Richardson And Huckaboom On Bhutto (Plus Paul)

Via Insty, Captain Ed brings the nutroots home

At one point, I considered Bill Richardson the most prepared Democrat for the Presidency, based on his extensive experience in foreign relations, Congress, and the executive branch. That experience doesn’t do much good without common sense, and Richardson keeps proving his lack of it. Today, in responseto the assassination of Benazir Bhutto, he made us all thankful that he doesn’t already occupy the White House.

I, too, thought Richardson was probably the best choice among the Democrat contenders, even predicting way back on the forums I frequent that he would come on strong during the primaries. Alas, poor Yorik, Bill went to the moonbat left, pandering beyond belief, and they have mostly ignored him in favor of Kuchinich. But, what did Billy UFO say?

Democratic New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson, a former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, called on President Bush to force Musharraf to step down. Until then, Richardson said the U.S. must suspend military aid to the Pakistani government.

“A leader has died, but democracy must live. The United States government cannot stand by and allow Pakistan’s return to democracy to be derailed or delayed by violence,” Richardson said.

Hold on a minute, I thought the Left was completely against any sort of intervention in other countries? They sure whine enough about Iraq, and have major league hissy fits over the mere minor thought of military action against Iran. Richardson has slammed Operation Iraqi Freedom many, many times. What does he actually think we would have to do in Pakistan were we to, in essence, depose Mushy?

Huckaboom appears to be pushing for the Democrat nomination with this one

With about 150 supporters crowded around a podium set up on the tarmac of Orlando Executive airport (and about 20 Ron Paul supporters waving signs outside) Mike Huckabee strode out to the strains of “Right Now” by Van Halen and immediately addressed the Bhutto situation, expressing “our sincere concern and apologies for what has happened in Pakistan.”

Say what? Apologize for what, exactly, Mike? Hopefully, he really did misspeak, and meant it in terms of being sympathetic. But, as Insty says, he really is Jimmy Carter.

Good news!Ron Paul was just on Fox News calling for surrender in Iraq and Afghanistan, and to pull all support from Pakistan, as well as just bringing all the troops and such home. He also just blamed America for al Qaeda actions in Pakistan. The more I hear from him, the more I wonder if, given the choice, I would just not vote or vote for the Dem candidate. Paul’s negatives just way outweigh his positives, and the guys foreign policy resembles drunk college kids shooting the shat more then someone who has spent quite a bit of time in the federal Congress.

More: Bryan at Hot Air has the Ron Paul video. Good man! (Bryan, not Ron) To watch, go beneath the fold

And more! The Radio Equalizer catches Russ Feingold blaming Bush and Operation Iraqi Freedom for the assassination. I’m sure this will continue, since Dems love blaming America and Bush for the worlds ills, rather then the people who actually did the bad things.

  1. John Ryan says:

Suspension of military aid = intervention ??
And no “the Left was not”…. anything. If you think that the Left speaks with any kind of a unified voice you are bonkers.
Ty using an indefinite article in front of Left next time if you expect your point to have any validity.

  2. Stacy says:

I’ll say it nicely, unlike John.

    Iraq/Pakistan–apples/oranges.

Richardson being just to the south of us was often spoken of here. He did some good things. It appears he’s chosen to spout rhetoric in order to get press time.

  3. You should probably check your own spelling before you want to play the English Police game, John.

So the left is only for intervention when they can score cheap political points, John?

I thought Richardson was a rather decent gov, Stacy, and would have made a good pres contender for the Dems, till he went around the bend pandering to people like John.

  4. The Assassination of Benazir Bhutto…

It hardly comes as a surprise that Benazir Bhutto was assassinated today. She was assassinated by a suicide bomber. TheyÂ’ve been trying to get her since she returned to Pakistan from her self-imposed exile in hopes of winning a general election in th….
