Obama Turns On Charm To Woo Republicans

Like I said yesterday, this is like a typical abusive relationship. Obama denigrates, insults, and beats Republicans constantly, then for a brief time turns on the charm, buys them dinner, some flowers, a bit of “quality time”, then will soon switch back to floggings when the laundry isn’t done on time

(Washington Post) For more than two years, they have tried to work it out. He went to their place, they came to his. There were moments of hope, but mostly there was strain and heartbreak — the phone call that wasn’t returned, the name-calling on national TV.

Now, once again looking for a way to repair his reality-show relationship with Republicans, President Obama is making the most basic of gentlemanly gestures: a fancy dinner, a lunch date and a promise to come over next week.

Obama is changing course to reset his relationships with Republican lawmakers, hoping for a last chance of breaking Washington’s gridlock before becoming a lame-duck president.

Will Republicans be dopey enough to fall for this?

House Speaker John A. Boehner (R-Ohio) said Thursday that he welcomed Obama’s outreach, even though it means the president is sidestepping him and other party leaders.

“We went through months of campaign-style events all over the country,” Boehner told reporters. “It’s really kind of interesting that this week we’ve gone 180. After being in office for four years, he’s actually going to try to talk to members. . . . I hope something will come out of it.”

Yes, yes they just might be that witless.

Obama’s entreaties could all be for show. Even so, the president’s hand could be strengthened if the public concludes that the man who as a candidate once promised to bring Washington together is seen as having made sincere and humble efforts to bridge divides.

But the minute he isn’t able to get his way he’ll switch back to the insults and attacks, because this is all for show. Republicans have been holding fast about tax increases, and do not seem to be any cracks in that armor.

    The man’s a lying shit-heel. Don’t believe a word he says.

  2. Brian says:

Give it a rest, Teach. In view of the circumstances, Republicans do the best that they that they can do.

Without a veto-proof majority in the
    Senate, their hands are tied.

For which we can thank insufferable know-it-all Tea Partiers, who shunted aside viable candidates in favor of ditzy candidates like Carly Fiorino, Christine O’Donnell and Sharron Angle in 2008.

If you want to ridicule somebody, ridicule ditzy Tea Partiers, not Republican Congressmen, many of whom are doing a fine job.

  3. Brian says:

BTW, in anticipating your specious argument, Marco Rubio and Rand Paul were already way, way out ahead in the polls long before they were endorsed by Tea Partiers (to give themselves credibility, not to give the candidates credibility).

  4. john says:

The radical right wing of teh GOP has alienated America. That is why their poll numbers are so low.

That’s bullshit, John, and you know it. The liars in the MSM are to blame for the poor rap that Republicans are getting.

Well, that, and the fact that androids like you get all of your “news” from the liars on MSNBC and The Jon Stewart Show.

  6. Brian says:

“For which we can thank insufferable know-it-all Tea Partiers, who shunted aside viable candidates in favor of ditzy candidates like Carly Fiorino, Christine O’Donnell and Sharron Angle in 2008.” Oops, 2010, not 2008. I knew it was 2010. I don’t know why I typed 08. Sorry ’bout that.

LOL you can be sure that wizkids Gums and Ditzy-Gitzy couldn’t tell that there was any discrepensy.

  7. gitarcarver says:

In 2010 Tea Party candidates won 62.5% of the elections in which they were entered. By any political or statistical measurement, that’s impressive.

Well, not through the warped political glasses Brian wears.

    How warped is that vision?

While acknowledging the effects of the media on how Republicans are perceived, he doesn’t even consider the effect the media had on Tea Party endorsed candidates. Instead of even bothering to look at the 157 wins, he focuses on three losses.

It appears at times that Brian and john are tied at the hip.

  8. Brian says:

I reiterate, gitarcarver, you are a liar.

62.5%? 157 wins? LOL You’re full of shit. It wasn’t even a third of that.

BTW, shit-for-brains, the msm’s effect on Tea Partiers was an extraneous issue, irrelevant to this discussion. Just more of your usual smoke, mirrors and bullshit. No substance. No facts. Just bullshit.

No wonder John ignores you. You’re a kook. A crackpot. A bore.

44 candidates associated with the Tea Party won their races on Tuesday, of those 44, more than half were Republicans who were so far ahead in the polls already that they would have won anyway, with or without Tea Party support.

    Shall I continue?

I am sorry that you abhor facts Brian and instead feel that somehow attacking the messenger proves your point.

As for the idea that the media’s treatment of the Tea Party was an “extraneous issue,” one must wonder why you felt the treatment of Republicans was important to you in your response to john, but when the same question and standard is applied to the Tea Party, in your mind it doesn’t matter.

The hypocrisy from you is stunning, but predictable.

    Have a nice day.

  11. Brian says:

Don’t try to bullshit me, gitarcarver.

If you’re going to debate issues with me, you better have your facts straight.

Being a blowhard and a bullshit artist isn’t going to cut it with me,

BTW, I just ripped you a new asshole, and you’re too stupid to realize it.

    Thanks for playing, fool.

  12. Brian says:

Even Tea Party organizers concede that they did more harm than good in many races, like in Alaska, where the cutesiness of Tea Partiers from California acting on behalf of little Miss Cutesy herself, Sarah Palin, turned a Rino into a Democrat, as if those damned, blundering fools hadn’t done enough damage already in their own state, California.

  13. Brian says:

Suffice to say, Gitarcarver doesn’t know squat.

Facts? Messenger? What facts and what messenger?

All that I’ve seen from you are smoke, mirrors and bullshit. No facts. No substance. Just lies and distortions.

You’re a real piece of work. A really sick freak.

  15. gitarcarver says:

Facts? Messenger? What facts and what messenger?

Thanks for proving my point that you don’t know what a fact is.

The problem is Brian, like so many people of your ilk, you believe the Tea Party was a national organization like the Republican or Democrat Party. It is not.

    Enjoy your fantasy.

What gibberish. Nothing but senseless drivel. Her reference source is a flaky blog, whose news is, by their own admission, balony that is unfit to print. It’s even pathically bad satire. But then, so is gitarcarver. Bad satire in bad taste.

BTW, shit-for-brains, some would say that since you’ve dug yourself into a deep enough hole already, you ought to stop digging. Just shut up, fool.

  17. Brian says:

Your opinions aren’t facts, you obnoxious creep, and you don’t know squat about the Tea Partiers, or any other issue related to politics.

You and Gums are two of the most uninformed and misinformed fools that I’ve ever seen on any blog.

Oh, and did I mention that you are a compulsive and pathological liar?

In comparing black trash to dumb white trash, the similarities between Obama and you are remarkable. Explains why tou voted for him, and we know that you did, asshole.

  18. Brian says:

All of gitarcarver’s opinions are based entirely on her wishful thinking, on contrived, bogus bullshit (a.k.a., lies), on exaggerations, on distortions, and, of course, on screwy rationales which reinforce her screwy delusions. No substance. No facts. Just bullshit. Why, you know, folks, she could be a Liberal.

    Creepy. Very creepy.

  19. Brian says:

gitarcarver never has her facts straight, and with good reason: That liar makes them up as she goes along.

She is the Energizer Bunny of liars, too. She just keeps going and going and going, embellishing on lies with more lies. Creepy. Very creepy.

Saying that it is so ain’t going to make it so, and it ain’t going to make you any smarter, and it ain’t going to make you feel any better about yourself either.

At the end of the day when all is said and done, you will still feel insecure, inferior, inadequate and stupid, and, alas, you will still be a slimy low-life and a creepy little loser. (sigh)

BTW, if I hadn’t won the argument, you wouldn’t have felt a compulsion to spitefully and childishly lie about it, while hiding behind a sock puppet as a sniveling little coward. Thanks for the idadvertent praise and compliments, you petulant little brat.

How did you put your projection of your self-worth onto me? Oh yes, “a slimy low-life and sniveling, sneaky, little coward hiding behind a sock puppet”. You must feel that way about yourself, you hadn’t had enough information about me to formulate an opinion…from my one comment.
