Banned In India 500 Error

Some people have wondered whether the ban on the websites, as put forth by the India Dept. Of Telecommunications is still in effect. I recently had an interview with a nice you woman for a newspaper article, which should be out this week, regarding this issue.

Well, as far as I can determine, it is in effect. It's just that most of the Indian internet providers are ignoring it, and I suppose that the DoT is not pushing it.

However, every once in awhile I play with proxy IP's. In this case "202.159.203.156 port 80." This is what I recieved:

Yes, yes, a 500 server error can be many things. However, consider. The Jawa Report, Macker's World, Pajama Editors, Common Folks Using Common Sense (old and new address'), MVRWC, Opinipundit and Merri Musings (new address), Yahoo Pictures, and my site all had that 500 error. Yet, several Blogger sites, such as Amy Ridenhours National Center blog and Julie With a B (I tested more) did not. CNN did not. Google did not. Yahoo did not. Several stand alone blogs, such as Moonbattery, Michelle Malkin, Just Raven and Hooah Wife and Friends did not (I did test more, too). Nor did Basil, who uses Dreamhost like I do. Nor did my American Flag League, despite it sort of being part of the piratescove.us domain. Nor did my ncdevil.com/pc test blog, same server as piratescove.us.

Also, several mu nu blogs got the same error. I did not test them all, but everyone I did, bupkiss!

Yet, we still aren't banned in Iran or Saudi Arabia. I played with some alt IP's from them, too. We are just banned by a so called democracy.

And I’m the guinea pig. thanks! ARRRRRRGH!

  2. Woops! I took the screenshot after running through the list, in case the proxy crapped out. That is mine in the middle, though.

    Dhimmocracy.

    Incredible, isn’t it?

  4. It is a crying shame.

I have yet to hear back from anyone in the Indian gov’t. They are too chickshit, apparently.

  5. […] Curiously, in a democracy dhimmocracy, but not (yet?) in Iran or Saudi Arabia. William Teach has an update on the ban. […]

  6. Damn. I want a banned in India stamp on my blog. Please make them ban me!!!

  7. All you need to do is photoshop a Koran being desecrated and email it to the Indian Dept of Telecommunications. That should do it!

I would have payed good money to be one of those tabs in your screenshot. Ughghgh. Sometimes I wish I could get banned in those places; that’s where some of my freakist/kinkiest Google searches come from. That’s what you get for sexually repressing the folks.

  9. Shamalama says:

Before the ban: less than a dozen hits from India.

After the ban: around two dozen hits from India.

I wish I were banned in a lot more places!

  10. William Teach says:

Just have to get a little crazy with some photoshopping, Stacy.

Shamalama, I have have gotten some hits out of them, but not much. Would love to get banned in an English speaking country, say, Canada 🙂
