Media Deeply Concerned About Missouri Abortion Law, Not So Much About Sharia

A subject I rarely touch on, but, this is not really about abortion, as such. The setup

It’s a question that has perplexed philosophers, theologians and scientists for thousands of years.

Pythagorean Greeks, early Christian church fathers, Talmudic rabbis, Sunni and Shia thinkers, Hindu brahmin and modern bioethicists have grappled with the fundamental, ultimately unknowable, mystery: At what point in our biological development are we infused with a soul? At what point do we become human?

On May 14, the final day of their legislative session, Missouri lawmakers declared the answer, and last month, by withholding his veto, Gov. Jay Nixon signaled that he agreed. On Aug. 28, their answer will become the law of the land.

“The life of each human being begins at conception,” according to Senate Bill 793, which will add new regulations to the state’s 24-hour informed consent law for abortions. “Abortion will terminate the life of a separate, unique, living human being.”

Those words will be displayed “prominently” on brochures that abortion providers will be required to hand out to every woman seeking the procedure — even if they don’t happen to believe the Christian theology the words represent.

Obviously, this simple bit of belief, required in a State that is predominantly Christian, a state in a country that is predominantly Christian, is sure to upset some people. Like those who work for Planned Parenthood, a business that relies on women getting abortions on demand

“Those are not sentiments that all the world’s religions, or all the people in the state, believe in,” said Paula Gianino, president and CEO of Planned Parenthood of the St. Louis Region and Southwest Missouri.

The story then goes to great lengths to show what other religions believe, including those who are practice Islam. Interestingly, the media rarely goes out of their way to highlight what Islam believes about other issues. In this case, we are simply talking about when a life growing inside of a womb becomes a human being, rather than just the joining of living cells. The law simply requires a short phrase to be added to brochures. Nothing massively intrusive or repressive. But, what of Islam, and Sharia law, which the media brushes away as no big deal and “can never happen in the USA” (despite its growing presence in Britain, France, and Germany, among others)?

  • Women are inferior to men.
  • Women should have fewer rights and responsibilities than Larry the Cable Guy.
  • Women count for one-half of a dude in giving evidence in a court of law.
  • Women should be horse whipped if they ever make their husband feel like a dork.
  • Victoria’s Secret Miraculous Bra (with extreme level 5 cleavage) makes God angry.
  • Women can’t say squat in regard to whom they’ll marry, what they’ll wear, where they’ll live, or whether or not they can divorce their cheating and/or abusive husband.
  • Girls can be wed beginning at the ripe old age of frickin’ nine.
  • Women should be cool with hubby having a couple of hoochies or female slaves on the side.
  • Women, on the pretext of “honor,” should be locked up, isolated and unable to have a girls’ night out at Mango’s on Ocean Drive.

Say, where are all the feminists yelling about “my body, my life” when it comes to Islam?

Sharia also forbids abortion What about some outrage on Christians killing child witches in Africa ? Should you Teach be more concerned about what Christians do ? or what other religions may do ? And Teach if you are soooo against Sharia why do you think that we should give 100s of billions to Afghanistan ? Afghanistan has one of the stricktest interpretations of Sharia in the world. Or why not post a photo of Miss Indonesia, which is the most populated Islamic country ? She certainly isn’t “locked up” And in whta ways are teh Haredi and radical muslims alike, besides both throwing acid on women ?

Don’t forget about that judge recently that allowed his Sharia-following Husband to rape his wife…. because it was his religion. This was in USA. Yes, he was overturned, but… another judge that rules without the hint of the Constitution.

He needs to be disbarred immediately.
    What a travesty.

Judge Joseph Charles, in denying the restraining order to the woman after her divorce, ruled that her ex-husband felt he had behaved according to his Muslim beliefs — and that he did not have “criminal desire to or intent to sexually assault” his wife.

In considering the woman’s plea for a restraining order after the couple divorced, Charles ruled in June 2009 that a preponderance of the evidence showed the defendant had harassed and assaulted her, but “The court believes that [defendant] was operating under his belief that it is, as the husband, his desire to have sex when and whether he wanted to, was something that was consistent with his practices and it was something that was not prohibited.”

  4. Why I am not surprised that good Progressive John immediately attacks Christianity, but fails to defend the action of Islam?

Ms. Gianino is entitled to her own beliefs, but not her own facts.

“Abortion will terminate the life of a separate, unique, living human being.”

If what I learned in High School biology back in the ’70’s is correct, the the sperm contributes half of the DNA and the egg the other half, so no matter when you believe life starts, the separate and unique parts are absolutely right, and since if the abortion doesn’t take place it will be a human being, this is not a statement of religious opinion but of biological fact.
