Could 9/11 Debris Field Mosque Receive Public Funding?

Say, where are all the “separation of church and state” weenies now?

The Muslim center planned near the site of the World Trade Center attack could qualify for tax-free financing, a spokesman for City Comptroller John Liu said on Friday, and Liu is willing to consider approving the public subsidy.

The Democratic comptroller’s spokesman, Scott Sieber, said Liu supported the project. The center has sparked an intense debate over U.S. religious freedoms and the sanctity of the Trade Center site, where nearly 3,000 perished in the September 11, 2001 attack.

“If it turns out to be financially feasible and if they can demonstrate an ability to pay off the bonds and comply with the laws concerning tax-exempt financing, we’d certainly consider it,” Sieber told Reuters.

Now, just replace this with “Christian church” or “Synagogue”, and you’d see liberals freaking out. With this, crickets.

Look, the so-called separation of church and state is a complete fiction, however, Jefferson was correct in that government should not fund most religious buildings, particularly ones where prayer will occur.

The reason for the funding, if the center can fill a community need and serve up its services to all people of all races\creeds\and religions. It can not discriminate or tailor its services to one group of people.

Which means… they will get the funding and they will discriminate. Do you really think they will allow a Jew or an atheist eating pork to enter in to their “community center”?

a lot of financing will be coming from the 2nd largest Fox News stockholder so everybody keep watching Fox and support the mosque !!
