The Bonfire of the Koran

So the Muslim extremists got all bent out of shape over the supposed desecration of a Koran (Quran?) as reported by Newsweak, despite there being no evidence, and are still up in arms despite Newsweak retracting the story. Hmm. They don’t seem to have an issue with the real story, which was that a Muslim prisoner was tearing the pages out of his copy of the Koran and flushing them down the crapper in an attempt to block it up. They don’t seem to have a problem with

  • Two children have been killed and their mother wounded in a homemade bomb blast outside a Shia mosque in Baghdad, an army official. (notice the tiny little type in the Al Jazeera story. It was formatted that way)
  • In Baghdad, gunmen killed a Shiite Muslim cleric, and two missing Sunni clerics were found shot dead, police said.
  • In October 2000, after Israeli troops evacuated the city of Nablus as a peacemaking gesture, scores of Palestinians stormed into the Joseph’s Tomb compound and destroyed the site believed to be the burial place of the biblical patriarch Joseph – the son of Jacob who was sold by his brothers into slavery and later became the viceroy of Egypt.
  • The report said that one out of every two mosques in Fallujah were used to hide fighters or weapons during a recent offensive. Fallujah is called the "city of mosques" because it has at least 100 such houses of worship.
  • A Christian preacher in the northern Nigeria city of Kano and six members of his family died in a house fire on April 22. Christian leaders in the city believe Muslim militants deliberately set the fatal blaze.

Getting the picture? It is ok for them to desecrate their own religious icons, as well as those of other religions, but, like the Democratic party, "what is good for the goose is NOT good for the gander." Go figure.

Say it ain’t so, Babs?

“It is not the role of the Senate to obstruct the process and prevent numbers of highly qualified nominees from even being given the opportunity for a vote on the Senate floor.” Sen. Barbara Boxer, Congressional Record, May 14, 1997 (via Urban Grounds)

Oops. Not exactly new news, Michelle Malkin had an article about this on April 28th (BTW, is it just me, or is Michelle’s formatting messed up for the header?) How about some of Barbara’s buddies?

"Let’s bring their nominations up, debate them if necessary, and vote them up or down." Sen. Dianne Feinstein, Congressional Record, September 11, 1997

“I do not believe that I as a member of the minority ought to have the right to absolutely stop something because I think it is wrong, that that is rule by minority.” Sen. Tom Harkin, Congressional Record, January 5, 1995

Hmmm. So, as usual, the Dem party is pulling their "what’s good for the goose is NOT good for the gander" twaddle these days. It’s craptacular. Kinda how they made all those comments during Slick’s reign regarding Saddam and his WMD programs, as well as pushing through the Iraq Liberation Act (which was a good thing, I will say.)

When it comes to voting, there should be NO COMPROMISE! Period. You bring these nominees to the floor, and vote on them. Senators have had plenty of time to give their advice in the press for years now. Now it is time to either give their consent on not. That is what the Constitution states. Nowhere in my copy does it state that one must pontificate on BS for hours on end, nor refuse to vote.

Couple things

I hope everyone enjoys the Patriotic Pinup photo’s on the left sidebar. Photo’s, you say? Yup, photos. Hit refresh. Abracadabra, a new photo! I ran across a java script in my attempt to help Beth at MY Vast Right Wing Conspiracy with a script. If you want this one, let me know. The great thing is that there is no pasting within your header like most of them. Just Bam! right in the sidebar.

Will I bust 50K today? Hopefully. With my internal metrics working again, I might be able to see who it is.

Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith. Go see it.

Still not getting it

From head loon, the Daily Kos:

Damn you, Newsweek!!!

Taking the lead of the White House—as all patriotic American boys and girls should do—C&J officially blames Newsweek for the following:

Droughts, floods and hailstorms. Fleas. The Cs, Ds and Fs I got in school. Computer freeze-up. Peeling paint. Graffiti. Potholes. My handwriting. Trolls. Clogged pipes and leaky basements. Zits, blackheads and Eczema. Base closures. Gas prices. Global warming and gout. Dust mites. Powerline, Instapundit, Little Green Footballs and anal leakage (sorry for the redundancy). The decline of western civilization…..(and so on)

The Left just does not get it. We saw the same thing with Rathergate. We see it now with Kerry promising to sign his 180’s. There is a disconnect between right and wrong. If it hurts Bush, they do not care whether something is wrong. If it hurts America and causes harm to Americans, it doesn’t matter to the Left if it wrong. If people are killed and injured, our troops and citizens are put in danger, such as what happened with Newsweak story, it doesn’t matter to the Left that the story was wrong.

Right is right, wrong is wrong. The Left can try and link the Newsweak fiasco with other issues, but just like with a serial murderer, responsibility for what happened rests on Newsweaks shoulders. They published a BS story, and people died. Among other things. The Left can start up their "Bush and Co. pressured Newsweak to retract the story" and "the story was wrong but he substance was right" crap. And they are no better then Newsweak, through allegations with no evidence.

John Hawkins at Right Wing News has more.

So summing it all up, Newsweek acted irresponsibly and it led to deaths. To try to shrug that off and put the onus on the Bush administration for Newsweek’s horrible mistake is absurd and you’d think a professional journalist like Bill Press would understand that better than most people.

Dems offer more smear on Bolton

They. Just. Don’t. Get. It. All the Dems, in this case the Senate Dems, go for the smear tactic. This is school yard tactics. Juvenile.

John R. Bolton planned to ask then-CIA Director George Tenet to help punish a government intelligence analyst who disagreed with Bolton, and then misled a Senate committee about the matter, says a Democratic draft report obtained by The Associated Press.

Bolton pushed for months to have the analyst removed from his job or otherwise disciplined, but testified under oath at his confirmation hearing to be United Nations ambassador that he "made no effort to have discipline imposed" on the man, the report said.

"Bolton’s effort to minimize the significance of his efforts is disingenuous," said the report from Democrats on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

In support of their allegations, the Democrats referred to e-mails and other documents that have not been publicly released.

Let me reiterate that. Have not been publicly released. By all means, let’s smear someone without giving the People a chance to review the evidence. Will they make them public? I would suspect that the answer will be a resounding "No." It also makes me wonder whether they obtained those "emails and other documents" in a legal manner, if they in fact exist.

We know that at least a portion of 48% of the US population are sheeple and will believe anything that the Dem leaders write and say. For the rest of us right thinking folks (you can take that both ways), we know that what it comes down to is hatred. Hatred of Bush. Hatred of the Republican Party. Hatred of Christian values. Hatred period. The dems axes are getting rather blunt at this point. They have been trying to chop down the same tree for a while now, and aren’t getting anywhere. Could they even offer a better candidate, one that would satisfy both parties? I would doubt it.

Typepad hint

This might even apply to others who have internal stats, too.

Some folks may remember me whining about my internal stats not working, those being hit counter and referrers. Been happening since January. Have tried everything (almost), and Typepad help was stumped (I apologize for some nasty words to them.) But, finally, I figured out what the problem was.

I had an epiphany regarding my copy of the American Flag League script on my site. The script over at the American Flag League is correct, FYI. The problem? The script was missing the ">" at the end of it. That one character stopped all internal stats.

Why does it matter to me? Basically because I get a much better measure of who is coming, and if they are searching for "jessica+alba+nude." If ye remember, that was one of the search terms from the Great Blogwar. Also, you can reach my blog 3 ways. thepiratescove.us, piratescove.typepad.com, and piratescove.typepad.come/piratescove. Putting www in front of works to. Sitemeter is set to thepiratescove.us, so if you come using that or, preferably, www.thepiratescove.us, it shows as a visit and stuff. If you come to the other 2, not recorded.

For instance, internal shows 484. Sitemeter shows 233. ‘Cause internal measures all 3 addresses, Sitemeter doesn’t. Point is, make sure all you scripts and stuff are complete.

Democrats hate Democracy

The minority party needs to take a clue that they are a minority for a reason, and will remain that way for a long time. This kind of BS just puts the Democratic agenda into perfect light. (h/t to Blogs For Bush)

U.S. Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist’s Communication Director Bob Stevenson today made the following statement in response to the Senate Democrats’ refusal to grant consent, effectively shutting down the Senate’s committees and preventing them from meeting after 11:30 a.m..

“What a difference a day makes. Less than 24 hours after he complained the Senate is ignoring issues important to Americans, Democrat Leader Harry Reid today threatened progress on an energy bill, a jobs bill, disaster relief, and a closed intelligence meeting.

“To close down the committees over the judges issue is not only counterproductive, it could hurt Americans looking for work or suffering at the gas pumps.

“Despite any differences over the judges, the American people want their government to continue working on issues important to them.  They want the Senate to do its job.

Sorry, Bill, but that is about all the Dems have these days. They have no plans and no agenda, at least that is positive and benefits the United States. They have lost the House, the Senate, and the White House. Without their disgusting behavior during the past election, their candidate wouldn’t even have made it close. The only thing they can do is try and make sure that they have radical, Left wing judges on the bench, to push their pitiful way of government on people. Like this (registration req’d)

Galloway and the Senate

British Parliament member George Galloway met with the US Senate yesterday regarding allegations that he was involved in the Oil For Food scandal. Very enlightening.

Galloway, who arrived in the United States late Monday night, argued that documents suggesting he got the vouchers are bogus and that the Iraqi officials who ratted him out are lying.

"You have the gall to quote a source without ever having asked me if the allegations were true, that I am the ‘owner of a company which has made substantial profits from oil for food,’" Galloway said, noting that he owns no companies besides a media firm in London.

"You had no business to carry a quotation utterly unsubstantiated and falsely implying otherwise," he said. "You’ve already found me guilty before I have had a chance to come here and defend myself."

Gee, like the times that you have accused Tony Blair and George Bush of lying to start a war with Saddam Hussein’s Iraq? And, no, they haven’t found you guilty, but they would like to know just what you were doing, considering that the accusations stem from not only a material witness, but documents found in Iraq. And, guess what? They are asking you, so why not offer something credible to refute the documents. Instead, you go Moonbat (can a British citizen go Moonbat, or do I need a different word for that?).

Galloway previously told reporters that he feels the accusations are a political setup arranged by the Bush administration and Republicans who strongly supported the president’s war in Iraq. He also acknowledged that his relationship with former Iraq Deputy Prime Minister Tariq Aziz was friendly.

Prior to the hearing, Galloway blasted subcommittee chairman Sen. Norm Coleman, R-Minn., and his colleagues as being a "group of Christian fundamentalists and Zionist activists under the chairmanship of neo-con George Bush and the right-wing hawks."

That’s a great way to cooperate with the committee that you flew across the pond to face. Guaranteed to elicit a retraction (sic). As I have stated before, you have to give Saddam one thing: he knew how to set up a civil service which kept impeccable records. Cause they sure did. What is Galloway accused of?

Other Saddam regime officials confirmed that Galloway received allocations, Greenblatt said. He added that one document "indicates that the recipient of this oil allocation was Mariam Appeal, the foundation established by George Galloway, ostensibly to help a four-year-old Iraqi girl named Mariam who was suffering from leukemia. Therefore, it appears that George Galloway used a children’s cancer foundation to conceal his oil transaction."

So, he was the money man in the deal. Too bad the US has no ability to prosecute Galloway. You can be sure that the charges will be given to the British legal system.

Meanwhile, the UN is planning on spending $1.2 billion on a facelift for their headquarters. Now you know where your money from those UNICEF boxes goes.
