We Can Fight Russian Aggression By Decarbonizing Or Something

You know what? You first, climate cult chumps at the San Francisco Chronicle

Want to fight Russian aggression in Ukraine and beyond? Decarbonize

st greta carOn Monday, a day Russian rockets and artillery were falling on Ukrainian towns and cities, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change put out its most alarming report to date, warning that fossil fuel driven climate change has already “led to some irreversible impacts as natural and human systems are pushed beyond their ability to adapt.” (snip)

Yet, when the Biden administration first announced these sweeping sanctions, many analysts noted the huge exception for energy-related financing. This means that any transactions involving Russian fossil fuel exports — the core of the Russian economy — remain exempt from sanctions. (snip)

President Biden is right to worry about the impact of high energy prices on the U.S. and global economies, especially with inflation already taking a toll. But the reason that Russia holds so much leverage is because we have done so little to decarbonize since the oil embargoes of the 1970s, imposed by OPEC during the 1973 Arab-Israeli war. Even the European Union countries (that have done much more to green their energy use) are incredibly dependent on Russian natural gas, particularly Germany, putting them in a very vulnerable position.

Or, we could stop importing and drill our own. We could work with Canada, as well.

Why has the U.S. fared so poorly in weaning itself off oil, particularly since solar and wind are now cheaper to bring online in most regions than coal, oil and gas?

The reasons are complex, but the usual suspects are mostly to blame — fossil fuel corporations with their decades of lies and misinformation, and the politicians and parties, particularly the Republican Party, which have nested comfortably in their pockets.

But, mostly because they are cheap, reliable, dependable, and affordable, so much so that most climate cultists refuse to give up their own fossil fueled vehicles, boats, motorcycles, and airplane flights.

Rapidly transitioning the U.S. and global economies to renewable energy would not only weaken our foes, it will also save millions of lives while strengthening our national security and protecting our common future.

The first step, done in support of the people of Ukraine, should be sanctioning Russia’s natural gas exports. The next step should be getting the U.S. off oil and natural gas.

Who will this hurt? The poor and middle class folks. Climate cultists do not care.

They do not care if it will hurt you. But, they won’t do it for their own lives.

Brandon’s New(ish) Wuhan Flu Panic Plan Seems Mostly Divorced From Reality

So, I mentioned that Team #LetsGoBrandon was going to release a plan, and they did. It seems a bit behind the times

White House unveils plan to move America to a new stage of the Covid pandemic

The White House on Wednesday unveiled a plan to move the nation to a new stage of the pandemic where Covid-19 “does not disrupt our daily lives,” while also preparing the nation for any new variants that may emerge.

The National Covid-19 Preparedness Plan, which will require additional funding from Congress, is focused on spending on treatments for Covid-19, preparing for new variants, keeping schools and businesses open and continuing the effort to vaccinate the nation and the world.

“Vaccines, treatments, tests, masks — these tools are how we continue to protect people and enable us to move forward safely and get back to our more normal routines. Going out to eat at a restaurant, taking that trip that’s been long delayed, arranging a play date for your kids, attending a sports game, a movie or a concert again,” White House Covid-19 response coordinator Jeff Zients told reporters at a White House briefing.

Schools and businesses are open. People have been eating out at restaurants for a long time, especially in GOP run areas. People are taking trips (uber-leftist Hawaii just removed most restrictions, realizing the island state cannot survive without tourists (arriving via the use of fossil fuels)). People have been going to sporting events: remember the tens of thousands not social distancing or wearing masks at the Super Bowl? Movies? Not much point, there’s very little worth seeing. Concerts? People have been going to those for a year now. I guess, living in the Blue Bubble of D.C. these Democrats miss those things.

A major new part of the plan includes a new “Test to Treat” initiative that President Joe Biden announced during his State of the Union address Tuesday night. He said Americans would be able to get tested for Covid-19 at a pharmacy and receive free antiviral pills “on the spot” if they test positive.

Zients said hundreds of these “One-Stop Test to Treat” locations will open across the country this month. These sites will be at pharmacy-based clinics, community health centers, long-term care facilities and US Department of Veterans Affairs facilities across the country.

Probably at Planned Parenthood. And Brandon will send out more Chinese made COVID test kits! Yay?

The administration will launch a website later this month, Zients said, to help Americans locate vaccines and masks at convenient locations.

Because people had trouble with this since mask mandates started and vaccines became available, right? They think you’re stupid.

“This plan lays out the roadmap to help us fight Covid-19 in the future as we move America from crisis to a time when Covid-19 does not disrupt our daily lives and is something we prevent, protect against and treat,” a summary of the plan shared with CNN reads.

GOP areas have been doing this for over a year now.

“We look to a future when Americans no longer fear lockdowns, shutdowns, and our kids not going to school. It’s a future when the country relies on the powerful layers of protection we have built and invests in the next generation of tools to stay ahead of this virus.”

So, Democrats are going to give up their Progressivism (nice Fascism)?

Keeping schools and businesses open is a key part of the administration’s plan to keep the virus from disrupting normal life. The plan includes working with Congress to secure funding for additional tests and supplies in order to stay open, including tools to improve ventilation and air filtration. The White House will also work to get Congress to approve providing sick leave to workers who miss work because of Covid-19 or because they are caring for a loved one with the virus.

That’s about the only thing worthwhile, except, who’s paying for the sick leave? The government? Or the companies?

The plan also calls for vaccinating children under 5. He hasn’t given up on that.

The plan is here.

Poll: Youngsters Aren’t Real Enthused For Radical Change To Solve Climate Crisis (scam)

Gen Z and Millennials talk a good game on Doing Something about ‘climate change’, especially as climate cult groups enlist their help in lawsuits and such. I’m guess it’s more popular in theory than practice for their own lives

Opinion: Young Americans don’t want radical change on climate issues. They want balance

For those in environmental advocacy, it’s hard to understand why everyday Americans aren’t champing at the bit for climate action. Yet climate consistently ranks lower than Americans’ other priorities ahead of elections. Why? Mainstream environmental messaging.

According to Gallup, issues like COVID-19, poor leadership and even economic issues such as inflation rank much higher than the environment in 2022. Talk of radical change and government restructuring all in the name of climate change simply doesn’t resonate with the American people even if they are concerned about climate change and its associated effects. Instead, we want balance.

If the mainstream messaging discusses the notion that we’re all doomed, that the Earth will die unless we all accept that we need to give up our money, freedom, and life choices to government, well, yeah, it’s pretty bad.

As I’ve written before, climate solutions must be profitable in order to be embraced. Of course, we should prioritize environmental protection and real action on climate, but it’s unrealistic for mainstream environmentalists to think they will garner more support from Americans by telling them the only way to address climate change is to upend their way of life. Efforts to ban natural gas outright and suggestions that coal workers can simply learn to build solar panels are not examples of consensus-building.

Ya think?

Recent polling done by my organization, the American Conservation Coalition, demonstrates that a majority (52%) of Americans ages 18-30 believe “A balance can be struck between protecting the environment and growing the economy at the same time.” Embracing this sentiment, rather than sending the message that climate requires requires huge government policies or bust, is the right way forward in gaining more support for commonsense climate action.

Yeah, they do not want their own lives drastically changed. Go figure.

Surprise: US Officials Knew China Was Withholding Key Data On Wuhan Flu

Oh, and Fauci and company trained scientists at the Wuhan Institute Of Virology

New documents show US officials knew China was withholding data, trained Wuhan Institute scientists

A legal watchdog organization has released 90 pages of communication records between the National Institute of Health (NIH) and the Wuhan Institute of Virology on the subject of grants to the now-infamous laboratory.

Judicial Watch obtained the records, first obtained by Fox News Digital, via a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request. The emails draw attention to records between the State Department and National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), run by Dr. Anthony Fauci, that suggest U.S. officials were aware of the Chinese Communist Party withholding key information on the coronavirus before the pandemic outbreak.

“These FOIA documents show that Fauci’s agency has been hiding information on China’s failure to provide essential data on COVID-19,” Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton told Fox News Digital. “The slow-rolling and stonewalling by Fauci’s agency on China, gain of function, and its COVID response generally is pure obstruction.”

Now, Fauci and the rest of his sycophants wouldn’t obstruct, would they? Where’s he been lately?

In a Jan. 7, 2020 email sent from the American Embassy in Beijing titled “PRC Response to Pneumonia Cases Shows Increased Transparency Over Past Outbreaks, but Gaps in Epidemiological Data Remain,” officials express concern that a lack of “basic epidemiologic information” was hindering risk assessment and strategic cooperation for scientists outside China.

“While [People’s Republic of China (PRC)] health officials have released timely and open general information about the outbreak, a lack of epidemiological data, including an ‘epi curve’ (a summary of dates of onset of the illness), characteristics of infected individuals and other basic epidemiological information hinders better risk assessment and response by public health officials,” the email stated.

“Authorities have also not released information on how they are defining a ‘case.’ Given these gaps in detailed information to-date, and lack of a final confirmed pathogen, the risk to the United States and global health is difficult to assess at this time.

So, Fauci and company knew there were problems, and did not tell anyone this. Further, the National Institute of Health was helping train the people at the Wuhan institute, and, most likely, doing a piss poor job at it. Sooner or later we will get the full data, showing that COVID19 came from the lab.

There’s A Link Between ‘Climate Change’ And Putin Or Something

It just goes to show that no matter what happens, the Cult of Climastrology will drag their doomsday cult beliefs into the subject

The link between Putin and climate change

Not now, climate change scientists. Don’t they know there’s a war?

On Monday, the U.N. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) released the second part of a major report, five years in the making, that paints a stark picture of the impact climate change is already having on the world.

Yet, amid the urgency and desperation of the war in Ukraine, the report is unlikely to get the attention it warrants.

Given the timing of the release, the IPCC is inadvertently conducting an experiment proving its most crucial new finding: Whatever disorder we make in the world will ally itself with climate change and deplete our ability to respond to either.

The war in Ukraine is tied to the climate crisis in multiple ways. The aggressor is a petrostate whose long-term economic future depends on slow action to cut emissions. Europe’s dependence on Russian oil and gas is driving rival conversations about accelerating clean energy and exploring new, alternative sources for fossil fuels. Ukraine is a major grain and corn producing country, and the invasion may create a food shock that exacerbates climate-driven hunger in parts of Africa.

Yeah, it pretty much continues downhill after that, dragging in Putin, Ukraine “climate scientists”, and Doom.

The other doomsday: Climate change isn’t as flashy as war, but just as much of a threat

At this point, the language of scientific warnings about climate cataclysm has familiar characteristics, even as it gets more dire: The climate is changing as a direct result of human activity; the change is accelerating due to our inaction; some of the consequences are now unavoidable; and it will wreak havoc on our society, plunging billions into food insecurity, storms, fires, heat waves, floods and other assorted mayhem.

Ukraine war upends Biden’s agenda on energy, climate change

As Russian troops move deeper into Ukraine, President Joe Biden is taking steps to rein in rising energy costs even if those moves run counter to his agenda for addressing climate change.

Biden announced on Tuesday that he is releasing 30 million barrels of oil from U.S. strategic reserves as part of a 31-nation effort to help ensure that supplies will not fall short after Russia’s invasion of its European neighbor. The release follows ones ordered in November that also were coordinated with U.S. allies.

This is all just sooooooo inconvenient to the cult forcing their beliefs on Other People while refusing to practice what they preach.

Are Americans Ready For Ditching The Masks?

The first thing I’ll say is that if you want to wear a mask, go for it. You do you. If you feel more comfortable with it on, that’s your decision, and people should respect it. I think they never should have done away with social distancing rules. I still practice this, and really, really dislike shaking hands with people I do not know. I will find a reason to immediately go wash my hands if I can’t get away with motioning that I don’t shake, giving a warm fist bump or elbow. I will make fun of you if the mask you’re voluntarily wearing is no on correctly, if you’re removing it to talk to someone, or wearing it in your car alone. Or outside.

Are we really done with masking?

When a teacher in Las Vegas told her students last month that they no longer had to wear masks in keeping with the state’s new rules, the classroom erupted in cheers. Mask mandates are falling across the country, leading to similar expressions of relief — as well as warnings that such celebrations are premature.

Judging by the speed with which even cautious Democrats are casting off mandates, it appears that these warnings are not being heeded. Last week the attending physician of the U.S. Capitol said that masking was no longer required, meaning that when President Biden delivers his State of the Union address Tuesday night, it will likely be before a sea of visible human faces — with some KN95s and surgical masks surely sprinkled in between. (big snip)

A new Yahoo News/YouGov poll shows a sudden swell of optimism about COVID-19, as well as the biggest decline between surveys in concerns about the coronavirus since the beginning of the pandemic. Only 47 percent of Americans now say they are at least somewhat worried about the virus, down from 55 percent in early February, the lowest share to date. A majority of Americans (55 percent) now think the worst of the pandemic has passed, up 9 points since early February.

As fears of the virus wane, people are simply masking less in response. Just 53 percent of Americans, for instance, now say they wore a mask always or most of the time over the past seven days, down 9 points (from 62 percent) since early February. And America’s masking rate will likely decline further in the coming weeks, as the Yahoo News/YouGov poll was mostly conducted before the CDC issued its new guidance and the latest states relaxed their mandates.

The poll was taken February 24-27, so, I would have been in that spot of wearing a mask all the time while indoors at work, since the mandate for Raleigh wasn’t removed till 5pm on Friday the 25th. I would wear it if I was running in someplace that required/asked, no big deal for 10 minutes. If employees weren’t wearing correctly, mine comes off. I do not wear at the gym.

As for the government mask mandates, just 38 percent of Americans say that it is “too soon to stop requiring masks inside.” Far more (50 percent) either believe that “it is the right time to stop requiring masks inside” (19 percent), that “masks have been required inside for too long” (14 percent) or that “masks should never have been required inside” (17 percent).

Especially since it has been shown again and again that cloth masks/surgical masks make almost no difference. Why did so many of us get the vaccine to be forced to wear a mask, including when we’re sitting alone at a desk with no one within 30 feet?

Her specific quote

Pelosi said, “No, I’m not going to be wearing a mask tonight. If I had little children or were around little grandchildren, I would because some of them would not be vaccinated. Or if I were around a person or I was a person with some kind of a condition that would make me susceptible to it. I think people have to use their judgment about it. But I do think that if people make their own judgment, I’m making my own judgment, that I won’t be wearing a mask tonight.”

Well, that’s strange, right? I have coworkers who are making their own judgement to wear a mask at work. That’s their decision. Suddenly, Democrats are for personal judgement. What changed? (polling)

As a sidebar, the poll also has Joe at 41% approve, 53% disapprove. And only 15% strongly approve, with 39% strongly disapproving. Only 35% of Democrats strongly approve. And just 8% of Independents. 44% of Independents strong disapprove.

He’s underwater on his COVID response, the economy, foreign policy, race, and so much more. There’s a lot in there.

Surprise: Vast Majority Of Americans Against Getting Rid Of Fossil Fuels

Biden did spend some time during the SOTU yammering on about EVs and renewables and reducing fossil fuels (when he wasn’t being his normal “what the hell did he say?” guy), but, what do the American people have to say?

Americans agree climate change is an issue — but differ on what to do

electric vehicleThree-quarters of Americans believe the U.S. ought to participate in international efforts to address climate change, but a majority remain pessimistic about those efforts.

Pew Research Center poll published Tuesday found that 53 percent of those surveyed didn’t think the world would avoid climate change’s worst impacts. That grim sentiment cut across party lines.

“There’s some skepticism that change will be enough to avoid the worst effects,” said Carey Funk, the center’s director of science and society research. “That was shared, generally speaking, across parties.”

The survey results, which analyzed the responses of more than 10,000 Americans, follow a new report from the United Nations’ Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) that said climate change is endangering people already and will disrupt food systems, force tens of millions more from their homes and threaten gains in global health unless drastic action is taken.

The survey, which was conducted before Russia invaded Ukraine, shows that Americans are deeply divided over climate and energy policy and differ over how to address global warming as its primary cause.

I wonder what it would look like if you take it now?

Two-thirds of Americans think the United States should use a mix of fossil fuels and renewables in the future, rather than phase out fossil fuels completely, the Pew research says. About 28 percent — including more than half of Republicans — oppose the U.S. taking steps toward becoming carbon neutral.

Interesting: most Americans seem to understand that things do not run without fossil fuels. Reading between the lines, you can bet those same people realize that electric vehicles are, at this time, for people who are making a lot of money, not for the average citizen. Someone making $50K a year isn’t particularly interested in a $40K and up EV, understanding just how much that monthly payment would be, and then there’s the whole problem with charging them. What do you do on trips? What do you do if you live in an apartment? Does anyone actually believe Biden is going to be putting all his promised EV chargers up in low and middle income areas? Again, I support them in theory. I’ve always said I’m not a fan of fossil fuels, as they do pollute, excluding CO2. They aren’t even close to being ready for primetime for all.

As for being carbon neutral, those who said we’re ready rarely ever take actions in their own lives.

The Pew polling says about 35 percent of adults believe policies aiming to reduce the effects of global warming harm the U.S. economy, according to the Pew research.

Carr argues that’s shortsighted.

“People say, ‘Oh, adaptation is really expensive, we don’t want to pay for that,’ as if we’re not already paying for climate adaptation every time we have to renourish a beach or build a seawall or rebuild a coastal town when it gets flooded,” Carr said, arguing that a proactive approach would be effective and avoid “tremendous” costs later.

High ranking climate cultists always say this, yet, they aren’t doing anything in their own lives, eh? Where’s Biden’s electric limo and large convoy of electric SUVs? When he’s flying in a big, military helicopter every weekend to Camp David or his home in Delaware, what are we to believe?

The poll really shows that, while people support more wind, solar, etc, they are against the federal government requiring it while doing away with dependable, reliable, affordable fossil fuels at this time.

Brandon Admin To Introduce New “Test To Treat” Strategy

Two years into the Wuhan Flu, and as the Omicron wave crashes, Brandon finally decided that medicines are a thing

WATCH: Biden outlines COVID plan in State of the Union, says Americans can soon move ‘back to more normal routines’

Normal? We watched the Super Bowl with all the celebs and politicians not wearing masks despite a mask mandate, and engaging in no social distancing

President Joe Biden declared Tuesday that “it’s time for Americans to get back to work” as he announced new efforts to allow people to return to normal activities safely after two years of pandemic disruptions.

Yeah, we said this a year and a half ago, when we knew who was most at risk

Biden used his State of the Union address to announce that his administration was launching a “test-to-treat” initiative to provide free antiviral pills at pharmacies to those who test positive for the virus.

He also highlighted the progress made on the pandemic since last year, with a dramatic reduction in cases, readily-available vaccines and tests, and new therapeutics soon becoming more accessible.

“Tonight, I can say we are moving forward safely, back to more normal routines,” Biden said. “It’s time for Americans to get back to work and fill our great downtowns again.”

His comments come ahead of the White House release of a new “National COVID-19 Preparedness Plan” on Wednesday. The White House said it would be “a roadmap that will enable us to move forward safely, and sustain and build on the progress we’ve made over the past 13 months.”

Progress? More people have died under Biden’s watch than under Trump, despite all the mask mandates and having vaccines available thanks to Trump’s Operation Warp Speed. Hey, can all the nurses and others get their jobs back? They were heroes first, then turned into villains for refusing to take the vaccine, which is essentially in experimental phase (yes, I still support them, but, that’s me). Therapeutics? The things Biden and the Dems have blown off because Trump and Republicans wanted them to be used? And that Biden has also blocked? These might have been helpful during Delta and Omicron.

Would these be the therapeutics that Joe has slow walked his entire presidency? It’s a little late in the game for this, right?

(NY Times) The White House has been working on a detailed new coronavirus response strategy, which officials said they would introduce on Wednesday. It is expected to address a broad range of issues, including developing new vaccines and therapeutics and how to keep schools and businesses open even if the pandemic takes a turn for the worse.

The idea behind the strategy is to get the nation out of crisis mode and to a place, Mr. Biden has said, where the virus will no longer disrupt everyday life, and Americans will learn to live with it. Mr. Biden spoke in broad strokes about the way forward, providing few details.

A goodly chunk of us were already there. Even many of Brandon’s voters have moved on from believing in the heavy hand of government. He’s promising to have 1 million doses of the Pfizer pills this month, and a million next month, despite being relatively scare since the FDA finally approved them.

It is interesting: the polling caused Democrats to suddenly abandon most of their mask mandates, we aren’t hearing about vaccine mandates, we saw at the SOTU that social distancing disappeared, and now Brandon is talking about opening things up and pushing therapeutics.
