The barking moonbat, federal judge Indira Talwani, already put a 14 day temporary order in a week ago, then doubled down thinking it was all about the 1st and 5th Amendments. And thinking the SCOTUS ruling about district judge orders not applying nationwide didn’t apply to her order. And she really thinks she is in charge of the federal power of the purse

Federal judge blocks Trump administration from defunding some Planned Parenthood facilities

A judge on Monday temporarily blocked the Trump administration from stripping some Medicaid funds from Planned Parenthood after Congress and President Donald Trump agreed to partially defund the nonprofit through passage of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act.

Judge Indira Talwani of the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts said in her order partially granting a preliminary injunction that the bill unconstitutionally punishes Planned Parenthood member organizations that do not provide abortions.

The injunction will risk “at most minimal harm—financial or otherwise” to the Trump administration while the lawsuit proceeds, Talwani, an Obama appointee, wrote.

The judge’s order appears to apply to some but not all Planned Parenthood facilities. The nonprofit said in a statement that it viewed Talwani’s order as a partial win and remained “hopeful” that the judge would take further judicial action down the line.

“This isn’t over,” the organization said. “While we’re grateful that the court recognized the harm caused by this law, we’re disappointed that not all members were granted the necessary relief today.”

Talwani does realize that this is not the Trump administration doing this, but, the duly elected Legislative Branch which passed a law that no longer allows public funds to be used for abortion providers, right? Or, is she that Trump deranged? Eh, why am I asking, of course she’s that Trump deranged.

Talwani’s order arose from a lawsuit brought by Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion provider, over the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, a massive budget bill that passed Congress this month with no Democrat support. Trump signed the bill into law on July 4.

A provision in the bill stripped Medicaid funding from Planned Parenthood, which the nonprofit said could force it to close about 200 of its 600 facilities and deprive about half of its customers, more than one million people, of services that do not include abortion.

PP makes about $1.5 billion a year, gross. They’ll be just fine losing the half billion they get yearly. Certainly liberal supporters can pony up the money, right?

The judge noted that her injunction applied to Planned Parenthood entities that do not provide abortion services or receive less than $800,000 in annual Medicaid reimbursements.

She thinks she can create a nationwide injunction. And is in charge of Congressional appropriations. Crazy people.

Trump bill takes a ‘big, beautiful’ bite out of US climate progress

The megabill President Trump signed into law this month is expected to make a major dent in the U.S.’s climate progress, adding significantly more planet-warming emissions to the atmosphere.

Models of the legislation that have emerged since its passage earlier this month show U.S. emissions will rise as a result of its implementation.

One from climate think tank C2ES found U.S. emissions will be 8 percent more than they would have been otherwise as a result of the package.

“An 8% increase in our emissions is … still a massive amount of emissions,” said Brad Townsend, the group’s vice president for policy and outreach.

Taking into account all of the efforts to reduce U.S. emissions over the last 20 years, Townsend said, the bill represents “rolling back a third of that progress with a stroke of a pen.”

Why is it necessary for Government to mandate everything? Why can’t private citizens and companies who Believe do their part? It’s unnecessary for government to force citizens to comply, especially when the people passing the laws and making the regulations do not do what they tell everyone else to do.

Its most significant provisions repeal tax credits for climate-friendly energy technologies including wind and solar energy, as well as electric vehicles.

I’ll be honest, I see no problem with keeping the tax credits. It’s not hurting anyone, and, lets citizens keep more of their hard earned money. Heck, have more credits for individuals and small businesses who install solar panels, rather than big companies.

It also repeals programs that would have paid for low-carbon and anti-pollution projects, including in underserved neighborhoods.

I do have a problem with these programs, because they’re basically a way to hook up friendly NGOs and companies with government cash to do very little work. These scams need to die a painful death.

ICE head says agency to crack down on American companies hiring unauthorized workers

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) acting Director Todd Lyons said in an interview Sunday that his agency will crack down on American companies hiring unauthorized workers.

“Not only are we focused on those individuals that are, you know, working here illegally, we’re focused on these American companies that are actually exploiting these laborers,” Lyons said on CBS News’s “Face the Nation.”

“These people that came here for a better life. You know, either, you know, forced labor, child trafficking, you know, a lot of these work site cases — just isn’t a victimless crime of someone here working illegally,” he added. “And that’s why we’re going there with these criminal warrants to focus on these American businesses that are trying to make an extra dollar on the backs of these people that came here for a better life.”

In the first few months of his second term, President Trump and his administration have heavily cracked down on immigration, drawing criticism from Democrats and advocates.

Yeah, well, they’re going to be complaining more when the federal government arrests them for knowingly employing illegal aliens. But, there have been many examples of employers getting hit, like here, here, here, and here. There could be a whole lot more coming.

I still maintain that we need to go back to a system where people are allowed to come to the US for a period, work in the fields and building homes and stuff, and then go home in under a year. Then they can come back the next season. If they fail to leave they are deported and banned from coming to the US for 5 years. This used to work well. Companies should be responsible for making sure they have healthcare and that they know when they have to leave.

Philly Democrats Super Upset Over SEPTA Losing Federal Funding

What is SEPTA?

SEPTA, the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority, is a regional public transportation authority that operates bus, rapid transit, commuter rail, light rail, and electric trolleybus services for nearly four million people throughout five counties in and around Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It also manages projects that maintain, replace, and expand its infrastructure, facilities, and vehicles.

How much does it cost?

The $1.69 billion FY 2024 Operating Budget uses SEPTA’s final installment of federal COVID relief funding that has helped to avoid service cuts and fare increases associated with pandemic-induced revenue losses.

Why were they using COVID funds for this? Sounds like an abuse?

(SpotlightPA) Gov. Josh Shapiro will route $153 million in federal highway funding to SEPTA to help the struggling transit agency avoid — at least temporarily — deep service cuts and hefty fare hikes.

That was November 2024. Instead of using the highway funding correctly he pissed it away on SEPTA. And, really, it makes no money, even while charging users more and more. There’s a plan to cut service by 45% and increase fares by 20%, all because the feds have cut money. I mean, maybe there’s a reason states and cities shouldn’t rely on federal funding for everything? That the fed govt should focus on core mission and leave everything else to the states? That the citizens of other states shouldn’t see their tax money go to things like this? That citizens should see their federal taxes go way down, used only to fund those core duties, while more should go directly to the states for state things?

If Pennsylvania wants to do all this and hook up people in a small region, raise the state taxes. And maybe audit how the money is spent.

Too bad Democrats just never learn that we are a federal republic, and most things should be done by, and funded by, the states.

“Our ability to respond to climate change, the biggest existential threat facing humanity, is totally adrift,” said Sally Johnson, an Earth scientist who has spent the past two decades helping collect, store and distribute data at Nasa (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) and Noaa (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration).

Donald Trump’s assault on science – but particularly climate science – has led to unprecedented funding cuts and staff layoffs across federally funded agencies and programs, threatening to derail research tackling the most pressing issues facing Americans and humanity more broadly. A generation of scientific talent is also on the brink of being lost, with unprecedented political interference at what were previously evidence-driven agencies jeopardizing the future of US industries and economic growth.

Johnson was among scores of scientists conducting vital research across a range of fields from infectious diseases, robotics, education, computer science and the climate crisis, who responded to a Guardian online callout to share their experiences about the impact of the Trump administration’s cuts to science funding.

They say it’s vital, but, really, what have they provided that can’t be done better in the private sector? And what’s this “our ability to respond”? None of them practice what they preach. All their policies revolve around government forcing citizens to do things they may not want to do, taking their money, and taking their life choices away.

Many said they had already had funding slashed or programs terminated, while others fear that cuts are inevitable and are beginning to search for alternative work – either overseas or outside science. So far, the cuts have led to a 60% reduction in Johnson’s team, and fear is mounting over the future of 30 years of climate data and expertise as communities across the country are battered by increasingly destructive extreme weather events.

If what they’re doing is so gosh-darned important you’d think private sector companies and organizations would be snapping them up, right? They wouldn’t have to give up “science”, right?

“We won’t be able to afford to continue providing the free and quality tools and services to make our data stores searchable, viewable, usable, and accessible. We might not even be able to afford to keep all the data … this will mean worse forecasts and less effective search and rescue responses leading to unnecessary and avoidable loss of life,” said Johnson (not her real name).

It’s not free: the government takes taxpayer money to do this, whether they like it or not.

“This is a disaster for all of us. We’re all depressed and living on a knife-edge, because we know we could lose the rest of our grants any day. These people really hate us yet all we’ve done is work hard to make people’s health better. A flu pandemic is coming for us, what’s happening in cattle is truly scary and all we have is oxygen and hope for people,” said the Ohio scientist.

New York Democrats Wonder What To Do About Socialist/Islamist Mamdani

New York establishment Democrats mull over Mamdani charm offensive

Marxism and SocialismNew York Democrats cool to their party’s Big Apple mayoral nominee Zohran Mamdani are weighing their options as the 33-year-old progressive makes his own pitch to centrists that they should back him.

The Democratic establishment has been looking for alternatives, but none really satisfy.

Former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo last week announced an independent run after losing the Democratic primary to Mamdani, but a number of Democrats who spoke to The Hill have doubts he can win. Some also haven’t forgotten past Cuomo controversies.

Incumbent Eric Adams is also running as an independent, but he has had a scandal-tarred career and his tilting toward MAGA and Trump World hasn’t won him too many friends in the Democratic establishment.

Obviously, Cuomo is a terrible person. Democrats caused Adams to move a bit toward Trump World after Democrats went after Adams with their lawfare. Don’t forget, Mamdani won that ranked-choice closed primary with pretty low turnout.

Political observers say there aren’t enough moderates to go around for one — let alone two candidates — and if the establishment wants to prevail, either Adams or Cuomo should exit the race.

“You can’t have multiple alternatives,” said Grant Reeher, the director of Syracuse University’s Campbell Public Affairs Institute. “I just don’t see any way that Mamdani doesn’t win unless one of these folks drops out.”

“If I was a Democratic strategist for the whole party in New York City, and I commanded authority, I would put Adams and Cuomo in a room, and I would say, ‘You guys are going to flip a coin,’” he added.

Even if there were moderates in the Democrat party, it’s rather too late. Interestingly, with Adams out Cuomo leads the race over Mamdani and Republican Curtis Sliwa. Mamdani will be even more of a nightmare than wackadoodle Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. He may claim he’s a socialist like her and her DSA friends, but, he’s really a stealth Islamist, who hates Israel, hates Jews, and hates America. He supports Islamic extremism. If he wins the Jews will leave NYC along with all the rich folks who create businesses and jobs. Who donate to all sorts of charities in NYC.

There is, of course, always the city council who can put the kibosh on Mamdani and his extremist agenda. Will they? Or will they turn NYC into Islamist London?

Bummer: Only Three Years Left To Save The World From Climate Doom

Only 3 years left – new study warns the world is running out of time to avoid the worst impacts of climate change

Bad climate news is everywhere. Africa is being hit particularly hard by climate change and extreme weather, impacting lives and livelihoods.

We are living in a world that is warming at the fastest rate since records began. Yet, governments have been slow to act.

The annual global climate change conference of the parties (COP30) is just months away. All of the 197 countries that belong to the United Nations were supposed to have submitted updated national climate plans to the UN by February this year. These plans outline how each country will cut its greenhouse gas emissions in line with the legally binding international Paris Agreement. This agreement commits all signatories to limiting human-caused global warming to no more than 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels.

Governments must also bring their newly updated national climate action plans to COP30 and show how they plan to adapt to the impacts that climate change will bring.

Is this the same COP30 where they’re cutting down the Amazon to build roads to get the 40K attendees from the airport to the convention?

In Africa, the UN is hosting UNFCCC Climate Week in Addis Ababa in September. As well as making plans for COP30, there will be sessions on accessing climate finance and ensuring that the transition to zero human-caused carbon emissions by 2050 (net zero) is just and equitable. The summit also aims to support countries that are still working on their national climate plans.

I wonder how many thousands, or tens of thousands, are going to be taking fossil fueled flights to Ethiopia for this? Anyhow, you’ve seen the prognostications before, but, a few more

Weird: Illinois Kicking Illegals Off Medicaid To Save Money

For nearly 20 years, Maria would call her sister — a nurse in Mexico — for advice on how to manage her asthma and control her husband’s diabetes instead of going to the doctor in California.

She didn’t have legal status, so she couldn’t get health insurance and skipped routine exams, relying instead on home remedies and, at times, getting inhalers from Mexico. She insisted on using only her first name for fear of deportation.

Things changed for Maria and many others in recent years when a handful of Democrat-led states opened up their health insurance programs to low-income immigrants regardless of their legal status. Maria and her husband signed up the day the program began last year.

“It changed immensely, like from Earth to the heavens,” Maria said in Spanish of Medi-Cal, California’s Medicaid program. “Having the peace of mind of getting insurance leads me to getting sick less.”

That’s weird, the tweet mentioned the People’s Republik Of Illinois, but, the article starts out with California

At least seven states and the District of Columbia have offered coverage for immigrants since mostly 2020. But three of them have done an about-face, ending or limiting coverage for hundreds of thousands of immigrants who aren’t in the U.S. legally in California, Illinois and Minnesota.

The programs cost way more than officials had projected at a time when the states are facing multibillion-dollar deficits now and in the future. In Illinois, adult immigrants ages 42-64 without legal status have lost their health care to save an estimated $404 million. All adult immigrants in Minnesota no longer have access to the state program, saving nearly $57 million. In California, no one will automatically lose coverage, but new enrollments for adults will stop in 2026 to save more than $3 billion over several years.

I’ve also been reliably told that Republicans hate illegals/migrants and want them to die, while Democrats are super charitable. Yet, they are taking healthcare away from them.
