Docs Who Gave Fake Sick Notes Shocked To Learn This Is Controversial

How could anyone possibly have a problem with falsely handing out sick passes for government workers who have walked off their cushy paying jobs?

Doctors who wrote medical notes over the weekend excusing protesters at the Wisconsin Capitol from work are getting slammed with angry phone calls and profane e-mails from people telling them they deserve to be thrown in jail, one doctor said Sunday.

Well, maybe not jail, but, the appropriate organization should have in inquiry into the ethics of their actions.

One of the doctors was Lou Sanner, 59, who practices family medicine at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. Sanner said he gave out hundreds of notes and that many protesters with whom he spoke seemed to be suffering from stress.

“Some people think it’s a nod-and-a-wink thing but it’s not,” he told The Associated Press on Sunday. “One of the biggest stresses in life is the threat of loss of income, loss of job, loss of health insurance. People have actually been getting ill from this, or they can’t sleep.”

Yet, they are so stressed that they have shown up at the capitol building to protest instead of seeing a competent mental heath worker? I suppose it can be stressful to know that public sector workers might lose a bit of their cushy perks which most in the private sector do not get, and, God forbid, actually have to contribute to their own health insurance and pension accounts. How heartless! But, they should be stressed, because the people of Wisconsin are not on the unions side, and, if a deal is not done, a lot of government workers (who are supposed to work for the People) could lose their jobs.

Madison Schools Superintendent Daniel Nerad, who closed his district’s schools from Wednesday through Friday because so many teachers called in sick, said officials were aware of the doctors’ note-signing station.

“We’re reviewing how we go forward in cases where those types of notes are provided,” he said Sunday. “I don’t know yet what the conclusion will be.”

Actions have consequences.

Furthermore, the University of Wisconsin doesn’t condone what happened, and is planning on looking into the matter in terms of any of their doctors signing what are essentially fake doctors notes. Maybe a doctor could help me out, but, handing out fake notes without an actual examination would seem to be unethical and illegal.

The damage is done, they’ve (democrat lawmakers in WI, teachers in WI and union workers from God knows how many states who are sticking their noses in this fight) shown the children that behaving badly is accepted and expected now.

They’ve shown them that all of these things are okay; 1) lying (calling in sick when you’re not) 2) cheating (getting a doctor, not your own, to write a sick note that is a lie) 3) stealing (accepting a paycheck-paid for with tax $$, no less- for days of work that you don’t have an excuse for but didn’t work and 4) bullying with nasty signs, threats and disgusting rhetoric is acceptable behavior to get whatever it is that you want.

No competent work ethic; well that’s covered by union protection- no need to change a thing. No ethics in your life and your actions, well that’s covered by liberalism, don’t go changing that either.
Being responsible- that’s for other folks, not for liberals in WI.

If you want to do something to the doctors, try this. Obtain any information about the doctor that you can, name, phone number, place of work, etc. Write a letter to the Wis. Board of Medical Examiners. You don’t need to be a resident of the state. Explain that the doctor is providing fraudulent notes. The board is obligated to follow through on all written complaints!! Even if nothing comes of the complaint, the doctor has to fill out paper work for the next five years. A complaint can effect your malpractice payments. If the doctor has written an excuse and does not have an open chart on the patient, he is in a world of hurt. This is a clear ethics violation and would be associated with penalities.

I found it amazing that one doctor could diagnose and excuse hundreds of patients in one afternoon.

And he wonders why we think this is a “wink and a nod” situation?

One final point is that the people that are sending profane emails are out of line. There is no reason or call for that. Do people really think that a doctor or anyone is going to react to a profane email other than by digging in?

Well, I think that they need jail time. they helped defraud the State out of millions in sick pay.

I’d say Lou Stanner, MD, is about to put his stress theory to the test.

I have been a nurse for more years than I want to admit. I am appalled.

Gross ethics violation certainly, maybe aiding and abeting fraud if anybody who recieved the excuse actually tries to turn it in. Most state boards look at this kind of thing unfavorably.

As for punishment, I would expect that the doctors will have some very uncomfortable explaining to do followed by whatever the board decides. Suspention or revocation of license is a very real possibility, I’ve seen that happen for lesser offences. What were they thinking?

The school should immediately suspend the department supervisor who was out there passing out excuses, of all the doctors involved that one should have known that it was unethical and if he didn’t know (or claims to be ignorant), he should still be suspended or demoted for not knowing. What were they teaching the students that day?

We probably won’t know what happens to those doctors, if they lose their license or teaching jobs, their names will be quietly removed from the rolls. If I was them, I’d be updateing my resume.

The technical terms for this are Fraud and Conspiracy to commit fraud. There is surely a further charge of defrauding the state government.
I would also imagine that these “Doctors” who are not shrinks making psychological diagnosis’ would be of some interest to their Malpractice insurance carriers who’s sense of social justice is doubtful.
And now Indiana’s Democratic Legislators have become FLEEBAGGERS.

Liberals are like children. Scold them, and they cry and run away. Or they stick around and call you names. They have no consciences, no values, and no guts, but they do have big mouths.
Let them all run. It’s not doing them any good in the public’s opinion, and the longer they act like spoiled rotten brats, the more information about them is coming out. The real deficit (not the one purported by the lovely Ms Maddow) is coming forward, and the terms of the contract which they act like is an end to schools, which it is not. Salaries and the cost of their benefits, are being posted now; and one Dem from WI is charged with sexual misconduct, that’ll be national news added to the rest of their bad behaviors.
I am glad I don’t live close to WI, or I’d be tempted to protest against the morons. Alas, I can’t afford to lose my job, and don’t think a falsified doctor note from a pseudo physician will do.
