Stop The ACLU: ACLU Unconstitutional

I find it most instructive that the ACLU, the supposed safeguarder of Civil Rights which are supposedly based on the Constitution, tends to avoid, if not break, the very Rights it says it is safeguarding. Granted, they are not a government agency. However, the ACLU has gone after private companies, have they not?

Consider probable cause. Probable cause is about having some proof. Most judges will not issue a warrant without some proof, right? Judges do not like when those asking for warrants are taking a shot in the dark with what is barely even cirumstantial evidence. The ACLU, on the other had, likes to throw lawsuits, or the threat of lawsuits, around like candy with “evidence” that is “thin, very thin,” as they said in Lethal Weapon.

The American Civil Liberties Union was saying this past week that some New Jersey municipalities might keep lists of potential terrorists. They were implying that those lists might include just about anyone, such as members of peace groups. They were saying that they were going after certain towns.

Among others, they were going after Parsippany.

The implications of the allegations are serious, but more and more this looks like a case of the ACLU, which does a lot of good work, jumping to conclusions. The ACLU stopped commenting about this story late last week, and its officials said they couldn’t give out any more information until this coming week.

The ACLU claims on its Web site that certain Homeland Security grants require towns to provide lists of at least 15 individuals or groups that might be a terror threat. If true, that would put a lot of pressure on some government officials to justify grants. They’d have to come up with a long list of names and organizations and, if they fell short, maybe someone might be tempted to add an anti-government activist.

That apparently is the ACLU’s thinking.

The problem is that there is no substantial reason to believe that the government requires any such list for any of its grants.

Marc Short, a spokesman for the Department of Homeland Security, said there is no such requirement. Parsippany’s police chief, Michael Filippello, said his department never compiled such a list for any grant. And the ACLU has been less than specific.

The ACLU is taking a shot in the dark with this one. They have no evidence to back up their assertion. As a supposed Civil Rights watchdog, wouldn’t it be prudent for them to follow the part of the Bill of Rights regarding forcing people/entities to be witness’ against themselves? That is what the ACLU is trying to force these townships to do: produce evidence, of which the ACLU is conspiracizing (don’t care if it isn’t a word) they have, to convict themselves.

The ACLU is pulling the same stunt in filing Freedom Of Information Act requests that allege that the government is spying on “Peace Groups.” The have no actual proof, just rumor, innuendo, and conspiracy theories by so called peace activists.

Yes, this is a bit of a stretch. But, should not the self named safeguarder of Civil Rights be held to the same standards that they say they want to hold the government to? Or is this just more of the Liberal “do as I say, not as I do” attitude?

The supposed “safeguarder of Civil Rights” has somehow missed the boat, as usual. Here they go again, on the wrong side of the issue.

I certainly hope that one of these days, the ACLU will figure out who are the victims and who are the perps. Have a good day.

    Respectfully,

Communists do not tell The Truth.

  3. The ACLU hasn’t strayed far from their original roots as protectors of Communists, have they.

  4. joated says:

And when they file these FOIA requests and get nothing from their fishing expedition they will cry, “Cover up! Conspiracy! Why are you hiding this information!” Then they will go running for the donation box.

  5. William Teach says:

Of course. And the Defeatocrats will follow right along and donate like lemmings.
