Sen. Inhofe Calls For Investigation Into Climategate, Smacks Gore Around

Senator James Inhofe has a smackdown going that is going to cause climate alarmists fits (via Pajamas Media, just been too busy today to get around to it)

Senator James Inhofe (R-OK) today asked the Obama administration to investigate what he called “the greatest scientific scandal of our generation” — the actions of climate scientists revealed by the Climategate files, and the subsequent admissions by the editors of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Fourth Assessment Report (AR4).

Senator Inhofe also called for former Vice President Al Gore to be called back to the Senate to testify.

“In [Gore’s] science fiction movie, every assertion has been rebutted,” Inhofe said. He believes Vice President Gore should defend himself and his movie before Congress.

Cue the climahysterics throwing out personal attacks and showing that they are the true deniers, and refusing to allow any investigation in 3….2…..1….. Over to Inhofe’s site

The (Climategate) correspondence also reveals a fractured consensus on the state of climate science. Contrary to repeated assertions that the “science is settled,” the emails show the world’s leading climate scientists arguing over critical issues, questioning key methods and statistical techniques, and doubting whether there is “consensus” on the causes and the extent of climate change.

As even some of the most ardent global warming alarmists now admit, the past few months have been bad news for their cause. I suspect climategate is only the beginning.

We all know damned well that the True Believers will NEVER allow any true investigation and debate on the subject, and will do everything they can to squash this, because their theories hypotheses dogmatic beliefs would never stand up to the light of day. And no wonder, since belief in AGW is dropping like mad. Only 31% of Brits believe  “climate change” is definitely a reality now, down from 44% last year.

Perhaps we could actually get real scientific research on the climate and the environment without all the fuzzy thinking climate alarmists running around with their man made, overblown, and agenda driven insanity.

Finally, and this probably deserves a stand alone post of its own, one of the best you have read on the subject, 75 reasons to be skeptical of “global warming.

I strongly support, and even demand, an open and very public debate on the subject. In fact, this type of thing has happened several times. Recently, Tim Lambert has debated Christopher Monckton. About three years ago, there was a debate with Richard Somerville, Brenda Ekwurzel, and Gavin Schmidt on one side, facing Michael Crichton, Richard Lindzen, and Philip Stott on the other.

I used to say, rightly, that the debate has already occurred in the scientific literature, but now there is too much public misinformation. Maybe a very public debate is needed to show how ridiculous the claims being made by you people are.

    Bring it.

Ridiculous claims like the oceans rising ten times faster than they are (actually, they are currently receeding).

Claims about drought situations in the Amazon being much worse than thought (when new science is showing that they went through worse in the past).

Claims that glaciers are receeding 121 times faster than they are (when they were receeding even faster in the late 1800s).

Yep, the IPCC is LOADED with ridiculous claims.

Thank you for more unsubstantiated claims. This is exactly why I’m now convinced that we do need an open and honest debate, in which each party is required to provide substantial proof for the claims they make.
