Culture Of Civility: You TEA Partiers Are The Hezbollah Wing

Here’s a good one for Nice Deb is she starts up her New Tone posts from The NY Times’ Thomas Freidman

Alas, that is the Tea Party. It is so lacking in any aspiration for American greatness, so dominated by the narrowest visions for our country and so ignorant of the fact that it was not tax cuts that made America great but our unique public-private partnerships across the generations. If sane Republicans do not stand up to this Hezbollah faction in their midst, the Tea Party will take the G.O.P. on a suicide mission….

From the same paper and ideology that doesn’t really see Hezbollah itself as a terrorist organization. Calls Islamist terrorists insurgents and militants. But, this is the norm from leftists: they do not see Islamists as a threat or danger. They see fellow Americans with a different point of view as enemies.

More at Weasel Zippers, Gateway Pundit, and Quite Normal. Funny thing is, we all thought the same thing, going right for the “new tone” aspect. I saw this over in the Hot Air headlines.

On many levels this does not make sense.

I am with you in that I thought the left felt Hezbollah was synonymous with the YMCA. So to use a metaphor for evil that you think is good, it just doesn’t add up. Unless it is a Freudian moment and her true thoughts are bubbling to the surface.

Then there is the tax issue. As I remember, we went to war with England over taxes. Then the first income tax was inacted by Lincoln at only 3%. They quickly dropped this and business prospered in the late 1800’s, a time when the US really made its wealth. Then came FDR and he really stuck it to us. His efforts to raise taxes in the early 30’s assured that we would not recover from the depression until the 50’s. Since, every time the feds raise rates, the economy tanks. Reagan is the only president that did the sensable thing and that resulted in prosperity, even with the bumbling efforts of Bush 1 and Clinton.

Currently, no matter what happens, we are in trouble. Taxes were raised with Obamacare and this really destroyed our future. It is only a matter of timing now. We either go fast or slow. I favor fast as this would mean the emergence of efforts at secession, that would mean true freedom and ultimately a return to prosperity.

  2. You don’t like Obamacare? You must be a raaaaacist.

Anyhow, excellent breakdown of the issues, David. Of course, it matters not, because the Dems and Obama think this is a problem that can be solved by simply taxing our way out of it, forgetting that when you raise taxes on people, revenues are never what they think, because people spend….less!
