NBC New Shocked To Learn That Islamists Are Radicalized Online

‘A perfect storm’: Extremism online and political polarization are increasing the risk of attacks, experts say

The ISIS-inspired attack in New Orleans underscores how extremism online and political divisions at home have created “a perfect storm” for radicalization in America, experts say, with law enforcement struggling to track an increasingly fractured threat.

Finding and accessing extremist communities online has never been easier, the threat has never been higher, and the ideology of those carrying out attacks has never been more splintered, according to the experts.

“What the FBI and law enforcement in general are dealing with right now is a threat landscape that is both diverse and complicated,” said Seamus Hughes, a senior researcher and policy associate with the National Counterterrorism Innovation, Technology, and Education Center at the University of Nebraska Omaha. “That makes things a little harder for law enforcement.”

“We have a level of polarization in the U.S. that’s an important factor,” he said. “The online environment has algorithms that are set up to make you angry. And all that is playing into a perfect storm of factors that are leading to an increase in radicalization.”

What they really mean by polarization is you big old meanie Conservatives, even as they note, sort of, who’s doing this

According to the federal government, the main terror threat to the U.S. now is lone actors inspired by extremism ideology. Those ideologies range widely. The majority of attackers are on the far right, as in the 2022 Buffalo supermarket shooting. But sometimes, as in the New Orleans attack, the driving ideology is radical Islamism. Occasionally, it’s far-left or anti-Trump, as in the 2017 attack on Republican members of Congress and staffers at a baseball practice outside Washington and the apparent assassination attempt of Trump in Florida last year, or at other times a mix of ideologies, what FBI Director Christopher Wray has called “salad bar extremism.”

And the two who tried to kill Trump weren’t exactly on the right, now, were they? The idea of the article is, shockingly, an attempt to protect the Religion of Peace, claiming that 364 attacks came from white supremacists and 137 came from “anti-government” (weird we almost never hear about them), but, only 125 came from Islamists. Except for all those who were protesting Israel and Jews and attacking them. Oh, and just 47 from left wing. This is all about protecting the Islamic radicals, who, surprise, who be happy to blow up NBC buildings and do not care what political persuasion one is if they are Americans and Jews.

“We’re seeing more and more people sort of pick and choose their own ideology to suit their own grievances,” Horgan said. “They look to find a reason to make sense of what they have already decided they want to do.”

You mean like people who do not understand basic biology and are gender deranged? Much further down, though, we learn

After several years of reduced activity in the U.S., 2024 saw a rise in Islamist terror attacks and foiled plots, according to the Anti-Defamation League’s Center for Extremism, which tracks extremist attacks and confirmed plots around the country.

That shift had the center’s vice president, Oren Segal, worried even before the New Orleans attack, he said. “It was alarming to us that after subsiding for so many years, there were indications that more and more people who subscribe to this ideology were willing to try to engage in this activity.”

“Part of this may be in response to groups abroad regrouping, part of it may be to the Israel and Palestinian conflict,” he said. “There were many signs that this type of activity was increasing.”

This could have anything to do with the Biden-Harris admin letting in tons of people of whom we have no idea who they are. We do know that lots are from the Middle East and Muslim extremist nations. All added to the Islamic extremists already in the nation and preaching jihad. Perhaps news outlets like NBC News should see the reality, rather than attempting to protect jihadis.

Group Which Doesn’t Believe In God Due To Science! Drives Out Most Famous Member Over Gender Ideology

Science! makes them not believe in God but they also believe there are not two genders

Richard Dawkins leaves atheist foundation after it unpublishes article saying gender based on biology

Famed biologist Richard Dawkins resigned from the board of a prominent U.S. atheist organization last week, after it censored an article arguing that gender is tied to biology.

British outlet The Telegraph reported Monday that the Freedom From Religion Foundation pulled the article “Biology is not Bigotry” from its site following backlash from pro-trans individuals. In turn, Dawkins resigned.

In his resignation letter to the foundation, Dawkins called the removal of the piece “an act of unseemly panic” and accused the foundation of having “caved in to hysterical squeals from predictable quarters and retrospectively censored that excellent rebuttal.”

Biologist and fellow FFRF member Jerry Coyne composed the “censored” article as a rebuttal to non-binary author and FFRF fellow Kat Grant’s November article titled, “What is a Woman?”

The biologist’s piece argued that “any attempt to define womanhood on biological terms is inadequate.”

Coyne’s article pretty much stated that biology states that there is male and there is female. That’s it. That’s the science. Sure, there are some aberrations, but, there are not 935 different genders. Male. Female. Female. Male. XY. XX. Because Coyne deals with science, they unpublished his article. God forbid an opposing point of view is heard.

“Publishing this post was an error of judgment, and we have decided to remove it as it does not reflect our values and principles. We regret any distress caused by this post and are committed to ensuring it doesn’t happen again,” they wrote.

It’s now an error in judgement to publish Biology 101.

[Coyne] added, “The gender ideology which caused you to take down my article is itself quasi-religious, having many aspects of religions and cults, including dogma, blasphemy, belief in what is palpably untrue (‘a woman is whoever she says she is’), apostasy, and a tendency to ignore science when it contradicts a preferred ideology.”

That’s a slap in the face of Atheists.

Democrat Rep From Virgin Islands Earns Dumbest Person Of The Year Nomination

Will Stacey Plaskett win? It is super early in the year, plenty of time for other nominees

CSPAN gets a nomination for worst media outlet for failing to explain exactly why she was wrong, namely that the US Virgin Islands are a territory, not a state, and that’s the way they want it, much like Puerto Rico and Guam. One would think CSPAN would know better. Plaskett does have a voice, it’s loud, and inappropriate, considering she’s been in Congress since 2015, a lawyer, and should know better.

But, no worries, MSNBC, a dying Credentialed Media outlet (just barely), joins in with their own version of stupidity. No worries, this is the Yahoo News version, so, they get no hits

Time for derp owls

We’re just three days into 2025, and Stacey Plaskett has already filed a strong entry for this year’s “top truth-teller in Congress” award.

You may have missed her powerful moment from Friday’s House speakership vote if you’re not a C-SPAN junkie like me, but you ought to see it. The Democrat from the U.S. Virgin Islands made a parliamentary inquiry to ask the House parliamentarian to explain why the six nonvoting delegates from U.S. territories and the District of Columbia aren’t allowed to vote for speaker.

Yeah, 2015. Lawyer. Has she heard of Google? Did she consider reading the rules? No, she was just trying to grandstand. Here’s where it gets even more stupid

The parliamentarian’s response was, in essence, “Them’s the rules.”

There was certainly no moral justification offered, so what Plaskett essentially did was give viewers and her colleagues a textbook lesson in American imperialism. And it was quite a sight to see her being booed by Republicans for doing so.

Here we are in the United States, a country that salutes its founders for their refusal to live under British imperialism. And nearly 250 years after bloodshed over this, a Black woman who dared to question why the U.S. is foisting similar imperialism on her and her people was literally silenced.

This was a remarkable snapshot that perfectly summarizes our current political moment.

Those territories could have voted to be states, but, they didn’t. They’re happy being American protectorates. Oh, and not paying all those federal taxes that the US Congress has voted for. Huh. What she wants is representation without taxation.

Brandon-Harris Admin Issues Regulation Ending Huge Chunk Of Gas Water Heaters

The Biden administration finalized climate regulations to ban most natural gas-powered instantaneous water heaters—a move that critics say will drive up costs for consumers.

The Department of Energy—which formally published the rules the day after Christmas—didn’t issue a press release announcing the action, a departure from past appliance regulations. The published rules say the regulations are expected to help the climate by curbing carbon dioxide emissions.

Overall, under the regulations, roughly 40 percent of the new tankless water heaters available in the United States today will be taken off the market by 2029. Experts and industry officials say that will force consumers to purchase either more expensive or less efficient water heater models.

One industry analysis estimates that consumers will pay $450 more on average when purchasing new water heaters thanks to the regulations. And that will impact low-income and senior households, which are most reliant on the models targeted by the Department of Energy.

In fairness, the use of gas for water heaters has dropped tremendously over the past 40 years, as most new construction uses electricity not gas. But, many still want it, especially in more rural areas. And those tankless water heaters save people a lot of money. Also in fairness, electric are more cost effective than gas, except in larger houses, for which gas is much better. Biden doesn’t care. There are many older homes which do use gas, and it will be much more expensive to replace their systems.

And, really, it shouldn’t be up to the federal government, especially bureaucrats with an Agenda, to ban consumer goods which are only dangerous per doomsday cult yammerings. I can see this rule being brought to court, and, barring a win, the Trump admin rescinding the rule.

Good News: Federal Judges Squash Biden’s Net Neutrality

Net Neutrality is a bad idea, that will damage innovation, increase prices, and give the federal government way too much power over the Internet, classifying it as a public, just like the energy sector. The minute the government took their hand off home phone service, along with long distance, that sector exploded, leading to the explosion of wireless phones. The internet has just been fine without the helping hand of government

Net neutrality dealt a final defeat in a blow to Democrats

A U.S. appeals court ruled on Thursday the Federal Communications Commission did not have legal authority to reinstate landmark net neutrality rules.

The decision is a blow to the outgoing Biden administration that had made restoring the open internet rules a priority. President Joe Biden signed a 2021 executive order encouraging the FCC to reinstate the rules.

A three-judge panel of the Cincinnati-based 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals said the FCC lacked authority to reinstate the rules initially implemented in 2015 by the agency under Democratic former President Barack Obama, but then repealed by the commission in 2017 under Republican former President Donald Trump.

Net-neutrality rules require internet service providers to treat internet data and users equally rather than restricting access, slowing speeds or blocking content for certain users. The rules also forbid special arrangements in which ISPs give improved network speeds or access to favored users.

The court cited the Supreme Court’s June decision in a case known as Loper Bright to overturn a 1984 precedent that had given deference to government agencies in interpreting laws they administer, in the latest decision to curb the authority of federal agencies. “Applying Loper Bright means we can end the FCC’s vacillations,” the court ruled.

Good thing that Trump was able to put all those Constitutional judges on the Supreme Court, eh? Further, there is zero chance that the FCC will try to reinstate it over the next 4 years, and no way would it be possible for Congress to pass it, if the Democrats happen to take back the House and Senate after the 2026 elections.

FCC Chair Jessica Rosenworcel called on Congress to act after the decision. “Consumers across the country have told us again and again that they want an internet that is fast, open, and fair. With this decision it is clear that Congress now needs to heed their call, take up the charge for net neutrality, and put open internet principles in federal law,” Rosenworcel said in a statement.

Yeah, not happening, Democrat Jessica. If you explain the realities of what NN means most will say “nope. Keep your dirty stinking hands off the Internet, you damned Fascists!”

Biden Looks To Permanently Ban Oil Drilling Federal Waters Or Something

This is the same guy who jumps in a fossil fueled helicopter to ferry him a few miles away to jump on a FF jumbo jet to fly to Delaware with a backup FF jumbo jet and fighter jets, then drive in a FF limo with a large convoy of FF SUVs, right?

Biden Expected to Permanently Ban Oil Drilling in Some Federal Waters

President Biden is expected to permanently ban new oil and gas drilling in large sections of the Atlantic and Pacific oceans, as well as other federal waters, in a way that could be difficult for the Trump administration to unwind, according to two people familiar with the plans.

Mr. Biden intends to invoke an obscure provision of a 1953 law, the Outer Continental Shelf Lands Act, that would give him wide latitude to withdraw federal waters from future oil and gas leasing, said the people. They spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the policy publicly.

The move would also cement Mr. Biden’s legacy on climate change as he prepares to leave the White House after a single term. President-elect Donald J. Trump has pledged to reverse virtually every law and regulation aimed at curbing carbon dioxide emissions, and to make it easier for companies to produce and burn more coal, oil and gas.

If Brandon is trying to stick it to Trump, he’s really sticking it to the American People

While section 12(a) of the Outer Continental Shelf Lands Act gives a president wide leeway to bar drilling, it does not include language that would allow Mr. Trump or any future president to revoke a ban.

That was tested after President Barack Obama banned offshore drilling in parts of the Arctic Ocean and dozens of canyons in the Atlantic Ocean. During his first term in office Mr. Trump tried to revoke the ban. In 2019, U.S. District Court Judge Sharon Gleason in Alaska ruled that Mr. Obama’s ban could not be undone without an act of Congress.

Have they considered that the Trump admin could simply allow way more drilling in those areas which were not put under ban? I wonder if Trump can restrict Biden from using federal funds to purchase fossil fuels as he moves around as an ex-president? The question here is whether Trump will care? He’s not a big fan of offshore drilling. He’s more about on-land drilling. Also, will the GOP run Congress try and restore the ability to drill in those areas? If they were smart, what they would do would be to focus on allowing companies to build refineries. Ones that are more efficient and cleaner.

Bummer: Anchor Babies Worry Parents Will Be Deported Due To College Financial Aid Forms

If you immigrate legally and are going through the naturalization process, or are here on a visa, you are ineligible for government financial help. You have to be able to take care of yourself. Unlike with migrants/illegals. In this case, the parents are illegally present in the U.S. and had at least one anchor baby in an attempt to not get deported

College-bound students fear ‘outing’ undocumented parents on FAFSA financial aid form

A few days before winter break, Lynda McGee, a college counselor at Downtown Magnets High School in Los Angeles Unified, got an unexpected visit from a student’s father.

The man, a warehouse worker who emigrated from Guatemala 28 years ago, wanted to make sure that McGee knew his wishes firsthand.

“My daughter going to college is more important than my risk of deportation,” he said in Spanish as the student, a high school senior, translated.

He’s been here 28 years and hasn’t learned English? Really? I mean, that is like an intentional attempt to refuse to assimilate.

He insisted that McGee help the teen, a U.S.-born citizen, fill out the FAFSA, or the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, which is used by college-bound students to calculate all-important financial aid packages. But the application asks for parents’ Social Security numbers, which the father does not have because he is not a legal resident. A missing number could be a red flag about the father’s immigration status ahead of the inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump, who has vowed to track down and deport undocumented immigrants.

“Unfortunately, I have dozens of students in this same situation,” McGee said. “They have to choose between their future and that of their parents.”

They need to be blaming the parents for that.

Submitting financial aid forms this college application season has become a potentially life-altering family decision for California high school seniors with undocumented parents — a predicament also faced by many college students because FAFSA forms generally must be submitted annually to determine ongoing aid.

Their parents put them in this situation.

One of the top pupils in her class, the student lives with her parents in Koreatown and dreams of one day working in the film industry. She’s applied to UCLA, Stanford, Cornell and several Cal State campuses. But she has hit pause on submitting the FAFSA because of fear it could hurt her family.

“Why does Trump getting elected mean I might have to suffer as a citizen for my parents’ choice of moving to a better life in America?” said the student, who requested that her name be withheld to avoid identifying her parents.

See, it’s Trump’s fault that her parents broke US law and continue to break the law by being illegally present in the U.S. Oh, hey, perhaps she might have considered getting a job to earn the money to pay for college? Oh, right, because the next thing is that she’s demanding that her student loan debt be cancelled.
