. You want to swap sodomy with another man? I wouldn’t make it illegal; you can do it all you want! But the left not only want to do that, but to require people who don’t approve to ‘honor’ and provide commercial services to celebrate homosexual ‘marriages.’

The left are fascisti to a greater extent than il Duce ever imagined.

This is laughable. Yeah, I’ll take my Social Security when I retire, because the government has forced me to pay in to the system my entire working life. I will take every last farthing to which I am entitled, and would if I had a billion dollars in the bank, because I was required to pay in to the system. The same is true of Medicare when I turn 65, even though I know that I’ll have to buy additional supplement insurance because Medicare doesn’t pay for everything, because the government has been charging me for access to Medicare at age 65 whether I wanted to join or not.

Y’all criticized Ted Cruz for using the Obaminablecare system to get health insurance when his wife took leave from Goldman-Sachs, without realizing that he was required to do so under the law. He obeyed a law to which he objected, and which he wants to repeal, yet y’all saw it as hypocrisy that he obeyed the law.

We are being taxed to support services with which some of us disagree! Why would we not at least try to get our money’s worth, while we work to eliminate those programs?

We are trying to have the law recognize that abortion is murder, though almost none of us actually go out and kill abortionists. I will say it very clearly: I cheered when George Tiller was killed, and I cheered when Kermit Gosnell was caught and stopped. I have said that everyone should shun and ostracize every person who works at an abortion clinic, from the abortionists themselves down to the receptionists to the janitors; we should make their lives as close to a living Hell as we can legally make them, and we should refuse to provide them with any services to make their lives easier.

  17. john says:

is the snow being caused by your PAUSE????

  18. Jeffery says:

    Dava,

    The far-right are fascists.

So you agree that abortion is not murder, yet you cheer the murder of men like Dr. Tiller. Of what crime was Dr. Tiller convicted? Is that the America you want? Killing those with whom you disagree?

We get it. You don’t have the personal courage to stop so-called “baby murders” yourself but you agree with those that do have the cajones to murder those you call murderers. You also support harassing those with whom you have political/religious disagreements, even the janitorial service at Planned Parenthood.

If you could get Rafi Cruz elected, and a filibuster proof Senate and the House, would you favor laws shutting down all abortion clinics and locking up all the workers? Would you enact laws making women who obtained or wanted to obtain abortions “murderers”?

I bet you oppose making birth control more available as well.

This is why the far-right continues to try to rig elections and this is why decent Americans oppose your efforts.

No, abortion is murder. Dr Tiller had been convicted of no crime, just like the slaveowners of the South were guilty of no crime in owning slaves.

This far-rightist believes that your rights extend to the limit at which you harm another person, and the pregnant woman, and the abortionist, have absolute rights, right up until they harm the rights of the other person, in this case, the unborn child. If the pregnant woman is required to bear the child until he is born, then she is being very much inconvenienced for nine months, after which she has every right to surrender her child for adoption. Her temporary inconvenience does not outweigh the life of the child.

George Tiller was a doctor in the same sense that Josef Mengele was a doctor.

Yes. Because we cannot pass an ex post facto law, we would have to ‘forgive’ those abortionists, clinic workers and women who participated in past abortions. But abortions performed after the law was passed and became effective? Yes, all who participated should be arrested, tried and convicted of murder in the first degree.

I bet you oppose making birth control more available as well.

Then you have lost your bet. Contraception is both widely available and very inexpensive in this country, and I would not change that. I would end the government mandate that a health insurance plan must provide contraceptive coverage, with zero copayment, because it infringes on people’s rights not to participate in contraception, and birth control is so inexpensive without it that it can cost more for a couple to brush their teeth for a year than it does for them to use oral contraceptives for the same time.

Some other forms of contraception are sold, over the counter, at pharmacies and grocery stores. The public schools start teaching students about contraception well before the girls are old enough to get pregnant, and many of them practically hand out condoms like candy on Hallowe’en. I don’t see how we could make contraception more available than it already is.

  21. Jeffery says:

I’m pleased that you would not limit birth control by fiat in your fascist vision for America. I’m glad you approve of Planned Parenthood distributing birth control to the poor.

Why do you view birth control as some special issue, though? Why would you not want birth control covered by insurance plans? I don’t like that people smoke – should we not force me to pay for someone’s lung cancer treatments, or smoking cessation treatments? Some think that mental disease is a hoax. Would you exclude those treatments so as not to offend those who think that way? Why pick on birth control?

  22. Jeffery says:

George Tiller was a doctor in the same sense that Josef Mengele was a doctor.

The vast majority of Americans disagree with you. Most Americans believe we should keep abortion rights.

    Abortion is not murder. Murder:
: the crime of unlawfully killing a person especially with malice aforethought

You don’t even believe it as you type it.

Let’s say you and I are at the corner grill having Boston Lager and bacon cheeseburgers and a guy bursts in saying, “The feds are rounding up schoolkids for execution to reduce the surplus population!” I would put down my glass and ask you if you wanted the 870 or the 1100, and off we’d go to our deaths, but defending those kids.

Why don’t you do the same with abortion? You cheer the murder of Dr. Tiller, but refuse to give up your cozy lifestyle to defend babies being murdered?

  23. Jeffery says:
