I must say, CNN really should have considered whom they were going to use as a sob story in the article
Another group of immigrants may be on the verge of losing deportation protections
Soledad Miranda’s eyes fill with tears as she packs boxes for a move she’s hoping she won’t have to make.
“I feel defeated,” she says.
For 25 years, the program known as Temporary Protected Status, or TPS, has allowed Miranda and around 170,000 other Salvadorans to work legally in the United States and protected them from deportation. Now many are on edge awaiting the Trump administration’s decision on their futures.
Some Salvadorans had hoped the rapport between Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele and US President Donald Trump could pave the way for a reprieve, even as administration officials have revoked deportation protections for many other nationalities.
But the Department of Homeland Security hasn’t yet made an announcement on TPS for El Salvador. And on Wednesday, which had been the scheduled ending date for Salvadorans’ protections, a written statement from a DHS spokesperson provided few answers.
But, hey, how about this
Miranda, 52, came to the US in 1997 and built a life for herself and her 16-year-old daughter, who is a US citizen. Working as a cleaner in a government building, she saved enough money for an apartment she says she can no longer afford if her work authorization expires. So she’s started packing treasured mementos from more than 30 years of her life.
“Now all of that is in this box,” Miranda tells CNN en Español as she gestures at an empty wall in her apartment. “It’s over.”
So, she’s been here since 1997 and she has to give the interview in Spanish? She couldn’t take the time to learn English?
Real? There are no articles yet. But, sure seems likely.

Donny has been here, on and off, for 80 years and barely speaks English.
Should we deport everyone who doesn’t speak ‘approved’ English?
He seems to speak English more persuasively than you do.
He has persuaded hundreds of millions to believe he’s a vile idiot leading the once greatest nation to ruin.
Anyone, his persuadees are just more ‘neurodiverse’ than I.
An for those of you who ARE persuaded by Donny, ‘neurodiverse’ means ‘stupid’.
covfefe forever!!
“Temporary” Protected Status for a quarter of a century? That tells me that the good-hearted Presidents Bush and Obama and Biden didn’t do their f(ornicating) jobs, and it took an [insert slang term for the anus here] like President Trump to do the right thing.
A lot of people hate him because he is an [insert slang term for the anus here], but that’s what we need, that’s what we have needed for a long time, to do the right things. Had his predecessors fixed our immigration system decades ago, to allow controlled and regulated immigration of decent and fully vetted immigrants, we wouldn’t need for the President to be an [insert slang term for the anus here] to get things done. I can, and do, support the controlled immigration of married, Catholic families of demonstrably good character, with the skills to support themselves in the United States, but the unfettered stampede allowed under some previous Presidents is not that. We need good immigrants who want to become real Americans, not a swarm who want to remake us into North Mexico . . . or West Haiti.
“If unsafe conditions in a home country continue, the government can renew the designation repeatedly.”
Can you imagine the insanity of sending a productive Haitian here back to Haiti? That would be stupid! Even covfefe.
The proud white christianist* Mr Dana is a proud [insert slang term for the anus here], much like his Dear Leader. Although, in Mr Dana’s defense, he uses the language better than Donny. Yes, yes, faint praise.
