Happy Friday to all! It’s that time of the week again! Do you have an interesting post you want to share with everyone? The official Surrender Monkey of the Democratic Party says to do what the Lefties don’t, since they all have the same talking points: link it!

U.S. Rep. John Murtha, one of the most outspoken congressional critics of the Iraq war, yesterday said he saw signs of significant military progress during a brief trip to the Middle East last week. But he warned that Iraqis need to play a larger role in providing their own security and the Bush administration must develop an exit strategy.
“I think the ‘surge’ is working,” Mr. Murtha, a Democrat, said in a video conference from his Johnstown office, describing the president’s decision to commit nearly 30,000 additional troops at the beginning of the year. “But the thing that has to happen is the Iraqis have to do this themselves. We can’t win it for them.”
Bet you never thought you would read that one, eh? Of course, if I was a cynical person, I might wonder if he was saying it for some ulterior motive, such as being able to shift the blame from the troops to the Iraqi government, creating a different meme to call for retreat and defeat
Iraqis need to duplicate that success at the national level, but the central government in Baghdad is “dysfunctional,” Mr. Murtha said. He spoke of the frustrations expressed by the top American military and civilian commanders in Iraq, Gen. David Petraeus and Ambassador Ryan Crocker, who have been pushing Iraqi leaders to use the lull in violence to make political progress, especially in relations between Shiite and Sunni Muslims.
We have seen that meme coming from Democrats quite a bit lately, complaining about the political progress, but, we should at least give kudos to Murtha for saying the Surge is working, which most Dems won’t.
In all fairness, the Iraqi government seems to be getting about as much done as our Congress. Meaning, not much. Naming post offices doesn’t count as actual work.
Captain Ed writes of the lack of political progress (in Iraq, not the US Congressional building, of course)
No thanks to Murtha and his defeatist ilk in Congress, of course. If the Congressional Democrats had had their way in January, we would have abandoned the Iraqis to the terrorists and left behind a failed state and destroyed credibility.

It could be that the winds of change are blowing his Lifer status into the Abyss of Obscurity and the challenge to the DIShonorable Toad Murtha by Lt. Col. William Russell has him worried a tad. Or, it could be that the lawsuit against him over his self-induced quagmire of ignorance, stupidity and blatant lies for political opportunism, is getting to him and perhaps he just won’t be able to get the US Justice Dept on his side.
